Kenzie’s POV

“I’m coping,” he responded, looking hopeless; seeming lifeless.

I gestured to Matt to excuse us.

“He is gone. Is there something you want to say?” I bellowed. He gave me that look like I was his saviour. At this point, I was his only hope.

I loved it when people had to beg me for stuff. I won’t hand out pearls to them so easily.

“I know what I did was wrong. But I’d sincerely appreciate it if you could appeal to Alpha Miles on my behalf.”

“Why should I beg for criminals?” I snorted.

“I didn’t mean to send Joe to the frontline in battle. He was insistent on having my fated mate at all costs. You of all people will understand what I’m trying to say.”

“What do you mean? Your situation is nothing like mine. You are in the wrong. Your fated mate already rejected you. Why go after her?”

I recall vividly when his fated mate openly renounced him as her bond mate. She was
