Dominic sat beside the bed and gently held Lily's wrist, trying to take her pulse. Fred once witnessed a pulse-taking before and knew how remarkable it was. Although it was hard to comprehend it from the viewpoint of mainstream medicine, it had somehow proven effective.

"Leave us," Dominic said coldly, throwing Fred a sidelong glance.
