AUTHOR'S POV
Meanwhile, Nicky had gone to see the king.
"Nicky." The king greeted her cheerfully as soon as she walked in.
"Good morning, your highness." She replied, curtsying right after. His profile was aloof, and color had returned to his face. It was unusual to see the king happy at a time like this.
"You are happy; this calls for celebration, I guess." She said this as she walked towards him.
"It's good to maintain a sunny disposition every time." He said that, and the conversation picked up from there.
Since he was already in a good mood, she could state the reason she was there.
"What say you about the maltreatment meted out by Stiles to Amelia?" She inquired, and the king was completely taken aback. That was none of her business.
"How does it concern you?" He asked.
She noticed his frown and quickly rushed to save the situation. "Em, you know, I was j
Authors POVMelissa continued her torrent of taunting towards Cisca, and Cisca couldn't wait for the punishment to be over. In the past few days, she hadn't seen Alden or any of the princes because she was always exhausted from cleaning." How are you coping?" Alden's voice drew Cisca out of her thoughts. He started at her impassively. He thought she had been avoiding him, only to hear that she had been posted to the horse's stalls." Fine." She replied. Alden handed her a handkerchief, which she used to wipe her sweaty brows." Thank you." She replied as Alden also handed her a bottle of water." You're welcome." He said. She was sweaty and sticky; a common occurrence for the past few days." Who assigned you here?" Alden inquired. It was stressful for only one person to clean the whole place up." Queen Nicky." She replied. Alden was fu
AUTHOR'S POV "N-nothing." Amelia replied. Her eyes widened in fear. Stiles took the envelope and proceeded to the king's room.He marched towards the king's room and knocked on the door."Come in." A gruff voice spoke, and Stiles marched in."Why are you up this early?" The king asked because it was so rare to see Stiles before everyone rose. He had always been a late riser."I received a letter." He said it and presented it to the king."What does it say?" He inquired as he looked at the envelope."It says there is an uprising higher than you can ever think of." Stiles said. The king sat upright. The person kept warning about a possible war, and up until now, there has been no sign of anything."Who is this person?" the king muttered aloud. Why haven't they shown their faces?"It's good that you brought it here. Inform Alden about it, and we will proceed from there." He said.Stiles searched for Alden, though he was angry about the king's decision to tell Alden about the letter. Tha
That was their thought, and they continued their chores. Cisca and Reagan bonded. What was intended to be a punishment ended up being fun for them. They even made friends with the horsemen."I think he likes you." Reagan nodded subtly at a good-looking man. He came to purchase horses from their pack.Cisca glared at her. The sun filtered into her eyes."Why do you say so?" She asked."He has been staring at you like he could eat you," Reagan replied, and Cisca rolled her eyes. She was not attracted to anyone else except Alden."That's not on my agenda right now," she replied.Reagan laughed heartily. She knew Cisca would reply that way."I mean..." She shrugged. The man walked up to them, and Reagan beamed at him."Good afternoon, ladies..." He greeted. They greeted him back p
AUTHOR'S POVCisca held her cheek, the weight of Nicky's palm eating into her skin. Her head was turned to the other side. Nicky glared at Cisca. She never wanted to listen. "Look here, tramp, I have told you to stay away from my son. Haven't I?" She asked, and Cisca nodded solemnly. She wasn't at fault for what was happening. Martin refused to leave her alone."What have you done to my son?" Nick demanded, and Cisca clutched her face. Her face still stung after a while."Nothing, ma'am." Cisca replied, wondering what the Queen assumed she had done to Martin. In her defense, Martin always sought her out. He never seemed to take no for an answer whenever she tried to avoid him."I warn you again; this is the last warning. Do not let me see you with my son. You are not of his class, and neither will I ever accept you as his wife." She spat.Cisca nodded in understanding; she had another lover, and Martin didn't come close
" What is wrong with her?" Alden asked rushing into the hospital. "Prince Alden, please you need to be calm." The Doctor replied. Alden was very annoyed at his speech. "Explain why she has been asleep for days." He demanded. Doctor Bart, adjusted his glasses on his nose. He didn't have an explanation either. It was odd because the tests didn't reveal anything. She was perfectly okay. " According to the tests results, he parameters are okay." He said, and Alden waited for a further explanation. If nothing was wrong with her, why then was she refusing to wake up. " Make me understand this." He said, and Dr. Bart sighed. He didn't get why Alden was so worked up over the girl, they weren't connected. " I really do not know what is going on with her." He admitted, and Alden gaze swung up, resting on Cisca who was lying on the bed. _She could die._ That was the thought that came to Alden's mind. He waved it off immediately. He didn't want to consider that option yet. Dr.Bart watc
AUTHOR'S POVCisca woke up at midnight and was shocked to see herself lying on the hospital bed. Her hands felt clammy, and she was sweaty all over. Then she saw Reagan sitting on a chair in the room, and the events of the day she fainted, came rushing back to mind, and sadness enveloped her heart.Reagan felt like someone was watching her, and she raised her head. She saw Cisca's eyes trained on her, and she was very scared. Cisca wasn't saying anything, she was just staring at her intensely. " How are you feeling?" she inquired to break the nerving silence, yet Cisca still kept mum. It was beginning to creep Reagan out for she stood up immediately, and walked quietly to Cisca's bed." Please don't touch me," Cisca whispered in a quiet voice. She was yet to process it, and she didn't want to say irrevocable things. It was better not to say them than to ask for forgiveness later. " I'm sorry." Reagan apologized and retracted her hands. There was a lot she wanted to say, but she he
AUTHOR'S POVThe chirping of the birds, and the soft movement of the leaves close to Cisca's room woke Cisca up. When are you going to open your eyes?" she spoke, Alden refused to open his eyes, enjoying the ministrations she was dishing out." imagine I am still asleep." He said, and tilted his lips into a smile." Really?" Cisca said, and went on to rub his naked chest. He lost his shirt in the midnight because of the heat." Hmm." He moaned, as her hands went lower. He was very angry at not seeing her and she knew that she would be in trouble if she didn't show up today. She had missed three days of meeting, with no message to them. He might think that she was avoiding giving him the money. They had an agreement. since she couldn't pay him at once, she would pay him everytime they met as long. She made sure no one was following her, as she turned the curve."Is there anything, you have to tell me?"
