I woke up to my family singing the Happy Birthday song. My mother, father, grandparents and even my brother came into my room at noon with smiles on their faces. Ethan had arrived in the opening while I was asleep.

“Thanks, guys,” I was all smiles as I blew the candles on my cake.

“What did you wish for?” My father asked and I responded with another smile.

“I can’t tell you what I wished for or it won’t come true.”

In truth, I had not wished for anything. Everything that I had wished for in the past, I now had in front of me. A birthday celebration, a family to celebrate with and a body that worked. Everything was much more than I had even wished for. The only thing I wanted in life, to be able to dream of a future with Xander, was impossible so I wished for nothing.

I was happy so I basked in that happiness.

When they excused me to get started for the day, I quickly grabbed my phone and called Xander who had left several missed calls on my cell while I slept.

“Hello?” H

It was the weekend and we were taking a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of college. I would regret it come Monday but it was Saturday, my birthday, and I was going to enjoy it to the fullest without any academic guilt. Instead of going back home and reviewing my notes as always on the weekend, Xander and I chose to watch a movie. We were cuddled up under the sheets as the movie played. It was a movie I did not know what it was about since Xander pulled me into his arms. All I could think about was how lucky I was to be with him. Even if it was for a day, a day with him was better than no day at all. Even if he belonged to someone else, I could enjoy now that he was mine. Yes, he was mine. I was not stealing or borrowing him. In this moment, he was mine, regardless of the future. In this moment, he chose to be mine so there was no need to feel guilty or apprehensive. I would enjoy this moment for as long as I could and not waste another second thinking of what disaster may

The next morning I woke up to kisses on my face and a warm hand rubbing my thigh. My whole body felt stiff and sensitive as my consciousness returned.“Are you awake?” Xander asked, kissing my collarbone. It was a dangerous question and throughout the night, I had learnt just what it meant.“What will you do if I am awake?” I asked in a tired voice. As expected of a male lead, he did not lack stamina. I thought I kept up well but after the fifth round, I was drained. I got less than three hours of sleep throughout the night and every time he touched me and asked if I was awake, at first, I had been excited to indulge but now, I could not move my heavy body.“Can I kiss you then?” As he asked this, his face was already descending.I pushed his face away, ignoring his pout.“That’s enough.” I turned my head away.It always started with a kiss. A kiss that progressed faster than the speed of light and always, always ended with him inside me. No matter how tempting he was, I had to rest m

I believed in Xander. I trusted Xander but this – this rattled me. It made me start thinking, what if. What if he did not truly like me? What if I was just an easy target as Ethan was insinuating? The ‘what ifs’ that I wanted to silence did not agree to be silenced. It was genuine. It had to be genuine. There was no way he could fake – there was no way the affection in his eyes was fake. Xander liked me so I did not have to worry. Yet the little devil on my shoulder asked me why he never mentioned all this to me. The little devil also reminded me of the times when he would randomly mention marking me or how he liked to bite and suck on my neck as if preparing to mark me.“Is it so hard to figure out?” Ethan snorted. “You’ve been obsessed with him your whole life and then you suddenly stopped. There was no guarantee you would not go back to chasing after him if you found out he needed an alpha she-wolf!”&ldqu

In the dream, I wondered if I had gone back to my real life but it was more an out-of-body experience than a de-reincarnation or whatever it was called when a person got reincarnated and then the reincarnation ended. There was no other way for me to explain it for it to make sense but I was Jane again – or I was looking at Jane. Her eyes – my eyes – were glued to the cheap phone I used in my previous life. Her eyes were moving so I knew she was reading. It was the only thing I could do in the hospital anyway since I was already handicapped.‘Look at what she is reading.’It was a voice that I did not know who it belonged to but it compelled me and made me curious so I walked towards Jane – myself – and peered into her screen. I felt a jolt when I saw the name at the top of the page. It was a book – ‘The Alpha’s Omega.’ The title did not stand out in my memories but what struck me was the lines I read as my eyes moved. It was the synopsis of the story. In it, the main character was cal

“Are you finally seeing reason with Dad?” Ethan asked as I entered his car. “And why can’t you take your car? It’s just rotting in the driveway.”“I said already that I’m scared of driving. If you won’t take me then I can just ask Dad.” I looked out the window with a pout.“What’s wrong with you now? Are you really not over Xander?” I felt his eyes on me as he started the car but I refused to look at him. I could not look at him. If I did, I may remember the things I wanted to forget.‘The Alpha’s Omega,’ was one of many books I had read. Its plot did not stand out to me but why now, at this point, did I remember everything, even lines that I had totally forgotten about? Why did I remember the sensation I got when reading it and why, of all the books I had read, did I have to enter this one? While I was reading the book, I had thought of Lily as a pitiful person but I had read books that described abuse explicitly. Lily’s story started when she was in college so the author skipped the

XANDER’S POV‘Mate,’ it was one word my wolf whispered and then he went silent.Unease gnawed at my insides as I looked at the girl who was supposed to be my destiny. For a split second, I felt like I had come into the light but the feeling did not last. I felt mostly uneasy and then annoyance started to grow. Why now? After so long, why now? When I wanted a mate and even prayed for one, when I reached the age where my peers met their mates, I did not have a mate so why now? Why did this girl come out of nowhere now that I was happy with Selene? What did the goddess expect me to do?“Selene,” I turned to the girl by my side and my heart stuttered. She looked – there was no word to describe the look on her face other than devastation. My heart squeezed and my wolf paced, his unease growing. I had done nothing wrong but I felt like the most awful guy in the world then, someone who had taken away something precious from her.“You found your mate,” she spoke with a tight voice. “Congratu

There was no other option than for me to ignore Xander. It was not as if I could stop the inevitable but I wanted to try. I had told myself many times that I would enjoy the time I got to spend with Xander and would let him go to his mate when the time came but it was too soon. It was just the other day that I made this declaration to myself, just the other day I gave myself to him wholeheartedly so why did this woman have to come out of nowhere? Why did she have to come now when I was only starting to bask in Xander’s affections?Against my better judgment, I found myself holding on to him, not wanting to let him go. It was the same thing the Selene in the books would have done and despite vowing not to be like her, I suppose Xander was just too addictive, for me and for her. That morning, I turned on my phone and the first thing I did was check my messages from Xander. It had been three days since he found his mate in the hallway of our dormitory and in those three days, I had avoid

“Selene,” he called my name with a slight hitch in his voice. It made my heart start to pound.I did not know what to expect when I saw Xander again but this was not it. I did not expect him to look so scruffy, his stubble untrimmed and his eyes sunken. It looked like he had been through hell and back in the three days that we were apart. The hope I did not want to entertain brought out its head and made my heart pound even harder, to the point where Xander had to ask this question.“Are you scared?” He asked and all I could do was swallow as I looked at him. “Tell me if you are scared. I am too.” His eyes were hunted, dark and solemn.I missed him. I missed him a lot. My small dorm bed felt a lot bigger without him in it. sleep evaded me and every of my thoughts circled back to him. I felt as if I was drowning without him by my side and as I stared at him, all I wanted was to run into his arms and hug him. I wanted him to comfort me, to tell me that everything would be okay and that

Alphas from all around the world filled the banquet hall making the atmosphere chockful of power. It was no wonder I hadn’t felt even the slightest bit of intimidation after entering this place that reeked of power. I was the Luna here. They were on my land. Grace puffed in satisfaction at that realization.“You did it.” Alpha Liam’s eyes shone with satisfaction as he stared at me. “I knew the goddess would not leave my son to be with an omega. She loves us too much for that.”Xander took a step to block his father’s gaze from me. It was subtle but it was also very obvious because one moment, I could see Alpha Liam’s gaze on me and in the next, I could only see Xander’s back. Alpha Liam laughed at that gesture.“There is the possessiveness of an Alpha,” he said. “Ah, but to think your father would covet your mate. That’s a bit embarrassing, isn’t it?”“Stop looking at her,” Xander growled back.I couldn’t see Alpha Liam thanks to Xander blocking me but I could see his hands as he raise

Even before I opened my eyes, I knew he was staring at me. I could feel his gaze on my face and as my eyes twitched, I wanted to continue to pretend to be asleep.I did it. I opened my mouth and said all the things that had weighed me down. Rather than feeling relieved, I felt guilty. Who would have known that my story would make Xander cry?I thought he’d not believe me, and was even prepared to brush everything off as a joke. What I had not been prepared for was for him to hold me, crying and apologizing. The past was the past and in a sense, didn’t happen. Why did he have to feel so guilty that he’d executed a traitor and gotten with his destined mate?‘That’s why you didn’t want anything to do with me. You were so scared and you were carrying it all alone. You were so scared of the monster that took your life but I didn’t let you be even when you told me to. Even when Lily showed up, you must have been in pain. Y

Something dangerous was bound to happen when meeting up with the bitter ex-mate. I didn’t come here unprepared and wasn’t even surprised when she pulled a gun on me – no, actually, I was a bit surprised. I had expected her to pull a knife or to start attacking me with her fists. I hadn’t really thought a girl like Lily had it in her to pull out a gun and threaten to shoot me.“You should have left him for me.” Her hands were shaking as she held the gun. “You should have had the decency to leave him for me. If you thought of me as a friend for even a second, you should never have been with him. You always looked down on me, didn’t you? You thought I wasn’t good enough but neither are you!” She was shouting, her hands vibrating.I watched her for the right time to disarm her. I wasn’t even sure she knew how to use that gun and I wasn’t about to wait to find out. This bitch wasn’t allowed

“Do you no longer want my son?” Alpha Liam asked and I could only gawk at him.“What do you mean?”“I know how long he thirsted for you while we were at war. I had expected that the first thing he would do when we got back was to mark you but there’s no mark and I know it’s not because he doesn’t want to.”“You can’t just go around asking questions like that,” I said, red in the face. “And aren’t you too invested in his – his extracurricular life?”“I’m only after the future of this pack and I’m looking forward to having grandchildren as well.”“A – Alpha Liam!” I screamed in horror. “You can’t – you can’t say that to a nineteen-year-old!”“Is that so?” He looked flabbergasted. “I said something wrong?”“Xander and I are young! “Hey.”I dropped my bag and flew into Xander’s arms. He chuckled as he caught me, twirling me in the air.“I missed you too.” He muttered against my neck as I clung to him.“Are we invisible or what?” I heard Ethan’s voice from behind him.I raised my head and saw Ethan and my father standing behind Xander. I hadn’t even seen them. My attention had been entirely on Xander alone. Seeing him before me after so long, I just wanted to bask in his scent. I wanted the world to fade away and leave just the two of us. I’d missed him more than words could express but I’d also missed my brother and father.I got down from Xander’s body with a little difficulty as he held on to me, unwilling to let me go. When he finally left me, I rushed to my brother and father, pulling them into a hug. My father trembled as he held me. I held back tears. These were the longest months of my life. Even when I lost my memories and forgot myself, even when I first opened my eyes as Selene after being Jane, even w

“Selene, what are you doing here? No, why do you look like that? Is that blood on your face!?” My mother was almost hysterical when she saw me.Her hands wiped blood from my face. Panic reflected in her gaze and it shook her hands.“When did you return? How did you – what happened?”As she bombarded me with questions, I had no chance to explain what had happened before she broke down in tears, hugging me to herself. My mother was not one to be emotional but the stress and tension from all this must have gotten to her. She cried as she held me.The other women she had been leisurely chatting with came to comfort her, one of them patting my back. It took a while before she let me go and allowed me to explain what had happened.Warriors were sent to the house and my mother started to cry again. It was one of her friends that explained the situation to me.“She left the house a few days ago,” the woman said. “We received threats from the Blood Moon pack and they seemed to be aimed at her

It had become my habit to pace my room. Every time I felt nervous, I paced and I was nervous a lot. The information I got was that everything was going well. There were a lot of casualties but the Blood Moon pack suffered the worst hit. It had been a month already and despite my protests, I had no choice but to return to school. I had only seen Xander a couple of times before resumption but now that I was so far away, I never saw him.Even the college atmosphere was tense. With a lot of wolves from Silver Moon and Blood Moon here, there was a certain tension in the air. Outbursts here and there, people giving backhanded comments to strangers just because they figured out they were from rival packs. No one told me but either Xander or my father had assigned bodyguards to me. They followed me at a distance every day and even Seth had noticed.I was currently pacing my little dorm room which now felt wide without Xander in it. We had scheduled calls that helped reassure me that everythin

  • Surrounded by Wolves   Chapter 93

XANDER’S POVIt was clear that Blood Moon was planning an invasion so it made sense for us to attack first rather than let them come at us and destroy our home. On their land, they would have a greater advantage but on our land, we would be risking everything – our homes included. Selene thought it was best to fight a proxy war but now, all I wanted was to fight on Blood Moon land because I would soon call that land mine. How dare they. How dare they step out of line? How dare Logan target Selene? If I hadn’t been in the car with her that night, things may have escalated as he planned. How dare they look at her and think they could mess with her? How dare they look down on me by trying to abduct my woman? How dare Logan covet my land and my woman. He was a glutton hungry for retribution.Blood Moon had started the attack this morning. Bright and early, I received news that the borders on a completely different side from Blood Moon had been tampered with. They could not breach the bord

The air in the pack was tense the next day. Blood Moon had shown hostility to Silver Moon and now, a war was no longer brewing. It was about to be served. The atmosphere was thick with tension as people whispered under their breaths, waiting for what next was to happen. Even the young children who didn’t know anything were looking left and right as they walked with their parents, their underdeveloped senses already catching on to the disturbance in the atmosphere.“We should strike first,” I said to Alpha Liam. “Don’t let them bring the battle to Silver Moon. We will be losing too much.”I always wanted the battle to pass without bloodshed but it was clear that it was inevitable. Blood Moon had it out for us. The age-long wound between our packs had finally festered to the point where it could not be ignored anymore. The limb had to be cut off.“We should annex the pack,” Xander said. “We can’t continue to live with the threat of such a mediocre pack. Let’s wipe them out once and for
