Two Hundred and Thirty Five

Steve’s POV

I watched Chad and Jill working together. I had been shocked when Jill wanted to go help Chad bring the folders in but decided to let it go. Then after she saw the live stream and Chad comforted her. I noticed how she did not try to move away from him, instead she leaned into him. The others must have noticed too as after dinner they are started to make excuses to leave. I told her that I wanted to check the live link and see if I could spot any of the places that we were told about from James’s friends. She seemed to buy it, I winked at her as I walked away. I heard the two of them say something and then I heard their footsteps leaving.

“Why are you listening at the door?” Vic was looking at me like I had lost my mind

“Did you not notice Chad and Jill?”

“What they were working together and not fighting”

“No, they were close, when Chad offered comfort to Jill she did not push him away like she usually does. I think something happened when they went down to get the files”
