Chapter 42: for the better

.

Arabella is pushed up against the corner of the couch, watching as Gael and Hudson wrestle each other. Hudson had said Gael looked too old to play with him anymore since the young boy pointed out he had gray hair in his hair.

Gael, taking offense to this, grabbed the boy and tossed him over his shoulder.

Watching them toss and turn, Hudson landing a few well placed punches to the abdomen, Arabella starts to feel her heart lessen in its ache. She shouldn’t be worried.

Gael is kind and caring and he won’t hurt her. He is gentle even when he is fighting her son.

Chuckling, Arabella gets up when she sees Hudson stand on top of Gael’s back, having ‘defeated’ him. Gael is acting dead with his tongue sticking out. Arabella crawls her way over, bowing over and over again to Hudson.

“Oh, mighty King tiger, please spare him. He is my husband,” Arabella cries, smiling as Hudson puts his hands on his hips.

She put on basketball shorts, a pair of Gael’s. “Are you coming to bed, baby?” Gael can feel his whole face heat at the pet name. He never imagined himself to be one for them, but hearing her call him that, put a fire in his groin. He tries to swallow, but suddenly, his mouth is as dry as the desert. “I think I should sleep on the couch.” Arabella’s brows furrow. And then she’s biting her lip, walking over to him. She stands in between his open legs, hands coming out to hold Gael’s face. She pulls him close, tugging her nose right into his stomach. Gael’s hands move by themselves, coming up along the back of Arabella’s legs. They stop just above her knee, slipping under the shorts a little. “You smell amazing, love.” Arabella tugs her face up, locking eyes with him. Her gaze is hooded, heavy and capt

The little boy started to laugh, running over to tackle Faye from where she was laying on the ground. They both laughed and sat up, looking over at Arabella, who was standing off to the side with her phone up to record. She stopped, smiling brightly at the two. Faye had just finished her last few classes and applied to graduate. Arabella is immensely proud of her best friend and couldn’t believe the news when she called her to tell her. Hudson wanted to celebrate by getting ice cream with them. Arabella couldn’t say no to his doe eyes and little boxy grin. Faye was excited to hang out with the two of them as Gael was gone at work for the day. Arabella sent the video to Gael, knowing he would appreciate the distraction. Faye waved her hand. “Yo, Bella! Do a cartwheel! I know you can do one.” Hudson lit up in the elder’s arms, smi

He clicks off his phone, tossing it aside. “Nothing, just…” Arabella waits. She is patient as Gael collects his thoughts. The elder wipes at his face a little before he chuckles a little, no humor in his voice. “I miss them.” “Your parents?” Arabella had seen the photo before Gael turned off his phone. She didn’t mean to pry, but the man who was on the screen shared the same smile as Gael. When Gael nods, more tears seep from his eyes. “Oh, baby, Come here.” Arabella pulls the other into his chest, letting him cry if he needs to. Gael’s arms are tight around her. “I just wish I could call him.” Gael sobs, trying to keep his breath from hyperventilating. “Why can’t you?” Arabella asks. She isn’t someone who can really talk about not reaching out to family, since she still hasn’t contacted her own since they got into jail. She is sure

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 46: a menace he likes . Gael stares at his phone, waiting for the call from his brother. He isn’t sure if his brother will also have their father on the phone, but honestly, he kind of hopes he doesn’t. He isn’t ready to face them. They plan on doing a video call, Gael going to answer it on his computer. He’s sitting at his desk, in the living room. He can hear Arabella and Hudson in the kitchen, keeping quiet. They hadn’t told Hudson who his father would be talking to on the phone, but that it was important. A notification for a text message pops up. He clicks it to see a zoom call link. Opening it on his computer, Gael sucks in a breath as his video turns on to show his brother sitting at a home office. He looks the same but older. His hair is still black, cut short, the top falling forward on his forehead. He’s wearing his glasses, but they don’t hide the wrinkles around his eyes. His brother looks pained as he covers his mouth

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 47: a little family reunion . Arabella fidgets with the strings on her hoodie. She didn’t have time to change before she was called into the office. Gaby was having trouble with packaging hardcovers. It was a slow day at the office, she said, since a lot of people had jobs outside of the office today, so she wouldn’t have to worry about taking Hudson with her. She made sure she packed toys and the tablet that Hudson got as a present from Gael for the last holiday. She packed snacks and a water bottle for them both before loading Hudson into the car and headed toward Portland. Hudson napped through the car ride, the trees blowing past them as Arabella drove. They made it by midday and would be leaving as soon as Arabella was done. So in the elevator, she can’t help but fidget a little. Walking into the office with Hudson’s small hand in hers, Arabella let out the breath she was holding out. The room was empty except for Gaby who

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 48: just as mine as his . A silence falls over the family. Arabella looks from the screen to Gael. She can sense a tension in Gael’s frame, but she doesn’t comment on it as she watches the artiste avoid looking up at the screen. Instead, he has his nose tucked into the soft tufts of hair on Hudson’s head. Hudson fiddles with his daddy’s large hands before smiling. “I think I will do just what my daddy did. I will wait till I have a better belt to win against the big kids.” Gael grins as he hears his son. The father of the two brothers grins. “You seem like a very good kid, Hudson, boy. You’ll become a great person like your father” Before Arabella or Gael can correct him, Hudson sticks his nose up, frowning. “But I want to be like my mummy. Momma was there before daddy.” Another silence falls over them and this time, Arabella is also tense. Arabella heard that Gael informed them of how long they were dating for, but she is sure

He knows he should trust her, but he can sense the tension in Arabella’s shoulders. Nathan might be her team leader, but Gael isn’t sure how much he can trust him. A little hand tugs at his pants from where he is seated at his desk. Looking down, Gael meets Hudson’s eyes. “What’s up, little man?” “Daddy, who’s that?” Hudson asks. Gael glances over to see Nathan and Arabella talking. “He’s your momma’s boss at work.” Hudson’s mouth falls into an ‘o’ before nodding. He looks back up to Gael. “I’m hungry.” “Let’s finish dinner, alright?” Gael stands up, taking Hudson’s hand and leading him to the kitchen, past the table. As he moves Hudson’s stool for the little boy to help him, he hears Arabella call his name. “Can you make enough for Nathan, Gael?” Arabella asks. Gael nods. “Of course, love.” Arabella smiles, turning back to him. Huds

The water cascades down her body, rivers flowing over the dips and curves of her body. Feeling himself getting heated, Gael bites his lip, leaning back against the wall to watch her. Arabella looks up, probably having felt Gael’s presence. She chuckles, a little embarrassed. Her hands come over her stomach, like they do whenever Gael is admiring her body. “What?” Walking forward, Gael grabs the towel on the counter and wipes over Arabella’s body, taking his time. He drops kisses along her shoulders and arms and neck. His hands stay over the towel, but he can feel the plush skin under his fingers. He groans against Arabella’s scent, breathing in a lungful. She quivers, knees going weak. She leans heavily against him as he continues to rub over Arabella’s stomach and ribs, going down to her thighs and ass. She moans, biting it down as soon

Gael walks back up to their room with a tray holding two glasses of orange juice, coffee, and as many danishes as he felt comfortable stealing away from the hotel’s continental breakfast. He could have just stayed in bed and ordered up room service, it’s not like they can’t afford it, but Gael had woken up this morning and looked at Arabella’s face on the pillow next to him, peaceful and deeply asleep, and felt like he might burst. It filled him with too much energy to stay in bed, but he couldn't wake her either, not when she looked sweet as honeycomb dripping in sunlight. So Gael had left the quiet stillness of their honeymoon suite in search of sustenance for both of them. It occurred to him on the way back that he might be following some unconscious, primal instinct, fulfilling a caveman desire in the back of his brain to provide for his wife or something like that. It didn’t make much sense, because G

He was attentive to Arabella whenever she called out for him. He gave her a message and got her a glass of water whenever she needed it. His nerves were there, lingering underneath the surface as he watched Arabella scream through a few painful contractions. He couldn’t imagine the pain that the other woman was going through. Gael whispered to her words of encouragement, but he was sure that the other was far too focused on breathing to really hear him. Right as they were being taken to the delivery room, Arabella held Gael’s head between her hands. They stared at each other before Arabella kissed him. “You know I love you, right?” “I know.” She nodded before her face scrunched up into another pain expression. It happened a lot faster than they thought. Honestly, giving birth was harder t

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 58: a Christmas miracle, then? . The following weeks were rough, but all was fine. Hudson was taken in by Faye until his parents could take him home with his baby siblings. The boy did well in the final week of school. He smiled when he got to spend more time at the hospital with his momma. Faye took him, bringing along toys and other things for the boy to play with while she knit and chatted with Arabella. Gael would come and gather the boy before practice and they would all have dinner together before leaving. Afterward, Hudson goes back with Faye and Gael goes to the hospital to stay with his wife. Arabella has been gaining color back and, despite the huge round stomach, the woman moves as much as she can. She complains afterward about her back hurting or her ankles being swollen. She complained she was ugly and bloated, but Gael kissed her silent. Ian offered to pay for a private room when he heard that Arabella didn’t want G

It’s a nice crisp black like one of Gael's old favorite outfit. Gael chuckles as he sets up the zoom meeting. He isn’t sure if his father will be there, he still hasn’t come around to Arabella fully. He knows that his mother probably has informed him of everything already. He knows she wants them to fly out to that country for the wedding and to visit family since Arabella will be a part of their family soon, but he really doesn’t want that. Sighing, Gael makes sure Hudson’s laptop is facing the couch and plugged in to save battery as they call. It is later than either would like Hudson to be up, but it is the only time that they can call. It’s nearing 10 pm and Hudson really should be in bed, but tomorrow is Saturday and they aren’t going anywhere other than practice and Arabella’s appointm

We will now announce the finalists. In red, hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada, weighing at 124 pounds is Drake Fowller.” As the man walks out, a large roar from the crowd comes. Arabella remembers what Gaby told him about Fowller. He is slightly smaller than Gael, but only by an inch. He is 21 years old and won last year's competition. “In blue, from Eugene, Oregon, weighing in at 130 pounds exactly, is Gael Laurent.” Arabella claps and cheers along with their section. She wants to believe her ears when the cheers for Gael are more powerful than the other, but she isn’t sure. Maybe Gael is more popular than she thought. The man walks out, the blue gear on him. He looks bigger with those on him, though he is slender. He has the same face as earlier. This time, he looks up right awa

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 55: finals. As they went into the second round, Arabella saw a shift in Gael. As the second round started, Gael went on the offensive right away, attacking with a strong kick and backing Trevor into a corner. He was able to get a hit in and the crowd roared again, but something didn’t get called right and the round was paused as Gael’s coach called out the missed point. Gael backed away, chest heaving. Trevor looked ready to continue, not taking the moment to rest. Gael stood with his hands on his hips, trying to steady himself. Arabella knew the other was nervous. He’s been nervous this whole weekend. He confided in her, a few nights before they came, that he used to not get nervous. That the last time he remembers being this nervous was the night before his match that would decide if he got onto the Olympic team or not. Now, the artiste was nervous for every match, as if he knew that this could be his last at any moment. The po

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 54: do well, daddy . The third match goes well, Gael coming out on top as the man wins with a good lead. He advances to the semi finals that will be held the next day. As they are leaving to grab dinner, their friends heading with them, Arabella groans about how much her back hurts. Gael picks her up, carrying her bridal style as they head toward the cars. The competition is being held in Portland. They all drove in and are staying at a hotel. They planned on staying the whole weekend even if Gael didn’t make it to the second day. Having their friends here is an added perk. Grinning, Arabella holds tight to Gael as they walk out. “Laurent!” Someone yells off to the side of them. Gael turns, soft eyes glazing over with ice. He sets Arabella down, moving in front of her a little. Faye and Louis, who were holding Hudson’s hands, stopped ahead of them. Standing across from them is a man dressed in a matching track suit like Gael’s wa

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 53: more than one talent . Laying in bed, Gael runs his hands over Arabella’s sides and stomach. Both of them put Hudson to bed before heading in to wash up for bed. Taking a shower together while Gael is far too attractive to Arabella’s body wasn’t the smartest idea. The two could barely keep their hands to themselves as the water slid over their bodies. Arabella loves watching Gael’s muscles flex and twist and turn as he moves about. She loves running her hands over the firm skin that stretches over the his back and chest, the powerful muscles in the man’s thighs brushing up against her own. Now, with her stomach growing, Arabella likes it when he rubs his strong hands over the bottom and sides of her stomach. She also loves when the man’s fingers trail along her ribs and chest. Or when his mouth will travel over her skin. Like now. Arabella didn’t get dressed other than a shirt, not feeling the need for pants. She laid down as G

Stranger! Please be my Child’s Father .Chapter 52: cha cha and chi chi . The trio made it home safe, Arabella crashing onto the couch. She placed a hand on her tummy, groaning. Her pants have stopped fitting, shirts growing small. Gael and her went out earlier on in her first trimester and helped her pick out clothes that she will wear during her final months. Her favorite has been the dresses that fall right over her knees. She doesn’t wear them out, but at home, it’s all she wears. “No wonder I’m so tired and big. I have two babies in there,” Arabella groaned, kicking up her feet. Hudson giggles, sticking his ear to the round of Arabella’s stomach. “So there are two of them?” Arabella nods, running her hand through the boy’s hair. “I love you, baby Chacha. Wait,” Hudson sits up, staring at her. “What is the other baby’s name?” Arabella hummed, tapping her chin. In some culture, it is normal to name the fetus to call them that. Gael started calling the baby Chacha after Arab
