~ Anisel ~
When I woke up, I found that Joshua was gone. He can't be leaving like this without me. Out of nowhere, there was laughter outside the trailer. “Good morning, big bro,” Joshua said as I stepped out. Something didn't sit right with me when I looked at Hazel.“What in the hell are you two planning?”“Sir Anisel Dean, congratulations!! You have been selected as Princess Mia’s betrothed. Now, you are free to be around her as much as you like.” Hazel smiled. Was that true?? They are not pulling my leg, are they?? Out of all those rich nobles, I got picked?? Am I one step closer to ruling this shithole?? Joshua hugged his girlfriend from behind and then jumped on me. We fell to the ground as Hazel told me about how she convinced her parents to let us stay over. Since we live “so far” her parents felt bad and invited us. Good because we may get caught one day.If we are at her house and they are best friends— that means I will get to see Mia more often. Who would have thought the day can get better? The plan is coming into motion. Hazel’s family is very close to the royal family, I may get the advantage. We packed our things and followed Hazel. This would be our first time around people in years. This will be interesting.I hope we don’t stick out as much because we look like complete bums. We arrived at the front gate and I couldn’t believe my eyes. “HAZEL!! When were you going to tell us that you lived in the fucking palace!! What the hell!!” I shouted.“This is part of the palace where the royal guards stay. Since my parents are the leaders, we get to stay right next to the same building. I thought I told you.” she nervously laughed. I shook my head aggressively. Joshua didn’t even know about this because he looked more shocked than I am.When we stepped in it was like fairy dust lit our way. It was a magical experience. As the door opened, the chandeliers hang high above the ceiling. A red carpet painted the floors as it led to the staircase, and servants lined up to greet us. . What the fuck?? This is how I want to live from now on. Hazel showed us the rooms we will be staying in for the next couple of days.“There is one rule I follow in this house. Do not— I repeat, DO NOT! Go behind a certain point of this building. There’s a door that connects to the main palace. Without my parents accompanying us, we are not allowed beyond that point.”“What about me? I’m part of the Princess arranged marriage list. Can I go beyond that point?” I said jokingly but seriously at the same time. I got curious and asked her if the princess knows about the stay.“She was the one who suggested it to me. But it doesn’t get you the right to go near her at any time. She will send someone to get you, when she wants to spend time with you. Anyways, there’s a garden you can go to— but you can’t cross a specific line. The other side is where the princess roams.” She explained.Like a dog, I agreed to the rules and consequences. She left the room for us to unpack and get settled in. My mind still tried to comprehend what happened in the last hour. This isn’t real. I began to walk around the room then stared at the window. “You okay, Anisel?” Joshua asked me.I took a deep breath and let out a sigh. I need a tour around the house because this is insane. Maybe wishing on shooting stars is real. I went to the garden to breathe in some fresh air. May I say, it is beautiful. There are various flowers everywhere, my favorite is the white dahlias. A fountain separates the two sides. Why I feel I can not pull this off. My mother always told us to follow what we believe in and I believe to be king. I believe everything will change for the better. As I walked further in the garden, I saw someone sitting on a bench. The voice was medium-pitched. I liked it.~ Mia ~“Is this a good spot, my lady?” Hamon asked as he placed an umbrella down.“Good enough. I just needed space. I feel like a servant being asked to do stuff. It is getting annoying– no offense. Your job is awesome, but I wish I was queen.”“One day, your majesty,” Mikhal added. It's not going to be easy though. I have to pick one out of those five and they are all good people. However, I pick nobody as I don't need anyone. Suddenly, I heard rustling sounds behind me. I snatched Hamon’s sword from the holder and pointed at the brush. The person quickly came out with their hands in the air. Anisel?? What is he doing?? Is he trying to get killed?? With a smile, he dusted off the leaves and bowed. He is lucky because it would have been off with his head. I handed the sword back to Hamon and stared at his appearance. What type of noble wear clothes like that??He peeks down and began to fidget in panic. Anisel wears poor clothes as a way to stay hidden. It throws citizens off and they will leave him alone. He hates being surrounded during outings. Which is reasonable, I guess. But no noble should look like they belong in the dumps.Besides the clothes, why was he outside the line?? Hazel should have told him the rules, so why break them already?? Even Hazel isn't allowed over here. “I’m sorry, my lady. I didn’t mean to cross the line. It is such a beautiful garden— I couldn’t help myself. Plus, I heard voices and was curious. When I saw it was you, I was wondering why the long face?” he said.My servants peeked at each other and stepped in to protect me. Was there anything suspicious about Anisel?? Hamom explained there was no time to chat as I had somewhere to be. No I don’t, this was my break and a chat wouldn’t hurt anybody. I patted the seat next to me and scooted my servants away for a moment. The look on their faces was scary.I grinned ear to ear as he took the offer. We begin to talk our mouths away.I laughed as I stretched my sore back. We talked for an hour or so. All we did was talk about ourselves the whole time. During the conversation, my brother’s voice popped up from nowhere. “MIA!! Where are you!!! Lord Matthew is here to see you!!” his voice rang out.Anisel hurried back to the other side. He waved goodbye as he disappeared into the brushes. “There you are, Mia. Matthew is here. Hurry, don’t keep your future king waiting.” Jabrel nudged playfully. I hit him in the arm as he didn’t have to say it like that. I fixed myself before greeting my old friend. When walking into the parlor, Matthew stood up and bowed. “My dear lady, I was worried sick about you.”“Sorry for any inconvenience, my lord. I forget about the time.” I said with a gentle smile. With no worries, he took my hand and kissed it. What a true gentleman. We took a walk around the lake, where there was complete privacy. It was good to see Matthew; we hadn’t seen each other since the last grand ball. That was ye
~ Mia ~As the night rose, my time with Mark was– terrible. Why was he picked?? He was friendly at times but a complete dick at others. I was happy when we had to say goodbye. He tried to pull Matthew’s move as he leaned in for a kiss. Not a chance, I closed the door on him. When will this torture end?Hamom helped me to my feet, and we returned to my room. When walking down the hall, Jabrel’s door was cracked open. Being a curious sister, I peeked in to check on him. “Sir Mark was a total jackass. My mother was wrong about that one.” He said with a serious tone.“People can be deceiving, my lord. You can’t trust his words.” Lily said. Things went quiet for a minute until you heard moving. Jabrel talked about the law I have to follow. He agreed that it was idiotic and that he would marry Lily if he had to marry.Lily?? Out of people, Lily?? Why marry a servant? Lily leads my brother’s maids and his first servant. Why marry her?? I listened closely to see if I was not crazy. “Your high
Anisel dragged me to a place that felt familiar but unfamiliar at the same time. “Where are we?” I was puzzled. I really drew a blank when I glanced around. We stopped at a trailer that was rusted down. I side-eyed him as he smiled.“When I want peace away from responsibilities, I come here. I know it is far from my kingdom but it's far enough for me to relax. This is like my second home.”How did he find this place?? Why would a noble like him be in a place like this?? I would be scared. Anisel parted his lips but got interrupted by lights in the sky. He took my hand and yanked me inside. He locked the door, squatted down, and covered my mouth. The light shine through the bar windows and voices were heard. I couldn't recognize their voices, so I listened closely. Anisel released his grip and so did I.“He has to be right. I saw two people walking around here before. It has to be them.” The stranger said. I wanted to ask questions until I studied Anisel’s face as he focused on the con
~ Mia ~“WHAT?!?” Anisel yelled. My hands covering his mouth shut him up. We are too out in the open for this damn it.“What is wrong with you? Trying to get us in trouble or something?” I said.“Sorry, I didn’t mean to do that. It’s a pretty name. It should have been your name.” He mentioned. My face began to flush as we walked back. He was acting weird as well since I told him that. We made it back without difficulties. We stood by the fountain before going to our rooms. “Thanks for taking me out, Anisel, I appreciate it.” I looked away.“Sure. Hope we can do this again before the ball.” He stated as he scratched the back of his head, nervously. I giggled as the last day is tomorrow. If we do it then I picked the location. We both smiled until we saw lights in the sky.“Dang, it’s the royal guards. They are probably doing their nightly patrol. We need to hide.” I panicked. We both searched around but nothing was decent. Without realizing it, my foot lost balance— my first instinct w
Once I was done with Hazel, we returned to Felix, who awaited my return. “Sorry to keep you waiting, my lord. I had to make sure I was presentable for you.” I said as I bowed. He chuckled and stated he was a patient guy. Good because I like to take my time. We headed for the garden for some peace. This is the last stop for my date with Felix. As we strolled along, my servants were watching closely, especially Hamon. Why are they always getting suspicious of everyone? We always stopped by an old apple tree with a swing.“Are you strong, my lord? If so, can you give me a push?” I demanded. He didn’t hesitate for a second as he gently pushed me.“What are you planning to do when queen, your highness?” I couldn’t see his face, but the tone sounded severe.Just like I told Matthew, I plan to change for the better. “I want to expand the kingdom to different parts of Africa. But I have to start small, so I am already in the process of combining with Pervia. Yuli and I are making arrangements
Hazel was impressed by what I said. Mikhal came out of nowhere, scaring us. We nervously looked at each other, thinking he may have heard the conversation. Hamon came rushing in with the first aid kit, with my brother behind him.“What happened?? Hamon is freaking the heck out. He almost destroyed the kitchen for the med kit.” Jabrel said as he plopped down on the bed.Hamon took some ointment and rubbed it on my burn. That tea was hotter than hell and burned a hole through my favorite skirt. Once changed, I stood up and checked it in the mirror. I can tell people it is a battle scar. I headed to the throne room to pass the time as I waited for Anisel.I can’t believe I will be picking my mate tomorrow. If I stick to Yuli’s plan, I will rule by myself. Jabrel followed me to the room for company. “You look good up here, sis. I will be a very proud brother once they crown you. I am now pronouncing the next ruler of Satia, Queen Mia Robertson! That sounds nice, doesn’t it?” he said as he
Everyone had a fun dinner. Anisel made my parents smile for a long time. After the delicious meal, I wanted to walk before my date with Anisel was over. I have to take every advantage I can. The more alone time with him, the more I get to know him.My parents initially hesitated because it was getting dark, but they agreed as long as my servants were with me. I took Anisel's hand as we dashed out of the back door. When we got outside, his face was completely red. "Umm, princess... your hand. You can let go now." He said nervously.I quickly snatched my hand away when I realized it. I covered my face and walked ahead; Anisel joined my side with red on his cheeks. "Are you nervous?" I asked him as I swiped my face.“About what? The ball?? Not at all.”“What if you don't get picked??” I said. He stopped me in my tracks and glanced my way. The look gave me chills as he asked if I wanted him to get picked. Was he teasing me?? Out of nowhere, he steps closer to where our noses touch. He ask
~ Anisel ~She knew we were innocent from the start. Then why go through the trouble of killing us?? I lifted my arm to wrap it around her shoulders. To feel her energy and how genuine she was made me blush. Deep within my heart, I wanted to protect her at all costs. But I have a mission, and I need to stick to it.These feelings make me feel strange. My mind is telling me to stop what I am doing and confess. Mia is making me want to tell the truth. To tell her the real me– am I falling for her?? When I looked into her eyes, they sparkled like stars. We leaned in; however, she tilted her head as something caught her attention.“Excuse me?” she said with an irritated voice.I turned to where she looked, and my jaw dropped. What the hell are they doing here?? Why are they coming towards us?? “GUARDS!” I yelled out. They came rushing immediately in. Hamon and Hazel drew out their swords.“I mean no harm to the princess, I swear. I didn’t mean to ruin your moment as well. I want to ask if
~ 4 years later ~I was sitting in my office doing paperwork when someone knocked on the door. "Your majesty, you have company," Hamon said as he let the person in. It was Joshua, who looked like he had seen a monster."You okay? You need to sit down?"He stood there depressed. When he opened his mouth, nothing came out when he saw his brother enter. "Umm, did I interrupt something?" he asked. I shook my head and told him to continue his work. Joshua made no eye contact whatsoever and then crossed his arms. Is this a joke? I didn't have time for this until I saw blood on his uniform. I got up so quickly to the point I hurt my hand."Joshua Dean, did anything happen today? Your uniform is stained— with blood. You must tell me the truth as you are under oath."Anisel lifted his eyebrow in curiosity. Why was he bleeding and not saying a word? There was a miscommunication near the front gate of the kingdom. That was all he told us, no further details of what happened. We all know multiple
"Your majesty, your majesty... it's time to get up." Mikhal said as he poked me. I toss and turn in the covers then bury my head into my husband's back. I shoo him away as I wanted to get more sleep. "My lady, you can't be sleeping in, you know. Guess what today is?""Leave me alone day?" I told him. There was a slight chuckle from him, then the word coronation came up— I jumped up. Anisel was woken by my sudden action. He asked what was going on as he looked at me with such confusion. When I told him that I was going tobe a queen today, he just smiled.I'm going to be queen. After the wedding, we took some weeks off for our honeymoon. We went to America and had an awesome time. Then a couple more months passed as we got situated. Planning a coronation takes time and effort as we wanted certain people to come. Then certain actions must be taken in order to continue on.It took about 10 months after the wedding to make this day happen. I got up and began to wash up a little. We had br
~ Wedding Day ~"Hurry up! Get her ready!" Mikhal shouted at the workers who were running around.“You are sweaty. Relax, my lady.” Hamon said as he handed me a napkin. I can’t relax as today is my wedding day!! It is finally here!!! And I am so excited!! After months of preparation and crying, we have made it through it all. I can't wait to be with him and rule this kingdom together. Hamon patted my forehead.Yuli helped me with the gown, and Mikhal kept yelling at people to look alive. This day better be perfect, or I will snap. Once everything was done, I started in the mirror. “When I leave this palace, I will no longer be single. I would be a married woman.” I smiled.Everyone gathered around me and prayed. This atmosphere was different and lighter than before. The smile never left my face as we headed out. I can’t wait to see Anisel at the chapel. I fan myself as I didn’t want to ruin anything. “Someone help. I can’t control my emotions.” I whined."Get a hold of yourself, Mia.
~ Mia ~The politicians debated, and cheers roared throughout the kingdom as they declared the dethronement of my parents. The light shines through the dark clouds as people toss their arms. My mother fell to her knees, distraught. We won!! WE WON!!Tears began to flow down her face, and being the caring person, I went to her side. I bend down, “did you think you would have taken over? What were you trying to accomplish??” I said.“You will never know the true pain of this kingdom. I kept the peace! I did what I had to do for it to fall in line. You marrying a peasant was out of the ordinary! I wouldn't give up my kingdom to someone who didn't understand!! I did what was best for my family!!”“You were blind by corruption, and you didn't see the people you hurt. You killed the innocent to bring balance to this broken place. You even tried to kill us, Mother. YOU weren't fit to be queen since the day you were born!! This wasn't home; this was prison!!” I shouted.Jabrel and Anisel stoo
~ Anisel ~We were in a stampede as we marched. Our speech had everyone as one and gave energy to those who needed it. The kingdom was in our sights; Mia and I paused our movements as we stared at the entrance. Guards were standing there with swords drawn.Jabrel and Mia walked forward. “Stand down; as your prince and princess, we order you to stand down!” Mia said in a threatening tone. The guards didn’t budge as they don’t take orders from them anymore. Mia and Jabrel were dethroned. The king ordered this action.THE KING?!?! I knew it. I knew he couldn’t be trusted. He was trying to get informa— “You heard them. Stand down.” Mia’s father said. Wait— wait— what the fuck?? If he didn’t order that, then who did?A voice came from above; it was Matthew. That son of a bitch is wearing the royal crown. "YOU SICK OF A BITCH!!" I shouted at him. The family turned to me in fear. I never raised my voice like that, but it was the reason."As the guards said, you don't bark orders anymore. I d
We annoyed the guards by repeatedly saying to let us go. I did promise them nothing is going to happen if we band together. My mother can't destroy us all. This time I will protect my citizens. The guards looked at me like I was insane for this plan, but they trusted me.They still couldn't let us go, and that is okay; because during transfer, we would riot. Everyone else agreed, and we discussed the plan. In the end, Anisel and I will be getting the throne back and defeating my mother. As the night rose on us, “You and this planning things come easy, huh?” Anisel said as he pulled me close.“Perks of being a student of a leader. I got it from my parents. But I use that power for good.”"I wish we could spread the message more than in this kingdom. We need to grow in size. Who knows what your mother can do." Anisel was right. We need more people than the kingdom's citizens. We need that one voice to carry the word around. I lay on my boyfriend’s lap to think more.My eyes glanced forw
She threw her kids in jail— HER KIDS!! What kind of parenting is that?? Just because she wants to marry someone right for her. Ugh! Whimpers and cries were heard throughout the large cell. They threw us back into Satia Prison. The queen knew about the escape plan because of that no-good piece of shit, Matthew. I peeked at Mia, who was clinging to me like a koala. Her head was down, staring at her legs. Jabrel stared at the window, and there was no sign of Joshua and Hazel. “Mia, are you okay?” I asked her. She looked up at me with puffy eyes.“Yeah, I’m fine as long as I’m with you.” She smiled. I missed that beautiful smile and that face of hers. I couldn’t believe she risked her status for me– for someone who did wrong in the past and tried to do wrong now. Once you are in love, then there’s no breaking that bond you built. I brought her closer, and I wrapped my arms around her. Jabrel came over to us, looking heartbroken. His eyes were puffy as well, and his face was red. I felt aw
“Anis–” I got interrupted by Matthew who took a hold of my arm. He yanked me towards him and everyone was on their feet in shock.“You are supposed to be in that cage along with your brother! Why are you in our presence at this moment?” he shouted. The steam from his ear began to form. Anisel had this smirk on his face like he won something. When he stepped forward, guards went to seize him. They burst through that door with all of their force. Joshua hid behind some people and Lily backed up. My family stood in front of me except for Jabrel.“YOU HAVE NO RIGHT BEING HERE AS YOU ARE A TRAITOR TO OUR KINGDOM! BE GONE! JUST DIE!” my mother shouted from the top of her lungs.I was held back by Matthew, who had the tightest grip on me. I said ouch but he ignored my pain. Anisel stood his ground as he fought back with my mother, father, and Matthew. I began to get loose from his grip to push through my family barricade. Their faces were priceless. My father held my wrist to stop me from ma
As we approached the chapel, a stage was set up for people to watch the brothers' death. My stomach dropped to my legs. I couldn't believe my mother would do this. We got escorted inside and to our spots. What are we going to do!! My hands got sweaty as the clock ticked by. Mikhal takes out a napkin to wipe them off."My lady, your makeup is going to be ruined. All you have to do is wait. Everything will fall in line." He stated.I don't know if his words will comfort me this time. That's when Hamon gently took me by my shoulders and made me look up in shock. He moved up and then down to indicate breathing. I have been paranoid since my mother put them on death row."No matter what, your majesty, we, your servants, will always be by your side. Marriage or no marriage, queen or no queen. Mikhal and I will serve you until beyond the stars." Hamon told me.Now those are the words I wanted to hear. These two have been by my side since I was born. The old geezers raised me and taught me mo
