Angelica’s POV “Mmm…” Hummed from my lips, as I snuggled closer into the warmth, while protective arms wrap around me, pulling me in even tighter. My body had never felt so at rest, as it did right now, and the sound of a steady beating heart acted as a melody in my ear, soothing my restless soul. I knew whose arms I was in, and I knew whose heart I was listening to, but by the sounds of it, he was still fast asleep, and I wanted to marvel in the way he was making me feel before I ultimately pulled away. Last night things between us almost broke the boundaries of our friendship, and it probably would have if it hadn’t been for what he had whispered to me. It made me wonder if it was a sign from the heavens above that we shouldn’t cross that line, but if I was being honest with myself, I wanted it just as badly as he did. As the morning sun began to peek through the slit in the curtains, Joffrey began to stir, and I quickly went to pull f
Angelica’s POV I wanted to run after him, and explain everything to him, but Joffrey’s grandmother wrapped her arm around mine, steering me towards the kitchen, as she says to me, “He will be back soon, child. He just needs time to compute what he just learned. It’s a lot for one to find out about their mate, especially when its not the mate that revealed it.” I was just about to protest to her, but she once again stops me by saying, “I understand why you kept it from him, as it must be hard not knowing who in this world you can trust, but my Joffrey is a good boy, and he would never bring harm to you. You must already know that though.” She was right, I knew Joffrey would never intentionally hurt me. If anything, he had risked his life to protect me, and there were so many times that I wished that I could have told him my secret, but I refrained myself from doing so. Now that the cat was out of the bag, there were no more secrets on my
Angelica’s POV “You heard me right child.” Joffrey’s grandmother said, just before the tea kettle began to whistle, making her stop her story as she moves to the stove to turn it off, while I sat there processing it all. If Selene was truly the daughter of Zeus, then that would make her related to me, and if she was Joffrey’s greatest grandmother, then the two of us would be related. “Oh, my Goddess, I almost slept with my greatest of cousins.” I thought to myself, as my stomach once again began to turn, and I placed what was left of the strip of bacon back onto my plate, while Joffrey’s grandmother moved back to my side, handing me a cup of tea.“Now where was I...” She said, as she took her seat next to me, before she says, “Ah, Selene, that’s right. When Selene got to the bad part of the city, it didn’t take long for the witches and the warlocks to sense her demigod blood flowing through her veins, and before she knew it, she was surrounded by them.
Angelica’s POV “I need to find Joffrey.” I said to his grandmother, as I stood from my seat, knowing that I had to make things right with him, especially knowing now that we weren’t related but that it was my family who had brought so much pain to his greatest grandfather.I didn’t want him to have to go through what his grandfather had, loving a woman he could never be with. There was no doubt now in my mind why the two of us were brought together, and these feelings that I was having towards him were wrong for me to keep locked away from him.“But Angelica, I haven’t finished the story.” Joffrey’s grandmother called out to me, as I raced towards the front door, and even though I wanted to hear more of her story, my need to make things right with Joffrey right now was more important to me.“I’m sorry, but we will have to finish the story later.” I apologized to her, as I raced outside the house, praying that I could find him.Stepping off the porch, a gust of wind shi
Angelica’s POV My wolf was doing her best to keep up with the creature, but as the mountain stood now in front of us, we both knew that eventually we were going to have to cross back over the river if we wanted to stop the creature before it got to Joffrey. I began to rack my brain at that moment, trying to figure out a way to stop the beast, as it was clear that my Goddess power had no negative effect on it, making me now believe that the creature was sent by the Gods, but why. The only thing that I knew about the creature was that it didn’t like water, as I was sure that the flame that fueled it would die, ultimately killing the beast itself. Unfortunately, I didn’t know the land here, to know where I could lead it away from Joffrey to a major source of water. As the river steered to the right, and the creature began to ascend the mountain that I was sure was towards Joffrey, my wolf let out another warning howl to Joffrey, before she
Angelica’s POV Thick fog now plagued the air around us as we neared the lake’s shoreline, impairing my wolf’s vision to see acrost it. It was apparent that the creature’s body was still beneath the water’s surface, causing the fog to enhance at the rate it was. My wolf let out a howl, and it echoed through the valley, rippling off the surface of the lake, as if she was calling out to Joffrey. Silence filled the air around us, as we both waited to hear him reply, but nothing came, and my wolf dropped to the ground, while her pain became my own. As my heart felt like it was breaking into two, I felt my wolf beginning to retreat, allowing me to shift back into my human form without asking her, telling me that she sensed something was gravely wrong. Standing there now in my human form, I stared out into the lake, as I grabbed ahold of the sunstone around my neck, praying to Selene to allow me to use its power to save Joffrey from the depts o
Angelica’s POV “Oh my, what happened to the two of you?” Joffrey’s grandmother asked, as we walked onto her front porch, both naked and covered in dirt, dripping wet from the pouring rain, and this was not how I wanted her to see me. “We were attacked by a creature not from this world.” Joffrey tells her, and her eyes widen as she moves her hand to cover her mouth, while Joffrey motions for me to enter the house, and I quickly head for the stairs, needing to wash myself clean and put on a set of fresh clothes. Heading straight for the bathroom, I hopped into the shower, letting the hot water run down over my head, allowing it to warm my flesh, as I closed my eyes and leaned against the wall, wondering how I was going to find the strength to get through this. Just days ago, I thought I had the power within me to stop this, but the more I learn, the more I realize that the power I have within me is so minute compared to what we are up agai
Joffrey’s POV For many moons my family couldn’t understand how my greatest grandfather had lost the challenge by Angelica’s uncle, or should I now say his brother, as ruler, but now it was all making sense to me. If what Angelica was saying was true about what he had done to her ancestors for their power that lies within their blood, then he had stolen the crown from my greatest grandfather and my family, just as this heir was trying to do. As Angelica continues to finally tell me the truth about her family, I began to realize this wasn’t just Angelica’s fight. The two of us were brought together for a reason, and it was so much more than just a mate bond, as I began to realize that it was fated by the Moon Goddess to undo what injustice had been done. With Angelica’s mother taking the life of the vamp responsible for taking the crown from my greatest grandfather, it had reset the wheel of time, and our destinies of our two families bein
Angelica’s POV “Where is Selena?” My father asked entering the room, as I sat on the floor, now engulfed in tears, not knowing what to do. “It seems that the heir has taken her too.” Joffrey tells my father, as my father puts his hand out for the wall for support, just as bewildered as I was on where to go from here, especially since they had Selena, the only person that we both knew who could help us. “I just don’t know why he took them. Their blood is of no value to him, and neither is yours now that you are mated.” My father now says, as he moves to take a seat, while I can see his wound has once again opened, as blood slowly seeped down his side. Trying to find my voice, I sniffle back my tears, before I finally admit to him, “It’s not their blood that he wants.” “Then what is it that he wants, Angelica? Tell me and I will give him whatever he wants to get your mother back.” Shaking my
Angelica’s POV As the ashes from the heir’s army settled completely to the ground in front of me, and our frontlines of defense made their way back into position, I stepped forward knowing that I now had to find the heir. His army was now almost obsolete, and what was left of them I could see retreating, making me realize that our army was out of harm’s way for the meantime. Making my way with Raven by my side through our frontlines of defense, I began to scan the area, trying to seek where the heir could be hiding, but there were completely no signs of him, making me believe that he too had retreated. As we came to the center where the heir’s army once stood, Raven began to growl, as the ashes began to move dead center in front of us. Raising my hands, I waited for whoever survived the surge of power to show themselves, as fear hit me that it could very well be the heir. But as multiple bodies began to rise from the ashes, I realized th
Angelica’s POV “Raven!” I called out, as the dust began to settle in front of me, showing the mass destruction of my powers, as I prayed to my greatest grandmother, that I didn’t kill my cousin in the process of trying to save myself from the heir’s men. The once green vegetation in front of me was now covered in the dust of the vampires’ remains, as not a single survivor remained. My heart began to race in my chest, as I called out once again to Raven, while I began to move towards where he had been standing when I had sent the blast of my powers straight towards him and the heir’s men. The chaos behind me now sounded muffled, as my head felt like it was beginning to spin, thinking that I had just recklessly used my powers, killing my cousin. But as I moved towards where he was standing the dust that coated the ground began to move, making me freeze in my tracks, not knowing if it was Raven or one of the heir’s men that had survived.
Joffrey’s POV The heir’s army was gaining ground, as they had busted through the protection shield and the gates of Angelica’s father’s estate, and I was trying to do my best to help hold them, allowing Angelica and Selena enough time to reverse the spell of the telus. But it was clear that the heir had utilized his time regrouping, coming up with a strategic plan to infiltrate the estate, taking us all by surprise. Alpha Bishop was doing his best with his warriors to take down as many of the heir’s men that he could, but there were far too many of them, making him have to allow small groups at a time through. His warning howl echoed through the land, warning the second line of defense that they were coming, and I prayed that our second line of defense could handle them, as they were the only thing now standing in the way of the heir’s men reaching Angelica. My greatest grandfather on the other hand had disappeared once the gates came do
Angelica’s POV Stepping outside the protective walls of my father’s house, I froze in shock at the chaos that was happening on the front lawn, as the heir’s army had made their way through my father’s gates. The witches and warlocks were holding their own against the vampires, and the wolves were in full blown battle mode, scattered out on the entirety of the front lawn, holding the vampires from making their way to the house. Joffrey nor my father were no where in sight, making me believe that they were on the frontlines with my Uncle Bishop, trying to hold off the heir from entering. I knew that I had to get to them, but there was no safe direct path to make it there. Taking a deep breath, I composed myself, knowing that I had to make it passed a battlefield if I was going to make it to the frontlines where they were. Calling upon my powers, I raised my hands in front of me, before I began to make my way down the steps, knowing that on
Angelica’s POV It didn’t take long for Talon to come walking in the room, as I stood beside Selena while she went over the spell with me, knowing that it was going to take all three of us to reverse the spell that Alatar had placed on the telus. I personally had never seen such a complex spell as the one we were about to perform, but I knew that Selena knew what she was doing and had faith in her to guide me through it. “Just in time.” Selena says to Talon, as she grabs the potion she had made, while she ushers for me to retrieve the candles placing them in a circle like she had told me to do. As I placed the candles in the circle, Talon moved to stand to the north, as Selena moved the potion to the center taking her place to the south, while I moved between the two of them to the east. When we were all in our places, Selena says, “Whatever happens, don’t break the circle.” She then turned to face me, before she says, “I
Joffrey’s POV “How is this even possible?” I asked, stepping away from Angelica, towards my greatest grandfather, now alive and well standing before me. “It seems the heir’s blood wasn’t the only thing trapped inside the sunstone.” Angelica confesses to me, making Ambrogio’s eyes move from my own to her. I had my suspicions that his soul was somehow bonded to the sunstone, but I never would have imagined that he was literally trapped inside of it.“The heir’s blood?” Ambrogio asks, as if he was confused, which he probably was, since it has been many moons since he was imprisoned, and so much has changed since then. “Tyler, the vampire that had imprisoned you is dead, by my mother’s hands, but he left behind a son, which is whose blood was trapped inside the sunstone with you.” Angelica explains to him, trying to get him up to date with what is going on here now at the present time. “Tyler’s dead.” He now said,
Angelica’s POV My body was frozen in place, as I continued to stare into the sunstone, realizing that the heir’s blood wasn’t the sole cause of the pulse that beat in the center of it, as it now looked like it had a heart of its own. At first, I felt fear, but that fear was slowly disappearing as I began to feel a source of energy from the sunstone entering my body. As that energy seeped from the sunstone into the tips of my fingers, making its way up my arms and to my heart, I began to feel an immense feeling of love washing through me like a tidal wave. Of course, I thought it was Selene’s love, making me close my eyes, as I began to welcome it into my heart, but as I welcomed the love into me, I realized it wasn’t her love I was welcoming. Tyler’s voice at that moment begins to echo in my head, as he says, “Only my blood shall release you, combined with the love of her soul.
Angelica’s POV Holding the sunstone in my hand, I tried to focus on the tiny little speck in the middle of it pulsating, but I was finding it hard to do so with all the chaos going on outside. “Focus Angelica.” Selena says to me, as she hovers over me, making it even harder for me to focus, with all the pressure that was now on my shoulders, and the thought of Joffrey out there on the frontlines. Leaving out a growl of frustration, I lowered the sunstone from my view, before I said, “I don’t know if I can do this.” While tears began to pool in my eyes, knowing that so many lives were counting on me, but here I was unable to pull myself together. For some reason, my mind was still stuck on Mrs. Thomas, and how I wasn’t strong enough to keep her safe. It was a brutal reminder to me that I wasn’t as strong as I once thought that I was, and right now, there was so many lives counting on me that I felt the weight of the pressure n
