It was a cold night. A really cold night. Lillith felt like she was going to freeze. But that didn't stop her from walking. She drew the cloak around her body. Tight enough to shield her from the cold night.

Her feet moved through cold, wet grass and she tripped a few times before getting to the gates behind the servant's quarters. Everyone was still in the main palace grounds so there was no one to find her when she went missing.

She pulled the iron wrought gates open and slipped out before breaking into a sprint. The air was filled with acrid smoke and the smell of blood and dead bodies. She heard a loud cry and froze on the spot as her heart thumped against her chest. The cry had been so loud that she felt it was close to her.
