“I'm sorry what?” Sabrina spoke shocked after hearing Scott's name.
Her ex's name to be exact.
“I said that the other lawyer that I hired is Scott Lindsay Ackerman,” Shawn said, baffled with Sabrina's sudden reaction. “What's wrong?” He added, still not getting the situation.
Sabrina didn't say anything, she just sat there speechless.
But what's there to say?
This is supposed to be about business and Shawn is her client, talking about her personal life would be so unprofessional, and she showed him enough unprofessionalism tonight and that's not what she wanted.
“Nothing,” She said, clearing her throat. “It's getting pretty late and since I've done what you asked me to do, can I go now?” Sabrina asked, buttoning the third button of her shirt but leaving the two upper buttons unbuttoned.
“Yeah, let me walk you to your car.” He said standing up, getting his gaze off Sabrina's chest.
“No it's okay,” She said standing up grabbing her $2600 worth of Louis Vuitton bag before swinging it in her shoulder. “I'm pretty sure you have much better things to do and don't get me wrong, I love your company, but i just want to be on my own right now.” She said walking towards the glass door as Shawn sat back acknowledging her request.
“Sabrina,” Shawn called her name as she was opening the door, she just hummed in response, letting him know that she heard him.
“Thank you,” He spoke with a smile. “And If I said or did anything that got you upset then, It certainly isn't my intention and I deeply apologize.” He added uprightly, and she just smiled insincerely.
“You did,” Sabrina said, which formed a frown on Shawn's face.
“But it's not your fault, and it doesn't matter anymore.” She added before leaving the room.
He was left confused to what he did, and she was mad, not at him, but by the fact that not only will she be sharing an office with her ex, but she'll also be stuck with him for the next six months solving a case.
But what can she do? There's no backing up now.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Driving back home was a bliss, Sabrina's day was eventful, and she was drained.
The city of Denver never sleeps, but just like earlier, the calmness of the night was visible.Sabrina opened the roof of the convertible car that her dad gifted her on her 25th birthday. She closed her eyes feeling the cold autumn air hitting her skin and her hair was flying around because of the breeze, though, it was only for a while since that she was driving, and she needed to keep her eyes on the road.
It didn't take long before she reached her apartment, she secured her car first, parking it before going inside.
Sabrina just got out of the elevator when she noticed that her apartment door was slightly cracked open.
Her heart started beating faster as she was getting nearer to her apartment door. Instead of getting the hell out of there and calling the authorities like a normal person would do, she chose to stay and even take a peak at what's going on inside, and that's when she saw her whore of a cousin putting a blanket on the couch.
“Jesus Aria, you scared the fuck out of me!” Sabrina exclaimed putting her hand on her chest while entering the apartment, “At least close the door next time!” She added, making sure that she closed the door behind.
“Oh hey sorry, I received your message and bitch congrats!” Aria said, running towards Sabrina before hugging the life out of her.
Aria was Sabrina's cousin and best friend. Just like Sabrina, she grew up living with patriarchies questioning her abilities as she was the only woman in the family too. When she turned 20 she started working as an investigator at Colorado, she was 6 years younger than Sabrina, but she managed to graduate first because law school takes more years to accomplish than criminology, despite their age difference, both of them managed to create a strong bond.
“I miss you too couz but I- I can't breathe." Sabrina said having trouble to breathe from her cousin's tight hold.
“Right.” Aria said letting go of her cousin.
“How the heaven did you get in, and why the fuck haven't you been shot yet?” Sabrina said, talking about the tight security of the apartment complex when it comes to Non-residents.
“Well, I used the extra key that you gave me in case I needed a place to stay, and the security sure is strict, but they're also just men who wanted to have the attention of a pretty lady.” Aria answered, waggling her eyebrows.
“I don't know whether to be proud or be disappointed.” Sabrina said as a joke, though there's some truth in there.
“So the reason I came here is to obviously celebrate, I wasn't able to prepare us something, so I just grabbed some take-outs.” She said, putting her arm around her cousin's shoulder while guiding her towards the couch.
“We're celebrating me?” Sabrina asked once she's seated on the couch.
“Yes, but we're celebrating me too,” Aria said which formed a smile on her cousin's face.
“My boss just made me sign a contract for an undercover assignment.” She added.“Oh really? Congrats ri!” Sabrina exclaimed, hugging Aria.
“Yes but hush now,” Aria said pushing her cousin off her, “Go and change into something comfortable because we are going to have a glee marathon.” She added standing up, dragging Sabrina along with her then pushing her towards her room.
“Okay okay no need to push me you crazy brunette.” Sabrina said, slightly giggling from her cousin's actions.
Sabrina did exactly what Aria told her to do and once she was done she went into the couch just like what the younger girl instructed. She was already watching the third episode and Aria was fast asleep on her arms when she heard her doorbell ding.
“Who could that be.” Sabrina mumbled to herself carefully placing her cousin on the couch before walking to the door taking a peak through the peephole first before opening it, and that's when she saw a cute guy wearing a trench coat with a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolate.
As much as she liked that, she was also confused.
“How may I help you?” Sabrina said casually after she opened the door, leaning on its frame.
“Oh hi, good evening mate, Mr. Turner asked me to give you these.” The guy said in a British accent, handling her the bouquet and the chocolate.
Dang, I wish they were from you. Sabrina thought to herself.
“Wait, who gave you my address?” Sabrina asked suspiciously.
“Mr. Turner.” The guy answered with a smile.
“He knew my address?” She asked him, and he just shrugged and gave her a 'how am I supposed to know that' kind of look.
“OK thanks?” She said, confused to why would Shawn send her flowers and chocolate. I mean, it's true that they used to be one-night stand buddies, but that was like 3 years ago and there was no emotional string attached there.
Maybe it's because he thought that he got her upset earlier? Or maybe, it was just a way to say thank you for helping him earlier, even though she was just doing her job?
Either way, she needed a confirmation.
“My name's Everett, it's nice to met you, Sabrina.” He said, extending his hand for Sabrina to shake.
“You know my name?” She asked, shaking his hand.“Yeah, it's written in the card on the bouquet.” He said, scratching the back of his neck as Sabrina looked for the card that he was talking about.
“Oh well, it's getting pretty late and I have to get ready for bed,” Sabrina said once she saw the card. “Thank you.” She added, smiling at him.
“No problem darling and yes, it is indeed getting pretty late I have to go to,” He said slightly laughing. “Have a great evening, and it was lovely meeting you.” He added waving before leaving.
Once he was out of view, Sabrina went back inside making sure that she locked the door before going to the couch where her cousin was sleeping at, she grabbed the card on the bouquet and read it while smiling as she does so.
Well, what a lovely way to end the night.
Friday, the best day of the week, next to Saturday. Well, at least for Sabrina. For her, Friday is the only day in the week when you can chill and do whatever you want (especially during nighttime) without worrying about work or school the next day.Friday is also the day before Saturday, and that's a plus.Numerous people have their own different favorite day of the week that isn't Friday and if you're one of those people, I totally respect your opinion. Though, don't ever dare differ when you're talking to Sabrina Clarke about this matter because she's just going to shove your argument deep in the ass.Yeah, she loves Friday that much. It's been exactly a week since the last time she saw Shawn, and they haven't spoken to each other since. You might be wondering what the heaven it is she's doing right now. Well, she's just doing the same thing that she's been doing since Zachary got her to share a specialized office with Scott.Avoiding the awkwardness.Yeah, she's been doing that
A typical Sunday morning for Sabrina is when she wakes up at seven, go to Starbucks, get her cappuccino coffee, and spend the rest of the morning alone.Though, today isn't one of those typical Sunday mornings.Taking a bite of her donut, Sabrina listened to Igor and Ivan talk about random stuff.Apparently, they invited her to have breakfast with them and discuss business.Alas! They haven't mentioned that since they got there. Basically, it was just them and Sabrina hanging out like buds.“So Blondie,” Ivan said, using the nickname he created for Sabrina the first time he saw her, making her instantly get out of her thoughts. “When did you start working as a lawyer?” He added with curiosity evident in his voice. This is a question that she has gotten use to being asked by now.“Last week.” She proudly answered, setting her donut down.“Really?” He asked shocked as Igor also showed sign of interest, but he kept quiet. One thing that Sabrina learned about them (even though she only m
Waking up exactly before sunrise with the gorgeous city view from a luxurious apartment is always pleasant.Well, not if you haven't slept at all!Clearing her kitchen counter and putting the things that she got there into places where they should be, Sabrina yawned, feeling drained from all the work she's been doing since last night.Who knew that having multiple clients at the same time have its pros and cons too.Apparently, since the Leatherwood tech group, a tech company in Denver, signed a contract with the Madison LLC through her, Sabrina experienced stress like she had never experienced before. Going in and out of the city to get small, but golden pieces of information can be exhausting and let's not even mention the fact that she had five other clients to assist too.Her life seemed like it's just about work at the moment. “God, I literally look like a twenty-six years old version of Cruella right now,” Sabrina spoke to herself looking in a mirror touching the dark circles
Waking up with a headache caused by a hangover is always a bummer.A headache is already bad enough, and a hangover would just double its bad vibes. Unfortunately for Sabrina, today is one of those days when she gets to wake up with one.Removing the thick covers from her tiny form, She groaned, feeling her head pounding from all the drinking she had done last night.Yesterday was quite pleasant, they got a new lead, and they got that without getting into deep shit.Exactly after that little undercover project yesterday, Aria literally did try to kill Sabrina, seriously mad of the blonde for putting her into such a situation at the restaurant. Fortunately, Igor and Everett just made it in time just before the girl's could rip each other's throats out. That same night, too, they celebrated their successful little operation. Sabrina blasted the speakers and Shawn opened wine, and champagne bottles as everybody just went looseThough, not all of them really had that much fun from the
“I'm sorry,” Said Sabrina, trying to stop herself from laughing. “So the girl that you've been fantasizing about finally made a move on you, but you turned her down because she's underage?” She added mockingly.“It's not like th-” Explained Ivan.“Then what is it?” She cut him off before he can even finish his sentence.Ivan came into Sabrina and Scott's office earlier to discuss the new changes that they have to apply now that the case just went on trial and their enemies are getting more and more updated about them. Though, Scott wasn't really around, so he just had to discuss matters with Sabrina.Their conversation was going smoothly at first until Ivan mentioned something about his love life and now here they are. “It's just that, I'm thirty-two, and she's seventeen and considering the fact that she's underage, and I'm not, if I started dating her that's probably going to be classified as pedophilia.” Explained Ivan as Sabrina burst off laughter again.Ivan can spend an entire d
Apologizing. A thing that Sabrina would only do once in a million years.Okay, I was exaggerating.Clearly, she doesn't just want to apologize no matter what. Not even back in kindergarten where she almost set the whole school on fire, or that one time when she pushed her classmate on the freezing waters of a swimming pool during the winter at a schoolmate's party, and that time when she painted her brother's room pink.Apologizing has always just been a big No No to Sabrina, and it would always take her every ounce of her pride she has to simply just say “I'm sorry”.Letting those two words and seven letters slip off her mouth had always been a big deal to her.Even If sometimes she knew to herself that it was her fault, and she's to blame, she still wouldn't do it.Alas! There's always going to be one of those times when realization would hit her and her senses would come running in, telling her that she had to swallow her pride and simply apologize. And let's just say that one of th
Kids are little innocent creatures that run around most of the time, which a lot of people adore. And let's just say that Sabrina's not one of those people. She never had a sweet spot for them. There's just something about little kids and her, that just doesn't go well in nature. She would always do everything just to avoid them, and the fact that she's stuck with one right now is quite unfortunate.Very unfortunate.“No.” Said Sabrina, refusing to take the piece of Lego from the four years old's hand.Worried about not hearing anything from Shawn for a while, Sabrina decided to come and visit him, which turned out to be a such a bad idea considering that he was actually looking out for his little niece at the moment. And yeah, it was irritating. She avoided the kid the entire time, but the tiny creature doesn't just want to leave her alone. This definitely has ruined her for looking after a little one forever.“Pweasssse.” Begged the toddler with her puppy dog eyes, hoping that Sabrin
Mine, All too well and Style. Some of Taylor Swift's songs, which has verse's of lyrics narrating something happening in the middle of the night.Being single for almost seven years, Sabrina can't say that she can relate to those songs a hundred percent. The only thing that she can relate to it was the middle of the night part because she was a night owl.At three AM, many people are probably already in Dreamland riding unicorns and some shit, while Sabrina on the other hand, was still chilling on her couch scrolling through her I*******m feed.“Man, this girl is pretty.” She spoke to herself admiring a random photo that she saw on her feed when she received a text from Ivan, which was Instantly followed by her doorbell ringing.Sabrina's pretty sure that it was just Ivan based on the text that he sent her, but she always had that “You can never be so sure mindset” so she checked her peephole first before opening the door (Just like always.)And there he stood, wearing that blue trenc
When Mr. Clarke said that his daughter wouldn't reach thirty years old because of her reckless behavior, he couldn't be more right.Sabrina grew up as a curious child. And that curiousness had led her to breaking her bones, almost setting her classmate on fire, having her dad almost lose a ten million dollar contract, and many more.Sabrina vividly remembered that time when she was six, and she was curious about how her dad's convertible car transforms from a car with a roof, to no roof. She asked her brothers about it and all of them gave her the same answer.“It just works that way”Now— aside from Sabrina's curiousness, she was also adventurous. When she didn't get the answer that she wanted, she sneaked into her dad's car and tried to get the answers that could fill her curiousness herself. She was six that time and doesn't know anything about cars, and the first thing she did when she was inside it was press random buttons.Sabrina did found out how her dad's convertible work, bu
“Shawn, this is Aria, do you copy?!” Said the familiar voice from the other line. “Turns out that Everett wanted all of us to die, and so he speeded towards the national park from the bar in like 2 minutes, and we just saw the car pass by, and we are now going after it. Repeat, this is a code red, over!” She added, copying the notorious dialogue from the Netflix hit series “Stranger things.”Ivan rolled his eyes at that.“Stop watching strange things!” Yelled Ivan from the other line, making Aria and Everett shudder from the loudness of his voice.“Aria, where are you now?” Asked Shawn, grabbing his phone from Everett's grasp.“We are— where are we?” Asked Aria on the other line.“I don't know! I'm not a local here!” Shawn heard Everett reply.“Just track my phone and follow our lead!” Yelled Aria as if he were talking to a deaf person before ending the call.“Ivan,” Called out to the Russian man as he kept his eyes on the road. “Track Aria Clarke's phone.” He added, as Ivan immediate
“This doesn't seem like a place where kidnappers bring their preys,” Said Igor, looking at the glamorous bar packed with people in front of him.“You sure you're not schizophrenic?” Aria added looking at Ivan who was occupied scanning the place. After he told them that he knew where Sabrina was, Shawn immediately demanded him to bring them wherever the hell she is.But he wished he didn't.This was just another waste of time.Ivan has been so tired that he chose to lie to them just to get a break and have a good time. But instead of getting mad at Ivan, Shawn did the only thing that he have been doing since the blonde went missing.Blaming himself.“Ivan— look, I know that I've not been the nicest person within the last three days, and I'm sorry. If you want to have fun and get lost tonight, then fine, go ahead. You guys go ahead too, I'll just go home and—” Said Shawn, but he was quickly cut off by an annoyed Ivan who just snapped out of his thoughts.“No,” Said Ivan with annoyance d
“Just make the fucking call, Everett!” Shouted Shawn angrily to the British lad, who was struggling to figure out whom he should call first. He was given a long list of people's unorganized numbers, and he was instructed to call them one by one, each.Having OCD, he finds it quite difficult to make the first call because he doesn't know whom to call first. And Shawn yelling at him angrily didn't help at all too.“I'm trying, Mate,” Everett said with his shaking hands, keeping his attention on the messy long list. “I'm trying.” He added, finally dialing one of the numbers, nervous that Shawn would yell at him again. It's been three days since Sabrina was declared missing, and Shawn has been like this ever since. He doesn't remember the last time he ate a meal, and the dark circles under his eyes were totally visible. He was a mess.Sabrina's disappearance was all over the news. Her father was in the city helping for the search, while her brothers bailed on their business trips two day

Driving in the middle of the night is something that Sabrina has gone used to.And no— it didn't start when her life became like a real life roller coaster because she became a lawyer. It was already a habit. Before she even got her junior driver's license, she had been sneaking out late at night “Borrowing” her father's cars and driving it around the city. It's mostly the convertibles that she take with her because there's just something about hitting the road as the cold breeze of the night lingers in her skin that makes her feel free. And unlike the other mischief that she had done, she never got caught. She would drive and sometimes— almost even crash her father's precious cars and go home pretending like nothing even happened. She's bad, but she's so good with it.After being disturbed from her make-out session with her boyfriend, Sabrina was now speeding towards her workplace to where one of her client, James Gibbons, wanted to meet her.He said that he wanted to talk to her abo
It's over. The legal battle is over. They won. This is the moment that Shawn has been waiting for. After the judge banged the gavel, the invisible weight on his shoulder flew away like a balloon. The case is now closed, and he was declared not guilty, which means he (Or his company) isn't going to face any charges.Ever since all the case started, he had this massive idea on how his victory party is going to be like. There would be music, dancing, Champagne bottles popping everywhere, and a lot of people. But now that it has finally come, he can't even make himself to start the preparations.A lot of stuff transpired the other night, and he was still furious.Scott and Sabrina still represented him and his company's name in court, and he was actually surprised on how much of a good actor they were. The both of them acted like none of the things that happened the other night ever happened. But it's certainly obvious that Scott looked embarrassed and ashamed the entire trial, with his f
“Lawyer.” Said Ivan, appearing at the blonde's Kitchen, startling the heck out of her.He somehow always found a way to show up out of nowhere. She doesn't know how he does it, but it undeniably is annoyingIt doesn't matter if it's her office, the court, the golf course, or even her own bedroom sometimes. She's just lucky that he never walked in on her naked. But if he does, she's quite sure that she would definitely be in the verge of suing him.Creepy weirdo.“You motherfucker!” Sabrina said angrily, putting her palm on her chest, still feeling the aftershock of being startled. “You scared the shit out of me!” She added, slapping him with the hot ladle, making him yelp as his skin turned red from the burning sensation of the cooking tool. This is what you call a love hate relationship.“You bitch!” He spat, running to the faucet of the blonde's Kitchen, pulling his sleeves up before rinsing his now sore skin. “Why do you always have to slap me with that thing?” He added, letting the
“You assholes!” Shouted Sabrina angrily to the three bastards that were cheerfully throwing snow balls at her in a constant fast pace.It was the twenty-fourth of December, and Sabrina agreed to spend the holidays with Shawn's family in Minnesota. They have this massive mansion located in an isolated village that can hold like a thousand people. It was so gigantic that almost all of Shawn's relatives were there to spend Christmas. Considering the fact that her brothers and her father weren't even in the state and also to avoid being a lonely Grinch during the holidays, Sabrina accepted Shawn's invite.Shawn's family were the warmest people that she ever meet her entire life to say the least. The kids were the fun version of angels, and the older people were so kind. One of them even offered her to take her room for the night if she would rather not share a bed with Shawn. To which she obviously refused, of course.Aside from the fact that it was just causally selfish, Sabrina really
