Chapter seventy-eight

The news that I was pregnant quickly spread throughout the upper class. Matthew received many congratulatory phone calls from others. Those were the few times that I saw him receive a phone call from a partner or not really close friend and still smile sincerely.

The Brown family was about to hold a small party to celebrate this good news. Actually, Matthew did not want to share this good news with too many people, but people in high society often organized a large and bustling party that invited many people. Sometimes the ladies organized huge parties just to celebrate the birthday of a beloved pet. If the Brown family did not celebrate a party for such an important occasion, it would cause other people to disagree.
