Jaselyn's POV 

With a final squeeze of his hand, we left our room and made our way to Luna Daryna’s, our hearts heavy with the day’s somber duties but buoyed by the strength we drew from each other.

When we arrived at Luna Daryna’s room, Larose was already there, sitting beside her mother. Carol was playing quietly on the floor, her small hands busy with a toy. The mood was poignant but calm. Dressed in mourning attire, Luna Daryna looked fragile but determined. Larose glanced up as we entered, her expression a mix of sadness and relief.

“Jaselyn,” she greeted, her voice soft but steady. “Rion.”

“Larose,” I replied, crossing the room to hug her. “How’s Mother doing?”

“She’s better today,” Larose said, her voice filled with quiet hope. “Still weak, but she’s strong enough to attend the funeral. It’s a small blessing.”
