I can’t believe that pack is yet again hounding my scouts! I had them merely monitoring the smaller pack along the southern border, more to judge if they were still going to be a threat to me and my pack now that I’m forced to take over, but no. They have to interrupt my scouts like the pests they are!
As soon as I arrive at the battlefield, I can see just how chaotic they’ve made it. Their beta has someone cornered against a large tree and, from what I can tell, he is also a beta, or perhaps an alpha?
My warriors continue into battle without me, giving me time to judge the fighting with my own eyes. I rarely bring myself into the middle of a fight, as my warriors usually disperse a crowd quickly.
This time, however, it might not be so simple. With three packs here, it is harder to tell which wolves belong to which rival pack. I’m not even sure they know who is who, either.
The smell of blood assaults my nose, but something sweet lingers in the air. I can’t quite tell what it is, but it has my heart racing. I try to ignore it at first, but then a gust of wind wafts the smell in my direction fully.
Citrus, though to be more specific, lemon? All I know is what that scent means. My mate is among these wolves, but I can’t see where she might be. From what I can see in the chaos, there aren’t many females here. You’d think that made this easier. It doesn’t.
I slowly stalk around the fighting, focusing on locating that scent above all the blood and sweat that masks almost everything else. No one is paying me any attention because of how involved they are in the fighting, but my warriors are handling things nicely, so I don’t have to worry yet. They know not to kill unless I give the order.
“Luna!”
I quickly gazed back at the pinned wolf, but whoever cried out for their luna wasn’t worried about that one, so he wasn’t an alpha. He seems to have regained the upper hand, or teeth, as it were. That answers my question of who he is. I once more study each wolf for my mate.
That’s when I catch sight of them. Only, it’s not a normal girl. They’re not even an omega! No, I have to be mistaken. Why would the Moon give me a luna as my mate? She no doubtedly already has an alpha as her mate, right? So why would I be mated to someone who already is a leader? Unless… her mate has died?
Studying the wolf before me fighting, she is mostly a brownish-grey but her head fades into almost white. Despite the cute colouration, I can tell easily enough what she is.
A luna.
My heart is pounding against my chest, and her scent is almost overpowering the smell of blood. I want to claim her already, but she hasn’t seemed to notice me at all. Even with me as close as I can get without joining in. This means she must be under the age of twenty.
Although we’re adults at eighteen, it isn’t until we reach twenty that we notice the signs of our mate being near us or not. Still, to be a luna so young is unheard of. Even though I am a little on the younger side, I am still within the right age range to be ready for the ascent.
Now that I have my mate within my sights, I know what I must do. Get rid of these foolish interlopers and claim her as mine. I can’t have some stupid mutt killing or harming my mate, even if she is an odd choice for the Moon to give me.
This means I must dirty my claws personally. Though for my mate, I’ll do whatever must be done. She may not need my protection, but she has it.
With that thought in mind, I charge at the two wolves at her heels and easily overpower them until they cower and flee from my sight. I turn to face my mate, but the look she gives me is one of disgust and hate.
I know she does not know who I am, but that still hurts.
Now that I have her up close, I can see that she is smaller than me. Though truth be told, I am way above average. She is probably normal for a luna.
What strikes me most is not her size or even the lovely fur pattern of hers - which is charming in and of itself, but those big, soulful brown eyes of hers. They’re so expressive and full of emotion.
The way she suddenly looks away from my gaze and lowers her ears, makes me realise my size is intimidating to her. I can’t help but crack a small chuckle, though whatever fear she has of me quickly vanishes as she suddenly lunges at me.
I easily avoid her teeth and she skids along the ground before turning back around to snap at my heels. Whatever plan she is trying to pull off really isn’t working for her, though. She is far too slow. Still, the challenge has been made and mate or no mate; I accept.
“Luna Kyla!”
“Don’t come closer!” Kyla shouts back at whoever it was who had called her. Kyla? So that is who she is. I had heard of the name but never had the chance to see her. The luna of Moonstone Pride pack.
I open my maw in a grin as I say, “a wise choice to make, little luna.” My tone is a little mocking, but only because this whole situation amuses me far too much. She is brave to come after me like this, though she probably assumed I had come for her life.
One of my warriors is quick to return to my side before Kyla attacks again, but I quickly stop him in silence. I don’t need any help with Kyla, but I need the other pack out of my way.
“Alpha Cedric?” He questions me without needing to question it out loud.
I shoot him a blunt look as I order, “remove the filth from my lands. We will deal with that pack another day. This one is mine.”
“Yes, alpha!”
With my warrior carrying out my order, I return my attention to my oblivious mate. She has that frightened look in her eyes again, even though her stance is that of an aggressor.
As I slowly circle her and she follows my actions cautiously, I know exactly what I must do. She would never believe me if I told her we were mates. It has never happened in any history they have taught me. An alpha gets an omega for a mate. That’s just how it always has been. It is an omega that becomes the luna.
Two leaders of a pack just never pair up. Why would she trust my word?
Instead, I’ll have a little fun with her. I would never hurt my mate in reality, but I am curious to see what skill she has. If the Moon picked her to be mine, then she must have some qualities that I will find useful. She never makes a mistake.
With each step forward, I can see the panic in her eyes, but she doesn’t back down. She knows she can’t flee or else her life is forfeit and her pack would be at my mercy.
She hasn’t even noticed the other pack has almost been completely driven away now, leaving her and what few pack members she brought here at my benevolence already.
Not that any of them can help her. My warriors have pinned them down to prevent them from interfering in our fight.
“Let’s see what you got, little luna,” I tease her, still finding my destiny highly amusing. I wonder what she will do when she finally finds out who I am?
From the moment he had taken down the two wolves who had attacked me, to when he stared me down, I knew right away who this wolf was. Or at least, knew what he was. He was an alpha and not one I could ever hope to win in a fight. He was large and fast, and his condescending tone made me want to bite his face off.I studied him carefully, his fur was a dark blackish-brown and his forest-green eyes stared me down in return.I might have been a luna, but just being there in his presence makes me feel inadequate. I avoided his gaze almost voluntarily from his alpha’s aura. Quickly enough, I realised I had no choice but to fight this man off. I had no one that would come for me. They had separated Dereck from me and I did not know if my pack had escaped or not.The only thought going through my mind when I lunged at this alpha was that I was going to suffer a slow, painful death, but maybe my pack would be safe for a little longer. The alpha easily avoids my lunge, which causes me to skid
I can’t look at my beta or any of my scouts as I surrender to the alpha before me, nor when he forces me to lead him and his warriors to my home. The rest of the pack will need to be collected, as we have no choice but to go back to his land.I imagine he wants me there with him, to ensure the rest of my pack doesn’t fight his pack. They’ll need to know he is their alpha now, too. I hate this. I hate it so much, but I can’t win against this alpha. He is just too strong.I can hear the panic in my pack’s voices as soon as they see me and the larger alpha next to me. They probably already know what is going on, with or without me telling them.I order them to gather everyone in the yard and it isn’t long before everyone is standing in the yard. Even with everyone here now, we would still be no match against this alpha and his warriors. It is scary to think that someone would be that powerful.Looking at all of my pack, the alpha holds his head high as he claims, in a loud and clear voic
As soon as she transforms into her human form, I can’t help but allow my eyes to roam all over her body. She is smaller than me, which I had expected just from her wolf form being smaller. Her black hair, hazel eyes and lightly toned chest are all eye-candy to me. How she tries to be modest almost makes it more sexual than I assume she had intended it to be. I can’t help but smile at myself. My mate is incredibly sexy even when she doesn’t realise she is. I almost have to pull myself out of a daze and hand her a single nightgown. “I am not sure if it will fit, but it is the smallest one I have,” I told her. Our fingers brush in the exchange, and it sends little tingles through them. I step behind Kyla and look at her back and arse up and down. I get the urge to fuck her but resist it. “How old are you?” I ask her instead. “E-eighteen,” Kyla replies, confusion filling her voice. I hum thoughtfully before watching her don my nightgown. It is not a good fit, but for now, it’ll do.
I feel so violated by this man, but worse than that; I feel betrayed by my own body. Why did it get aroused like that when he touched me? It is unacceptable for a luna to get turned on by another alpha or anyone that isn’t her mate. I follow Cedric to my new ‘room’ but I bet it is a jail cell or something awful. I hate this man so much! How dare he make me an omega and then touch me like that? I shoot him a few glares, but I am cautious that he doesn’t catch me in the act. Knowing my luck, he will punish my defiant look with something twisted. Though he said he didn’t have time, so hopefully this means I have some time to gather my thoughts? I have to figure out a way to escape this hell. I’m so lost in my thoughts that I don’t notice Cedric has stopped near the room we were just in. With a small thud, I bump into his back and blink in surprise. Why did he suddenly stop so soon? Aren’t we going to the dungeons? Glancing over his shoulder at me, I can’t tell what he is thinking, bu
Seeing Kyla’s reaction to my kiss really pleased me. She might not admit it, but there is no denying that she enjoyed it. If only she was ready for me to tell her the truth. She isn’t there yet, though. If I told her now, she would deny it, if not flat-out reject me. I don’t think I could take rejection. She is too cute to let her reject me like that. I’ll have to show her we belong together, that we need one another. Not sure how yet though. There must be a way, but I'll have to be patient and gentle with her. Gain her trust. Somehow, someway, I'll show her. As I leave the packhouse, I join the rest of my pack in helping settle down our new pack members. There is a bit of work to do, but I’m glad I got to this pack before any of the others realised just how weak they had become. Not that my mate is weak in and of herself, I can see she has a will to fight in her. It is just compared to the other packs. Her pack has just become too small to survive. I sigh as I oversee the new memb
The sunlight hits my face as morning rears its ugly head. I turn over in bed, trying to hide myself away from the light. That’s when I realised something. I hadn’t gotten into bed last night. I was too stressed about whether alpha Cedric came in and did things to me while I slept or not. I quickly sit up in bed, tossing the covers off to make sure I’m still in the nightgown he gave me. As I spot it, I sigh in relief. I don’t feel any pain either, so he never touched me in my sleep. Yet, he must have come in to put me to bed. Right? That man seriously confuses me. He could have easily killed me before. In fact, I had assumed that’s what he had come to do when he showed up. Instead, he made me bow down to him and he seems to have some strange kinks. At least, I think that’s what it is. Wish he would leave me out of it, though. A firm knock on the door alerts me to someone outside. Before I can deny whoever it is an entrance, the door is unlocked and Cedric strides in like he owns t
I wish I could bring Kyla with me and show her off to everyone in my pack, but right now I can’t guarantee she won’t try to run off at the first opportunity. It doesn’t seem fair to keep her locked up either, but what choice do I have right now? Then there are the other pack members. A girl like him would be instantly popular with the guys and unpopular with the women for being near me but not as my mate - even though she is. They annoy me enough as it is, but another leader that they can try their luck with? No way on the Moon will I ever let them near her without me around to protect her! It’s heartbreaking to be away from her, even if I haven’t gone far, but this additional matter needs my attention now. She probably isn’t happy with being locked up in her room, but I’ll make it up to her as soon as I get back. As I step into the war room, I cast my gaze over my warriors. “What’s the damage?” I ask, my tone taking on a more serious note. None of my warrior
I’m a little apprehensive about sitting next to alpha Cedric. He seems a little odd today, though. He seems much quieter than he usually is. I wonder if something is playing on his mind, but I don’t dare ask questions. I don’t want him assuming I’ve gotten weak. He sits there in silence for a while before finally leaning closer to me. I want to flee, but I have nowhere I can go. As I brace for him to do something strange to me again, he surprises me. Instead of his awkward touches, he leans his head on my lap and closes his eyes. I can feel my heart racing in my chest. Why does his every movement have my heart beating so swiftly like this? Am I really that afraid of him? Or is this something else? Whatever happens, I won’t let down my guard. Eventually, he will get bored with merely teasing me. I never want to be forced into anything, but I wonder if I can even defend myself from him? He is stronger than me and could just take anything he wanted. I gu

A few weeks later...Stretching out on the enormous bed, I almost don’t want to get up. However, before I can sit up, I am suddenly attacked by two small bodies as they jump up and down, calling out my name.“Luna Kyla! Luna Kyla get up!”I can’t help but laugh as I grab the corner of the quilt and spring it up and over the two kids’ heads. Their squeals of delight echoes through my ears, causing a wide grin to grow on my face.“Who dares to awaken the bed monster?” I ask in a playfully rough growl. As the youngsters squeal and squirm under the blankets, I can’t help but feel a small sense of relief that they can still laugh. After the last battle against Vukasin, we lost so many of our pack, and as a result, many children were orphaned. Although we couldn’t take all of them in, we have taken in these two little rascals and they have settled down as well as can be expected. The others have been
I would be lying if I said I hadn’t hated every moment of taking Vukasin’s life, but I had made the decision and could not back down once I had made it. I wanted to be seen as Cedric’s equal, as a leader, and not just his mate.As I helped drag Vukasin’s corpse through the street and back to the main battle. Cedric waited for me to stand next to him before he nodded. When I was ready, the two of us let out a victory howl together. As soon as the nearest pack members saw their fallen alpha, they stopped fighting in shock. Soon enough, the cry of victory echoed throughout the area. I just hoped Vukasin didn’t have a beta or gamma that would seek revenge at the loss of their leader. When silence fell at last on the battlefield, I gazed out at the remaining packs and saw we had paid such a heavy toll on both sides. I wasn’t sure what would happen now, but the biggest hurdle was over. The only thing left now was dealing with Vukasi
I can hear Kyla and Vukasin fighting one another, but my eyes still sting from the dirt that bastard flicked into them. It takes me a while before I can get them clear enough to where I can see them again. Though it still stings, and my eyes water each time I open them.Vukasin has dragged my mate down in front of him, and I realise that if I don’t step in now, he will slaughter Kyla. My heart aches at the thought and before the worst can happen, I charge forward, forcing Vukasin to back up as I stand protectively over my mate. The two of us snarl at one another and I realise Vukasin’s hind leg is bleeding, and he isn’t putting any weight on it. Kyla must have done some damage, which I am thankful for. This should give us an edge in battle. In all honesty, I’m surprised Kyla had the resolution to fight with Vukasin. It makes me proud of her, to see how far she has come as a luna. Having the strength to get past her trauma and to fight an
I knew it would be risky to do this myself, but I couldn’t find anyone nearby that would be a better fit for this task. Going back to find Dereck or Joey would waste too much time and we couldn’t afford to wait any longer. We would miss our chance to end this quickly if I messed around trying to find and free up someone stronger.I watched Cedric chase Vukasin until he could guide him in the direction I had suggested. I knew my plan would work. It just meant I had to be careful when blocking the opposite way. I was sure I could distract him long enough for Cedric to do what he needed to do, it was just a matter of making sure he couldn't slip past me easily.Darting through the crowd of fighting werewolves, I find my way out of the chaos. Finally, I reached the spot before Cedric and Vukasin could reach it. I have a couple of things to do before they get here, but it wouldn't take me long at all.Transforming back into my human form, I grab the large
This fight has gone on for far too long, but I hadn’t expected it to be so easy. Even with the others flanking our enemy from the other side, this isn’t a straightforward battle. Vukasin has escaped my claws once again, though he hasn’t gotten far from me this time. However, I now have to deal with one of his warriors before I can continue my battle with him.I’m starting to think Vukasin is trying to tire me out by forcing me to fight as many of his warriors as he can throw at me. It is a cunning plan. To make me so tired that he can beat me easier. However, I know what he is trying to do, so I do the same. I have a warrior battle with him in return.I have to hand it to him. Vukasin is a formidable foe. However, dragging this fight out like this only makes it worse for both sides. We’ve already lost a fair number of warriors each and I can bet more lives will be lost. That might be an acceptable sacrifice to Vukasin, but not to me.
The pounding of my heart would not cease. I was exhausted, but we couldn’t stop even after we fought back the enemy. Their regrouping didn’t take long either after the two I had distracted had returned. However, with Joey’s help, the group thought twice about renewing the fight directly. There might have only been four of us, but we were formidable in our own ways and the enemy seemed to have understood that. However, they were not about to give up and walk away. They hounded us with each movement on our way back to the other group. They gave us no choice but to fend them off again and again. At this rate, we would be too tired to be of any help to Cedric and the others.Joey once more forced the last of our pursuers away from us before backing into the safety of our small group. “We need to rest,” he told us as he looked towards Rohn. “But if we rest, they will hound us even more. How frustrating.”I followed his gaze t
As I turned the corner, it seemed Dereck had gained the upper hand on the ones attacking him, but Rohn wasn’t fairing as well. He was old, though still putting up a fight. However, I realised something was wrong. Had they injured him in the fight? Whatever the reason was, he seemed almost lethargic. That’s when I realised what the problem was.Rohn must have known his mate was near death when she left his side, but if he had known of the exact moment she had died, I wasn’t sure. I heard tales of that being the case before but had never experienced it. If one could know the moment their mate died, then I was sure Cedric was still alive.Feeling there was hope, I charged forward and helped Rohn with the foe he was currently dealing with. Dereck would be fine for a while, but the old alpha would not survive against this young warrior for much longer.Just as the enemy was about to strike, I barreled into their side, knocking them off balance tempo
I was sure I had seen my mate when the second group had flanked our enemy, yet now I couldn’t see her anywhere. I had forced Vukasin back against the others, but now he had gotten out of my reach. Yet despite that, the continuous fighting meant I couldn’t leave to find out where Kyla had run off to.Sinking my fangs into the neck of a rival warrior, I waited for them to stop squirming before I pulled my maw away again. We had the advantage, and I knew we would win, yet not seeing Kyla anywhere had me distracted. Was she safe? Or perhaps she had been forced to retreat for now?And speaking of mates, where was Dereck? He should have been with the group, too. I hastily looked around, but couldn’t see him anywhere either. Two others were missing as well. The old luna and alpha from Silver-Sun pack. Has something gone wrong? Did Kyla get in trouble and they had gone to save her? Or was Kyla the one trying to save them?I wanted to leave the fight to
