Adamantem’s POV
I was weeping with no hope in my heart. I was haunted by the fact that the last hope that, I thought, could bring me happiness and out of my miserable world with my Alpha Father rejected and despised me too. Slowly, I sat in the corner of the small and dark room which will be my place forever starting today. Just like what he did to my Omega mother, my Alpha father just killed me today. He killed my future; he brought me to this abyss of unending misery, in which death is better than living.
I fell asleep with a heavy heart, while tears were still falling non-stop. In my sleep, the past haunted me again.
I saw myself waking up, and I climbed down my bed. I wanted to see my mother, so, I ran to my mother’s room with the intent of hugging and kissing her.
“Mom, are you inside? I asked after knocking thrice, but her door did not open despite my knocking again. I opened her room’s door but found no one inside. I walked down and searched for her in every corner of the packhouse but she seemed not to be around.
“Ms. Marta, did you see my Mom? She is not in her room,” I asked our Chief Maid when I met her in the living room.
“No, Adamantem, I did not see her,” Ms. Marta replied, without even looking at me. “Excuse me,” she added as she walked fast away from me.
I looked at Ms. Marta’s retreating back with a frown. When I saw nothing of her anymore, I started to look for my mother again, until I saw my Alpha Father in the dining hall, eating alone while some omega maids were around serving him.
I approached my Alpha Father who intently did not bother to look at me, even when I was already sitting beside him.
“Father, good morning. Did you see Mom?” I asked, hoping he would look at me and answer.
He glanced at me and frowned. “Adamantem, can’t you see that your Alpha is eating? Did you not know the rules? No one can talk to the Alpha when he is eating unless he is the one asking!” he hissed at me, and that frightened me.
“I am sorry, Alpha Father,” I softly said with tears about to fall.
“Don’t ruin my morning, Adamantem. Get out of here now and never talk about your mother to me anymore! She is dead!” he growled at me.
“No, Mom is not dead. You are lying to me, Alpha Father,” I said with tears now rolling down my cheeks. I shook my head several times, not wanting to believe what he just said.
“She is dead! Now, get out of my sight, or I will throw you away!”
With fear, I scrambled to my feet and ran away from my shouting father. My tears were unstoppable. I stayed in my room hoping my Mom would eventually come to console me again.
“Mom! Mom! Where are you?! You are not yet dead, right?! Father is lying, answer me, Mom, please, answer me!” I was shouting not only with fear but in anger. I cried more.
I was in that nightmare when something awakened me. My room’s door was opened and someone got inside.
“Mom?!” I shouted, astonished.
“Shhh, be silent, Adamantem,” a voice whispered. But it was not my mother, it was Ms. Marta, who sneaked and brought me food.
“Eat and be strong, Adamantem. One day, you will get out of this hell, I am sure of that,” Ms. Marta said, with tears also dripping from her eyes.
“Ms. Marta, why am I cursed with this kind of fate by the Moon Goddess?” I asked in between sobs.
“No, don’t say that, Adamantem. You were not cursed by the Moon Goddess. This might be just a test of your faith to believe in your beautiful fate in the end.” Ms. Marta’s words were reassuring, but they did not ease the pain in my heart.
...
When Ms. Marta, silently walked out of my room and sneaked back inside the packhouse’s kitchen. I fell to my lonely reminiscences of the past, twelve years before today.
That day when I did not find my Mom in her room and all around the packhouse and even within the premises of our pack’s village, I fell into a depressing loneliness. As a child six years old at that time, losing my Mom and having an Alpha father, who did not care for me, were just too much to handle.
Five lonely days later, I never saw Mom. I woke up at around midnight with a grumbling stomach. I did not have any meal after breakfast. No one cared and no one thought about me. I got out of my room to get at least a glass of milk, something that a six-year-old girl could prepare for herself.
I tiptoed, not wanting anyone to notice me. I was about to enter the dining area when I saw Ms. Marta with a tray of food in her hands. Wondering who needed such food at this hour, I followed her silently. I wondered more when she pushed the button on the secret slab door, which looked like a kitchen cabinet on the outside, and when it slowly opened, she entered and stepped down the stairs, going to the packhouse’s underground area. No one usually goes in there unless we need to hide when we are being attacked by werewolves from another pack or by those evil rogues.
I hid on the table and waited for Ms. Marta to return to the kitchen. When Ms. Marta returned. I followed what she did. At my six-year-old height, I could not yet reach the push button so I got a chair and stepped thereon to reach it. As I pushed the button, the secret slab door slowly opened. With much excitement, I entered the door and stepped down the stairs.
It was a bit dark inside. There was only one light therein that was strategically located at the foot of the stairs. Fear started to build up in the pit of my stomach while wondering who was inside that dark area, and who needed food at that hour.
I walked slowly while my small hands gripped the wall in the dark like my guide. Then, at the far end, I saw a dim light. I walked further until I reached the end side.
I saw a locked door in a small room. There was a peephole, but I could not reach it.
“Hello, anyone there?” I asked in my tiny voice and knocked gently. Then I heard someone move inside and then a sob.
“Hello, is there someone inside?” I said and knocked again, and I heard the sobbing grow louder.
“Just answer me please, who are you? I am Adamantem. Please don’t cry.” I said in a whispering tone. I was afraid that someone might hear us upstairs.
“Adamantem, my Adamantem.” I heard a woman mutter my name inside the room, in between her sobs. My brows knitted as I noticed that the voice seemed familiar to me.
“Yes, I am Adamantem, who are you, please? Your voice seemed familiar to me,” my lips almost touched the room’s door when I spoke in my low voice.
“My Adamantem; my valuable gem, my diamond, my light, and my life,” the woman said, bringing chills all over my body. Only one person always told me those words before and upon realizing who was inside the room, my tears fell.
“Mother, is that you? Mother, Mother,” I called to her repeatedly.
“Adamantem, listen. Don’t tell your father that you know where I am. Pretend that you never remember me anymore. Do not come here again, my child. Spare yourself from your father’s wrath. Be good and follow him. I love you, Adamantem,” my Mother whispered. Her sobbing continued.
I shook my head. In my young mind, I questioned if a husband and a father should really need to treat his wife and child, the way my Mom and I have been treated by my Alpha Father. Confusion and then anger started to grow in my heart.
“Mother, I will not leave you here or will you just let me in? I just want to be with you,” I said, sobbing.
“Shhh, stop crying Adamantem, don’t imitate me. I am a weak mother, who cannot even fight for myself or more so, for you. Just go and never come back. Live life as if I don’t exist anymore. I am dead Adamantem; I am dead deep inside,” my Mother said further, and her weeping never ceased.
“Mother,” I muttered as I stopped from recollecting the past. My pain became deeper.
I was in that state when I heard someone shouting and begging. I could hear a loud whipping sound as a woman’s begging continued.
“Apology Alpha, apology. Please stop, I can’t take it anymore.”
Adamantem’s POVI heard those begging words from a very familiar voice. She kept on begging as my tears flowed again like rivulets.“Ms. Marta,” I murmured the name of the voice's owner, begging for her dear life. I closed my eyes and prayed to spare Ms. Marta’s life. She is the only one who loves me and cares for me. As my eyes were closed, I covered my ears with my hands, not wanting to hear more of her cries and pleading. My mind flew from the past, remembering how Ms. Marta lifted my spirit, saved me, and picked me up whenever I was down and about to give up. And, once again, my mind has been haunted by the past.I was six years old and Ms. Marta caught me that time, visiting my mother in this dark underground room.“Adamantem, what are you doing here? Adamantem’s POV“Adamantem; I named you Adamantem because when I gave birth to you, I knew, the heaven, the Moon Goddess gave me the most precious gem in this world.” Those were my Mother’s words when I came to her room one day while crying because my Alpha Father spat at me and told me to get lost as I was a worthless living creature.I was just six years old by then, and I could not understand why my mother said I was her precious gift while my Alpha Father told me I was a worthless she-wolf.I sobbed more as I replied to my mother, “Why would Alpha Father think of me otherwise, Mother? For him, I am worthless. He even said that my name never suits me at all.”She embraced me smilingly, letting me feel all the love that she has for me, and said, “In this world my child, it is your belief about yourself and not of anyone else that will get you through. Adamantem’s POV“But, Alpha Father, I could not do it. How would a woman like me seduce an Alpha like that of the Golden Valley Pack?” I asked with disbelief. I looked at Ms. Marta and she too was in awe when she heard my father’s words, while Luna Betty was smirking.“I don’t care how you are going to do it, Adamantem, if you need to be naked in front of him, just do it then! He is the most powerful Alpha in the realm and for him to be my son-in-law means more power and wealth for our pack! Now, if you don’t have more to say, go, take a bath, and beautify yourself. The beautician will come to your room in a while. The Wolf Clan Conference will be tonight. We will leave in the afternoon to arrive at the venue on time. So, be ready by then,” My Alpha Father said firmly as he motioned for me to go now. It is as if I don’t have any right to refuse.I ran to my room and, while running my mind caught my father’s words as he mind linked me. “Refuse to do it and both you and your mother will
Adamantem’s POV“Ada, if Alpha Eleo is our Mate, then there will be no problem. I can easily fulfill my father’s wishes at the same time as my dream of marrying my mate will also come true.” my wolf heard me clearly that she agreed readily and did some somersaults once more.As I looked at the table of Alpha Eleo again, I noticed his absence therein. I was suddenly in a panic. “No, he cannot just go away without us meeting face to face,” I hurled at my head, and Ada, my wolf, agreed.“Alpha Father, excuse me, I need to go to the washroom,” I said before leaving the seat beside my father. I looked around and searched for Alpha Eleo. My sense of smell was my guide in finding him.I saw him standing near the poolside and, luckily, no one was around the area except him. I slowly walked toward him and stopped a few steps away from him.As if he sensed my presence, he turned his head and looked at me with the same squinting eyes. Adamantem’s POV“So, what happened, Adamantem?” my father whispered, asking me the moment I sat down again beside him.“Nothing yet, my Alpha father,” I whispered back with a quiver. How can I tell him that Alpha Eleo has already rejected me? I cannot just tell him now. I bowed my head, not wanting him to see the lies in my eyes.”Ada, what will I do now?” I asked my wolf through my mind, hoping she had something to offer as a solution. But hurt as she was like me, Ada did not reply. She kept her silence.I was devastated, “Could anyone at least love me and treasure me? Isn’t it that the Moon Goddess made this mate bond to create more love between fated wolves? But why is it that it seems this mate bond is a mere word, a lie; just like my Alpha Father to my Omega mother and Alpha Eleo to me? I could not get it, Ada. Adamantem’s POV“Alpha Father,” I said as I immediately sat up when he approached me. Anger was clearly shown in his eyes and I felt my soul deserting me. I know what will happen next, and I call on Alpha Eleo once again. I tried to mind-link him.“Alpha Eleo, help me please,” I pleaded, hoping my words could reach his mind. But my frustrations grew more when he never replied.“Get up Adamantem, we are going home,” my Alpha Father said again, and then I noticed Luna Betty at his back, smirking at me.My Alpha Father and Luna Betty walked ahead fast, leaving me on the couch. I scampered to my feet and followed them to our waiting limousine outside the hotel. The moment I entered our limousine, my Alpha Father already cursed me.“What did you do there, Adamantem?! Did you just bring more embarrassment into my name?!” he said angrily as he turned his back to give me a sharp look.I did not reply, instead, I just bowed my head and tried to call on Alpha Eleo again, but to no avail.“I hea
