Jaselyn's POVWhen I returned to my room the next morning, it was slightly rowdy as the maids were moving Zane's things. So he actually decided to leave, that's good.I was starting to get suffocated with all the emotions he aroused in me but I had to keep bottled up. Now that he's gone, everything will return to normal. We'll only meet each other for the process of procreation and after that, he'll leave. The knowledge of this floods my stomach with unease but I push it aside and let the girls finish moving his things out before proceeding to my morning routine.Today's Saturday so I'm sure Ziarre will have some free time. I should go visit her, I haven't had the chance to yet. I wonder what their house will look like. When Nae arrives, I'm already ready and she apologizes for coming late but I remind her that I'm fully healed now so there would be no need for her to assist me with my basic needs. She seemed a little disappointed so I assured her that I wouldn't hesitate to call her
Jaselyn's POVThe drive to Rion's house was quiet. I kept my eyes focused on the scenery while Zane kept some music playing to perhaps ease the tension.Zane drove the car into a nice neighborhood and eventually stopped the car by a big house.“We're here.” He announced like it wasn't already obvious.“Thank you for the ride.” I thanked him and placed my hand on the door handle, ready to alight from the car.“What’s the rush? I'd like to drop in and say hi to them, remember? It would be better if we went together.” He proposed.“Whatever.” I said and finally got out. Zane turned off the ignition before also leaving the car. He led the way to the front door while I just followed, taking in the surroundings. It was a beautiful place, very tidy and well kept.Zane rang the doorbell and a few minutes later, we heard footsteps approaching before the door finally opened to reveal Rion. He was rightfully surprised to see us.“Zane? Jas? What a surprise.” He breathed out with a smile spreadin
Jaselyn's POV We joined Rion in the waiting room of the hospital. He was a nervous wreck, walking around frantically. I couldn't bring myself to reassure him because I, myself, was absolutely scared of what the verdict would be. Zane stepped in and was able to calm Rion down, even managing to get him to sit.We were all so tense and I found myself counting down the minutes which seemed to span on forever. Finally, the doctor showed up and she did not look happy. It made my stomach drop.Rion accosted her to demand for answers. “Doctor, is she alright? Please tell me my mate is fine.” “She's alright now, I've managed to stabilize her. She's been placed on an IV so she can recover her strength.” The doctor revealed and it almost seemed as if a weight had been physically lifted from Rion's shoulders as they slumped in relief.I could feel the adrenaline start to evaporate from my blood as I sighed in relief.“And the baby?” Rion asked, and I remembered that the battle was only half w
Jaselyn's POVIt's been two weeks since Ziarre underwent the procedure to terminate her pregnancy. The ordeal took a toll on her mental health and she's been depressed. She was given leave from work and she's been staying at home. I've gone to visit her everyday since then but she barely even speaks to me. I've done everything I could think of to cheer her up but nothing's worked so far. What I find to be most disheartening is that Ziarre has also seemed disconnected from Rion.He takes care of her and they talk but the strain in their relationship is evident. I know it must be hard on Rion as well, not only was his dream of becoming a father crushed, it's caused a rift between him and Ziarre in the process.Rion has never been one to push people past their limits so I understand that he's giving Ziarre time to come to terms with everything. I really hope that they can get past this difficult time. I'd give anything to see their smiling faces again– The two of them happy and so hope
Jaselyn's POVI'm utterly taken aback by Zane's confession and I find myself reeling with confusion and disbelief.None of his words make any sense to me, they don't correlate to our situation and my experience. He loves me? If that's true then he sure has a very crazy way of showing it. But I'd be a fool to believe anything Zane says while he's intoxicated. He could very well wake up tomorrow morning and not remember a single thing he said tonight. I won't indulge in something so short lived.I wiggle my hand underwater away from his and stand up. He follows suit, his warm expression turning downcast.“It's getting pretty late, we should head back. I have a lot of work tomorrow so I'd prefer it if I could sleep early. You're also the Alpha, it isn't safe for you to be out this late and intoxicated as well.” I said and turned away, ready to leave the same way we came but he gripped my hand forcefully. It wasn't enough to hurt but the grip was tight and it would be a hassle to break ou
Jaselyn's POVI— I don't know if I can. He grips both of my arms, his eyes pleading for my reply but I just look away.“Jaselyn, please…..” “I don't know what to say, I'm sorry. This is all just too sudden, I need some time to process all of it. There are so many emotions swirling within me right now and I don't know which to lean towards.” I confessed and he nodded.“It’s OK. I'll give you as much time as you need but please don't take too long. I really am serious about not wanting to be away from you for too long. I really hope that you can understand my position and we can work things out together.” He conceded.“I'll try.” I say as I manage a small smile.“Thank you for coming with me and listening to what I had to say, it really means a lot. Please remember that I fully intend to keep my promise about divorcing Isla. Just let me know when you're ready.” He said and I nodded. He finally let go of my arms and we both inhaled the cool air that blew the trees.“We should head back
Jaselyn's POVZiarre's words weigh heavily on my mind as she raises valid points about the complexities of Zane's situation with Isla and her father, Alpha Ezra. It's becoming increasingly clear that the path forward won't be easy, and there are many obstacles that Zane and I will have to navigate if we choose to pursue a relationship.Personally, I'd prefer to stay out of trouble but still….. there's this nagging feeling in my heart that won't go away.I can't keep denying that Zane stirs certain feelings in me, feelings I'd rather not explore. What really is the right choice? I feel so confused right now.“You don't have to look so forlorn, I know you're confused and I'm here to help with that. I didn't tell you all those things just to discourage you from a relationship with Zane.I said that because you're my friend and it's my duty to inform you of any danger I might sense in any path you choose to take. It's true that Isla will be one heck of a problem to deal with but that's no
Jaselyn's POVWhen I return to the palace, I'm surprised to see the place in a frenzy as maids perambulated the halls, cleaning and putting up decorations.Nae luckily happened to be passing by so I pulled her aside to ask.“What's going on? What's with the decorations?” “Oh Luna Isla's birthday is coming up and she wants to throw a big celebration. I overheard her telling some of the maids to make sure the preparations were regal and perfect as she planned to invite her father and a few other Alphas from the neighboring Packs to grace the occasion.” She explained.“Oh, I see. It definitely seems like something Isla would do.” I comment lacklusterly.“She was asking about you, probably wanted to assign some work to you but I told her you weren't feeling well and went to see the doctor.” Nae says with a sly grin and my lips curve to match hers.“Thank you, I'll make it up to you soon.” I promise.“No worries, I really don't want anything. You're still my lady after all, just serving y
