I stare at him for what felt like a lifetime, he stood with his hands in his pockets looking around the built-up town. This didn’t surprise me, he was always the same, a carefree guy who would rather people watch than stare at his phone. Apparently, you see more when you just look up from the device than any website or video the internet world has to offer! Yes, he’s one of those people. The last time I saw him was over a year ago, he and his girlfriend Sharon had left to go travelling the world. They arguably got that idea from me and Tanya, but that’s neither here nor there.Connor and I have always been close friends, he is also from Boscastle and after Tanya and I moved to London, he used the excuse that he didn’t want to leave two defenceless women all alone in London to make his exit. I didn’t buy his excuse for even a second, he wanted out of that small village more than anyone. The day he showed up at our door, he thanked me for giving him the opening to leave before he rented
The wind whipped through my hair as Asher continued to run in the direction of my new home, but my mind was still consumed with the memories of what happened at my old home. I had been successful in recent months at burying the memories, but now Connor had caused a few to wiggle their way into my mind, the flood gates to the rest had been opened. The more I would push down the memories, the stronger they would get, and it was all I could think about.~~“Are you sure it’s safe to drive in these conditions, you know you both are always welcome to stay the night or even until the storm passes?” Scott’s mother Ashely asks standing outside of her front door, the sky was dark due to the rumoured storm which was approaching the city later tonight.“Thank you for the offer mum but we’ll be alright, I have such a backed-up work schedule that I can’t afford to miss another day.” Scott says as he reaches the gate to his parents' house, I wanted to agree with him but the clouds which were loomin
Somewhere in my floods of tears, Asher had picked me up and carried me to the bedroom, so I wasn’t laying on the floor right in front of the door. I was unclear on why these feelings had resurfaced, this is the same way I acted when Scott first passed away, but now months later, I thought I was passed it. But for some reason when Connor brought him up, it knocked me right back to where I was. When I was at home, I knew my friends and family made it a point not to bring him up or what had happened. They knew if I dare even spoke about it, I would be on the floor in a complete mess. Looking back, they ensured and made it a point to remove anything which related to Scott away from my sight. I was never left alone; it was either my parents or my friendship group at my apartment just sitting with me or hugging me as I cried. I will be forever thankful to all of the sacrifices they made for me; I wouldn’t have been able to get through those initial months if it weren’t for them.Asher had s
It’s been a few days since Asher and I had that hard talk, surprisingly, that was the first and last time I had a break down session. I suspect, I have needed to get all of that out in the open and off my chest, maybe I can really start to heal from everything I have been through.Asher has also refused to leave my side over these last couple of days, I kept asking if there was any important work he could be missing out on as he’s staying with me. But he also kept repeating that I was more important than any of that work, but I didn’t mind having him around more, it was nice to feel like I had him all to myself for a while. We also hadn’t seen anyone, which means I haven’t had the chance to apologise to Becky. I shouldn’t have snapped at her the way which I did, she was only worried about me due to the conversation Conner, and I had. I should have told her in time I would tell her but that moment I wasn’t ready, instead, I took my anger out on her. When we woke up this morning, Asher
My legs begin to shake as we inch to the two men, the fear of saying the wrong thing and offending an enormously powerful man worried me. Can you tell I have never been close to being in the same facility as a royal before? Maybe I shouldn’t have asked Thomas who this was, yes, I would have known this man was of some significance, but not the King! Before too long, Thomas and I came to a stop right beside the men who watched our every move as we walk closer. My eyes go to Asher’s sending him a semi worried look, I can’t believe he forgot to mention a man such as the would be paying him a little visit. If I knew, Thomas and I would have stayed clear of this place until I knew for certain the cost was clear.“I see you and Thomas have become acquainted.” He smiles looking between us two and down to our linked arms, I smile turning to Thomas in hopes he was going to be the one to speak, but him gulping tells me he’d checked out of this entire conversation.“Yeah, it’s been great, Thomas
Asher stuck to his word and took me for lunch whilst Cameron sorted out the insignificant details of the meeting, I did feel bad that it was my idea yet, I’m sitting down eating whilst he does all of the work. But Asher was quick to tell me it’s Cameron’s job and he’s more than happy to help.It was nice to just sit and eat with Asher, we had made a sort of habit of doing this when he wouldn’t leave my side for days. We hardly spoke, but you could feel it wasn’t awkward or sad, it was nice that we could sit in silence and not feel the need to start a conversation.I had just finished eating when a man walks into the room, he bows his head in respect towards us where I thought he was going to walk over to Asher like normal. But instead, he comes to a stop beside me holding a white envelope in his hands.“Sorry to disturb you but a letter came into the pack house addressed to you Luna.” He smiles handing me the white envelope, initially, I was a little confused on why I would be sent a
We continue on our journey to the pack meeting; I thought going into this that I would be nervous standing in front of the entire pack. I know I won’t be speaking much as Asher is taking the lead, but even the thought of having all of those eyes on me, usually I would freak. But maybe because of the news about me being The Unknown Luna confirmed, I had more on my mind to worry about than standing in front of a few people.Within a few moments, I spot Cameron and Becky standing in front of two double doors talking. This being the first time I had seen Becky since I yelled at her, which I do feel bad about now I’ve had time to sit and really think about how all of that unfolded. I worried she would be annoyed with me, which I would understand fully. But when the two notice we were there, Becky turns and sends me a smile with a little wave. Her action does take me by surprise for a second, has she somehow forgotten about what I had said to her the other day? Once we come to a stop right
I’m woken from my sleep before the sun had even begun to rise, Asher who wasn’t in a suit for the first time ever, stood beside the bed with his arms crossed over his chest. He told me my training starts today, if we wanted to get a head start before any of the pack members wake up, we’d have to start now.I battled with him for a couple of minutes, yes, I knew I needed to get as much training under my belt as I could before I have to start fighting. But I had such a long day yesterday and didn’t get to sleep until late, I was exhausted. But once the blankets were ripped off of me and I’m picked up and taken into the bathroom, I realise he wasn’t playing around. There wasn’t much point me showering before having to train, I was only going to get sweaty and have to shower for a second time in one day, now that’s just a waste of water! So, I dug through my wardrobe and find the workout clothes that Becky and I had gotten when we went shopping the first time, neither of us thinking I wou
A week soon flies by after the war, my days being anything but relaxing. The first day was spent with me being checked over by a doctor. No matter how many times I would tell Asher that I was fine, he insisted that a doctor check me over just in case I had been nipped by a vampire and just didn’t know it! Yes, I know how that sounds but he wouldn’t have any of it.Once the doctor found that I was okay, like I had repeatedly told Asher, I spent the next day speaking with the pack members. They were all overjoyed and offered me kind words and hugs for saving them, I smiled thanking them but also reminding everyone I had not been fighting alone. They had all of the fighters and Thomas to thank also, which everyone was more than happy to do.Speaking of the fighters, none of our men were killed and only one had been injured but not severely. I visited him in the hospital where he was still up and about, due to make a full recovery. The celebrations had not only been within our pack, many
Within a matter of ten minutes, all of the woman and children were safely hiding in the basement, while I stood with Thomas and all of the fighters waiting for my call. Going into this, I thought I would be absolutely, terrified standing here about to set off but to not even have Asher beside me. But perhaps it was because I knew what I was doing or, they had taken Asher from me, but I was more than ready to make each and every one of those disgusting monsters pay for everything they had done to so many people.Thomas walks over to me with that same worried look on his lips, he wasn’t in armour as he was one of the fighters which will be in wolf form to take on more of these beasts.“You look ready.” He smiles coming to a stop right in front of me, I only nod my head staring back into the forest a sea of trees filling my view, somewhere in there was Asher being forced to watch all of this unfold.I couldn’t mind-link him to even ask if he was okay, it was as though there was something
Five weeks later. It has been weeks since Asher and I arrived back after visiting my parents, each day has been busier than the last. Every morning, I have woken up at 4am to begin my training with Cameron, those training sessions lasting until 7am. When I went into this whole training with Cameron, I was under the impression that he’d be his jokey self and we’d have a great time. Yes, he does have his moments in between exercise where he makes a joke, but most of the time, he’s serious.~~Cameron stood in front of me with his claws extended, we had just done an exercise with swords as the vampires are known to use them, but he wanted me to be prepared for everything, so now he was using hand to hand combat.I was able to block his first hits, we had also worked so hard on my speed, so I’d be able to dodge any of the enemies blows to my body. I was able to grab his arm as spin him around, but when he turns to face me, his claw cuts into my arm where a long cut sat.“Ouch.” I say taki
We were soon woken up by my mother telling us dinner was ready, but both me and Asher had a solid few hours of sleep which will get us through the long drive home. I know I never told my dad that I wanted my mothers famous Cumberland Pie, but boy have I missed this! My mother has been making this ever since I was little, it’s my favourite dish of hers. Even Asher seemed to really enjoy it, but deep in his mind, I knew he couldn’t stop thinking about Justin and the safety of the pack. He would engage in conversation whenever he was spoken to, that same smile on his lips answering whatever question my mother would ask. To his delight, the time had come for us to head home and deal with Justin. We were stood outside of our house with my parents, my mum getting teary eyed as she watched Asher sort the car to leave. I knew I should stay longer as I had been away for months, but I couldn’t just abandon the pack at a time like this.“Are we not going to see you again for another six months?
The awkward tension which lingered in the air was thick, neither men uttered a word and I didn’t know what I could say to make this situation better. Asher and my dad were refusing to break eye contact, to show the other that they weren’t scared and definitely, wouldn’t be the first to back down.“I’m curious if you’ve only shacked up with my daughter because you really want to be with her or, it’s just yours and fathers way of getting back at me.” My dad says crossing his arms over his chest, but I only roll my eyes at his stupid comment while Asher, let’s out a low growl in his direction.“I’d watch your mouth Fawcett, you may be my mates father, but I will still rip you to shreds given the opportunity.” Asher growls out looking my dad in the eyes, I step forward taking his arm in hopes he wouldn’t begin to swing for my father.“Well, I guess I’m not understanding, I leave your town because of disagreements and now you’re suddenly, mated to my daughter. Tell me how that makes sense.
I was soon sent upstairs to pack a bag for the trip, I knew we were only going for one night, so I didn’t have to pack much. I wasn’t giving myself much time to think about what was happening, I was actually going back home to see my parents after all of this time. Yes, we have to sit down and ask my dad questions I never thought he knew anything about, but just to see them will be so lovely. But there was also a little issue I had found, what if my mother asks where I have been and won’t let me leave? What if Tanya, has returned home and I run into her? Am I going to have to lie to them? What if they ask to return with us, it’s much too dangerous?!I zip up the bag after packing my own things and Asher’s, I made sure to ask him what he wanted me to pack beforehand. He was downstairs talking with Thomas and Cameron, making sure they were fully equipped to run the pack whilst he isn’t here. But also, telling them the conversation we had goes no further and that includes Becky.I mean t
I stare down at the photo still at a loss, my dad and Asher’s were best friends? Why did I never know this before? I knew my dad was in the army for a while but after I was born, he stepped back and started working as a mechanic so he would be closer to home to help my mum raise me. But I had no idea he came all the way out here! That must mean my dad also knows about werewolves, so when my mother used to tell me the story about The Unknown Luna A, did he know what she meant? Did he ever tell her?!“Are you sure it’s your father?” Thomas asks picking up the photo while I get to my feet to pace, but when I turn to look at him raising my eyebrow, he understands. “I guess now that I’m really looking at his face, you do have some similarities.” He shrugs placing the photo on the table once again, but I still couldn’t understand what any of this meant.“Why does my father have anything to do with this situation, Spencer said this will all point to us finding out who this spy was, but it’s
Thomas and I soon arrive back home, I didn’t fully understand how I was going to be able to explain this all to Asher. I was fully lost myself on what all of this meant, I went to see Patricia in hopes she would offer me more insight, but she only answered questions I didn’t even know I needed answers to.Thomas suggested we head in Asher’s home office, that and his pack house office were two of the most secure places. We don’t need the spy for the vampires coming around and seeing everything we had, they’ll find us when we want them to find us.Asher had a mini table beside his desk, I suppose it was if he had to have meetings with more than one person, they could all sit around the table together. I sit at the table pulling the file out into the open, thankfully, none of the papers have fallen out on our journey here. Thomas pulls out the chair beside me with a smile, but when I place the necklace down on the table, he shuffles away a little.“You really don’t like that thing do you
The safe was full with a huge folder, what seemed to be jewellery and a type of liquid in a bottle looking back at me. I turn back towards Thomas in hopes he knew what any of these things were, but when he gives me the same look I had on my face, I see we were both at a loss.I reach forward and pick up the first item, it was a long silver necklace which wrapped around my hand once I had picked it up. Thomas backs up even more once he saw, I guess he was very much scared of that silver touching him. But now it was out of the safe, I could look and take in all of the many details. The pendant was of a man with a beard his eyes closed but a crown on his head, whatever this necklaces purpose was, it seems expensive. But also, I felt as though I knew this from somewhere yet, I still have no idea where from.I unwrap the necklace from my hand and gently placed down on the hardwood flooring, the light from the window causing it to sparkle and glisten. I now reach for the white liquid in a c
