6 "Morning run"

Luke had unconsciously blurted the words out. And when he realized it, Ana was glaring hardly at him. And Chase.

" I'm sorry, I..." Luke began but swallowed the words back.

" What the hell do you take me for?" All of Ana's attention and anger were channelled at Chase.

" Oh you think because I don't have my wolf then I know nothing about being one? You think I don't know about mindlinks, huh? So you brought your buddy here to talk about me in your minds where I can't hear you but I can still feel your fucking eyes glued at me" she yelled.

Chase couldn't say anything at this point. He could only sigh tiredly. He had never been one to argue about anything or stress himself over things like explaining himself to someone but here he was, trying over and over again.

But she wasn't even ready to listen to him.

" Jesus Chase! Cut me some slack" Ana mumbled. She walked past him, brushing shoulders roughly.

" Where are you going? You'll get lost without me" Chase called out.

" Getting lost is way better than being with you" was Ana's throwback.

Chase didn't follow. He ran his hand through his hair with one of his hand resting on his waist.

" Woah!" Luke mumbled.

" Why is she so rude to you?" He said.

Chase shrugged.

" We didn't... uhh... We didn't kick off on an exactly good note" Chase's eyes were stuck in the direction Ana went. He could see her retreating figure in jeans and a crop top with her coat hanging over her shoulder.

Tyga growled lowly.

Even from such a far distance, she still made him restless.

" But it's nothing to worry about, I guess" he mumbled.

Who was he kidding? It was definitely something to worry about.

Taking his eyes off what was almost a faded figure of her and shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Chase turned back to Luke who was staring at him with a surprised expression.

" You said you have news" Chase said diverting the topic.

" The news can wait Wolf Prince. First, please clarify me on what you meant when you said she's your mate" Luke said.

" I meant what you heard. Now keep it down before someone hears you"

Luke gasped.

" She doesn't know? No one knows?"

" She's my stepsister, dude"

Luke gasped again, rather too dramatically. Chase rolled his eyes.

" Come on, we'll talk better in my office"

Chase began walking and Luke followed behind him, the latter watching in confusion as the former kept looking back at intervals.

When they got to the office, Chase collapsed into a chair.

" So..."

" Wolf Prince, you found your mate" Luke was ecstatic. Maybe a little too much!

" It's not such a big deal, okay?" Chase said.

As soon as the words left his mouth, he realized how wrong he was.

This was a big deal. This was infact a very very big deal. In no time, he would take over the Alpha's position. He would be the ruler of the greatest pack in the whole of the woods. He wasn't expected to do this alone. Infact, the reason it had been stalled up until now was because Chase hadn't found his mate.

His Luna was supposed to be beside him while the crown was bestowed upon him. She was to be his partner, a helping hand and a mother to the people. Having stayed so long without a Luna, Greene Woodland really needed one now and Alpha Ron wasn't going to let Chase take over the throne and face the responsibilities alone.

But what was to happen now that he had found her?

This was supposed to be a thing of rejoicing. The moment his wolf recognized her, he was supposed to announce it right there at that party but how could he?

She was his stepsister.

It would have been quite disastrous. He would have probably been seen as crazy. The last thing Chase wanted was to be an obstacle to his father's happiness and to the growth of the pack.

So he had to keep this to himself. Even when it felt like his wolf was going to tear him apart, he had to remain in control.

" I'm sure you've thought it through and realized that this is indeed a big deal" Luke said bringing Chase back from his thoughts.

" It is a big deal but She's my stepsister, how do we work around that?"

" I don't get it. How could your mate be your stepsister? I've never seen that before"

" It's some crazy thing going on here. Which is why I can't tell anyone, dude they'll think I'm crazy"

" That's true. So what do you intend to do?"

" I have no idea how but I need to figure something out. And quick! Tyga is making loose my mind"

Luke's brows furrowed in a tease.

" Is it just Tyga or is it you too?" He joked.

" What are you talking about?"

" She is something though, I would have loved to have her as my mate" Luke teased.

Tyga growled loudly or was it Chase who did?

Luke snickered.

" I'm just kidding man. By the way, I returned with news"

Chase ignored the gnawing feeling in his chest and tried to concentrate.

" What is it?"

" It's about the rouges we've been trying to find for quite a while. Word has it that they're currently residing in Redlands pack"

Chase growled again.

" Redlands pack again"

" What do you mean again?"

" Ana is getting married to Arthur Grant"

" Wait, what?""

" I think there's some sort of conspiracy somewhere"

" You can't let your mate get married to someone else, especially when that someone is Arthur Grant"

Chase knew all of these. He definitely wasn't going to let it happen, he didn't have to be told.

" I'll figure something out"

" We will figure something out" Luke repeated.

There was silence for a while, each of them watching the morning sun rise with different thoughts racing through their heads.

All of a sudden, the loud howl of wolves broke the silence, another taking over when one stopped.

" It's time for the pack's morning run" Luke said.

Almost the same time, Chase's eyes widened. He jerked out of his chair and rushed out the door. Luke watched him in shock and then it dawned on him too.

" Shit! Ana!" He cursed following behind Chase.
