It's time for Tyler to practice his acting skill again as they have arrived in the old mansion.

He tucked Jade's hand in his arm as they walked towards the mansion.

"Relax," Tyler whispered when he sensed that she was jittery.

Envious eyes greeted Jade as they walked past the young women who had eyed Tyler as their prospective husband were either gritting their teeth or fisting their hands into a ball.

Not even bothering to hide what they felt towards her and blatantly showed it.

Jade felt tensed at the glare she was receiving from them but she managed to wear an indifferent expression.

"Tyler," a sultry voice called Tyler's name. Jade turned her had to look at the source of the sultry voice.

A beautiful woman with a voluptuous body coming near them, wearing something that left nothing to the imagination, giving Tyler a suggestive smile.

The urge to snigger was too strong to resist, albeit Jade maintained her indifferent expression.

"Happy birthday," she said and hugged Tyler.

Her strong perfume made Jade's stomach churn, nausea was trying to overtake her.

"Excuse me," Jade unwound her hands from Tyler's arm and moved towards the balcony she spotted while her eyes roamed around the place a while back.

Fresh air caressed her face and filled her lungs once she reached the balcony. She took a deep breath and released the air slowly.

Jade moved further so as no one could see her as she wanted to have a respite. Since yesterday she was seeking solitude but she couldn't because of Tyler.

Jade thought at last she could enjoy the quietness however she was proved wrong when someone spoke behind her disrupting her solitude.

"Why is this beauty hiding here?" A man's deep and attractive voice rang in her ears.

Jade turned her head towards the man. She isn't narcissistic. No one was on the balcony except for him and she, so the remark was directed at her.

Jade narrowed her eyes once she saw the handsome man's frivolous expression.

"Hi, I'm Xerxes," the man stretched out his hand for a handshake but Jade had no intention of accepting his hand.

She looked at him with a nonchalant expression on her face.

When he arrived a while back, he spotted Jade when she was heading to the balcony.

After he scanned the place, his interest towards Jade stepped up as all the young socialites were dressed in revealing clothes except her.

While clad in a simple white dress, Jade was an irresistible pulchritude

Xerxes grinned as his impression towards her wasn't wrong. She was really different.

Exhilaration welled up as he was happy to have found a gem in the middle of trash.

All the women present in the party were all rubbish. Even how much they spent to make them classy they still looked trashy.

"May I know your name, beautiful?" Xerxes was excited to know her name.

Jade was about to open her mouth when Tyler came.

"Jade?" Tyler called her name.

Jade was somewhat relieved that Tyler showed up.

Tyler strode towards her and possessively wrapped her waist with his arm. The possesive way he held her made Jade look up at him with cheeks tainted red.

"Zimmerman," Xerxes chuckled but his eyes were not cooperating as they were chilly and glint dangerously, gone was his frivolous look.

"Schultz," Tyler acknowledged him, a hostility in his tone.

"Oh poor, Sophia, she's working hard in the States but her boyfriend is enjoying his life with his beautiful mistress," Xerxes' word was like a sword that pierced through Jade's heart.

Disappointed to learn that she wasn't any different to the women in the party, Xerxes couldn't control his tongue.

Tyler felt Jade flinched over Xerxes' statement. However, Tyler was tongue - tied at the mention of Sophia's name.

"Excuse me," Jade couldn't take the stifling air around them so she left in a hurry.

She saw a stair and went downstairs because she didn't want to go inside the mansion. She just wanted to be alone, away from their scrutiny.

Xerxes left the balcony when Jade left them as he didn't want to stay in the same space as his rival.

Fascinated by the lake that shimmers while being bathed with the moonlight, Jade followed the stoney path towards the lake.

She removed her shoes so she could walk easily down the slope.

Up from the balcony, Tyler never peeled his eyes off the woman walking towards the lake.

He followed her when he saw her remove her shoes, wondering what she planned to do.

Witnessing a wheelchair rushing down the slope and plunged into the lake. Her soul almost left as her heartbeat accelerated like she had joined a marathon.

"Help, help," the boy yelped, bringing back Jade from stupor.

Without thinking of the early autumn chill, Jade threw her shoes while she ran towards the lake and dove into the lake to rescue the drowning boy.

Seeing his wife dive into the lake in this chilly autumn season, Tyler rushes towards the lake while muttering under his breath. "This woman is crazy."

The result of having his eyes fixated on his wife, Tyler didn't see what Jade saw and had no idea that she was rescuing a drowning boy.

Jade took the boy to the edge of the lake, knelt to do CPR. She pushed and pushed his chest down but there was no response so she decided to administer mouth to mouth resuscitation.

However, before her lips touched the boy's mouth, she was pulled by someone.

Her big eyes grew bigger in anger upon seeing Tyler. "What are you doing? I'm rescuing the boy!"

Wordlessly, Tyler knelt and leaned forward to do a mouth to mouth resuscitation to the boy.

After a while the boy coughed violently as water gushed out of his mouth.

Hurriedly, not wasting another second he picked up the boy in his arms and strode towards the mansion, anxiously

Cold and wet, Jade was left alone at the lake, trembling as the chilly autumn wind blew.

Goosebumps covered her entire body, her teeth chattering and knees trembling as she came back to the mansion.

All eyes were on her when she came in. They were sneering seeing her like a fish freshly taken from the pond.

She doesn't know anyone in this place except for Tyler who seemed to have forgotten her.

She was at a loss when suddenly, someone draped a jacket on her shoulder.

Jade could feel the lingering heat on the jacket suit. She turned to look at the person who draped the jacket suit on her shoulder. Disappointment stung Jade's heart as she somehow thought that her husband came back for her. She bowed her head, as her eyes were expressing the disappointment and she was powerless to push it back. She didn't let her savior know what she was feeling right now. That would be ungrateful of her. "Drink this, so you could feel warm," Xerxes gave her the glass with brandy to Jade while she had her head lowered. Though she was shivering, Jade's heart felt warm at his gesture. Her prejudice against Xerxes was instantly changed. She misjudged this man. Jade looked up to the man and said with a warm smile. "Thank you, but I don't drink." Xerxes sighed. His jacket suit did only little to make her warm. She was soaking wet and it's mid - autumn. "But you will catch a cold. Drink a little just to warm your body." Jade shook her head and thought for a while. S

Since the party was organized to celebrate his birthday, Tyler had to go down to entertain his guests, so he left Jade alone in the room after he had dinner with her. Jade decided to sleep early as she has to have a morning shift in the hospital the following day. Though they are married, it was on paper only. As per agreement, they are not to sleep in the same bed. Hence, Jade took pillows and laid down on the couch. Jade is a good sleeper, she didn't have to struggle to sleep, soon enough after she laid her back on the couch she slept like a log. It was already midnight when Tyler returned to the room. As soon as he entered the room, his eyes searched for his wife but she wasn't on the bed. She was sleeping soundly on the couch like a baby. "You easily get scared but when you see someone in need you forget about your fear so just you could help," he mumbled at his sleeping wife as he sat on the coffee table. The lake was deep, rescuing a panicking person is dangerous as it wo

Jade felt her head spin and closed her eyes but opened it wide when she remembered her morning shift in the hospital. She bolted up from the bed only to land back on the bed when her head throbbed with pain and dizziness attacked. Laying flat on the bed, a low and attractive voice filled the expanse of the silent room. "Are you really a doctor? You don't even know how to take care of yourself when you're sick," was Tyler's sardonic remark. Opening her eyes, the man was towering over her while he stood beside the bed. He was already dressed in his military uniform which Jade deduced he was now reporting for duty. His hazel eyes were like the stars that hang in the sky shining in the dark were looking into Jade's blue eyes, like the vast ocean, shimmering under the sunlight. Their eyes locked for a fleeting moment before Jade looked in another direction avoiding his soul piercing gaze. Slowly, Jade sat up, but her next action was stopped when Tyler placed his hand on her shoulder,

It was noon time when Jade stepped out of the room being asked to dine with the hostess of the mansion. "Ms. Jade, your presence was requested at the dining room," Simeon said, carefully examining Jade from head to toe. In his early fifties, Simeon, who had been serving the Zimmerman's for thirty years, saw Tyler grow up and knew who the people around Tyler were. And he never saw Jade to be one of them. Being with Zimmerman for a long time, Simeon had knowledge of the stipulation made by Tyler's father regarding his inheritance. Simeon knew that Tyler's father didn't want him to marry Sophia. Hence, he was suspicious that Jade was just a wife on paper. Jade wasn't simple minded, she knew that Simeon was sizing her up. Nevertheless, she chose to ignore his scrutiny. "I'll be there in 10 minutes," Jade staggered and swayed when she got up from the bed and nearly collapsed back into the bed but she managed to steady herself. "Madam doesn't want to wait," Simeon spoke indifferently

With her face heating up, the fair and rosy cheeks of Jade were now crimson red. Due to her shock, rather than answering his question she asked him instead. "Why are you here?" "I came back to bring your phone," Tyler lifted her handbag with a frown. Radiant as the sun was Jade's face when a smile bloomed on her face, bedazzling someone who looked at her. Tyler stared at her while she took the handbag from him. "You haven't answered me, Jade," Tyler said, not releasing the handbag to her, looking at the woman who bloomed like a flower in front of him. "I want to go home, Tyler," Jade didn't realize that she mentioned his name smoothly as if they were a real couple. Jade calling his name in an intimate manner tugged at Tyler's heartstrings that compelled him to reach out, gently pat Jade's head and spoke tenderly at her. "Are you bored?" Tyler's action made Jade's heart flip. What's with the move? Is he taking advantage of me? Hearing someone coughing at their back, Jade was r

Back at the old mansion"Madam, Mr. Tyler told me to inform you that she had taken his wife to his mansion," Simeon politely relayed Tyler's message to Cecilia. "What do you perceive?" Cecilia asked Simeon, her eyes trained outside, looking at the trees that had orange leaves signifying the autumn season. Before he opened his mouth to speak, Simeon swallowed. "I think the marriage was nothing but a sham. However, upon observing Mr. Tyler's interaction with the girl his actions were genuine. He cared for her." All the while when Tyler was talking to Jade at the door, Simeon observed Tyler carefully. Tyler's usually calm and cold eyes that showed no emotion at all, had that glow in them, reflecting an emotion flooding his heart. Though Tyler was always gentle and caring towards Sophia his eyes lack luster when he was with her. But not for Jade, his eyes sparkled and carried warmth. It wasn't a pretense. It's just that what was in his heart overflowed and couldn't contain it. At th

Seeing how sorrowful Jade was, Tyler couldn't find it in himself to ignore her and just do nothing to ease it. He approached Jade and sat at the empty space of the couch. Afterwards, he pulled her to him, wrapping the frail woman in his warmth. Jade's body went stiff for a moment when she felt being embraced before she turned to look who came to hug her. Red rimmed eyes came in contact with Tyler's hazel eyes. The coldness of his eyes was replaced by something Jade couldn't name. But she tried to name the emotion in his eyes. Sympathy. That was the emotion held in those attractive hazel eyes. "Why are you crying?" The gentleness in his voice was Jade's undoing. After the death of her biological parents and adoptive parents she never heard anyone ask her in this manner. Unthinkingly, she wound her arms around his waist and cried on his chest. Only her sobs could be heard in the room for about 10 minutes, Tyler stroked her head while she cried like a baby. Letting her water work s

Jade ran downstairs as if she was being chased by an enemy. "Good evening, madam, do you need something?" Gregory, Tyler's butler asked when he saw Jade rushing towards the door. Jade stopped dead and breathed in some air. She didn't turn afraid that Tyler was at the stairs looking at her. "Is there a driver that could send me to my apartment?" Jade knew that a high end community like this would not allow cab to enter. "Yes, madam," Gregory replied and approached the intercom to call a driver. "Thanks," Jade said and walked out of the mansion in a haste. A chilly air encased Jade and she remembered that she had forgotten her purpose why she entered the walk-in closet. Her face, neck and ears turned red as Tyler's image on his boxers floated in her mind. She tried to erase the image of his well sculpted body from her mind but they kept coming back. "Madam," Jade was pulled back from her trance when the driver called her. She looked and saw the driver had already opened the rea

"We have to tell Jason about it. The boy should not be kept in the dark. No matter what, that is his mother," Jade said and sighed. Jade felt the need for Jason to see his mother for the last time so he could get closure. As usual the dinner table was lively as the family bantered while they're having dinner. The family practice the stiff table manners among the aristocrats when they're having dinner with outsiders. But when they were eating with their relatives they didn't follow the stiff table manners. Tyler and Jade didn't want their kids to feel like being shackled. "Jason, mom and dad are going to talk to you about your mother," Tyler said while the family was seated at the patio after the meal. While she was surrendering herself to oblivion last night, she heard him promise to find Jason. "Yes," Tyler answered but the glum in his face made Jade's breathing erratic, she staggered backward. "What happened to him? Where is our son?" Jade was starting to panic again. "Answer me!" Jade said when he didn't answer. "Calm down, baby," Tyler pulled her to him. He swallowed. He doesn't know how to tell her that Jason received a hard beating from Sophia and the boy was in a coma and hadn't woken up yet. "How could I calm down? You're not telling me where my son is?" Jade was a sobbing mess. "Shhhh, alright, calm down first and I'll tell you," Tyler stroked her hair. "Tyler, please hurry up and tell me. I want to see him," Jade pleaded. Tyler chuckled and continued cooking. The kids and Jade were already at the table when Tyler was done cooking. Timothy and Jason praised their dad for his cooking skill. Tyler was smiling from ear to ear due to the boys' approval. "I'll take the boys to school and be back after that," Tyler said while he nuzzled her neck. "Aren't you going to the company?" "It's Sophia… She's on the loose," Tyler didn't want her to get frightened but he won't let her keep in the dark. He wanted her to be vigilant. "How? The correctional facilities have tight security, how did she manage to escape?" Jade frantically asked. Her breathing became erratic thinking about her four children. Now that Sophia is at large, the children would be her easy target to inflict damage to her and Tyler.
