Chloe was running late as she locked up her house and walked down her sidewalk to the drive where her car, an old Malibu was patiently waiting. Her phone began to ring, interrupting her. She paused to fish it out and saw a mysterious number on the screen. It was a number she didn't recognize, which wasn't saying too much as she really only knew two numbers by heart. She normally had no problem answering such calls since they were most likely a business call of some sort and fairly painless. Lately, however, she'd been getting strange calls from mysterious numbers, she would answer and hear nothing on the other end for about a couple of minutes before the call went dead. The strange phone calls had started coming about two weeks after she returned from her vacation. It had been nearly three months now, and she had gotten a dozen or so of these strange calls from mysterious numbers.
"Hello?"
"Are you still trying to sell your house?" Kyle asked her. "Well I have it listed, but my real estate agent tells me it takes time, so I have to be patient. But it's hard being here with everyone giving me those looks that turn my stomach and make me want to both confront them, telling them, I'm innocent and also hide in the corner like I've done something." She told him then heaved a sigh. "Sorry, I'm always unloading my frustrations on you." "I'll always listen." He told her then smiled slightly with that cute crooked smile of his she rarely saw but loved so much. "What are friends for?" "Mhm." She nibbled on the appetizer and wished she could pronounc
Chloe had thought about Kyle's offer later that night and even googled all the cities he'd mentioned. She'd been to New York before when she was little just before her mother died. Her mother had always wanted to go so her father conspired together with his mother and they were able to finally send her before it was too late. Chloe's grandmother had more money than she knew what to do with but she didn't believe in handing it over to her kids or grandkids for that matter. She wanted them to learn the value of a dollar through hard work. And they did for the most part. Chloe's father had done fairly well with his business although much of that success went to paying for hospital bills when her mother got ill and then again when he got sick. And Chloe’s aunt Delaney had more than enough money. She was a successful fashion stylist who had married a very successful movie producer.Chloe had been to
Chloe was dressed in one of the outfits her Aunt had bought for her when she went to visit. She had no idea how much this particular outfit had cost, her aunt had made her stop looking at the price tags. They had hit up all the stores on Rodeo Drive and would have done more damage, but Chloe hadn't had much time before her flight. She got a few outfits complete with shoes and some boots and winter coats her aunt insisted on. She was currently wearing a Max Mara dark gray asymmetrical gathered dress in wool and silk with a pair of black suede Valentino booties. At least that's where she thought they were from but couldn't entirely remember. She had on a wool coat and knew by the way everyone looked at her that the cost of the outfit was much more than any of them would ever dream to afford. It didn't help that one of the rumors circulating had been somewhere along the lines of her murdering her husband and
Chloe had spent the better of the week with Michael, her new assistant. Getting him a desk set up just outside her new spacious office and showing him the ropes of the place. She had him well versed in the general functioning of their site by the end of the week and planned on going into the client files next week in detail. He should be good enough to take over by the end of next week for sure, Chloe thought to herself as she waited for the realtor. Hopefully, we can find a way to get this house sold soon. There was a knock on the door a few minutes later."Sharon, come in," Chloe told the realtor as she held the door open."Thank you." Sharon came in and took a
Chloe headed to the lawyer's office but stopped at Dave's coffee shop on the way over. She had been putting off the reading of the will as long as possible, and she couldn't come up with any more excuses. She had promised her father-in-law that she would meet him there this afternoon and so that is what she had to do.She turned to head out of the shop after getting her coffee, the best in town, and almost smashed right into a tall solid wall of man. She looked up from his scuffed brown derby shoes and took in his expensive gray suit that probably cost at least that of one of her new outfits. His silk navy tie was tucked into his vest, and his strong jaw was accessorized with a five o'clock shadow. He towered over at just over six feet, and she could sense his thick dusty brown hair was just as wildly all over the place as always, but she forced herself to stop before she got too close to being sucke
Mr. Harris walked quietly with Chloe until they reached the entrance to the building. He turned to her and stood for a moment looking over her shoulder before finally talking. "He was my boy, and I loved him probably best of them all, but you have always been good to me, and I hope to keep you as a daughter after this if you let me." He was still looking over her shoulder. He cleared his throat and looked into her eyes before finishing. "I'm sorry for how he has treated you even in death." "Thank you." Chloe looked into her father-in-law's eyes and saw the conflict and sorrow that ate at him. "I'm not sure how I feel about all this, but I loved him since I was fourteen and even before. He has been an important part of my life, however, imperfect it turned out. I will honor the good times and move on from here with my life. Jerrod
"How do you not know where Screaming Brain Freeze is?" Chloe asked."Never had a need for a brain freeze." He said keeping his eyes on the road and adjusting the seat at the light."Even as a kid?""Didn't spend a lot of time here as a kid." He answered now adjusting the rear view mirror."Oh." She wasn't sure if it would be rude to ask why. Maybe his parents had a messy divorce. Maybe he was sent off to boarding school. Maybe he had witnessed a heinous crime and was put into witness protection and given a new identity and finally after years and years all those involved had died someway or another, and he was free to return to his life. No, there's no way that could be it.
Chloe shook her head and just let Liam drive. At the rate in which that slushie was coursing through his veins, she didn't think she could stop him anyway."What exactly do you plan on doing?" She asked as they pulled into her driveway."Well, investigate of course." He said getting out of the car and walking up the steps to her front door. "I am a detective after all. I must make sure the items in question are up to proper safety standards. Your safety is of the utmost importance.""How chivalrous of you." She mumbled as he fumbled with her keys. She took them from him and unlocked the door and before she could open it all the way he was already in the house and down the hall."I am here to serve and protect in any
"Maybe we can help distract each other," Jackson suggested. "Mmm." She moaned as he kissed her again, closed the door without leaving and carried her to bed. Chloe thought at long last something good would come of all this turmoil she had been through. She was tired of all the craziness and just wanted to have a night where she didn’t have to think about her dead husband, or neighbors, or the neighbors brother stalking her and running her down. “Aaahh..” Jax had somehow already stripped Chloe down to her bra and panties and had been squeezing her breasts like two stress balls before he pinched her nipples hard. “Can I?” Jax suddenly stopped and asked in a hoarse voice if he could take her bra off. Why now was he asking? He hadn’t asked about anything else.
Meredith had followed Brayden through the closet where the bedroom was. A large king sized bed sat in the middle of the room against the left wall facing a window to the right. There was a white sheer curtain that was on a round track that encircled the bed. The curtains were pulled back and framed the bed on either side. There was a small seating area past the bed but Meredith was more concerned with the bed in front of her. She sighed a sigh of relief and as she went around to the other side of the bed as she left Brayden’s side their hands drifted apart.Meredith sat on the bed then turned to Brayden and he nodded. She followed him back into the closet where he opened a bag and pulled out a smaller bag and handed to her and he guided her to the bathroom that was connected to the closet by a door in the middle of the closet on the same wall as the bedro

Coming soon to a goodnovel near you (0.0) ** Chloe sat in the terminal waiting for her plane to board thinking or trying not to think of the past few weeks, or the past few months. She was pushing everything to the back of her mind hoping it wouldn’t surface anytime soon. She wanted to move on and move forward if at all possible. She was focusing on imagining her future when she heard someone clear their throat. “Uh, excuse me do you mind?” She looked up and saw a tall, lanky man with short shaggy curly brown hair. He had brown beady, almost dead eyes and fuzz that resembled a sort of illusion of a beard gone wrong. He was wearing a red
Chloe woke up on New Years Day and got washed and dressed. She gathered up anything she forgot to pack before or had taken out of her luggage and then made breakfast for her and her house guest, soon to be house sitter, Kat.Kat came in and ate and then went off to get washed and dressed as well. It was five minutes to ten when Darren showed up with a briefcase. He explained all the paperwork as she signed for her transfer to the L.A. office."We are still on holiday break until next week, and then it will take about a week to get your new office set up," Darren told her. "I will call you beforehand to confirm the particulars but expect to begin a week from next Monday.""Thank you, Darren," Chloe said, leading him to the door just as Kyle knocked on it. She introduced them then poi
Chloe woke up on a stretcher in front of Veronica and Gerri's old house. She blinked a few times then wrinkled her nose at the lingering burn of the smelling salts. As much as she disliked them she was getting used to them. She looked up to see an EMT looking back at her, and he flashed a light across her eyes. "Are you okay?" He asked her. "Yes, yes I'm fine Josh. My name is Chloe Harris I'm thirty, and I want to go home." "Fine by me." He told her with a smile. "I want to make my wife’s new years eve party if I can."
Chloe woke up, she was in a family room of a split level house. She recognized it almost immediately as Veronica Moulton's. It was the house Veronica lived in with her mother, Gerri before they both got married and moved out. Gerri had gotten married and moved an hour out of town and left her house to Veronica. Later Veronica married Nicki and moved around the corner from Chloe. Chloe had never thought to ask what had happened to the house and Veronica never mentioned it, but here it was exactly as she remembered it. The furniture was the same though a bit dingier and the carpeting, wall fixtures, everything was as it had been when Veronica lived here. It didn't make sense to Chloe. Surely they would have taken their things with them and whoever the new owners were wouldn't want pictures of Veronica and her mother on the walls. Chloe blinked and noticed
Chloe woke up to a mouth on hers, and she blinked into the dark with a start gasping into the mouth. She felt a hot body pressed against hers and realized she had no clothes on. She was still wearing her necklace, but her t-shirt and panties had been removed. She was getting dizzy and almost out of breath when she was released from the kiss."You went to bed without me," Liam whispered in her ear. "And you were dressed.""I…" Liam was nibbling her earlobe, and she felt him hot between her legs. "I tried to wait up.""I want you," Liam said and was sucking on her breast teasing her nipple as he engulfed her. When he let go, he finished his sentence, "to feel what I feel.""Ah." She opened her legs to him as he
Chloe was so sore when she got up on Sunday she almost called Kat to cancel yoga, but Liam had distracted her before she knew it, Kat was ringing her doorbell and Chloe was scrambling to get ready."I gotta head to the station for a bit. Will you be okay by yourself when you get home, Luv?" Liam asked Chloe at the door as she locked up."Hmm? Yeah, I'll just paint the master." He pulled her close and kissed her before she got in Kat's car."Hey there," Kat said. Chloe buckled herself in as she thought, Safety First. "How long have you and detective hottie been a thing?""What?" Chloe said as Kat looked in the mir
Chloe got in her borrowed black Corolla wearing an off the shoulder sweater, jeans, her rabbit boots and her coat she had left out. Kyle put her luggage in the trunk, and she thanked him then headed to the airport to pick up Liam. She had told him what Brownstone said, and he agreed she shouldn't be alone. He was going to stay with her until they caught Marilyn. It was already dark when she got to the airport and pulled up to where Liam waited for her at his gate. "So this is why the patrol couldn't find you?" Liam said getting in the Corolla. "Patrol?" Chloe pulled away from the curb and headed to her house. "I told you I wasn't home. Brownstone wanted me to lay low." "Yeah, you said you were at a friend's, so I sent Patrol to Katherine Chevy's place, and they couldn'
