Chapter 4- Hot Mess

2024-10-29 19:42:56The crowd is silent. I don’t know if I am just feeling weirded out but their eyes are looking at me…like everyone is looking at me today in the library. My pants are exceptionally hanging into my waist while my black cotton shirt is simply tucked. Because I don’t have any friends, my favorite place in the library is right under the corner, where no one will be going to disturb me.
“We’re waiting for you.”
“ Too much mind linking is an abuse of power, Alpha.” I mocked Alpha Nicholas before I found him staring into me as I passed by the center of the library. There he was, comfortably seating while his twin is reading too many books. My first instinct is to not be seen but I wasn’t successful.
“ We reserved you a seat,” he said before my eyes widens when I saw what he’s referring to. This brute has a placard with my name on it, situated at one of the vacant chairs in their table. He’s happily watching my reaction and he seems proud about it.
My limit is reached. “The heck?!” He only grins at my reaction before he signals me to come into their direction. I turned around and was ready to leave the place when suddenly, Alpha Nicholas is hovering in front of me and looking deadly. The silent crowd became more silent and terrified..anticipating what he might do to me given our history.
“ Sit over there, now.”
He’s an asshole and arrogant Alpha. His voice is too brutal and serious that it sent me to the edge, wondering if he’s really my mate or not. I was trembling, that’s a given because this is how he talks to those who pissed him before. My hand is shaking when I placed my bag on the table and look at Alpha Antonio for help. But he wasn’t looking at me.
“ Ehrrrmm.”
Failed. He didn’t notice that I am staring at him for help. Alpha Nicholas snaps his fingers and the crowd continues their own things to do, not attempting to look in our direction.
“You’re making us obvious,” I hissed when I read the title of the books that Alpha Antonio is reading right now. Trio mate, History of a rare phenomenon, The curse of the moon goddess.
He only looked at me before he continues to jot down words. “Anton!” Someone hissed and that is his twin brother. “Alpha Antonio for you, little brat,” he snapped before I can feel his hands crawling into my legs under the table. I looked at Alpha Antonio for help but he didn’t seem to notice what his brother is trying to do.
His cold fingertips reached just beneath my skirt and suddenly Alpha Antonio snatched me to his side before he planted a kiss right into my lips which made the whole crowd gasped. “Listen, everyone.” Alpha Nicholas tried to protest but Alpha Antonio didn’t give him any chance because he’s at the top of the table and getting everyone’s attention.
“ Devon Creed is my mate, anyone who dares to do anything to her, you will have the pit of hell as your new home.”
He growls. A kind of growl that means a threat to anyone but I was too beyond shocked because of his possessiveness. He never dares to go against his brother or do anything like emphasizing his power to our pack but this is something…something that I don’t know about him.
“ Cabin, 10:00 p.m sharp.” Those is his last words to me before he gathered all of the books and strode out of the library. Alpha Nicholas slowly clapped his hands, grinning but there is a visible line of irritation in his eyes.
“ Got him wrap into your fingers, huh?” he whispers before he got up and slowly walk outside, trailing his brother. I can see the curious and annoyed stare of the crowd. Some girls are whispering about how lucky I am and about how I don’t deserve someone like their Alpha Antonio but no one dares to defy his threat.
Gladly, I spend my free hours in the library before I looked at the clock and notice that it is almost 10 in the evening. I gathered all of my things and quietly walked to my dorm before I was hit by something. It’s a piece of paper, crumpled and dirty. I looked around the dark hallways to saw who throw it but no one is around. It was just me and the darkness of the night.
“I know about your secret.” That is what’s written in the paper. My lips tremble when I read about it. I clutched the paper and looked around, one more time. However, there is really no one, not even the person who throws this paper.
Is this a threat or a warning? I don’t know but nevertheless, it makes me nervous about the consequences. Being in a trio mate is one thing but having a curse that was bestowed by the moon goddess itself is a sign of betrayal to the pack. They will isolate the three of us or worst they will kill us.
“ There you are!”
My body winced when Beta Xander spoke behind me. He’s smiling but then when he saw that I am beyond terrified, he looks curious all of a sudden. “You okay?” he asked before he looked around than looking at the crumpled paper in my hands. Immediately, I put in my bag before I tried to put on a smile.
“ I’m waiting for you,”
“ Huh?” shocked, I asked.
“ I mean, that’s Alpha Nicholas’s message for you. He sends me to make sure that you’re okay because he can’t mindlink with you earlier.”
Now, he looks more curious. “Trouble in paradise?” he asked. “Alpha’s Nicholas mind linking game is too strong and this is the first time that he can’t do it to someone,” he stated with his curious voice.
“ Who are you?”
I was a bit bewildered by his question but I continue walking faster.
“ You don’t know me?” I scoffed because he’s also Alpha Antonio’s beta and I am hanging with him around.
“ Are you really Alpha Antonio’s mate? Or are you Alpha Nicholas mate?”
His voice seeks answers that made me stopped my tracks.
“Or perhaps, you’re…both?” His brows wiggle like he’s just waiting for me to accept his traps.
I gulp to stop myself from stuttering. “That’s absurd haha.”
He watched me as I began laughing because of his point but there’s a part of him that tells me, he didn’t buy it.
“Absurd, huh?” he whispers before my eyes landed on the two-person who’s waiting right outside my dorm.
Alpha Antonio is furiously knocking on my door while Alpha Nicholas is leaning to the wall, with his pocket in his hands and cigarettes in his teeth.
Beta Xander smirked. “I don’t think so,” he teased before he disappears in the air leaving me wondering about what the heck does he know about us.
