Angelica’s POV To my surprise, when the chattering stopped among our guests, they turned back to us and a different man stepped forward. “If what you are telling us is true, then we have no other choice then to fight. This vampire that you speak of has already left a path of destruction in this city. His men have been threatening us for months now, and we sat back waiting for our Prince to do something about it. I was just a boy when your greatest grandfather was our Prince, but I remember him being a great man, full of compassion for his kind and those of other creations of the Gods. I can see his compassion in you, and for you to step forward to help us, when the man responsible for your greatest grandfather’s fall isn’t here to help us, speaks volume for your character. For that reason, I will pledge my allegiance to you, and I will follow you into battle.” Slowly, one by one, our guest began to step behind the man, as if to pledge their own allegian
Angelica’s POV “Angelica, we don’t have time for this.” Joffrey whispers to me as my eyes stare at the vampire sitting in the corner of the room, and I know that he is right, but I can’t help but feel responsible because I was the one that insisted that we take the grimoire. Looking back at Joffrey, I could tell that he was already overwhelmed with forming an army, and thinking about what was to come, as I too could feel the pressure of everything, but I couldn’t just walk away from this, knowing their blood would be on my hands. “Then let me take care of it while you take care of preparing the army.” “Oh, hell no. For all we know this could be a trap, Angelica.” He said to me, and once again I realized that he could be right, but as my eyes moved back to the vampire, I could clearly see the worry in his eyes. “And if it’s not a trap and innocent lives are lost because of me, I could never live with myself.” I explained t
Angelica’s POV “Get to the elevator.” I told Mr. Thomas’s family with urgency in my voice, as I kept my shield up until I had them inside it. Hitting the button for the basement, I could see the fear in their eyes as Carrie cries out to her father.Looking Carrie in the eyes, I make a promise to her that I pray I can keep. “I promise your father will be okay.” Before I turned to Mrs. Thomas and said, “Wait for us in the basement.” The elevator doors slowly began to close, and once the doors were shut and I knew his family was safe, I allowed my shield to drop, as I called upon my powers and turned around to face the two vampires that now had a hold of Mr. Thomas. Mr. Thomas was doing his best against two of his kind, but it was two against one, and they had the upper hand on him. But Mr. Thomas wasn’t giving up, and as he freed himself from the one vampire, I took that as my opportunity to send a bolt of my power flying towards him, send
Joffrey’s POV With all the preparations made for our army, I wanted to spend what little time I had before tomorrow with Angelica, but as I searched the house for her, I realized that she wasn’t here. My mind instantly went back to the last conversation that we had, and I had no doubt that she disobeyed my wishes. I should have known by the look in her eyes that she wasn’t going to let this go, as I thought that we had an understanding, but I guess I should have known better when it came to her. Angelica had a heart of gold, which was her biggest weakness, as she would obviously put her life in danger if that meant saving someone. Grabbing a few of her uncle’s men, I raced to my vehicle, knowing that she must have left directly after our conversation, and by now there was no telling what trouble she had gotten herself into. Worry began to consume me that she had walked into a trap, but at least we had the vampires name, which I was quick
Angelica’s POV I thought that my life had ended in that parking garage, as I felt myself drifting away, while the heavens above opened their gates to me. Even as I began to cough, I still believe that what I saw was real, and that she was truly there with me, placing her hand over my heart, blessing me with her love. But as my eyes slowly began to open, and I saw his face, I knew that I had been spared, and that my mission here wasn’t finished. “Angelica, that’s it, baby, cough it all out.” Joffrey’s nurturing words say to me, as I feel like I am coughing out a lung from all the dust I had taken in, while I try to sit up. As his protective arms wrap around my body, I couldn’t help but lean into his chest, grateful that I was still alive and in his arms. I would have thought that he would be furious with me for disobeying his wishes, but here he was comforting me. “Here. Take a sip.” He now says to me, as he moves a glass
Angelica’s POV I honestly didn’t want morning to come, as I knew what came with it. For days now, all I wanted to do was to find a way to stop the heir, and take him down, but now knowing that we were marching towards him, I wasn’t so sure of myself. Even though I now had the power of the sunstone, along with my own powers, making me even more powerful, I didn’t know if it was enough, or should I say, I was enough to defeat him. Laying here now in Joffrey’s arms, I realized that I was so wrong thinking that being mated to someone was going to tie me down to a world I didn’t feel like I belonged in, because now in his arms, I finally felt like I had found where I belonged. Joffrey’s body stirred beneath my own, as he slowly awakened from his slumber. “How long have you been awake?” He mumbles at me, still half asleep, as his eyes begin to open to look at me, and I knew there was no way I could hide that I was wide awake. I
Angelica’s POV I hated the fact that Joffrey’s pack was being forced to get involved, but I had to realize that they now were my pack too. As Joffrey brings his vehicle to a halt in front of his estate, his parents awaited us at the door. To my surprise, I was greeted with open arms by his mother, as she welcomed me to the family. As for his father, he was demanding that Joffrey take the complete role as Alpha of the pack. I knew that this wasn’t what Joffrey wanted, as he wanted to travel the world first, but now with our current situation, his hands were now tied, and if we wanted his pack to stand behind us, then he had to take the position. It was a sacrifice I wish he didn’t have to make because of me, but he assured me that this fight was just as much his as it was mine. As the two of them went to address their warriors, Joffrey’s mother asked to speak to me, alone. Following her into a study, she shut the door behind us, before sh
Joffrey’s POV As I stood in front of Blood Stone pack warriors, gathered and ready to go to battle, for me, I realized that my dreams of traveling the world were now and would forever remain just that, a dream. Fate had other plans for me, and even though I wasn’t quite sure what that fully entitled, I couldn’t run from it any longer. While my father passed the torch of being Alpha to me in front of the warriors of our pack, I felt the Alpha wolf inside of me come to life. Being born an Alpha was one thing, but accepting the role of Alpha was another, and as I accepted the role, I could feel the responsibility of it now on my shoulders, along with a newfound strength coursing through my being. Along with Angelica’s blood still in my system, and this newfound strength that I was feeling, I couldn’t help but feel like I could take on the world, but I knew that feeling I was having was just the Alpha inside of me wanting to lead his warrio
Angelica’s POV Looking all over the house for Joffrey, I was surprised when I finally found him, sitting on the back patio with Raven, staring out into the backyard where the vampires were making camp. It wasn’t until I spotted Ambrogio did I realized why the two of them were out there sitting, and even though my father had told me he was going to have Raven keep an eye on him, he must have already set that plan in action before he announced it to me. Nevertheless, Raven was keeping his distance, only watching from afar, and I honestly didn’t think that was a bad thing the night before we were to save those that I loved, needing to make sure that the sunstone remained in my possession. Consumed in their conversation, neither of them noticed my presence until I moved around Joffrey taking a seat on his knee, now needing more than ever to feel his arms wrapped around me. Raven let out a chuckle as I did so, and my head turned to look at hi
Angelica’s POV Thankfully my father nor my Uncle Bishop stood in my way of telling the witches who I truly was, and to be honest when I sat them all down and told them, it was like a weight had been lifted off my chest.A lot of them now could see why Selena had spent so much time with me, and why she had invested all the years she had spent with my family. They all knew now that Selena played a secret role in keeping their coven safe all these years, as it was the first time in many moons that they didn’t have to worry about other species threatening them. Also, it made them see the importance of keeping the peace that we had for the last eighteen years with my Uncle Tristan as the Prince of the vampires. None of us wanted things to go back to the way things were before he took reign, and to be honest, I didn’t even have to try and convince them to help us, as Selena’s coven could easily see the importance of what needed to be done. The only problem was the spell that
Angelica’s POV “Where is Selena?” My father asked entering the room, as I sat on the floor, now engulfed in tears, not knowing what to do. “It seems that the heir has taken her too.” Joffrey tells my father, as my father puts his hand out for the wall for support, just as bewildered as I was on where to go from here, especially since they had Selena, the only person that we both knew who could help us. “I just don’t know why he took them. Their blood is of no value to him, and neither is yours now that you are mated.” My father now says, as he moves to take a seat, while I can see his wound has once again opened, as blood slowly seeped down his side. Trying to find my voice, I sniffle back my tears, before I finally admit to him, “It’s not their blood that he wants.” “Then what is it that he wants, Angelica? Tell me and I will give him whatever he wants to get your mother back.” Shaking my
Angelica’s POV As the ashes from the heir’s army settled completely to the ground in front of me, and our frontlines of defense made their way back into position, I stepped forward knowing that I now had to find the heir. His army was now almost obsolete, and what was left of them I could see retreating, making me realize that our army was out of harm’s way for the meantime. Making my way with Raven by my side through our frontlines of defense, I began to scan the area, trying to seek where the heir could be hiding, but there were completely no signs of him, making me believe that he too had retreated. As we came to the center where the heir’s army once stood, Raven began to growl, as the ashes began to move dead center in front of us. Raising my hands, I waited for whoever survived the surge of power to show themselves, as fear hit me that it could very well be the heir. But as multiple bodies began to rise from the ashes, I realized th
Angelica’s POV “Raven!” I called out, as the dust began to settle in front of me, showing the mass destruction of my powers, as I prayed to my greatest grandmother, that I didn’t kill my cousin in the process of trying to save myself from the heir’s men. The once green vegetation in front of me was now covered in the dust of the vampires’ remains, as not a single survivor remained. My heart began to race in my chest, as I called out once again to Raven, while I began to move towards where he had been standing when I had sent the blast of my powers straight towards him and the heir’s men. The chaos behind me now sounded muffled, as my head felt like it was beginning to spin, thinking that I had just recklessly used my powers, killing my cousin. But as I moved towards where he was standing the dust that coated the ground began to move, making me freeze in my tracks, not knowing if it was Raven or one of the heir’s men that had survived.
Joffrey’s POV The heir’s army was gaining ground, as they had busted through the protection shield and the gates of Angelica’s father’s estate, and I was trying to do my best to help hold them, allowing Angelica and Selena enough time to reverse the spell of the telus. But it was clear that the heir had utilized his time regrouping, coming up with a strategic plan to infiltrate the estate, taking us all by surprise. Alpha Bishop was doing his best with his warriors to take down as many of the heir’s men that he could, but there were far too many of them, making him have to allow small groups at a time through. His warning howl echoed through the land, warning the second line of defense that they were coming, and I prayed that our second line of defense could handle them, as they were the only thing now standing in the way of the heir’s men reaching Angelica. My greatest grandfather on the other hand had disappeared once the gates came do
Angelica’s POV Stepping outside the protective walls of my father’s house, I froze in shock at the chaos that was happening on the front lawn, as the heir’s army had made their way through my father’s gates. The witches and warlocks were holding their own against the vampires, and the wolves were in full blown battle mode, scattered out on the entirety of the front lawn, holding the vampires from making their way to the house. Joffrey nor my father were no where in sight, making me believe that they were on the frontlines with my Uncle Bishop, trying to hold off the heir from entering. I knew that I had to get to them, but there was no safe direct path to make it there. Taking a deep breath, I composed myself, knowing that I had to make it passed a battlefield if I was going to make it to the frontlines where they were. Calling upon my powers, I raised my hands in front of me, before I began to make my way down the steps, knowing that on
Angelica’s POV It didn’t take long for Talon to come walking in the room, as I stood beside Selena while she went over the spell with me, knowing that it was going to take all three of us to reverse the spell that Alatar had placed on the telus. I personally had never seen such a complex spell as the one we were about to perform, but I knew that Selena knew what she was doing and had faith in her to guide me through it. “Just in time.” Selena says to Talon, as she grabs the potion she had made, while she ushers for me to retrieve the candles placing them in a circle like she had told me to do. As I placed the candles in the circle, Talon moved to stand to the north, as Selena moved the potion to the center taking her place to the south, while I moved between the two of them to the east. When we were all in our places, Selena says, “Whatever happens, don’t break the circle.” She then turned to face me, before she says, “I
Joffrey’s POV “How is this even possible?” I asked, stepping away from Angelica, towards my greatest grandfather, now alive and well standing before me. “It seems the heir’s blood wasn’t the only thing trapped inside the sunstone.” Angelica confesses to me, making Ambrogio’s eyes move from my own to her. I had my suspicions that his soul was somehow bonded to the sunstone, but I never would have imagined that he was literally trapped inside of it.“The heir’s blood?” Ambrogio asks, as if he was confused, which he probably was, since it has been many moons since he was imprisoned, and so much has changed since then. “Tyler, the vampire that had imprisoned you is dead, by my mother’s hands, but he left behind a son, which is whose blood was trapped inside the sunstone with you.” Angelica explains to him, trying to get him up to date with what is going on here now at the present time. “Tyler’s dead.” He now said,
