Ahena’s POV
I found myself on the couch, covered in an uncomfortable shame.
Did he just turn me down? Was he under the impression that I threw myself at him? His words echoed in my mind.
"Get up from my bed and sit on the couch for a while before returning to your room." A peculiar blend of confusion and humiliation settled over the room.
He justified his actions by explaining that he didn't want his pack members to be concerned about our relationship.
However, he confessed the truth. He wasn't ready to bridge the physical gap between us.
The atmosphere was thick with awkwardness, each passing moment stretching like an eternity. I yearned for time to elapse, granting me the freedom to escape this discomfort.
Yet, there he lay undisturbed, absorbed in a book. After what felt like an unending wait, he casually spoke.
"You can leave." I stood up, making my way to the door, his hushed command following me.
"Not a word of this to anyone!" As if I would willingly share the embarrassment that now clung to me like a second skin.
Back in my room, I released a breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding. Is this to be our new normal?
A wave of relief washed over me at the thought, oddly it's preferable to enduring awkward lovemaking.
I drifted into sleep, only to be jolted awake by midnight due to a nightmare. I was concerned for my parents, the worry casting a shadow over the way I had left home.
At the bed's edge, I clutched my pillow, in an attempt to reassure myself that everything would be okay, and eventually succumbed to sleep once more. Yifa came to my room in the morning.
"Good morning, should I get you any painkillers?" she inquired while preparing my bath.
"Pain...killers?" I pondered, the realization dawning on me.
"Oh! Thanks. I'll let you know if I need them," I responded with an awkward chuckle. After the bath, I wore a shirt and trousers.
"I recommend having breakfast downstairs since the Alpha will be doing so," Yifa suggested
"Is it obligatory?" I hesitated, reluctant to face him after the events of the previous night.
"No, but…"
"Then I'll have my breakfast here," I interrupted. She returned after a while, tray in hand, bearing my breakfast.
"I'm allowed to leave this house, right?" I questioned Yifa once she had cleared my table.
"Of course, ma'am."
With a swift departure, I headed to Tala's place, and met her engaged in training behind her house.
"You should be spending more time with the Alpha, you know," she teased the moment she caught sight of me.
"Heh! Very funny," I responded with a stoic expression.
"Let me guess, he doesn't want you in his space."
"Since you're his friend, I'm guessing it won't be hard for you to figure that out," I replied, settling onto a tree log.
"He'll come around," she assured me, the air filled with a shared understanding as she continued her training.
Days turned to weeks, yet my relationship with Ralph showed no signs of improvement. On odd days, I'd go into his room, stay for a while, and then retreat to my room.
Strangely, I found solace in this routine, even though he continued to avoid me like a plague. He had never truly had a good look at me.
As the full moon approached, bringing with it a celebration and banquet, an elusive anxiety settled within me.
"I'm so glad I'm dressing up with you," I confided in Tala, who arrived early to assist me. She expertly worked on my hair in front of the dressing mirror.
"Sometimes I get tired of Yifa trying to dress me up like I'm a baby," I added.
"Who is that?" Tala inquired.
"My servant."
"Oh, you can ask her to stop if you feel uncomfortable," she suggested.
"She's persistent in following Alpha's rules, but I do affirm my need for privacy at times."
"Humph!" Tala exclaimed.
"Is something wrong?"
"You know a lot of women want to be with Alpha, including Ulf, his late wife's sister. She believes she stands a chance," Tala explained.
"Okay?"
"So you have to be careful, she can go to the extent of planting spies around you," she cautioned, wrapping me in a protective hug. I smiled, grateful for someone who genuinely cared for me.
Adorned in a majestic blue ball gown attire, my silver hair added a captivating complexity to the colour. Tala's skilled hands had transformed me into a vision of beauty just in time for the banquet.
The grand banquet hall, reserved for such occasions, hosted a multitude of pack members, especially those of age.
Ralph, at the head of the first table, had extended his invitation generously. As fate would have it, I found myself seated by his right, the closest space we had shared thus far.
Tala's reassuring presence beside me brought a sense of calm as I focused my gaze solely on my food, attempting to avoid unnecessary interactions.
The banquet unfolded, a lively affair, and as it concluded, I retreated to my room. Tala remained outside, engaging with others and assisting in the arrangements for the subsequent festivities.
In the late afternoon, the games proved entertaining, though I made a conscious effort to steer clear of active participation.
After games, we had a quick shower before dinner, setting the stage for the upcoming wolfing out ceremony in the large arena. Much like the games, I hoped to avoid this spectacle.
Ralph's wolf, a strikingly large and magnificent black creature, stood proudly. Tala's red wolf, equally captivating, joined the assembly.
I observed as they all seamlessly shifted into their wolf forms, embarking on a collective run.
Ralph and Tala returned. They grabbed the clothes the servants made available and wore them. Ralph approached me.
"I noticed you did not shift to your wolf form. Why?" His voice sliced through the air, carrying an unsettling weight of authority.
An uneasy chuckle escaped me as I sensed the impending revelation that I lacked a wolf form.
Desperate to evade the conversation, I began to walk away, only to be abruptly halted by his command.
"You don't leave while I'm talking!" His shout pierced the atmosphere, freezing me in place.
Reluctantly, I turned to face him, attempting to mask the nervousness etched across my face.
"I want to see your wolf," he demanded. My heart raced, and a cloud of confusion muddled my thoughts.
"I... I," I stammered, searching for words as his impatience cut through my attempt at explanation.
"You what?" he snapped, impatience dripping from every syllable.
"I don't have a wolf," I confessed, the words barely audible, my gaze fixed on the ground. He let out a laugh.
"That was a funny joke," he commented, but as our eyes briefly met, realization dawned, revealing I wasn’t joking.
"You what?!" His exclamation echoed through the space.
Tala, who stood shocked, having been kept in the dark about my woofless existence did not say a word.
"Is this who you forced me to choose as a breeder? A woofless woman?!" he directed his question to Tala, leaving an echoing silence in its wake.
I witnessed a side of him I had never seen before, a furious hurricane of anger, but it was justified considering the matter at hand.
"Give me one reason I shouldn't order your execution right now after deceiving us?" he demanded.
A noticeable fear gripped me, realizing that his anger wasn't a mere threat but a looming storm ready to unleash its full force.
Athena's POVI went behind the mansion, shaken and engulfed in sobs. The threat he had issued, promising my death once I gave birth to a wolfless offspring emerged, but it was nothing in comparison to the heartbreak of realizing I possessed no wolf within.Life as it appeared, was full of tribulation, and the goddess seemed to have a particular hate for me. Tala found me, crouching in distress behind a tree.“Come,” she gently urged, extending a helping hand to guide me inside the house and into my room. I sank onto the couch, emotions rushing through me.She sat quietly beside me, allowing me to cry my sorrows without uttering a single word.“I wanted to confide in you, but couldn't find the co
Ralph’s POVI awoke to find Athena, my breeder, beside me in bed. Startled, I rose to my feet. Taking in the sight of her enticing, naked form against the sheets that bore a few bloodstains.A moment of frozen reflection gripped me as I replayed the events of the previous night. A night where I took alcohol more than intended with friends, leading to an unexpected lovemaking with Athena.Uncertainty clouded my thoughts. While I held the right as her Alpha and the contract, the intimacy wasn't something I had foreseen or desired so soon. Her alluring scent, strengthened by the mating period, had been a constant temptation since her arrival, pulling me in despite my efforts to resist.Attempting to distance myself had proved futile, resulting in a night of unforeseen passion. What added to the complexity was the knowledge that I was her first, a reality I hadn't sought. In search of clarity, I retreated to the bathroom, holdi
Athena’s POVI woke up with a pounding migraine, forcing myself to remain still in an attempt to calm its intensity. The remnants of a haunting dream lingered, where Damian caught me and my parents. With the threat of impending execution, sharp objects from the crowd thrown at us felt painfully real.Confusion continued as I wrestled with the blurry boundary between dream and reality.Yifa's knock disrupted the lingering nightmare, and as she entered, I shifted my attention toward her."Is everything alright?" I inquired, my voice covered with drowsiness. Her expression reflected puzzlement."Yes, why?""You entered before I could open the door," I noted. Confusion carved her face, prompting me to glance at the door, which swung freely on its hinge."What happened?" I questioned, sitting up."Can't you remember?""Remember what?" I responded, my confusion deepening."You screamed last nigh
Athena’s POVI didn't like the atmosphere in my room, prompting me to escape outside the main building. The garden outside caught my attention.“Alpha doesn't permit anyone there except himself,” Yifa caught up to me, her voice carrying a note of urgency.“Why?” I inquired with curiosity.“I... I'm not certain,” she stammered, leaving a lingering uncertainty in the air. I nodded, changing my course toward patio chairs in the outdoor lounge. Yifa hesitated before asking.“Can I join you?” I gestured for her to sit, and as we settled into the chairs, silence surrounded us. Eventually, she broke the silence.“Marriage problems?” she asked. I chuckled, attempting to lighten the mood.“I'm not even married. I don't know where to place myself.“As long as you two are intimate, feelings must develop,” she remarked, delving into the co
Athena’s POVThe following morning, Yifa knocked on my door persistently until I reluctantly opened it."Good morning, ma'am," she bowed."Morning.""Oh my! You look rather worn out," she remarked after observing me, probably due to my lack of sleep the previous night."Just run my bath," I instructed, slumping onto the bed."Do you need any medication or something?" she asked, concerned."I just need some self-love.""You should take it easy on yourself," she advised."Run my bath."After having breakfast in my room, I decided to visit my only friend, Tala."I'm beginning to grow tired of seeing your face," she teased."Heh! Funny," I exclaimed, taking a seat."Your expression tells me my advice backfired.""I don't even want to talk about it.""I won't say you'll be fine because I've said that too many times. Let's go into the pack and have some fun," Tala suggested.
Athena’s POV"So you're leaving me alone in this pack," I lamented to Tala."Don't be overly dramatic, you have your servant, Yifa," she replied, carefully cleaning her sword."Must you leave?" I inquired once more."Yes, this is a responsibility the Alpha has entrusted to me. I can't afford to let him down," she explained."Meh!" I sighed, and Tala chuckled.Returning home, I found relief in spending more time outdoors, a departure from my usual isolation in my room.During lunch, Ralph occupied the dining area, and despite my reservations, I greeted him respectfully."Alpha," I bowed before taking my seat.Throughout dinner, a noticeable silence remained between us. Once done, I grabbed my book and retreated outside. In the evening, Beta Baldulf paid a visit."I'm starting to see more of you around here," I remarked after he settled."Well, you're always here," he grinned, inviting a rec
Ralph’s POV"I feel bored, let's go shop for a car," Athena suggested to her servant. She's conspicuously avoiding me, emitting joy lately, dressing in exquisite attire, immersed in books, all funded by my money.Money aside, her new character annoys me. I'm uninterested in her, however, I want her presence.Perhaps an error on my part for how I've treated her, she aimed to be lovely but I pushed her away. Apologies are warranted, but my ego resists. I couldn't bring myself to think of that.I hate that I'm getting bothered by her. I can't seem to focus on my work or anything around me.“Drop the ego,” Conri, my wolf, interrupted.“What?”“You're restless.”“I'm an Alpha…”“Enough,” he subdued me, retreating into the back of my head.I made an effort to work, but my attention was divided. Come evening, movement outside caug
Athena’s POVHe looked incredibly attractive in his pyjamas, tempting me to act on my desires, but now wasn't the time. I expected an apology.“You've been spending a lot of money lately,” he observed. My gaze locked onto him.“And that's a problem?” I inquired, keeping my eyes fixed on him.“No, that actually turns me on,” he replied, a sentence that stirred unexpected emotions.I tried to conceal my feelings, determined to stand my ground unless he set aside his ego and apologized.“Are you just going to sit there?” he asked. I met his gaze again.“Isn't this what you wanted?” I countered, using his own words against him.“Sitting here and returning to my room after some time,” I added, surprising even myself with the newfound confidence.“Hmm,” he mumbled, walking to his shelf.“You can leave,” he instructed, f
Athena's POVFive years later… As the evening sun cast its golden glow upon us, I found myself drawn once again to Tala's grave, my hand instinctively resting on my swollen belly as I settled onto the grass beside her final resting place."Hey, dear... I'm sorry I haven't visited for a while. A lot has been happening," I began, my voice soft as I spoke to the silent earth beneath me. "You know, as the head of the council of Alphas, it's been hectic, but I enjoy it," I chuckled softly, the weight of my responsibilities tempered by the knowledge that I was carrying new life within me.Bringing out the water bottle I had brought with me, I took a sip before carefully arranging the forest flowers I had gathered on Tala's grave, a small gesture of remembrance and love."You know, I miss you Tala," I continued. “Let me tell you what had been happening, Ulf is still carrying her duty very well. Whiterun is now a full pack... Can you believe that?" I asked with a hint of disbelief in my voi
Athena's POV"No! No! No!" I screamed the anguish that had been building within me finally bursting forth. The memories of our time together flashed before my eyes, each moment etched into my soul with painful clarity. The laughter, the tears, the shared joys and sorrows... they all came rushing back with a force that threatened to consume me whole. But even as I crumbled to the ground, consumed by grief and despair, a flicker of determination ignited within me. Tala may be gone, but her legacy would live on through me, a beacon of strength and resilience in the face of adversity.Tears blurred my vision as I pleaded with the guardian for some semblance of solace, any glimmer of hope in the face of overwhelming despair."I can't do anything but allow you to see her, but nothing can be done," she offered her words a bittersweet reminder of the limits of her power. With a desperate nod, I accepted her offer, willing to grasp at any fleeting chance to be with Tala once more.In an insta
Athena's POVAs Ostana's urgent plea pierced the air, we wasted no time, gathering provisions and milk for Queen before setting out. With each step, our pace quickened, the rhythmic thud of our boots echoing against the forest floor as we plunged deeper into the darkness. As night fell, we used torches. It was nearly midnight when Ralph, exhaustion etched into his features, finally suggested a moment's bedtime. We collapsed onto the cold earth, our breaths mingling with the night air. With the first faint blush of dawn, we rose in relentless pursuit, we secured rides on passing carriages, trading fleeting moments of rest for precious time gained.Days blurred into one another. In our haste, I couldn't spare a moment to check on little Sarah and her family.Weeks slipped, each day bringing us closer we reached the soot we left the car, luckily we found it there. But as we neared the western border, a chilling realization dawned upon us. “Where are the soldiers? Shouldn't there be a vi
Athena's POVThe night had granted us much-needed relaxation. The next morning Otsana's thoughtful gesture greeted us with an array of provisions, promising sustenance for the journey ahead."Your assistance is greatly appreciated," Ralph expressed his gratitude."It's always a pleasure," Jacob reciprocated with a warm smile."We'll surely return on our homeward path," I reassured them."Travel safely," Otsana's smile held both goodwill and concern. With renewed resolve, we embarked on our adventure, guided by Otsana's suggestion of a faster route. At nightfall, we nestled within the embrace of the forest. As dawn broke once more, we arrived at a small pack, where we hired a carriage, easing the burden of our journey.Days passed each pack offering glimpses into their world while cautioning us against the dangers that lay ahead. They claimed Whiterun was cursed."What do you mean?” I asked them.&n
Athena's POVWe embarked on our journey, yet an unsettling hunch gnawed at me, whispering of impending trouble.Stopping at several camps along the way to inquire about Whiterun, we encountered nothing but confusion and ignorance."I believe we should seek guidance from familiar faces," I suggested to Ralph, my unease growing palpable."Which pack shall we approach first?" Ralph inquired, his gaze locking with mine."Fable pack. I yearn to lay eyes upon Sarah," I declared. Thinking of the little girl. Before we ventured further, Ralph halted me with a solemn confession, redirecting my focus towards him.He recounted the incidents between himself, Tala, and the family. Anger steamed within him at her accusation of calling me a thief, but to his surprise, laughter bubbled forth from my lips."This is no joke," Ralph retorted, his tone grave and resolute."I understand, yet her accusation holds a grain of truth,
Ralph's POVSince our return home, the relentless pull to reclaim the kettle has haunted my thoughts incessantly. Unable to shake its grip, I beckoned Tala to my office, eager for counsel.“I'm contemplating dispatching our finest soldiers to retrieve it,” I confided to her.“Come on, Ralph,” she countered.“What?”“Remember what you said during our quest for Athena in the woods? If not for the pressing matters at hand, you would have relished the moment.”“And?”“And I refuse to let this opportunity slip through your fingers. Embark on this journey with Athena, just the two of you,” she urged.“But what about Fridolf?” I interjected“Everyone stands ready to care for him. He's no longer a newborn, he'll be perfectly fine,” she reassured.“I suppose, but I'm unsure how Athena will take to it,” I mused
Athena's POV A full moon was upon us. Ralph insisted on celebrating our baby's arrival stirring a sense of reluctance within me, nestled beneath the warmth of our shared blankets."Do we truly need to go through with this?" I questioned, my voice muffled by the plush confines of our bed."Yes, my Queen. It's a momentous occasion, one that deserves to be celebrated in grandness," Ralph implored. "Very well, you've persuaded me," I conceded with a soft chuckle, the corners of my lips curling into a gentle smile. With a concerted effort, we roused ourselves from the comforts of our bed, preparing for the festivities that awaited us under the moon's luminous embrace. Gonzolo and Tidwulf joined in our celebration, their presence infusing the atmosphere with an air of jovial friendship. So many werewolves poured in from different packs to celebrate with us. Adorned in matching royal blue attire, Ralph and I radiated regal elegance, our garments adorned with intricate decorations that sp
Athena’s POVWe barely exchanged words, our interactions distilled to moments of serene rest and sumptuous meals. Tala orchestrated a surprise, melding my room with Ralph's, an unexpected fusion of our spaces.I thought highly of her unwavering confidence in our return, a sentiment mirrored in the enchanting adornments that now decorated our shared sanctuary. Each intricate detail breathed new life into the familiar confines, transforming our quarters into a veritable haven. The magnificence of our expansive bed is almost like that of a small room, beckoning us into a realm reminiscent of a storybook fantasy. Ralph and I made merry in the blissful harmony of our newfound abode, our hearts brimming with uncontrolled joy.As dusk descended and we gathered for dinner, a noticeable tension hung in the air, tangible in the furrowed brows and hesitant glances exchanged between my parents. Sensing the weight of their unspoken words, I followed them to their chamber, a silent understanding
Athena’s POV The joy swelling in my heart was indescribable, a radiant warmth that contrasted with Ralph's constant indoor presence, caring for our baby.Even when I managed to coax him outside, his return was swift. I resolved to visit my Uncle before our departure. With the shaman departing at dawn, farewells were exchanged.Choosing to leave our child in Ralph's care, Ulf joined me to go see my uncle. The werewolves we encountered along the way cast peculiar glances my way. Ulf reassured me, claiming it was likely fueled by rumours that I needed to grow accustomed to, a phenomenon potentially exacerbated in Stormwind.Arriving at my Uncle's residence, the state of disarray suggested distress, yet he seemed to be managing admirably. "Uncle," I enfolded him in a prolonged, tight hug, reluctant to release him. Ulf extended her greetings as we settled into the couch in the somewhat chaotic sitting room."To what do I owe this visit? You should have called me," he remarked, and I res
