Selena’s POV

Rain stormed in, and as the door closed behind him, I could hear the echoes of growls and cries, that sent a chill down my spine.

Note to self...

Don’t piss off Rain Blood!

“Sorry for not coming by earlier,” he grumbled and--- and then just dropped himself onto the bed. Before I knew what was happening, he’d pulled down the duvet, leaving me squealing from the sudden cold of the hospital room.

“Rain!”

But he didn’t reply. Instead, he pulled his huge body onto the bed and was snuggling into me, hugging me like I was his goddess damned plushie or something.

“What the---?!” I shrieked, but my voice was meek and breathless. My cheeks heated, and I had to bite back a scream. I’d never had a man in my bed – or this close to me before

Selena's POV“How did you two meet?” I asked instead, shaking my head free of the depressing thoughts of my lost mate. He was dead and nothing could ever bring him back...“When I was banished, I wandered around for a while and ran into a group of rogues,” Rain told me the story. “He was their second in command.”Second in command?!Wait---!“You killed their alpha?” I frowned, glancing up at Rain. No, it didn’t surprise me that Rain had killed someone – I had come to expect it at this point. But---“Isn’t Elijah also an alpha?”Rain nodded--- and grunted annoyed, tugging my head back under his chin. Once there, he hummed his contentment, making me smile. He was so bloodthirsty and ruthless, yet so easy to please, all he wanted was to cuddle...“He doesn’t want to lead,” Rain explained, once he was

Selena’s POV“Ready?” Rain asked, and I didn’t miss the slight excitement in his tone. I was finally moving out of the hospital wing and--- well, my future after that was questionable.“Even if I move into the alpha suite, I won’t be having sex with you!” I stated firmly, crossing my arms over my chest. After two weeks in the hospital wing, I could finally breathe without feeling like my ribs were trying to stab my lungs.Rain didn’t even blink...“Yet,” Rain corrected, and the smirk on his face was downright infuriating. “You won’t be having sex with me yet!”“Stubborn ass, mule!” I groaned as I cursed under my breath. I slammed the last of my toiletries into the small bag of belongings Rain had gathe

Selena’s POVNote to self…When negotiating with a powerful, stubborn, possessive alpha wolf--- keep in mind that their negotiation skills suck! Because the second we stepped outside the hospital, Rain basically strong-armed me into living with him in the alpha wing…Well, his argument of it being safer for me to stay close to him sort of helped…I didn’t like it and yes, I very much felt like I was trading one jail cell for another, but he had a point. As long as the whole pack hated me and wanted me dead, it was safer for me to stick around the few people who didn’t. Although going back there didn’t give me butterflies in the belly feelings either. My father kept me here like an ornament that he could take out and put on a show for all his “friends” and “pack.” Unfortunately, I'd been blessed with a pretty face, and my extraordinary eyes made me look good in man

Selena's POVI went to the dresser and opened the top drawer, looking for my favorite comfort hoodie and leggings. After weeks of hospital gowns and oversized T-shirts, I wanted something that felt more like me. It was one of the few things that I’d been allowed to have of my own since my father didn’t want to be bothered by “feminine business”.Although he stuck his nose in everything else I did – all just to humiliate me!As my fingers glided over the soft fabrics, an unsettling thought suddenly entered my mind. What if Rain had been in here? Had he gone through my things? Had he touched my belongings? Oh my goddess, had he been in here jerking off to my scent?Shit!Suddenly my chest tightened, and my breath came in short, ragged gasps. My hands trembled as I dropped my clothes back into the drawer as if they’d someone burned me.No!No, no, no...Bile ro

Selena’s POVThe silence in the room grew thick as the alpha’s calm demeanor slipped and his wolf’s rage filled the space. I’d seen it happen a million times before and the best thing to do then was to show submission. But if I ever did that--- well, my life would have gone from a living hell to three floors below. So I met his gaze head-on, letting the dominance roll over me. I was lucky in that aspect of not having a wolf, so I didn’t feel the crushing weight of it. It still made my skin tingle uncomfortably, and my stomach tightened in knots...“Who?” he asked, his voice as cold as granite. “Who is he?”He was angry. Understandably, since he’d claimed several times that I was to be his mate. Hearing that someone else had a claim on what he already considered to be his, would piss off--- well, anyone really. But for a werewolf, that was a whole other level of “pi

Selena's POVFucking ass was kissing me!I should struggle against him. It was the right thing to do, I knew it! But in the end, all I could do was feel. Feel the way my body reacted to him. I felt the tenderness of his lips as if they were conveying a secret message from his soul. My toes curled and involuntarily, a moan slipped between my lips. Only it was muffled by his hard lips on mine…It sounded so--- erotic!I should have felt embarrassed. But instead, I found it ignited a fire low in my belly. A fire that only he could quench. A fire that was going to burn me up, unless he--- I wasn’t sure what he could do, but I moved closer to him. I was in physical pain and I needed more of him somehow. And he understood! He moved his arms around my waist and went lower. He caressed my ass-cheek making me squirm. It eased the pain a little, though it wasn’t enough.I needed more!

FAQ: Rejection isn’t a thing in this universe!Selena’s POV“Be-betray?” I stuttered, my mind reeling from the information. “How---? How’s that even possible?”Maybe it was foolish of me to still believe in the mate bond and that it was holy to wolves. Considering that both my father and Rain clearly didn’t want their mates. But even my father loved my mother in his own way--- before he decided that she wasn’t worth his time anymore. And Rain…Well, he claimed that I was his mate. And he treated me like I was the most priceless thing he’d ever set eyes upon. Yet, he’d met his fated mate and claimed that he didn’t want her. That she meant nothing to him, and he didn’t care about her.So why did I still believe that mates loved and cherished each other?Because, despite all of the above, I’d only met my o

Selena’s POVDarkness clung to the towering trees, their gnarled branches twisting like skeletal fingers against the night sky. The only sound was the crunch of dead leaves beneath my shoes and the distant rustling of something unseen. My hair stood on end!Something wrapped around my foot and I swallowed a scream, as I crashed to the ground. Every cell in my body seized up and my fight or flight instinct made my skin prickle. My mind was a jumbled mess as I kicked and clawed my way back to my feet, frantically seeking out the hands that had gripped me…A tree…I’d gotten my foot tangled up in the root of a tree. Exhaling in relief, my hand gripped my chest, physically hurting from the whole ordeal. I’d known that running off into the forest in the middle of the night wasn’t the greatest of plans – especially because I didn’t have a flashlight or night vision – but I

Selena's POVI had no idea where I was, and rather than walking around like a headless chicken, I needed a plan. First things first. If I was going to escape, I needed more information. More precisely, I needed a map and figure out where I was located. And much to my dismay, my best bet was the library--- which I’d just escaped.Stupid!I turned on my heel and, with my heart pounding, I retraced my steps--- and once more nearly ran straight into a pair of guards.Shit!Flattening myself against another doorway, I held my breath as they walked past, their conversation a low murmur. My fingers dug into the wooden frame as I forced myself to stay still. At this rate, I was going to be caught before I really escaped. For now, I’d been lucky. But I didn't know how much longer I could rely on luck or on the scent neutralizer to save my butt.I needed to get my ass into gear or else I was fuck

Selena’s POVMy heart pounded a million miles a minute, as my mind slowly realized what they were planning. Looking back at the door, I wondered if the guards had finally left. I had to get away from here. I had to escape so I could warn Rain!“You know,” the older officer said with a grin I didn’t like and clapped Greg on his shoulder as a fatherly figure would have. “Your father would be proud of you.”So Rain had killed my father’s beta too?I couldn’t say I was too sad to see him go either. My father’s beta hadn’t originally been in on my father’s plans to kill the King and Queen but hadn’t done anything to stop him either. And I didn’t care how much you were stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea, that was just plain wrong!“Thank you, Will,” Greg said, his voice carrying a rare note of sincerity. Which really didn’t say much

Selena's POVNot wanting to risk being spotted by patrols – if they had any – I ducked back behind the curtains and crunching low, I passed it. My mind spun as I desperately tried to figure out where in damnation I was. Why would Rain take me away from the palace, knowing how many people wanted me dead? But then again, I didn’t think Rain would do that…The image of Greg flashed before my mind again.So--- not a dream then!But--- that raised some serious questions for me! As in--- had Greg actually come for me? Why? In all our time together I’d never had gotten the feeling that he--- you know! Well, cared for me! Sure, he’d sometimes been the one to take me back to my room when and if he walked in on my father beating me senseless. But he never stepped in to stop it. Or said anything about it for that matter…Thinking back, I think that my interactions

Selena’s POVI woke up slowly, feeling a strange heaviness in my entire body. As if something was crawling up and down my spine that made my skin itch. I couldn’t really describe it, but the feeling was like something when you wake up from a nightmare you couldn’t remember.Just wrong!Feeling unsettled, I reached out for Rain, wanting to bury my face in his warm chest and cling to him until the feeling went away. But to my surprise, his side of the bed was empty.Had he gone to work already?Against my brain’s advice, I blinked my eyes open, slowly getting used to the light. Only to realize that the light wasn’t the morning sun as I more or less expected, but a pale, artificial light coming from a chandelier hanging overhead. Frowning, I didn’t recognize it! Hell, when looking around I realize that I’d never been in this room in my life…Memories from the day before

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 33: Incompetence

Rain’s POVNo, can’t kill him, I reminded myself, much to my wolf’s dismay. Sure, he was annoying to listen to but he was good with numbers. Numbers were important when you ran a pack. So, no matter how boring accountants were, they were needed. No killing…Which still didn’t make my wolf any happier. He was frustrated that his mate hadn’t realized who we were and that she belonged to us. That she still kept part of herself locked away from us and until she fully opened up to us, we couldn’t claim her. It frustrated him---And that frustrated me!The animal didn’t understand the complexity of the situation. She believed she’d lost her mate even before they were able to recognize each other, and so she needed time to sort through her emotions. And I tried to be understanding…I really did!But I was getting tired of consta

Selena’s POVI smirked conspiratorially, hoping to throw Joey off his game. I shuffled the deck of cards, my fingers moving smoothly over the worn edges. Joey sat across from me at the small wooden table, his expression unreadable with his arms folded over his chest and holding the cards close to his chest. The late afternoon sun cast a golden glow over the courtyard, warming my skin despite the seasonal turn. The trees still clung onto their yellowing leaves as if their lives depended on it. The mountains were turning brown, ans while some might call it a boring and dead color, I liked

Selena's POV“Hey,” I heard from somewhere far away, and I realized that I’d been swallowed up in my own world. “Come back to me.”I looked up--- and smiled when I saw Rain’s worried face. That could make me forget my past and---What my father had done!
