Forty Nine

KATHY

I sat right there staring at them as they all paused waiting to hear me talk about the one thing I had always felt insecure talking about.

“Go on, we are listening to you Miss Kathy,” Henry said teasingly, smiling at me.

I could tell he was doing all of this on purpose knowing I never talked about any of that.

“Or you have no one in your life to call a mate?” he asked as I heard the others laugh alongside.

“Stop that Henry!!” Jess shot at Henry who couldn’t keep his mouth shut from laughing hilariously.

Making Alexa so paranoid, as I clenched my fist.

“Who says I have no right to talk about stuff like this?” he said.

“I mean, she obviously has no mate”

“Am I right girl?” he said, laughing out loud.

I had my focus back on my meal, as I aggressively stabbed my plate making the others silent almost immediately.

“Enough!!” I yelled out of the blue.

At this point, everyone in the room stayed silent, staring surprisingly at me, probably wondering why I had reacted in such a manner.
