I opened my eyes partly the minute I heard footsteps coming from down the hallway.

I heard the door creak open afterwards, as I watched Ms. Ella walk into my bedroom with a cup of coffee she walked over to the window blinds pulling them apart and letting in fresh air from outside the window.

A couple of minutes later, I uncovered myself from the sheets staring up at the ceiling and reflecting on all that had happened the day before.

“Breakfast would be ready in five minutes,”

“You might want to have to freshen up before then,” she said smiling at me as she had the cup placed on the bedside table.

I bobbed my head picking up the glass as I sipped gently on it with my eyes closed.

I never had plans of taking a shower before breakfast but then our father was always one to yell at such petty things.

I scrambled up to my feet, seeing how much time I was starting to waste lying in bed.
