STEFAN MCCOY
"Boss. We've got news" from where Stefan sat, in the midst of the girls who shaked their asses With seduction. Stefan kept on looking at the girls, clearly ignoring the men who had ripped bodies and were clad in all black. Stefan was on a whole different vibe, taking a drag from his cigar as he puffed on the ass of one of the girls who wore less clothing than a table top. "Boss..." Desperation evident in his voice as one of the men that stood still said, the one who spoke earlier, trying to get his attention. "Yes?" Stefan sounded even more sinister and more distant than they recognised. "It's urgent sir" the same man replied, still on the edge. "Isn't everything urgent?" Stefan looked dead at the man go stood good few inches away from him. "Sir..." He persisted, earning dangerous eye from Stefan "... It's about the chameleon" that got Stefan to stand up abruptly, even though there was currently a girl who was giving her all on top of him. He pushed her away severely, she shrieked wildly but Stefan was not about to give a care in the world. He had bigger fish to fry. He asked briskly, towards the exit to where his black Mercedes sat across the VIP club. "What sort of news?" Stefan anted to cream, finally seated with the man who brought news to him as Stefan always did. Who ever brought him news of whoever as his prey, was who he had business with. He trusted no one and did so by killing people off with the lightest inconvenience, this man had an extreme case of super luck with the way he handled himself earlier. "Well, news reaching me from my sources is that his son; Alex is bout getting married" Stefan had shock waves coming from very angle of his body. "Married?" Stefan seemed to try to digest the important information that just left his lips. "Yes sir" he replied. "To whom?" He asked, his brow crafting wicked and deadly plans from the arch they drew. " That is the one information they have kept under tight lock and key, but I should get the information in no time sir" the man was visibly shaking from the intense stare Stefan launched at him. Stefan turned his face towards the window, looking out to the now empty streets of New York. Streets that belonged to him, no matter who had a say in the matter. The man relaxed for the first time since he brought the news. A gun cocked, the cold hard steel kissing the temple of the man, he was tempted to close his eyes and be the part of him that was scared shitless. Instead, he kept his eyes open and looked straight ahead, praying that even if today happened to be his last, he was going to go with fake bravado. "You better not be lying to me. I'll fuck you up so bad, you'd wish you died. Do you understand me!" He spoke ith rage that was always there whenever he spoke about the chameleon or if his topic was even brought up in the first place. "I swear on my life sir. I would never lie to you and right now I am not playing you. My source is real and trusted" The Man said again. Stefan kissed his teeth with his Tongue and if it wasn't for the viable information that was en route, he for sure would have blown his head off. Mainly because he was a pest and disturbed him just before he could use those ladies. It was over now, his dick was flaccid nd he had absolutely no interest in what ever those women had in mind and whatever he had in mind as well. All he wanted to do was to go home as soon possible to plot and plan how on Earth he was going to unearth the thorn that kept on poking in places he was not wanted. The McKenzie's days were outrageously numbered, he was going to get all that he deserved. Soon, nothing was going to stop him from been the one and true lord of the mafia ring. He was going to collect everything they had, that they had very invested. Rage boiled his blood as the car stayed silent, with him still gazing at the streets looking for nothing in particular. He made up his mind that he as going to fuck a girl to extinction to celebrate his incoming victory as he tasted it in his mouth. Revenge was sweeter than what they portrayed it to be. "Get me the best girl and a bottle of martini. I want her over your shoulders. Do you understand me?" Stefan asked and the man dared not answer in any other way asides from nodding. "Now. Get the fuck out of my car and do exactly what I asked you to or else, the only thing you'll be wrong would either be stars or the last six seconds of your life" with a curt nod, the man dashed out. Darlene "So a month?" Carefully I asked because I was sick of trying to get to live in a world where I could deceive myself that none of this as actually happening. "Yes dear. A month" my mum took a plate of egg rolls and stuffed them In the showglass. I was so resigned. I hated this so much, I wanted to kick down everything. It didn't make sense and yet my dad was been the most unreasonable person ever. The bell to the door chimed musically, alerting us that we had a customer. "I'll be there in a minute!" I shouted from behind the counter as I turned my back trying to pick at a few things. I turned around and my breath caught in my throat. I badly do wanted to be imagining what I saw.DARLENE I swallowed hard and stared straight at the table, eyes nearly popping right out of my sockets. "What?" My voice was in whispers that came out strangled and unheard. I wished I had walked into anything else. Anything else other than the entire Mckenzie family sitting there, on a table in my Dad's bakery. I recognized Mr Mckenzie anywhere and in any form. Every now and then, he loved to show face in my father's bakery and bless us with all sorts of money and gifts that, if I do say so myself, were actually very unnecessary. I hadn't seen the rest of the family before, but I didn't need to be told twice that the beautiful woman who sat by his left and the two handsome men who rounded the other quarter of the table, were the rest of the family; their aura stood out like a gem in the midst of full stones. They oozed off regality in all shades and with heads held high and shoulders poised in the air, postures straight and confident, even while sitting, anyone could have been a
I wanted someone to wake me up from my nightmare. This nightmare. The more I breathed, the more I realized how real this was. How I was going to get married to this man. This man whom I barely even knew. Don't get me wrong, Alexander Mckenzie was gorgeous. He was absolutely breathtaking. And ridiculously, even. So far, he seemed to have a well mannered behavior too. I liked the air around him, how sophisticated and chill, nearly mysterious it was. I liked how he seemed to listen more and talk less, while Idid the reverse. That was even a shock to me because I was extremely nervous the entire time. I was awkward too. I wasn't sure what to say or how to act, so I spoke out the first thoughts that came into my head and blabbed it without a filter. And maybe, he also had a good sense of humour. Because once in a while, he seemed to chuckle slightly at my stutters. Alexander seemed like a great man. However, I barely knew him. And one thing was certain; amidst all that silk hair, pret
"You like flowers?" Alexander McKenzie's voice was gruff and I was aware that behind the short curtain of hair that'd fallen over my face as I bent to admire a hibiscus bush, he was watching me."I do! Even the ugly ones!" I gushed, unable to help the smile that lifted my already high cheekbones. Flowers and cakes and maple syruped donuts, I wondered if that made me a typical romcom barbie."I don't, all that hardwork for a few pretty days before they wilt and die off." The man muttered, the toned muscle of his bicep flexing through the silk line of his crisply ironed suit.Yes, I imagined he much preferred everything plastic. It reminded me of Laura Diego, my best-friend since ever. She'd vehemently denied getting any work done, but I'd noticed the lift of her big foxy eyes.I wondered what she would think of the Mafia prince."Huh." I settled for instead, and he cleared his throat, rubbing the nape of his neck awkwardly."So, what was your childhood like?" I fished, unsure why I wa
DARLENE"W-when do you want to set the date?" I squirmed shyly, it was all happening too fast, I didn't know two things about picking out a wedding dress, although I suspected a man like Alexander would handle it."Anytime from now, I want my wife in my bed with me as soon as possible." He chriped calmly and I stifled yet another scream as my breath hitched in my chest."Of course, no …wifely duties would be required of you Darlene…at least not immediately." He soothed, choking an awkward laugh when he caught on my no doubt mortified expression.I wasn't scared of being with him, far from it, haters would have said I was even looking forward to it!I just wouldn't know what to do with myself, in their big stone mansion, in bed, next to this handsome man."Uh, great!" I hollered with way more enthusiasm than was healthy."Do you always do that?" His velvet voice thrummed through me as I whipped my head to him sharply.Do what? What was I doing?"Bite your lips like that when you're ner
ALEXANDERThe Limo ride back to McKenzie manor was everything short of teeth-chatteringly depressive."It's time you fought for your place and stopped fooling around!" My father's authoritative baritone was clipped as he flexed his hands in the car just as Fredrick's thick hands wrapped around his neck in a choking motion, the swamp water green of his eyes rolling upwards before he grinned at me.I resisted the urge to bark out a laugh, it was the kind of thing that would have made the veins on pops forehead bulge with disciplinarian disappointment. What had he been on about? Shit, I hadn't been listening. The half crescent moons of his sharp grey-blue eyes snapped to me in the rearview mirror before flicking back to the stretch of asphalt. He looked like Fredrick in that moment, same narrowed eyes and unreadable expression. Most times I'd wondered if my younger brother were carved out of some punk-kid teen manga, the little imp sure acted like it."Yes father," I nodded, agreeing to
DARLENEDinner on the rosewood dining table was frosty, and it wasn't just because we'd been holding back on the cooker for the electricity bill.It had more to do with Stella's attitude, the way she was stabbing at the cold chicken sandwich with the bread knife would have sent a medieval knight running for the hills."I've just about had it with you Ella, what is with the attitude today?" Mum barked, slapping her knotted hands down on the table so hard Dad's sandwich rattled in his white ceramic plate."Oh I dunno, maybe it's the fact that my parents think it's okay to sell off their fucking daughter to some drug lord for a fat check!""Language!" I hissed reflexively, just as a huge wallop of smoke left Mum's ears as she pushed back in her seat."Now now, no one's selling anyone off pumpkin, Darlene's doing what's best for the family-" Dad's easy voice soothed before Stella cut him off again as I glanced between the two of them, the sandwich frozen half way to my mouth.Shit, this i
ALEXANDER"Listen closely son, what I'm about to tell you, no one can ever find out."That was six hours ago, in the basement of one of my father's cold rooms where he'd given us the briefing of our next hit just before my wedding." Earl Kosker, new in the game, made off with a hundred million off one of the ring's elite, get the money clean or dirty, just no traces to us, how you punish him is your business." My father's warning ricocheted between my ears as Fredrick fishtailed the matte- black G-wagon into the neatly kept estate where the target lived. He'd permed the unruly strands of his short yellow hair backwards so he looked like a business man, a particularly mischievous business man."Quit staring Sherlock, all you gotta do is ask and I'd take care of that balding hairline for you in no time." My brother grumbled, flicking air behind his ear.I ignored him, I did not have a balding problem, my hairline ran almost all the way to my thickset eyebrows. Fredrick on the other han
"So this is the day." Ironic because one thing I thought I would never have to do in my life is sit in front of the mirror to have some cheesey soliloquy go on between me and my reflection. Truth be told, I never thought that there would be a day that I would be putting on a wedding dress for a man whom I have spoken to, just one or two times. I guess that some things happened beyond our control. Sometimes, you get to see yourself doing and being the very things that you would have last expected from or for yourself. Like me. Ordinary girl like me, getting married to a man as rich, affluent and influencial as Alexander Mckenzie. An ordinary girl like me looking this beautiful on my own wedding day. "Wow," I spoke again, surprising myself with yet another word of soliloquy. I couldn't help, but stare at the mirror and admire all there was to admire about myself. Truly, I had never looked this beautiful before. I had never had so much preparation and work done on me by people who
