Hello there, I hope you are enjoying my latest chapters. I feel like I'm not doing justice to it as I'm feeling unwell and my brain feels mushy. Anyway, I am open to corrections and would love you to drop your comments.
“If you think that's the right decision to make, I wouldn't stop you.” “But make sure to call every single day and let me know if he lays a finger on you. Remember, you are welcome here anytime, don't hesitate to come back whenever you feel like. In as much as I wish you would stay with me for longer, I won’t hold you back on your decision,” Mrs. Gladys said as soon as they ended the hugged. She flashed her a motherly smile, the corners of her eyes wrinkled as a lone tear tore out from her eyes. Phoebe hadn't thought about that part. She hadn't thought about how her leaving would affect the woman who had grown used to having her around. Sandy also seemed to understand what was going on, as she meowed non-stop. She wanted to help Lucas get back to his feet but ended up leaving another one lonely, a woman who was just coming out of her grieving state. As much as she felt like canceling all of her plans and staying back with the woman, she didn't think it to be the right thing to do
After just one week of staying with Lucas, Phoebe's understanding of him finally changed. It was as if she was living with a different man from the one she’d known. She’d had the wrong impression of him. With time, she concluded that he wasn’t that monster she had created of him in her head and that beneath his hard exterior was a soft heart, a kind man that anyone would want to get to know more. Yes, over the week, Lucas seemed to be slowly getting over his ex. His hair was now its normal length and that ugly beard was finally out of his face, revealing a well-defined jawline. He'd quit drinking and would spend hours in his home office, running the affairs of his companies he had abandoned since. He did everything in his power to make sure that she was comfortable, and never complained about her cravings or frequent throw-ups, even when the child belonged to his enemy. He was bent on making her see how sorry he was for his actions. That day, Lucas had decided to make her lunch
Marcy smiled back at her as Phoebe stared at her like she'd seen a ghost. “Long time, no see. Where have you been?” she asked. “I heard Lucas sacked all of his workers so what are you doing here?” Marcy furrowed her brows as realization finally hit her. “The other staff have been fired?” “I had taken leave the day after you had gone out with the young master. My mother was ill,” she said before Phoebe noticed how the corners of her lips had pulled down. “What is wrong? I hope she's fine now.” “Well, the doctors said she's got cancer. My worry now would be how to get money for her treatment, this job is my only means of livelihood and I wouldn't want to be fired.” “You won’t be fired okay, I will make sure of that. Come on, sit with me,” Phoebe consoled as she suddenly felt like she had gone back in time. She understood exactly what Marcy was going through at the moment. “Don't worry your mother would be fine okay? Does anyone stay with her at the moment?” “Yes, my youn
Lucas paced up and down his room, his palms caressing his temples with him deep in thought. As if he was been controlled by some unseen force, he ended his movement abruptly, his head perking up as he stared towards the nightstand. Exhaling, he began to walk towards his nightstand where he picked up his phone that was lying there. Scrolling through the lists of contacts saved to his phone, he paused as his thump danced above a name. Convincing himself that he was making the right choices and that his actions wouldn’t be misinterpreted, he dialed the number. His heart thumped against his chest the more the phone rang, and he felt the strong urge to end the call. Just as he was about to do that, the call connected, her voice sailing through the speakers. “Took you long enough, handsome,” A frown marred his face on hearing the cheerfulness in her voice. What gave her the audacity to be happy? What right does she have to happiness, after what she’d done to him? Swallowing hard,
The door was opened to reveal Phoebe, who stood rooted in her position as her eyes scanned his countenance. He exposed his teeth for her in a smile while he inwardly prayed she didn't notice some foul play. “Is everything okay?” she asked, as he paved the way for her to enter. “Yeah, I'm good. Come inside.” Phoebe looked for him for a while before she walked into his room and he closed it behind her. Her nostrils picked out the scent of burnt paper underneath a rosy scent. She turned back and looked at him but he only gave out a chuckle. “What do you want?” he asked. And when Phoebe said nothing but fixed him with a questioning glance, he added, “I mean, why are you here?” Phoebe furrowed her eyebrows as she wondered what was up with him. Why did it seem like he was in a hurry to see her gone? He was just seeing her that day as she’d been in the bathroom when he got back from work. Brushing it away to be work stress, she went on. “Uhm-I- Marcy is back,” She struggled with
After much persuasion, Phoebe decided to believe his words and pass the night with him. In as much as he tried to keep up with his hard exterior, she saw right through him. She was a bit offended that he didn’t trust her enough and would rather keep things to himself, but what he didn’t know was that he was killing himself the more he tried to keep his feelings bottled up. “Okay,” she sighed, as she turned to face him, her eyes not missing the victory look he had on. But they were gone as soon as they appeared that she wondered if she’d seen anything and it wasn’t just her head. She walked back to his bed where she sat down and fondled with her fingers. Lucas stared at her, a pang of pain hitting him at how tense she seemed to be whenever he was close to her. He was aware that she was still wary around him but he couldn’t blame her though. He would have to put more effort into making her feel at ease when close to him. “Give me about thirty minutes,” he said as he began to unb
In the space of minutes, Lucas seemed to have aged a few more years, the corners of his lips sagged and emotionless eyes stared into space. Having stayed with him for long, she could tell exactly what he was going through. She knew how much he would be asking himself what went wrong. What had he done? What had he not done? There was no doubt that he'd given his all to this woman, loved her to the moon and back and that was why he couldn't heal from her. As these thoughts circled her mind, Phoebe found herself pulled towards this man. It felt like there was a magnetic force, which hauled her nearer to him. Her legs guided her to him where she wiped a lone tear that had fallen from his eyes before pulling him in for a hug. But as soon as her body made contact with his, she pushed herself away from him with so much force that her eyes darted down his body. Lucas was dressed in just a towel, his whole body a feast laid out for her eyes, which wasted no time as they explored him. H
Phoebe stirred in her sleep, her eyes opened up in the process and a light contented sigh escaped her lips. Lucas wasn't in the room anymore, leaving the big bed for her. She held unto her head, feeling a bit nauseous bur couldn't throw up. Staring at the door, a smile flashed on her face as she remembered the events of the previous night.Lucas had kept to his word and didn't touch her throughout the night, even in their aroused state. He hugged her from behind and held on tight to her like he wanted her inside of him. She'd be scared at first, well not scared if she must be honest when her butt made contact with his bulged sex but after he had reassured her, she finally relaxed into his arms, deriving pleasure in the way warmth seeped through her. She'd slept off only to wake up later that night, having mad cravings for pork meat and when she thought he would get upset about her waking up in the middle of the night, he had got up and hugged her, before going to prepare the meat and
A surge of emotions filled Phoebe as she stared at the man, his strong finger on her lips and his eyes stripping her of her clothes. She could see the fright that lingered in the depth of those eyes, as he waited for her reply. She knew exactly the way he felt as her heart was also engaging in crazy stunts. “Before you say anything, I would love for you to hear what I have to say,” Lucad finally said after some time, his voice having a croaky edge to it and his eyes, teary. He looked away from her and Phoebe was sure it was to prevent her from seeing his tears. “It was never expected,” his hands left her lips and cupped her face as he spoke. He stared into her eyes, hoping that she would see how desperate he was for her, he wished she would see how much he loved her and wanted her for himself. “I love you, Phoebe. I know you are tired of hearing me say this by now but I wouldn't stop saying it. Even if you were to reject me, it wouldn't change anything. It would hurt me real bad
After she'd taken her bath and was done with her morning routine, Phoebe laid down on her bed with a new novel she wanted to read. She read the synopsis and as the book promised an adventurous journey, she delved right in, inhaling the delicious scent of the new book. Her day revolved around reading books, eating, and sleeping for the past week. After she'd confided in Marcy and heard what she had to say regarding Lucad and herself, she had decided to talk to Mrs. Gladys and Annie, telling them about the turmoil she was facing and also seeking their advice. While Mrs. Gladys had been happy for her, telling her to follow her heart and chase what makes her happy, Annie had been very unpleased with the situation, as she insisted that Lucas had finally trapped her in his webs of deception. Annie thought Lucas needed her and also her child in his plot to exact his revenge. For someone who had kidnapped her for the sole purpose of that and had held on to hate for the past eight years, it
Phoebe picked up a flower in the garden and inhaled it, letting the sweet scent take her mind away from the crazy stunts that her mind engaged itself in. She couldn't love Lucas, not with all that was at stake’ her mind kept warning her, but it did nothing to help as it felt like there was a stronger force somewhere that hauled her towards him. She knew the best thing to do was to leave his house and stay with Mrs.Gladys as loving him would only spell doom for her. Yet it was so hard for her to take that step or even think about it. What about his crazy ex who threatened to make your life miserable if she came an inch close to him? What if all he said turns out to be a lie? What if he was seeking revenge? What would you do if he abuses your child the way he did you,” The voice in her head kept saying, making her wrap both hands over her ears to prevent her from hearing the voice. As much as everything in her told her that she should avoid him as it spelled more danger than go

Phoebe sat on the swing at the garden with a book in her hand which she glanced at from time to time as she tried to concentrate but her mind seemed to be on a different mission. After trying a little more, she finally gave up and began to walk around the garden allowing her thoughts to lead her. She'd just concluded her check up with the doctor who told her that both her and her child were safe and away from danger. After her little discussion with Marcy few days ago, Phoebe got into an internal conflict as she fought with herself against the way she’d started to feel of recent. Even though she had no answer to give Marcy after she'd asked her that question, but in the dept of her heart, she knew the truth but was still in denial. But all her walls came crashing down after her appointment with her doctor. “No, he can't love me? I cannot love him,” she mumbled to herself as she walked around in circles, inhaling the beautiful scents of the flowers. She glanced back to the white
Phoebe’s exterior softened on hearing him become vulnerable in front of her. She'd still not gotten used to him being that way. A tear slid down from her face as she watched as he forcefully swallowed down saliva. Guilt f hit her as she realized that she hadn't fully forgiven him and was still judging him based on mistakes of his past. Now, as she thought about it, it made more sense as to how he'd jumped in and saved her. Because to Ella, she was his fiancee, and saying that she was pregnant with another man’s child was like her saying she cheated on her brother with another man. As Phoebe thought about all of that, her arms subconsciously circled around the neck of the handsome man who was bent in front of her, pulling him in for a hug. She held him tightly to herself, wanting to take away the pain or atleast half the pain of what he felt. Lucas’s body stiffened as he'd been taken by surprise. He tried raising his head to catch a glimpse of her face but he couldn't as the hug w
Phoebe was surprised as she turned back to see Lucas strolling towards her, his strides purposeful and his eyes darkened with something she couldn't pinpoint. She gulped down saliva as she felt the words she’d wanted to say grasp her throat. What was he up to? She wondered as he approached, his facial features not giving out any hints. But his eyes…they said a lot. As if the drama his sister had just played wasn't enough, there he was wanting to add to it. Her initial fury at him dispersed into thin air and in its place, a feeling she couldn't explain. Her heart jumped with anticipation and fright but in a good way. Instinctively, she began to move backward, the frown dispersing from her face and worry clouding her features. Was he wanting to play along with his sister's game? She was certain that he was up to something. Lucas kept moving towards her, deriving pleasure in the way she reacted with every step he took towards her. What was going through her mind? He wondered as he k
After they had finished with their meal, they strolled around for sightseeing before they finally decided to head home as it was well into the day and the sun was now at its peak. They got home to learn that Lucas was working from home that day and had been in his home office since they left. As much as Phoebe needed answers to her questions, she knew she had to wait as he was busy. But as she walked up to her room with the intent of freshening up and reading a novel till he was done, Tracy pulled her with her as she headed towards Lucas’s office. She gave her questioning glance to know what she was up to, but having learned a few things from Tracy, she knew her to be up to mischief whenever she had that sinister smile on and her eyes glinted like they were now, she knew she was up to go good. “Let me go freshen up, i sweated so much today,” Phoebe said in an attempt to get off Tracy’s hook but it didnt work as she only tightened her grip on her hand. “Let’s just say hello to hi
Stevie broke into a laughter that didn't reach his eyes as he gave Phoebe one last stare before she outstretched her hand in a very funny way. “Well, it's a good thing to have come here as Stevie’s collection is just what what you need,” Stevie said as she switched to business mode, the unreadable expression on her face finally gone. With that, she clapped her hands and half dozen og her employees circled her. “Baby clothes, the best pieces,” she ordered as they glanced amongst themselves before they dispersed into different corners of the room, Stevia included. All the while they engaged in the conversation, Phoebe felt bodily present but absent-minded as she kept thinking of how deep a problem Lycas’s little lie would cause in the future. It was obvious they wouldn't be able to keep up with the lie as she would leave once she’d given birth to her child. What then would he tell his family? That she'd broken up with him and ran away with his child? That the child turned out to be
