Chapter 19

“What is this meeting about?” I asked one of the pack members who just stepped out of her room to attend the meeting. Everyone else was stepping out of their doors, lining down the stairs towards the lounge.

“I don’t know. But I’m sure it’s related to Miss Violet’s pregnancy. She’s after all, stirring up the entire pack because of the news—” unaware who she was talking to, she slowly turns, the enthusiastic look on her face after tattling instantly falls down into shock before fear as he sees the group of pack warriors behind me.

“I-I . . . I’m sorry, Luna!” She bowed down, her hands trembling. I smiled. The authority I felt with the title I was called slowly fleeting. I placed a hand on her shoulder, and she raised her head.

“It’s fine,” I muttered before turning away from her to the lounge. It didn’t take long though before her mouth had to run after I marched off for a couple of meters.

I sometimes think people around here forget that we’re wolves, blessed with high sense

Chapter 20They say the greatest power was often simple patience. I wish I could empathize with that because right now, I have none.I wanted nothing more than to get out of this place, to these eyes that’s staring me down so much. I could feel myself being buried on the ground by their heavy gazes — a sentiment I currently share. If the floor opened up for me, I’d gladly jump in.“R-really?” Violet murmured, genuinely confused at my sudden proposal. She was the first to break the silence, and this was the first I’d be thankful to her for. I flashed a constricted smile, which must have looked like something you’d see from someone having trouble in the toilet.“Yes, I . . .” I glanced up at Andy and Logan as I figured out a reason plausible enough that they wouldn’t think I was planning something sabotaging. Fortunately, the two were too shocked at me to even continue their fight. Now, it’s only me who’s in deep shit, I guess.I looked back at Violet, scratching the back of my head ever

How to lead a pack with an ironclad determination, and to win against all oppositions. My success was largely owed much to his teachings when I was still on my way to the Luna position against everyone else.George, Logan, and I stood on the side, meters away from the large helipad. The helicopter slowly landed down carrying with it a deafening roar

Chapter 22There’s a special kind of revulsion reserved for those who go low, lower than one could imagine, where Violet Harrison was right now.No matter what she was deprived of — attention, love, greed; it still left me questioning how anyone could sink this disgustingly low.Logan looked down at his mate before a distressed sigh left his lips, glancing at me with a sorry look as an apology for what Violet said. Love is blind, goddamn blind, if he lets her get away with practically calling me infertile.I felt the couch shifting beside me, and I turned to Vincent who’s looking pretty ready to pounce on the Alpha’s mate like a bull seeing red. I instantly nudge his knees, waking him up from any deadly intentions he has going on right now.The last thing I wanted was to lose another friend right now.“I-I’m sorry, was that too sensitive to ask?” Violet’s words pierced through the silence lingering around us before holding onto Logan once again as if to seek comfort from the embarrassm

Chapter 23I stared in the mirror and saw someone on the verge of change in its reflection. I inhaled and exhaled, the air musky with the scent I’d grown accustomed to for so many years. This would be the last time I used this massive room, which was adorned with my bath products and traces of Logan’s aftershave, too, when we still slept together in the same room. With the last courage I’ve mustered, I stepped out of the bathroom in my robe. The dress I’ve worked so hard cutting and sewing for the last hour laid on the bed. It must have been Violet sabotaging me — fortunately for her, it would be the last time she had to do that now that I was soon off her sight.I was about to head over to the bed when three consecutive knocks were heard first before I was to do so. I instantly covered the dress with the sheets and headed to the door in my robe.Who could it be with the party thirty minutes away from now? Surely, they wouldn’t have the time in their hands to idle around instead of pre

Chapter 24Expectations were the architects of disappointment, and I felt the pleasure seeping through me as I shattered their wildest with every step I took. I was a wildcard, and right now, leaving their jaws dropping was my most satisfying feat. The modest Luna. Poised and delicate. I was supposed to be collected and demure. Those were the adjectives I lived for through the years. However, since this was the last time, I decided to break free from their boxed image of me.Who cares? In thirty minutes, I’m no longer the Luna. Violet could shoulder all the expectations later on.That was why I couldn’t blame those who brought liquor or danced as though they were in a nightclub when, in fact, this was a party for an unborn baby — because I, too, was donned in a red, lewd dress that demanded attention from all directions. When I saw the supposed long sleeves ripped on the bed, I cut them off and cut the dress shorter into a pair of spaghetti straps that embraced my shoulders. Chapter 25I’ve been waiting for this. To see how low she could bend herself over to win over me, and indeed, it did not disappoint. A part of me couldn’t help but feel a strange mix of vindication and shock.I had been waiting for this moment, a glimpse into the depth of Violet’s malice — to see just how low she could stoop. But even with all the anticipation, I never imagined she would go as far as to ruin her own baby shower just to humiliate me. A payback of her own expense.“Are you planning to poison us?” One of the Lunas from another pack that’s been invited instantly shrieked, dropping her plate. I find Logan’s penetrating stare through the crowd.Disappointment danced over his orbs, glinting under the hue of the chandelier. This was probably why I did not hesitate to make him leave. He didn’t even know if I actually did it, and yet, he was already suspicious.“D-don’t say that, Luna. I’m sure Morana didn’t mean to do that.” Violet butted in, an awkward smile on her face as if

Chapter 26Life was indeed full of mysteries. It’s astounding how one small flaw could erase hours of planning and leave us wondering what went wrong. As for this one I meticulously thought would work, Dad’s sudden aggression was the point of no return. Why would he do that? Why would he attack Logan? But most of all, how could Logan even give back a blow so strong? It was as if he planned to kill him rather than defend himself. He really planned to end my father’s life. Those were the thoughts that swallowed me whole as I lay lifeless on the ground, or maybe not entirely lifeless as I could still feel a few of my muscles working, my back aching, and my entire body bleeding, but what hurt the most, to my surprise, was my chest when the attack didn’t even reach that part.It didn’t take long before my ears reacted too, hearing steps running towards me and a duo of voices reverberating in the air. The impact of Logan’s throw was just too strong enough to knock me out, almost. However, I

Chapter 27I lay on the ground. The searing pain coursing through my body was almost unbearable. Each breath felt like a struggle as if my very life force was slipping away, leaving me on the precipice of death.Logan’s gigantic and visibly angry wolf’s throw had sent me hurtling through the air, crashing into the unforgiving floor with a bone-jarring impact. My heart stubbornly beat, a reminder that the will to survive still burned within me, even as everything else seemed to be spiraling out of control. My blurry eyes caught onto Logan, who was now fully naked in all his glory, which I am thankful for: I do not see his large wolf around anymore. His eyes seemed to have tuned down from angry mode back into its Teal colors. He ran towards me with a teary-eyed and regretful expression. I could barely find the strength to respond. The pain was all-consuming, drowning out the sound of the world around me.“Morana . . . Morana, it’s me. Wake up!” Unlike earlier, I had no more strength to e

Morana’s POVAs if a bucket of freezing water was dumped on me, I froze in the doorway, staring blankly at the body in front of me that was clenching in pain.My heart throbbed in an unexplainable way as I watched my own body curled in a ball, eyes closed, and writhing.I wasn’t the one feeling that pain… that heat. It’s him. Logan’s the one feeling all the kickback of the mate’s betrayal, just like how I wished it to me.But there’s a string in my heart that’s pulling me in the other direction. Was it conscience? Love? Sympathy? I didn’t know. And before I could make amends to myself what it was I was feeling, my feet started moving on their own accord. Crouching down, I slowly placed my hand on Logan’s shoulder, letting his callous hands touch my smooth and fair-skinned shoulder. But as soon as I touched him, I was jolted back by a current that brought tingles all over my body.My eyes widened. “What was that?”“Morana?” Logan finally opened his eyelids and looked up at me.Delight

Morana’s POVThere came a time when we’d vow never to do something in our lives, but fate would likely throw us a bone and turn us crazy until we broke that promise ourselves.Boredom filled me while I sat in the front row, waiting for Logan and Violet to reach the third stage, where I could watch them through the feed. Indeed, as much as I hate this game, participating was a whole lot more exciting than sitting here.Did he see her true color yet? What’s happening there now?Questions filled my mind as I anxiously tapped my fingers on the armrest. Meanwhile, while the game continued, the cheers of my warriors didn’t go down despite knowing that the participants inside couldn’t hear them.In fact, they got louder. What made me smile, though, was when they jumped when they heard Logan won the first round. I furrowed my brows at that announcement, though. How in the world did he win that stage?Logan was strategically smart and physically powerful, but he could not have won the stage of

Logan’s POVViolet sent me a mocking smirk before she entered the combat arena, rejoicing as she heard Finely proudly announce her as a winner for the second stage of the game.Unfazed by her cheating schemes, I swayed with the veins and jumped. But as soon as I landed on my feet at the ground, I uncontrollably fell on my knee, feeling weak.Gritting my teeth, I whispered, “Wolfsbane…”My chest rose and fell heavily, feeling the burning sensation cursing through my veins. I coughed in shock as I felt the poison hitting my heart.Clanching my chest, I looked up and saw her victoriously standing in the middle of the arena.Taking deep breaths, I momentarily closed my eyes, calling my inner wolf to fasten our adopting skills.Though Morana’s body wasn’t built as strong and adaptable as an Alpha, she was a warrior and a gamma before she became a Luna. Her body was strong enough to withhold the wolfsbane in her veins. But that didn’t change the fact that I’d feel weaker and… Shit!Realizat

  • Switched Fate: Tangled In His Body   Chapter 41

Logan’s POVViolet was unharmed, but the two of us would probably not survive if we didn’t do anything.Right in front of us was a river that separated us from the next land. What’s more, there’s no way to walk around it. The only way was to cross the river… but it’s not any ordinary river. Its width was probably a kilometer, and the fluid flowing in it was not water but magma!Despite standing a few feet away from it, Violet and I were already murderously sweating from the heat it was exuding.“Is that what I think it is?” she asked, and I could only nod in silence.Scoffing, she asked, “What, do the elders want us to cross it and burn ourselves to death?”She looked at me in exasperation. “We’ll be cooked halfway in there even if we’re stupid enough to cross it by foot!”“Or by some miracle, we could fly, which is far from possible!” By now, she’s just rumbling from nervousness.Fly… That’s right! We would surely die if we touched the magma. And since we couldn’t walk around it, we

Logan’s POVUltimate silence surrounded the air between us while my handprint was marked on her arm. She squirmed for freedom, but I only let her go after sending a death glare at her.“That’s uncalled for,” she remarked before she massaged her arm and took a few steps back from me.I scoffed and nodded toward the sign. “If you’re so smart, do it yourself.” With that, I went to the seats in the middle of the room and made myself comfortable. She threw me a look as she stomped her way toward me, the bruise already healed. “This is a competition.”Raising my brow, I nonchalantly replied, “I never said it wasn’t.”After a moment’s time, she finally let it go and angrily went her way. She stopped a few feet away from the sign.Arrogantly, she lectured me by pointing out the numbers. “See that? Those are call numbers! It's used in the library, attached to each spine. There’s either a clue or answer in books corresponding to that!”She smugly smirked as she went to get the first book, 065.

  • Switched Fate: Tangled In His Body   Chapter 39

Logan’s POVJealousy crept into me like a curse when she tried to protect those warriors. I know it sounded shit, but I couldn’t help but feel that way. It’s still vivid in my mind how close she was with them, and it still irritates the heck out of me whenever I remember how their loyalty to her was much greater than their loyalty to me when I was the pack’s alpha. They’d cheer for her and would even look passed me like I didn’t exist during the Luna’s game. She’s the one who trained them tirelessly all day and night, and I’m aware of how close she was to them, but it still infuriated me, especially when I saw how close and at ease she was with them while she ignored me before.I closed my eyes and cursed, “This is all Vioelt’s fault.”With that in thought, I couldn’t stop myself from throwing a glare at Violet, who was beside me and only a few feet away.I scoffed. It’s funny how the undying extensive feeling I had for her before was all gone now. It’s as if it never existed, and all

Morana’s POV“Tell me,” he insisted while still sitting on my bed.I solemnly looked into his eyes as if seeing the past scenes in the orbs of his eyes.Bitterly smiling, I shook my head and replied coldly, “It’s not just a nightmare. It’s a memory.”His eyebrows furrowed; he shifted and tried to get closer to me, but I immediately raised my palm up. “Stay right there,” I said. And so, he did.“What memory is it about? Tell me. Maybe I can help,” he persisted, testing my patience.Momentarily closing my eyes, I took a deep breath before looking at him again. Pointing at the couch, I gritted my teeth and said, “Get back where you belong and get off my back!”Pain crossed his eyes before he slowly stood up. Looking right into my eyes, he said with longing, “But where you are is where I belong.”For a moment, I was moved, and my heart felt swayed. But then, I scoffed. “Stop the nonsense already, and get back to sleep. And if I were you, instead of wasting your time messing around, you mi

We’re not the same.”Leaning in, I added, “Unlike you, I am fighting hard against this bullshit mate pull.”As I turned to grab the towel from the rack, I heard him say, “Oh, yeah? Then why haven’t you rejected her yet?”“Aww! What the hell, Morana?”“Stop yelping like a girl!” I annoyingly remarked while blindfolding him with a towel. He laughed. “Well, did you think for a second that it’s maybe because I’m in your body, which, by the way, is a woman’s body if you forget?”“Stop talking, you annoying!” I remarked before pushing him toward the tub. But of course, while I was mortified, Violet was feeling the opposite. She’s looking ecstatic, rather.“Logan, I know you feel it, too.” She’s smiling so wide while looking at me like she just won the lottery. Goddess, I hate her, and I couldn’t wait for me to get back in my own body.“Don’t ever, ever, get near me again!” I threatened while pointing a finger at her before I turned around. This time, I walked as fast as I could away from her.Lost the feeling of roaming around, I decided to just get back at the pack house.“I can’t believe I kiss her! That’s disgusting and aw
