Iris showed up around 11 pm. She said that Jason was impressed with their demo and that Monday he was meeting with his boss and a few members of the team to discuss a contract. She asked if Pearl had a lawyer. Pearl was still paying her divorce attorney but didn't have one that knew anything about this kind of thing. She told he she would look into it all and get back to Jason after Monday. Pearl checked her phone and saw no one had texted or called so she asked if Iris knew how Dylan was. "He was still unconscious when I left at 7." Iris said. Pearl gathered a few things and told Iris she was heading back to the hospital.
"Ok sweetie. John is there now. I will be back tomorrow around 10 am to get you and your things and take you to the apartment that you're staying at on Central Park South. I'll keep in touch. Praying for Dylan."Pearl thanked her and made her way into the lobby and then headed to the hospital. "How is he?" She asked John when she got toPearl made it back to her hotel with a few hours to sleep before Iris was supposed to arrive. She was so happy about Dylan's prognosis and him waking up, it was a rush of emotions. She fell into bed and was asleep instantly.Iris arrived right on time and helped Pearl carry her things down to the car. "I hear you and Jason have a mutual friend that is letting you stay at their place. It's a really nice area. They must do well for themselves." Iris was looking out of the window, half talking to herself."Yes. They do well. And I'm grateful for being able to stay in town a few extra days." Pearl said, still exhausted."Jason said he was able to contact the housekeeper and she is meeting us there to let you in." Iris said. "I'm glad Dylan is doing well."They stopped in front of a high rise, directly across the street from Central Park. Once inside, they took the elevator to the top floor. An older, friendly looking woman met them at a door d
"Pearl...hey honey. Wake up." Pearl felt someone shake her shoulder. She opened her eyes and saw it was still dark outside and she was still on the couch in Rhys' apartment. She looked to her right and saw Rhys standing there, looking at her with a pained in his eyes. "Hey there, sorry to wake you up. I wanted to tell you I got in a little sooner than planned and I'm home. Come here." He said and opened his arms. She fell into him and he wrapped his arms around her tightly, "I can't imagine what it was like going through that. I can't imagine what you're feeling inside. I'm here. Let's get you to bed." He said, taking her hand and leading her up to the loft. He held her and rubbed her hair, while she sobbed until she fell back asleep."Good morning." Rhys greeted Pearl with a smile and breakfast in bed. "I just made toast and coffee. I figured you should eat but I didn't know how your appetite was."She looked at him gratefully and hugged him. In all the stre
"You're home." Rhys stood to greet her. He had a simple dinner made and was wearing the sweater and the beanie she bought him. He smiled and kissed her. "Well? How do I look?" He asked, twirling on a circle."You look as beautiful as ever." Pearl giggled."I'm so happy I was able to come here and be here for you. How are you doing, you doing ok? How is Dylan?" He asked."He's good. He's doing well and making good progress."Rhys took her hand and walked her to the couch. He sat with her and just held her. It felt good. "There's food if you're hungry." He said. "I'll eat in a little bit. Right now, I need this more." Pearl said. They finally left the couch and ate a little. After a bottle of wine, Rhys looked for something to do in his apartment. He found a deck of playing cards and asked if she wanted to play blackjack. "Ha! Sure. What are we betting? I don't have enough money to lose any." Pearl laughed."I'm a little drunk but I have a bet for you." H
He kissed her and woke her but she pretended to still be asleep. It was sometime in the middle of the night, they had fallen asleep, still in their clothes. It had been a long few days. She felt him moving her shirt over her head and lifting her higher in the bed. He pulled her jeans down and off and covered her with the blankets, trying not to wake her. She watched his shadowy movement in the dark as he took his clothes off and climbed into bed next to her. She heard him rustle some paper on his side of the bed and felt him place a rose by her head on the pillow. Just as he moved over her, back to his side, she sat up halfway and kissed him. "Thank you for being so good to me." She said. He put his arms around her and moved her body underneath his. He wiped her hair from her face and kissed her back. He moved down her neck and further down her body. She moaned and pulled him back to her face. He moved her panties to the side and touched her. She could feel how wet she was. He moved
Pearl looked at Rhys and saw he wasn't his normal self. David couldn't make eye contact with her."What are you doing here?" Pearl asked."I told you I was coming to see you and make sure you are ok." David said. "Well you see me, and I'm ok." She was pissed."Yeah man, sounds like he was really worried about you. Sounds like he had good reason to since you guys are sleeping together and he's in love with you." Rhys said as he stood up and walked toward the door. "I'll leave you guys to talk. Pearl, I'll be staying at a hotel for a couple of days. I need some time to think. You're free to be here as long as you need." He said as he left."Why would you come here? Have you lost your mind? I told you to stay away from me. What did you tell Rhys?" She was beginning to feel tears coming from the rage she felt in her throat and her chest."I called and asked for his address when I got into town. I told him I was here to make sure you
Pearl woke up to find herself still on the couch and no Rhys in sight. She mustered up the energy to go see Dylan at the hospital."Hey. How are you today?" She asked when she came into his room. "I'm good. I feel really good. Doc is discharging me Sunday. We set up an appointment with a specialist back home on Monday. So I'll be watched closely. Can you get flights set up for us?" He asked. "Of course I will. What time are they thinking Sunday?""I'd make sure the flight is in the evening. Never know around here." He said shrugging."How are you Pearl?" He asked, and Pearl could see in his eyes that he knew something was wrong."I'm ok. I'm fine. Will be fine. I'm just so glad you're doing so well.""Stop bullshitting me Pearl. I took a bullet for you, the least you can do is not lie to me." He said, grabbing her hand and sitting her down on his bed."There have been some dramas in my life but I don't want to burden you wi
Pearl typed a formal letter of resignation and sent it to David. She told him she would work remotely for the next two weeks and be on hand if they needed her for any transitioning of her replacement. After a day, she hadn't heard back and figured that was that.It had been a week since she had last seen Rhys. It was the longest week of her life. She just wanted to talk to him. To have the chance to explain everything, then he could hate her forever.Dylan was doing great. He had started out patient therapy and he and Blake were getting along so well, Blake decided to move in permanently and be his roommate. They still hadn't heard from Jason and their dreams were becoming more and more distant. Pearl had about a thousand dollars in the bank and that was not enough to live on for long. Dylan had talked to the owner of the brewery and they agreed to let her take over covering while Dylan was off, serving there as a side job a few days a week. It
She knew he was in town. He had to be to drop off the book. But he wasn't anywhere she knew him to be. It was frustrating. She checked with Frank at the bookstore, Dylan, the charity hospital. No one had heard from him. She didn't understand what the inscription meant and it was tearing her up inside. She finally heard back from David two days after she sent her resignation email."That will be fine. Thank you. And you will be paid for a full 30 days and your paid time off days. Contact HR with any questions."And that was it. She thought she should be surprised but she wasn't. How awful it was that she had wasted her time with him and lost Rhys because of it.She had known Rhys for a short time. She knew it was fast. She knew it was insanity to think about a serious future with him. But she did. Tuesday morning, she still had heard nothing from him. They had their gig at the brewery the following night and she knew she had to
The flight home was short and Pearl was thankful. She was still exhausted from the jet lag. Her new attorney was meeting her the following day to discuss the company and the process with all the legalities with the transfer. Pearl knew she wasn't the person to run it and hoped she could handle it for the five years she needed to before she was able to sell it. Her and Dylan got back to the house and found a black Escalade parked in the driveway. "Who is that?" Pearl asked. "I have no idea." Dylan said. They got out of the car and the Escalade door opened. "Jim?" Jim what are you doing here?" Pearl asked. "I am your new driver and bodyguard. John hired me just this morning." He said. Pearl smiled and ran to him, hugging him. She missed him. "But what about Rhys? You've worked for him for years." Pearl asked. "I'd like to think that I protect people with integrity. I didn't give my life as a navy seal and special op to follow around a spoiled little movie star that enjoys treating
Pearl's phone rang as she was walking into the hotel. "Erik,"she said, seeing his number light up on her phone. "Mmm nightingale..." His sleepy voice was absolutely adorable. "Sorry I didn't answer the phone, some of us are still asleep at four am. I was hoping you were calling me to tell me you were in London and that you just couldn't stay away." Pearl smiled. "I am so sorry. I am going to have to get used to the time difference between us. I wanted you to know I plugged your charity on the tonight show. I was asked an awkward question about us and I was able to make it about the charity.""Awkward question?" She could tell he was smiling when he asked. "Yes. He asked about me being spotted in Italy with a certain royal," she said. She knew the questions would come and continue but she would try to handle them the best she could. "Why not tell them we are together?"Silence. Pearl wasn't sure if he was joking or not. "Why would I say that?" Pearl was confused and elated, but d

I hate this city, Pearl thought to herself. She had not had the best experiences there. Dylan grabbed her luggage and helped her carry her things into the hotel, through the swarm of photogs outside. They were relentless now that Pearl had been spotted with Erik. "Well, well if it isn't the belle of the ball." Ian greeted them with a hug. He leaned closer to Pearl. “I hear the best way to get back at a lying, slimy, shit fucker for an ex is to galavant all over Europe with the royal family, then have the prince of fucking England knock him to next Thursday. I need to take some lessons from my bad bitch bestie." Pearl smiled and hugged him. “I missed you,” She said. "Same kid. Same." She wanted to ask him about Carys and the baby but she figured they would have their time for that. "I want to talk to you about Seattle,” Pearl said. "Oh yeah? What about?" He asked. "I might want to buy a home there,” She said. "My company has it's main base there and it's closer to LA for the ba
Iris was waiting for her at the airport. "Hey there. How are you?""I'm good,” Pearl said, unconvincingly. "How was Italy?" Iris asked, helping her put her bags in the car. Pearl paused and sighed. “It was the best time of my life." Iris drove her to Dylan's house. He was there, at the door, waiting to greet her. "Hey there,” he said, hugging her. "I'm glad you're home." He walked her into the house. "I set up a room for you,” he said, leading her to a newly remodeled bedroom upstairs. He had moved a bed in and bought her new bedding and blankets. All of her books and journals were neatly lined on a bookshelf and her clothes were all hung in the walk in closet. "You didn't have to do this, I was expecting to come home to boxes piled up somewhere,” she said. "I remember your apartment. The boxes you left packed. I didn't want that for you here."She smiled and hugged him. "Thank you,” She said. "You've got a day to get settled and then we are off to New York. Better try to ge
"So you have everything?" Pearl asked him as they were walking to the door. "I do. Listen, Pearl. This was wonderful. Thank you for spending your entire holiday with me,” Erik said, kissing her forehead. "Thank you for making my holiday so amazing. I can't thank you enough. For everything." She sighed and didn’t care how loud it was. He leaned down and picked her up, giving her a big hug. "Ok then. Take care of yourself. Look me up if you ever need a fortuitous meeting in Florence again,” he said smiling sadly. She smiled back and walked him to the car. "Goodbye Charles. Thank you for keeping us safe,” she said, handing Charles a box of cookies the chef had made for him. He thanked her with a nod and walked out to the car. "Alight then. Goodbye, nightingale,” Erik looked into her eyes one last time. He gave her one more hug and got into the car. She watched as they pulled away and she walked to the middle of the road, standing there, watching until his car was out of sight. The
"I'm going to miss you,” Pearl said, giving Fi a big hug. "You saved me this week. You gave me courage. Thank you. I love you." "I love you, too. Let me know where you end up and I will come and see you. You can come and stay with me in LA after I'm done filming the show. My character dies in the last episode so I won't have to work with that pussy boy after this,” She said. "I just may take you up on that." Pearl was truly thankful to have found a friend like Fi. She and Erik walked her to her car and she hugged her again. "Thank you, Erik. For being the bad ass she needed." Fi said to Erik. “It was my pleasure to break that wanker's face,”Erik said. Fi smiled and hugged him "See you soon you beautiful bitches!"Fi yelled as she waved and drove off. "Did she just call me a bitch?" Erik asked. Pearl laughed, “It's a term of endearment." "One I will never, ever use on you,” He said, kissing her head. "We have the house completely to ourselves now. Whatever shall we do?" Erik ask
"There you are. I was worried,” Erik said. "I'm fine, Lancelot.” Pearl rolled her eyes. "I am both Arthur and Lancelot to you, M'Lady Guinevere." He said, picking her up and spinning her around. They heard a throat clear behind them. Erik put her down and Pearl adjusted her dress. Pearl whispered to Erik,”She's got a whole little speech for you. It's adorable." Phoebe curtsied and said "Your highness, crown prince Friederike Pilsen-Chamberlain, it is an honor and a privilege to meet you. I am Phoebe Davies, a friend of his highness prince Augustus Pilsen-Chamberlain." She curtsied again. Erik, in full form, looked formal and stern and took her hand and kissed it. "It is lovely to meet you, Phoebe Davies." Then, to her and everyone else's surprise, he picked her up and twirled her around too, giving her a hug. "Any friend of my brother's is a friend of mine. Welcome and make yourself at home." He said, then turning back to Pearl. "Now where were we? Ah yes." He said, picking her up
"Hello, brother. How has your week been going?" Auggie asked as he sat down. Erik was dressed in all white with sunglasses on. The wind blew through his wavy hair and he ran his hand through it, making an attempt to tame it. "You're growing a bit of a beard. I like it." Auggie said. "Thank you. And my week has been interesting, to say the least." Erik said. "How's Pearl? I just adore the shit out of that girl" he said. "She is good." He said, smiling. He could still smell her on his hands from their early morning love making. "Brother you are blushing? Dear god you've got it bad for her!" He said. "I mean, look at you? Your clothes are wrinkled which never happens, your beard isn't trimmed and your hair looks a tousled bird's nest. You've been living inside of that woman for the last few days and I couldn't be prouder.""Slow down. I haven't been, what you said, well maybe I have. I like her. But I wouldn't say I've got it bad for her. I don't even know what that means." Erik repl
