James
“Are you out of your mind?” Nigel scoffed, “You are crazy if you think I’m getting you back in the station without Romans finding out.”
“Come on,” I said, placing the mug on the counter with a sigh, “All I need is five minutes,” I looked at him.
“You have a wound that hasn’t healed and not to mention you were coming from the hospital. If Romans is to hear all this the same day you got suspended? He will do the same to me.”
“What then?” I asked looking at him, “Clearly Morgan knows something and you know it,” I said pressing both my hands on the counter looking at him. He knew I was right as he set his own mug on the counter shaking his head looking at me as he seemed to be thinking.
“Look,” he said seriously.
Nick I threw a glass on the wall and I could hear Adam’s muffled snicker. It was not as if he was trying to hide a laugh but he was mocking me. My attempt to look intimidating looked wasted on him. It was pissing me off. “Are you done with your little tantrum?” he asked, raising an eyebrow at me, “because I think it’s a little early to be acting this childish. I mean it’s not even noon and you already look drunk. Are you trying to run my company to the ground? Failure is just written all over your face right now,” he laughed. “Laugh all you want,” I smirked, “If you want to see your sister. I suggest you take my deal.” “Come in Nicky,” he smiled, “You have to do better than that,” he shrugged. There was something about the way he sounded sure of himself. I paused thinking before shaking m
Adam “Back so soon?” I smiled but Nick's face wasn’t of someone who looked very pleased to be back as he smiled before he threw a punch on my face that made me go flying back hitting the floor with a thud. “Get him up,” he ordered and I was up again shaking the punch before he punched me again and the chair tilted but I managed to hold it but that was to no avail but he punched me again and the chair hit the floor and I saw stars. “Gahh,” I muffled, blinking. “Bring him up,” he ordered. He sounded angrier than his usual self. I tried to shake off the dizziness. I looked at him, “Where is it?” He asked. “Where is what?” I coughed, spitting blood. I fixed my jaw. Those punches did hurt. “Try again,
James I was waiting for the media to disperse so I could get into Morgan’s mansion and speak to him. It seemed as though people were still waiting for them to come out again and give another statement. I was tapping on my steering wheel as I waited. Maybe it was a good idea to wait until the people were gone. This is not how I pictured my day would go but I needed information that I knew Morgan would provide. I began thinking of Kioni and how she was doing. I hoped she would wake up soon and help. I hated that Nick was close to her after causing her such harm. I began thinking about everything from the beginning when I met her. The day at the office she looked so beautiful the way she smiled and talked to me. I want that to happen once again. I long for a call to hear she was up and talking again. I wonder who she would call fir
Morgan “I must say I’m surprised you are only showing up now,” I smirked as I watched James walk in looking like he had other things to do than being here. “I would have been here sooner but you seem to draw a lot of attention,” he replied. “Well, what can I say? I'm popular,” I say, extending my hand out, gesturing to him to have a seat and he did. “What is your deal?” he asked, leaning forward on his seat as he clamped his hands together looking at me seriously. “What do you mean?” “You know exactly what I mean. You are innocent and have evidence and yet you want to be treated like a suspect.” “Is this an interrogation?” I interrupt as James shifts
James I was hopeful when Morgan mentioned her and smiled at me. My heart stopped as I attentively looked at him waiting. I had waited so long to hear that she was awake that I wanted to get out of my seat and run to the hospital. I didn’t care that it was late at night to have a visit. I wanted to see her. See her beautiful face and those gorgeous big brown eyes of hers. “Not yet,” Morgan finally responded and my face fell, “I know she will wake up eventually,” he gave me a genuine smile as I nodded. “So who is this person?” I asked, leaning back on my seat. “Her name is Lara,” Morgan said as if I knew her. “I don’t know her,” I looked at him as he took a while to respond. Thinking. “She was a fl
Nick I have no idea how my father handled this business and dealt with personal life. After everything that happened with Adam all I wanted was to beat the shit out of him until he told me who was helping him. Instead of sitting here going through paperwork I needed to find that damn bracelet. I needed to have a chat with my father. I hated that after everything I never knew about this. “Dani, bring me a coffee,” I spoke after pressing the intercom but there was silence, “DANI,” I shouted through the com again before I heard a knock, “ENTER,” I spoke a little annoyed as Dani walked in. “If you don’t have coffee, get out,” I said. “Uhh, th -there is someone here for you,” I shifted. “I don’t have time to see anyone. Get me my coffee and go home,” I waved a hand at her as I looked down at t
Nick I was happy with my visit to the hospital. Seeing her always puts me in a great mood. As it was late, I never went back to the office. Tomorrow is when I will deal with everything else. I was glad to go home and see my father. We had a lot of things to discuss and he had to tell me about the bracelet. “Nick,” I heard a shout as my car was driving in. “Nick,” Judy shouted. “Stop the car,” I said. The car stopped and rolled down my window. Judy came running before she huffed at me. She could be angry all she wanted, but it was useless. She didn’t have any right to be on my property after she left that day. I meant what I told her. “You are not even going to get out. What are you doing?” She asked, “They won’t let me in to see dad. I
Harper My brother being suspended was the worst. It’s not even a week and he has almost destroyed the house in the name of managing. The worst is that he is like a wait at home dad, and he wants to monitor my every move too. It was annoying as hell. “Where are you going?” James caught me by the steps with a pan in hand. “Out,” I responded, looking at him, “What are you cooking,” I frowned with a sigh. “When will you be back?” he asked, stirring the blob in the pan. “I don’t know James. It’s Saturday and just after twelve. Later, maybe,” I shrugged as I rolled my eyes. “Not before the sun comes down,” he pointed with a spoon. “I’m not a child,”
KioniTrue happiness is what I felt. We were sitting having breakfast before the guys left the table, one after the other. It was all so weird. I looked around the table and everyone seemed to be oblivious. I wanted to go check what was happening outside, but the girls stopped me and began having a conversation about what we had for our dinner last night.“I should get the recipe and make this for Wayne.”“I’m not a skilled cook, but I loved the sauce.” Dani added.“That meat was so tender.” Gaby smiled.“Mhh, it was melting in my mouth.” Faith chided.“Faith ate for two.” Harper laughed&ldq
HarperA few months later,I had made some progress and was ready for this holiday. Tomorrow is going to be a big day. I looked at my suitcases and gleefully smiled.“Harper!”“Coming,” I shouted. I ran down the stairs. “What?” I scoffed.Sam has been my bodyguard. This was not by choice. It was annoying. I preferred the other guard, though I don’t remember his name. He never talked much. Unlike Sam, who takes every chance to speak.“You have a visitor,” he said. “Make it quick. We have to leave soon. I’m not getting in trouble because of you.”“
AdamWith my injured leg and James’ injured shoulder, we almost struggled to keep Harper steady. Her strength was almost impossible to rear.“Thank you.” James said with a sigh.“Don’t mention it.”“It’s over.”“Yeah, it is,” I said, looking at the car where Nick was.“I should go with her to the hospital.”“I’m right behind you.” I nodded.James and my sister left with Harper in the same ambulance. Sebastian, Morgan and Gaby had also gone ahead. We were all being taken to Dawson Hospital
SebastianLesson learnt. Nick was just as canny as his father. He kept surprising me. He had an army. Over twenty men, I'm sure. He knew we were coming. He was prepared. I didn’t do enough to catch him. I should have followed the money theory harder. If I was aware of how vigorous he was, things would have been different. We wouldn’t be in this situation. Nick was worse than his father.“You two stay here. Help is almost here. I have to get in there.”“Don’t get killed,” Adam said.“Be careful,” Nigel said.I gave them both a nod and moved. I was a little rusty, but I prayed I could manage. I ran inside, dodging all the bullets. Before I got in, I saw him ducking his head. Nigel had my back.
NickHiring people to take Kioni to the mansion was a plan in the works for a long time. All the months of planning and watching from afar were necessary. I was going to take Kioni either way. She belonged to me. They all underestimated me. Underestimating the love I felt for her. She was mine, and I was going to make it crystal clear.Everything was set. I was prepared for a fight. One of two things was going to happen. Kioni was going to come to me or I was going to go take her. No army of guards was going to stop me because I had an army of my own. An army I spent a lot of money on and they were the best.Charles taught me one thing that stuck with me. Being resourceful and passionate enough to grasp the moment. My moment was now staring at me. They really made it easy for me. We were going to get married. She looked stunning in that
HarperThey always sideline me. As much as they were, I was involved in this as well. I would be devastated if something happened to Kioni or Gaby. I was actually devastated. That’s why when they were leaving, I followed them.I jumped into Morgan’s car with the bodyguard. He didn’t even know his boss had left with the others when I told him to drive. We were not really seeing eye to eye because the drive started off in an argument.“You know you are going to get me in trouble,” he eyed me with the corner of his eye.“I don’t care. Just drive.” I yelled.“I don’t even know where they went.” he yelled back.“They must have driven pa
KioniMy head hung low from a chair. I opened my eyes and looked around. My hands were chained to a chair. I sat straight and looked around.“Gaby!” I shouted. She was lying on the floor. “Gaby. Wake up.”“You are awake,” Nick emerged from behind me. “How do I look?”“What are you doing?” I asked him, “What did you do to her?”“Come on, Kiki,” he laughed, “This is what we always wanted.”“I don't want this.” I creased my face in disgust. “I know everything you did to me.”“I did nothing you didn’t want.” he walked a
MorganMy phone was ringing, but it was not on the nightstand. It was ringing somewhere on the floor close to the door; I think. My head was pounding like crazy. Someone shaking me made me open my eyes. I blinked a couple of times, hoping the room would stop spinning.I stumbled off the bed and looked around. There were two women in my bed and one on the floor. I did not know what was going on. The ringing was so loud. All I wanted was to go back to bed. Sleep off the dizzy.“Make it stop.” the woman on the floor stirred.I moved to find my phone. I had no idea what the hell was happening. When I got my phone, I almost threw it on the floor. I wanted to hurl. I scrunched and answered the call.
SebastianThe shouting inside was hurting my ears even as I stood outside smoking. I don’t even know how they all ended up shouting like that. They have all drifted, of course, from the actual issue.Morgan’s idea made sense. Nick would do anything to get to Kioni. All this time we had focussed on that factor. We had her protected at all times that it was difficult for him to try something. That’s why he easily spotted the weaker spot.Harper.How many weak spots could he see? I drew a big puff and stared at nothing. I wish I could drown all the noise. Prison was usually peaceful at this time of the night. Their annoying fighting was actually making me miss the serenity.“I thought you had gone home,” I to
