He watched her run up the stairs and a second later, he heard the bedroom door slam shut.
She was right, she did not invite him, he came because Blair asked him to, but he also did it out of free will. However, it did not mean that he was going to leave just because she did not want him there.
He walked out of the house and told the driver to go back home because he needed enough people to keep an eye on Montana, but that was only an excuse to get rid of the guard and stay behind.
He puffed out and rolled his head back around, suddenly feeling tired and drained like he had been lifting heavy machines, while in reality, he had not been doing anything, at least nothing useful, he was just lazing around in his brother's house.
He sighed and walked back into the house. The house was spotless, MJ had done a really great job at cleaning it, nobody would be able to tell that it was a crime scene. The only thing that was a reminder that a crime had taken place was the loss of colour on the brown floor board near the door, it was quite unsettling.
Cameron got rid of the water bucket that MJ had been using to clean and then took everything back to the store room. He searched the place and found a small bucket of paint laying around the storage room; if he was going to stay here for the night, he might as well make himself useful. He took the bucket and painting brush and kept himself busy by remodeling the floor; it was the least he could do to relieve MJ of the stress she was currently enduring.
It did not even take him an hour, and by the time he was done, it looked brand new; there was no sign of blood, nor was there a white colour from all the scrubbing done. It just needed time to dry, and then MJ would not even remember the exact spot where everything took place.
He sat downstairs for a while until midnight and then carefully went upstairs to MJ's room. He opened the door quietly and peeked through the small opening. What he saw made his heart skip a beat, MJ was coiled up in her bed and sleeping peacefully.
He did not want to disturb her, so he went back downstairs and slept on the couch in the sitting room.
He did not get much sleep, he was worried that if he closed his eyes even for a second something would happen to her and he wouldn't be there in time to save her, he checked up on her twice during the night and nothing had changed, she was still sleeping and before he knew it, it was morning.
He heard the water running upstairs and got up. He was tired, but he had to get his day started. While MJ was in the shower, he went to one of the bathrooms and washed his face and then he went back downstairs to prepare breakfast. He was a terrible cook and he knew it, and MJ knew it too.
He remembered how she made fun of him the one time he prepared breakfast for her back in London, he was not going to go down the same road again, this time he decided to prepare something he was good at – pancakes. He loved pancakes with all his heart, they were his favourite. Hopefully, MJ would enjoy them as much as he did.
Luckily, they had all the ingredients he needed, he did not want to go overboard and make something only for her to end up not eating; so, he only made pancakes, juice and tea.
Thirty minutes later, MJ came down and for a moment she stood at the centre of the room her eyes trained on the spot next to the door. She slowly tilted her head, facing the kitchen, and she came face-to-face with Cameron. Her lips were slightly apart, she was obviously not expecting him to be there.
"Good morning," he greeted cheerfully while preparing the table.
She closed her mouth and gulped subtly. "Hi," she greeted in a low voice and walked into the kitchen in calculated steps as if expecting everything to disappear in a second. "I was not expecting you to be here," she said truthfully, an unknown glint in the depth of her eyes.
Cameron gave her a small smile. "Come on, have a seat! Breakfast is served." He pulled a chair for her at the head of the table, and she sat down and pulled the chair in, taking in the setting before her. "I hope it is as delicious as it looks."
Cameron laughed. "Trust me, it is. Tea or juice?"
"I'll have juice, thank you." He poured the juice and then placed a plate of pancakes layered with syrup in front of her. She dug into her food and ate absentmindedly, but she finished everything on her plate. "Thank you, the last thing I had was pasta earlier yesterday. I didn't really have an appetite, but your breakfast helped."
Cameron smiled. "Anytime! Did you have a good night?" He asked.
She gave a wary smile, her lips struggling for words. "Better than I have in years."
"I'm glad." He took her plate and glass, and left them in the sink. A knock came from front door, and MJ and Cameron turned to look at each other. "Are you expecting someone?"
MJ shook her head. "No."
Who could it be so early in the morning? He only hoped that it was not his driver or Montana. "I'll get it," he said just as MJ was about to get up. He left the kitchen and opened the door to be greeted by a face he was not expecting to see in a while. "Jackson?" He said, surprised. "What are you doing here?"
MJ came out from the kitchen at the mention of Jackson's name. She stood in the kitchen doorway and crossed her arms. "I doubt Blair dragged you out here too, so what brings you here?" She asked.
"I hate to be the bearer of bad news," he sighed. "But there is trouble in paradise."
"What happened?" MJ asked.
Cameron frowned. "Whatever it is, can't it wait?"
MJ glared at him. "Why wait?" She asked. "I mean he's already come all this way."
Cameron did not like this, he did not like how the issues kept piling up. He was afraid that she would crack under pressure.
She had a lot to deal with over the past few months alone; first it was the kidnapping, followed by Alastair's death, then it was Jorge's shooting, and now, the whole thing with Logan.
She could not handle any more stress, not when all these issues remained unresolved.
"I just don't think it is a good idea for you to be involving yourself with more stuff."
"Why? Do you think I can’t handle it?"
"I'm worried that it will take a toll on you," he admitted. "Why not solve one problem at a time?"
MJ did not answer him, she pursed her lips and then turned to Jackson. "What happened?"
Jackson grimaced. "Samantha was involved in an accident. According to bystanders, she was kidnapped and then thrown out of a moving car."
Cameron watched as MJ's face turned white, and a heavy silence followed before Jackson's words hit home. "Wait, Samantha as in Blondie?" He asked. Samantha was such a sweet girl, who would want to hurt her?
Fear settled on MJ's face, her breathing becoming rapid. She looked like she was going to collapse.
"MJ?" Cameron rushed towards her, but she was out of sight before he could even reach her, she disappeared into the kitchen and rushed towards the sink, and drank a glass of water before plopping on the nearest chair.
"This can't be happening now," she said in a quiet hoarse voice, burying her face in her open palms. "Jackson, where is she?"
"She was admitted at the same hospital as Mr Billings."
"She was admitted at the same hospital as Mr Billings."She sat there for a second, waiting for someone to tell her something else, something that did not need for her to solve. But the prolonged silence killed her hopes. Her mouth suddenly filled with too much saliva, and she felt her stomach twisting and turning strangely, and then she retched. She pushed her chair back and ran past Cameron and Jackson, and barged into the nearest bathroom, immediately falling to her knees and bending over the toilet. Her throat burned as all the contents she just had spewed out through her mouth. She choked and gagged until nothing was left. Her body shivered as if she had not had anything to eat, she felt weak to her bone as she leaned over the basin and rinsed her mouth. She stayed in the room for a minute, thinking about what Jackson just said to her.She could not believe that Samantha Grayson was in the same hospital as Jorge, whoever put her there thought
Logan thought that the days to come would be miserable following the confrontation with MJ Billings, but not even a day later, he was in the greatest mood of his life.He woke up that morning and cooked up a storm of breakfast, taking Antonina by surprise."Is there a problem?" Logan asked when Antonina threw him a suspicious glance at the breakfast table."You were not home when I went to bed last night, and I did not hear you come back," she said.Logan felt his heart beat slowly for a second, but he refused to let it get to him. She did not remember anything from last night, and he did not want to worry her by trying to get her to remember things, it would only make matters worse."I was working till late last night. I missed quite a lot of work when we went London."Her eyes perked up. "Hmm, me too! We should finish up here and leave, there's a lot of paperwork to catch up on." She gulped down her juice and got up. "We can pack some of t
Logan was not particularly happy to see her, but she did not expect anything less from him. He had every right to be mad at her.She was not planning on being in the same room as him after their confrontation, but after everything she heard from Samantha, she wanted to look him in the face and ask him why he did what he did.He put her brother's life in danger and put all their lives at risk. She went to look for him in his office and found out from Natalia that he was at La Café, she did not expect to find his bodyguard with him, but from the look of things, the news of his latest adventure had travelled fast."What are you doing here?" Thuso asked, but MJ ignored him.Her attention was focused on Logan, she had no idea how to feel about him or the situation he put them in, all she felt was a burning feeling in her chest, and it felt as if she was going to explode."Just give me a reason why, one good reason," she said quietly. "I kn
Home was not the same, not without Logan. She wondered what it would take to get him to move back into the house. She did not understand why he was staying with that old lady.To top it off, Cameron was still not home when she woke up. What was the use of being here if she was going to be all alone? She and Cameron never really had a good relationship, they were like an odd pair of shoes, water and oil, they just could not get along. With Logan on the other hand, they did not have a perfect relationship, but they got along just fine. She had to figure a way to get him home. An idea popped in her head, she was tired of being cooped up in this house."Honey," she said to her son who was having cereal in the kitchen. "Don't have a lot for breakfast, we will have something on the way.""Mom..." He heart swelled in joy when he addressed her. "Are we going somewhere?" He asked excitedly. She messed with his hair and smiled. "Y
He shut his eyes and listened as her steps faded into the crowd outside the cafe, and then stood up abruptly, pushing Lorraine off his lap.He walked around his desk and slammed the door shut, and turned to the woman in anger. "Don't ever barge into my office like that, do you understand?" He seethed. He had no idea what possessed him in the first place, one minute he wished they could stay together in silence without dwelling on the past or arguing about their mistakes, but the moment Lorraine arrived, that thought was broken. He was hoping that it would affect her, that she would be jealous, but she just remained impassive and left."But, Logan..." Lorraine looked confused. "You just..." She pointed at the chair and shook her head in question. "You were the one who... wait, was all that just for show?" She asked. Dammit! Logan thought. "Did you use me to make that lady jealous?" He gulped and looked way. Lorraine snickered, "Who the hell is that woman?
There was no telling when all the chaos would come to an end.It was one issue after the other. Just when she thought all was well, she took ten steps back.It was ironic though. She was addicted to conflict, she craved for it, it made life more interesting. It was what made her look forward to waking up in the morning, and yet it haunted her. It was true when they said that too much of a good thing was bad.She felt like there was a lot going on behind her back that she was not aware of.Every single day, she woke up to more questions than answers, and the one person who could answer them was connected to every possible machine in the hospital.Jorge was the only person who could help her make sense of everything. What was really going on?MJ wondered if perhaps her brother lived a secret life. It bothered her to think that there was a possibility that she did not know him as much as she thought she did. What if he was involved in il
"Bye, mom! Bye, dad!"Lola watched as Dawn and Denise ran out the front door to their transport."Slow down!" David yelled after them as he he carried their backpacks to them. She heard the car driving away, and then David returned a few seconds later.Shannon had left as soon as Montana left, and her aunt also stepped out, probably going to check on her daughter at her brother's house. Her mother-in-law was busy sewing socks for baby Lila, she had been in a good mood since Montana arrived.I still cannot believe Montana was here who could have thought that she is capable will having childrenLola scoffed. We all know she is crazy for all we know she forced that boy off the streets and paid him to pretend to be a childShe is not lying that is her son." Lola felt like someone splashed cold water over her body when those words came out of her husband's mouth. He looked guilty."Of course, she is not lying!" Lillian
"Oh, oh! Here comes trouble," MJ cooed as Sne's car pulled up at the gate. What is she doing here? Kyle thought. As if reading his mind, MJ said cunningly, "either this is just a coincidence or someone called her.""I bet on my life it is the later," he muttered. He had no doubt that one of the journalists tipped her off, they desperately wanted hot gossip to make the front page.Kyle pressed the remote in his pocket and opened the gate for her, and then he turned to his companion who rather had a devious look on her face.He should have known her visit had absolutely nothing to do with his poisoning, it was the perfect excuse she could have for coming to see him, at least that was what everyone would think, especially Logan."Perhaps I should leave," she said, slowly turning her body towards him. "So, what lie are you going to spin to your soon-to-be ex-wife?" She was really the devil in an expensive suit.MJ was amazing, but he woul
