"Woof, woof!" Conrad barked twice, covering his face with a hand, feeling utterly embarrassed.

He didn't want it to come to this.

But the children's tears had filled him with guilt.

"Hahaha!" Irene burst into laughter without holding back.

Adrian chuckled more discreetly, but his gaze remained fierce.

Fia’s mouth twitched, and she looked away uncomfortably.

If she hadn't seen and heard it herself, she would never believe that Conrad could learn to bark like a dog one day.

"Feeling better now? Can we eat something?" Conrad asked, relieved to hear the children's laughter.

"Hmph!" Adrian still wore a grumpy expression. "I don't want snacks. I want a real meal."

"Okay, I'll cook. Give me a few minutes. I'll go borrow some groceries," Conrad said as he rushed to borrow food from Tyler’s house, clearing out half of his fridge.

Seeing the things in his hands, Fia noticed that some of them were still frozen.

Fia felt a little pity for the Lanes.
