As my Mother joined in, I quickly hid behind Whadh, peeking through
"You… you mean you brought the berries?! Where are they?"
Whadh glanced behind him, meeting my eyes. He gently pulled me out but his hand was glued to my waist. We watched the people including my parents, eager all of a sudden.
"What's the berries all about anyway? Is it more important than my life?" I blurted out, softly.
"Those berries are not just berries like I told you." Whadh whispered into my ear, and I startled, almost meeting his lips when my head snapped. "I'll tell you some things you need to know."
Dina ? Are you two flirting with one another in front of your family or what?" Father's voice was laced with impatience.
Straightening my body, my slightly trembling finger pointed at the baskets filled with the shimmering berries. "Right there, in the baskets, Father. They are so sweet and fresh…"
Father almost knocked me down before I could finish. Whadh's grip was firm enough to keep me still. Stunned, I watched them all mesmerized by the berries illuminating their faces.
"Uh… son?" Father covered the berries and shifted his gaze at Whadh brushing diet off my hair. "You said you helped my daughter picked the berries?"
"Yes. But I'm not your son. Just your daughter's husband."
The women's faces flushed just like mine everytime Whadh spoke. His voice was obviously the tone they lacked.
