Sebastian laid on his bed as he remembered the night a month ago.

Month ago:

The sky was dark beyond the point of darkness. The moon and no stars were shining as the clouds had taken over them. Suddenly, it started thundering. Elysia was frightened by the sound of it. She closed the door of the veterinary clinic where she works and started to walk fast towards her home before the sky would start to pour out.

However, unfortunately, she had just reached the alley where it started to rain. ''Oh gosh, not now.'' Elysia groaned as she didn't have an umbrella and rushed. The coldness of the night was making her shiver.

She ran down the streets. Her apartment wasn't far from the vet clinic. So, she usually goes there by foot.

In the middle of the thunder, a voice caused her feet to stop. ''Is anyone there?'' She asked nervously.

A whimper could be heard.

''Excuse me?'' She asked again and entered the street. A little streetlight was lighting the alley but it wasn't bright enough. Elysia had to squint her eyes to see the source of those sounds.

Before Elysia could do anything, someone grabbed her leg. She jumped out of fright but gained her senses immediately and looked down.

''OH MY GOD!!!'' She shouted.

''Ple-please.'' She heard him saying.

The sky was pouring its heart out while his blood was also becoming a part of the flowing water. His face was beaten up so badly but Elysia could still see the best features of his face. A cut on his cheekbone was making him so dangerous and deadly even though he was barely able to open his eyes.

His lips had gone purple from the cold and he was shivering badly.

Elysia sat on her knees in front of him. Her hands were trembling. She saw his wound on the abdomen. Blood was oozing out of it. ''What should I do?'' She was terrified and put her hands on his wound and applied some pressure to minimize the blood loss.

''I am calling an ambulance. You need to go to the hospital.'' One hand was still on his hard abs while with the other she rummaged through the bag to find her phone. However, he instantly took her hand in his. His vision was blurry but he could see a little girl in front of him.

''Don't.'' One word, just one word, felt so authoritative and dominating from his mouth that although she wanted to yell at him, but she couldn't.

''But you will die at this rate.'' Elysia almost whispered.

''I don't care.'' He paused and closed his eyes, ''Do anything but don't take me to the hospital.'' He was barely able to say that.

''Look, you are either going to the hospital or I am letting you die on the streets.'' She didn't want to leave him, she definitely did not want to. Her soft and fragile heart was already aching to see him in this state but she had to threaten him. Unlike her expectations, it did not have any impact on him.

''Leave me then.'' He jerked her hand away from his wound.

Elysia was taken aback. ''How can I-'' she sighed and saw his closed flattering eyes. ''Okay, don't sleep. Try to stay in your consciousness and get up." She put his hand on the wound and wrapped one of her arms around his shoulders.

''Get up.'' With huge difficulty, she was able to get him on his feet. However, he was damn heavy to be held by her.

''Look, I can't carry you on my own. Bear your own weight too.'' She scolded him and staggered under him.

He tried to do what she said but his wound was hurting like hell.

Elysia does not know what she thought at that moment why she did that, but she walked him towards the animal clinic and let him sit on the stretcher which is used for the animals.

She put her hand on his pulse to check his heart rate.

''I am saying this to you for the last time. Let's go to the hospital. You have lost a lot of blood. Your pulse is really weak. You can go into shock.'' Elysia tried to explain the severity of the situation to him. Because this man was really stubborn and he was not ready to listen to her at all.

''Do whatever you can do.'' The Italian accent was rolling off his tongue.

Elysia sighed. ''I am a veterinarian. If you die on my bed today, I will not take any responsibility.''

The good side inside her was getting dominated and it was telling her to do whatever it takes to save this man. She knew that she was risking her medical licence.

''And if I am saved tonight, then I will take responsibility for your bed.'' He murmured so softly that Elysia could not hear him.

First of all, she adjusted the temperature of the place to help him with the hypothermia and Elysia took a deep breath and wore gloves and mask. She pulled his shirt upward to find his hard abs. They were definitely 8 abs as they went down from his lower abdomen. While the huge tattoo on his chest was making her run her fingers there.

'Pull yourself together, Elysia. This isn't the time to be drooling over some random man.' She snapped herself back to reality.

The wound was huge and deep. It looked like he had been stabbed. ''I am putting you on anesthesia.'' She was telling him and gave him the injection.

His face was void of anything. He was deeply in pain, but no one could tell that, apart from his pale face.

She examined his wound. It was a relief that he didn't need any surgery. Although it was really deep. Elysia stitched that up and bandaged up his other wounds. They were also really bad. His body was covered with them.

''Did he had a fight?'' She murmured to herself and took care of him the whole night. It was a relief that his blood pressure was getting better. She took a sigh of massive relief and had no idea when she would sleep.

It stopped raining. He woke up at dawn when the anesthesia wore out and without caring about the stitches, he woke up and groaned softly.

However, the pain subsided when his eyes fell on that angelic face. She looked so pure and her fair complexion looked so beautiful that he forgot to take his eyes off her.

Elysia had her head on the bed right beside him. Her eyes were long and thick, they looked like the wings of butterflies, while her lips were thin and pink. They were so kissable and irresistible.

He smirked and leaned in to give a peck on her forehead.

At that moment, the door of the clinic was flung open. He instantly glanced at the man who had come and signaled him to stay quiet. The man followed his order without any hesitation.

He glanced at the surroundings and without caring about himself, he walked towards the notepad. The man who had just come to give him support but he stopped him and started writing.

After he was done, he quietly placed the paper beside her and gave her a long, needy glance before leaving.

''I am sorry, boss.'' The man who came just now said to him,

He glared at him, ''Find all those motherf**kers. I will make them taste death.'' He looked so dangerous that the man held his breath with the fear that it might get on his nerves and become the cause of his death.

''Will do, boss.'' The man said.

He settled in the back seat of the car while the man drove him away.

Elysia woke up after an hour. Her eyes went wide when she saw an empty bed. She was about to run around to look for him but stopped upon seeing the note.

''I owe you a big one and I will make sure to take responsibility for your night, Tesoro (Darling).''

She read it. Once, twice, thrice. ''What does it mean? Is he kidding? I mean how can he just leave when I saved his life? Shouldn't he at least thank me? I shouldn’t trust people so easily.'' She rolled her eyes and threw away that note.

''I was not his one-night stand whom he can just leave after f**king around.'' Elysia did not know why, but she was getting really angry. This is totally against her personality.

She threw the strap of the bag on her shoulder and stomped her feet as she went to the apartment to take a shower. Her body was aching badly from sleeping in a bad posture, but a warm shower helped in soothing up the aches.

Ella walked through the university gates, and immediately, something felt wrong. It wasn’t anything obvious at first, just an odd, heavy sensation settling in her chest. Some pretended to be busy on their phones but would sneak quick glances in her direction. Others didn’t bother to hide it at all. Their eyes followed her as she walked, whispers trailing behind her like shadows. A few students exchanged smirks, nudging each other as if they were all in on some kind of secret.Ella’s heart pounded as she tightened her grip on her bag. It made her skin crawl. But she wasn’t going to let it show. She had made a promise to herself—she wouldn’t let what happened control her.So she did what she had to. She pulled on a thick black turtleneck, hoping it would hide the bruise on her neck. She dabbed on some makeup just in case. If she acted normal, no one would notice. At least, that was the plan. She took a deep breath before stepping into Theo’s lecture hall. The room was already half-full, students chatting and flipping through notes.
