The more I calm down, the more awkward this entire situation seems.“Alright, I should make a few calls, let people know what's happened and where I am. Why don't you go change?” he suggests. I glance down at myself and realise that my clothes are all dirty from where I sat on the ground. I nod and make my way to my room. I turn off the water and hear Bellamy talking to someone. I wrap myself in a fluffy towel and exit the bathroom. Curious, I make sure I'm properly covered with the towel before opening my bedroom door and sticking my head out.“Bellamy, is someone here?” I question. He doesn't get a chance to answer as Maggie peers around his shoulder. She raises an eyebrow at my appearance.“Good morning sweetie. I woke early and made some muffins. I thought I might bring a few up for you. For your... gentleman friend too I suppose.” She says pointedly. I blush as I realise how this looks. I glance at Bellamy who shrugs at me helplessly. I step out from behind the bedroom door, desperate to explain myself to Maggie. Not that I've actually done anything wrong. But Maggie is my friend and I don't want her to misunderstand me. As I emerge, Bellamy's eyes go wide, then he suddenly finds something terribly interesting to stare at on my ceiling. His response isn't missed by Maggie who gives a short laugh.

She seems nervous. I frown. Why do they keep assuming my automatic reaction is going to be hate. Seriously. They shift into cats, not horrifying monsters. I was so busy trying to figure this out that I forget to answer Megan who is getting increasingly agitated. Bellamy nudges me to get my attention. I whip my head around, somewhat confused as I had been so distracted. A quiet voice from behind Megan draws my attention. Darrien, I hadn't even noticed him standing there. He's smiling and his voice is amused.“She's just fine, Miss Kane. Look at her shirt.” Megan's eyes drop to my shirt and she starts laughing. Darrien joins in quietly, he can't seem to help himself. I read the note, then re-read it again. Bellamy apologised? To me? I am in complete shock. But why? Not to mention, I was never upset with him. I hadn't even considered that the attack was any fault of his or that I should blame him for it. He must have been feeling really guilty if he actually decided he needed to apologise. I collapse into a nearby chair at a currently unoccupied table and drop my head into my hands. I can't believe he apologised. True, it was via a note. But I have no problem with that. Direct or not, the apology was sincere and that's all I care about. I'm struck by the desire to see him and to give him a hug. “Are you sure...” Bellamy trails off. I nod. He gives in pretty much immediately. Well that was easy. I sort of expected him to argue a little more. Well, whatever. He settles back into the bed. I crawl over the end of the bed and back into my spot. He flicks the lamp off and the room looks totally black as I adjust to the sudden darkness. A few minutes later I begin to make out a few shadowy shapes. I glance at Bellamy beside me, he doesn't seem to be asleep yet. He notices my movement. Except I only really moved my eyes. This tells me two things. One; Bellamy has much better night vision than I do which is hardly surprising for a feline Shifter. Second; he was using the night vision to watch me.“You're still awake?” He whispers.“Yeah, I guess.” I reply.“Umm. Ryann?” he starts. I tap Darrien on the arm to let me see. He moves to the side a little to reveal Maggie's grandson Logan. The eleven year old looks pale and sweaty. His blond hair is almost plastered to his head. He's bundled up in a thick jacket and looks completely miserable.“Logan!” I shove Darrien out the way, he moves aside which is good because me pushing him likely had little effect.“Sweetie, are you okay? You look a mess. Where's your mum? What are you doing here? You didn't walk here did you?” I stop myself to give him a chance to answer. A couple hours later, Darrien and I are sitting playing Monopoly at the table when there's a knock at the door. Darrien answers it and returns with a package of food. I'm grateful for the diversion because he is absolutely dominating the game. He is far more competitive than I would have expected. He drops the package on the bench and I open it up. I find three, tightly sealed containers of what looks like chicken soup as well as some fresh, warm bread. This meal was clearly chosen in consideration of Logan.
