How long has it been since I have been here? A couple of days? Weeks? Whatever length of time it has been, the only thing I know is that I’ve barely had any treatment or time to recover. Not to mention a lack of food and water.

They have been feeding me just enough to survive, but my body grows weaker by the day. I don’t know how much longer I’ll remain able enough to withstand the beatings from the alpha. I dare not try to remember the things he has done to me, but with each day that passes, I wish more and more that with this next beating comes the last of my body’s will to live.

I’ve given up hope anyone will rescue me. Let alone even find me here. Even if they knew who had taken me, there was no chance they could break in and rescue me. My only release from this place would be death, yet I have no means to take my own life.

The sound of footsteps causes me to flinch, though there is nowhere for me to hide or cower. If those are

I get dragged along to the meeting spot in the middle of the passway. The alpha has no plans to hand me over, but I know he will use me as a shield against the two. Several of his warriors come along with him, as well as a scout or two.The alpha pauses within five feet of Cedric and Dereck and nods to his scout. “Make sure they’re not hiding anyone nearby,” he orders with a low growl in his throat.Dereck and Cedric allow the scout to go past them, though they look tense. I wish I could convince them to forget me, but part of me knows they won’t listen to me. I still have to try though. With as much energy as I can muster, I ignore the feel of my dry mouth and throat and croak out, "leave me... here. Go back... Anita. This... trap."The alpha yanks on my chain and kicks my hands with his boot. "Silence!" He snarls at me and then smirks when he spots me whimpering. I force myself to look at my lovers. They're pissed off at the alph

With Cedric throwing threats around, I quickly notice the bodyguard and the alpha have become distracted. If I’m going to get out of this alive and stop being a liability for my loved ones, then I need to act now.Since I’m already on my side, I don’t have to move much to carry out my plan. That way, I won’t get noticed until I’ve hit the alpha in a spot that should slow him down just enough. I just hope these chains give me enough reach to pull it off.I bring in my knees, making it appear as though I’m just cowering. I don’t have the strength to fight, or the ability to move all that quickly, but I can still move enough that I’ll get just out of reach and provide the distraction my lovers need. When I’m sure no one is paying attention to me, I kick out both feet at once and hit the alpha right where it hurts - in his family jewels. He curses at me, but the pain is more than enough for him to curl up and let

I almost don’t believe my own eyes, ears and touch. I finally have my mate back. That is what I thought at first, but within seconds, Vukasin had caught up with us. He always had been swift-footed, even in his human form.As soon as I saw Kyla thrashing out at him, I knew she had regained some will to free herself. I had been fearful at first, thinking Vukasin had broken her spirit. I couldn’t let Vukasin do anything more to my mate, and this time, I was determined to protect her.Eventually, Vukasin took this fight seriously. Tormenting a chained-up prisoner wasn’t exactly challenging, but defending himself from two foes almost as equal in strength as him was a much harder issue to deal with in his human form.As soon as he changed into his wolf form, I knew he wouldn’t bother with Kyla now. He would focus everything on me so that he could win. I wasn’t about to let him. Allowing him to beat me was not an option. He would slaughter

As we return home, I hold Kyla close to my chest. She must have been through so much and I can’t help but notice how much lighter she has become. Did that bastard starve her on top of everything else? That my poor mate is full of wounds and burns tells me all that I need to know.I can hear her breathing softly. A sign that she is still alive, but exhausted enough to have fallen asleep. I’m just glad we had been victorious in at least this much. Had we not saved her, what would her fate have been? Finally, we make it back to our home and, although the pack is anxious and mournful from the loss of life, they still offer congratulations on the victory. I wish I could tell them the threat from Vukasin was over at last, but the truth of the matter was that as soon as he recovered, he would be even worse than before. As we entered the packhouse, Anita rushed over to us. “She needs medical attention!” She claimed and motioned for me to follow.

The sound of songbirds fills my ears as my eyes flicker open. That I feel warm and safe is something I thought I would never experience again. Yet here I am, in the place I should have been all this time. I’m not sure how long I was unconscious, but I feel well enough to move around. My body is still sore, but it could have been much worse had Anita not helped look after my wounds. Now that I’m safe, my body now has the time to repair itself.Glancing beside me, I realise I’m alone and have been all night or however long it has been. Part of me is thankful for that, but the other, louder half of me is fearful that this is all just a dream and I’m still locked away.“C-Cedric?” I call out, “D-Dereck?”It doesn’t take long for me to hear the scrambling of two lots of feet rushing down the hall. As soon as they appear in the room with me, I know this isn’t a dream and I really am safe. I can’t

I still don’t know how I missed so many signs and all of Cedric’s hints about me being his destined mate. Was that why they always said it wouldn’t be known until you were twenty? Because eighteen-year-olds were just too brash? Or was that just a problem I had?Watching Dereck leave, I couldn’t help but feel bad. He loved me so much, but the Moon had not given me to him. I still loved him, but accepting Cedric was important to me. And I was convinced keeping all of this a secret from me must have been troublesome too, and not just because of me. Then again, Dereck scolded both of us, so it’s not like he can’t handle us simultaneously.“He’ll be fine,” Cedric whispers into my ear before leaning down to kiss my neck. I felt a shiver run through my body at the sensation. I wasn’t sure if I could satisfy Cedric in the state I was in, even if I had healed a bit.“I know,” I replied, suddenly real

Even though I had agreed to leave them alone, I didn’t wander far from the bedroom. I wanted to be there for when they were done, as we had so much to talk about now that they were finally accepting one another’s roles within this pack of ours.I could hear them decently enough from where I stood, and part of me longed to be included. However, this moment was not like the others, and I knew there was no place for me during the mating ritual. Kyla and Dereck might even become territorial against me without meaning to, so it is best I avoid anything that could set off their natural instincts. As soon as the bedroom was quiet again, I listened out for any signs that those two were still awake. I didn’t think either of them would have done anything too taxing because of Kyla’s wounds, but who could say if they had the smarts to take precautions?“You can come in,” Cedric’s voice mumbled from within the room. He must have hea

I wasn’t sure what gifts I should bring to let this pack know I truly wanted their aid and peace between our packs. However, with Dereck’s suggestions, we have a few things they will have at least some use for.The journey there was slow at first. Kyla’s wounds had healed mostly, but she had become slower and needed to eat more often than usual just to keep up her strength. At least she had made progress since we first rescued her, and Anita had assured us that Kyla would make a full recovery if given enough time.I was still worried about her coming with us. There was no way she could fight against anyone like this, but she refused to stay behind this time. I couldn’t deny her request after promising she could come with us, so we made do with how slowly she needed to go.What should have been a day or two’s journey turned into almost a week of travelling. Finally, Dereck alerted us when we neared the borders of his deceased mate&rs

A few weeks later...Stretching out on the enormous bed, I almost don’t want to get up. However, before I can sit up, I am suddenly attacked by two small bodies as they jump up and down, calling out my name.“Luna Kyla! Luna Kyla get up!”I can’t help but laugh as I grab the corner of the quilt and spring it up and over the two kids’ heads. Their squeals of delight echoes through my ears, causing a wide grin to grow on my face.“Who dares to awaken the bed monster?” I ask in a playfully rough growl. As the youngsters squeal and squirm under the blankets, I can’t help but feel a small sense of relief that they can still laugh. After the last battle against Vukasin, we lost so many of our pack, and as a result, many children were orphaned. Although we couldn’t take all of them in, we have taken in these two little rascals and they have settled down as well as can be expected. The others have been

I would be lying if I said I hadn’t hated every moment of taking Vukasin’s life, but I had made the decision and could not back down once I had made it. I wanted to be seen as Cedric’s equal, as a leader, and not just his mate.As I helped drag Vukasin’s corpse through the street and back to the main battle. Cedric waited for me to stand next to him before he nodded. When I was ready, the two of us let out a victory howl together. As soon as the nearest pack members saw their fallen alpha, they stopped fighting in shock. Soon enough, the cry of victory echoed throughout the area. I just hoped Vukasin didn’t have a beta or gamma that would seek revenge at the loss of their leader. When silence fell at last on the battlefield, I gazed out at the remaining packs and saw we had paid such a heavy toll on both sides. I wasn’t sure what would happen now, but the biggest hurdle was over. The only thing left now was dealing with Vukasi

I can hear Kyla and Vukasin fighting one another, but my eyes still sting from the dirt that bastard flicked into them. It takes me a while before I can get them clear enough to where I can see them again. Though it still stings, and my eyes water each time I open them.Vukasin has dragged my mate down in front of him, and I realise that if I don’t step in now, he will slaughter Kyla. My heart aches at the thought and before the worst can happen, I charge forward, forcing Vukasin to back up as I stand protectively over my mate. The two of us snarl at one another and I realise Vukasin’s hind leg is bleeding, and he isn’t putting any weight on it. Kyla must have done some damage, which I am thankful for. This should give us an edge in battle. In all honesty, I’m surprised Kyla had the resolution to fight with Vukasin. It makes me proud of her, to see how far she has come as a luna. Having the strength to get past her trauma and to fight an

I knew it would be risky to do this myself, but I couldn’t find anyone nearby that would be a better fit for this task. Going back to find Dereck or Joey would waste too much time and we couldn’t afford to wait any longer. We would miss our chance to end this quickly if I messed around trying to find and free up someone stronger.I watched Cedric chase Vukasin until he could guide him in the direction I had suggested. I knew my plan would work. It just meant I had to be careful when blocking the opposite way. I was sure I could distract him long enough for Cedric to do what he needed to do, it was just a matter of making sure he couldn't slip past me easily.Darting through the crowd of fighting werewolves, I find my way out of the chaos. Finally, I reached the spot before Cedric and Vukasin could reach it. I have a couple of things to do before they get here, but it wouldn't take me long at all.Transforming back into my human form, I grab the large

This fight has gone on for far too long, but I hadn’t expected it to be so easy. Even with the others flanking our enemy from the other side, this isn’t a straightforward battle. Vukasin has escaped my claws once again, though he hasn’t gotten far from me this time. However, I now have to deal with one of his warriors before I can continue my battle with him.I’m starting to think Vukasin is trying to tire me out by forcing me to fight as many of his warriors as he can throw at me. It is a cunning plan. To make me so tired that he can beat me easier. However, I know what he is trying to do, so I do the same. I have a warrior battle with him in return.I have to hand it to him. Vukasin is a formidable foe. However, dragging this fight out like this only makes it worse for both sides. We’ve already lost a fair number of warriors each and I can bet more lives will be lost. That might be an acceptable sacrifice to Vukasin, but not to me.

The pounding of my heart would not cease. I was exhausted, but we couldn’t stop even after we fought back the enemy. Their regrouping didn’t take long either after the two I had distracted had returned. However, with Joey’s help, the group thought twice about renewing the fight directly. There might have only been four of us, but we were formidable in our own ways and the enemy seemed to have understood that. However, they were not about to give up and walk away. They hounded us with each movement on our way back to the other group. They gave us no choice but to fend them off again and again. At this rate, we would be too tired to be of any help to Cedric and the others.Joey once more forced the last of our pursuers away from us before backing into the safety of our small group. “We need to rest,” he told us as he looked towards Rohn. “But if we rest, they will hound us even more. How frustrating.”I followed his gaze t

As I turned the corner, it seemed Dereck had gained the upper hand on the ones attacking him, but Rohn wasn’t fairing as well. He was old, though still putting up a fight. However, I realised something was wrong. Had they injured him in the fight? Whatever the reason was, he seemed almost lethargic. That’s when I realised what the problem was.Rohn must have known his mate was near death when she left his side, but if he had known of the exact moment she had died, I wasn’t sure. I heard tales of that being the case before but had never experienced it. If one could know the moment their mate died, then I was sure Cedric was still alive.Feeling there was hope, I charged forward and helped Rohn with the foe he was currently dealing with. Dereck would be fine for a while, but the old alpha would not survive against this young warrior for much longer.Just as the enemy was about to strike, I barreled into their side, knocking them off balance tempo

I was sure I had seen my mate when the second group had flanked our enemy, yet now I couldn’t see her anywhere. I had forced Vukasin back against the others, but now he had gotten out of my reach. Yet despite that, the continuous fighting meant I couldn’t leave to find out where Kyla had run off to.Sinking my fangs into the neck of a rival warrior, I waited for them to stop squirming before I pulled my maw away again. We had the advantage, and I knew we would win, yet not seeing Kyla anywhere had me distracted. Was she safe? Or perhaps she had been forced to retreat for now?And speaking of mates, where was Dereck? He should have been with the group, too. I hastily looked around, but couldn’t see him anywhere either. Two others were missing as well. The old luna and alpha from Silver-Sun pack. Has something gone wrong? Did Kyla get in trouble and they had gone to save her? Or was Kyla the one trying to save them?I wanted to leave the fight to
