It was an emergency party at an exclusive location but the turn-up was great. There were at least sixty men when Anderson had expected twenty. The room wasn’t too big, with different colors of LED lights blending in. Assorted alcoholic drinks of all kinds were on display with only male waiters allowed, the whole event being all male. There were a few sofas with bar stools around the bar showcasing all kinds of drinks. The music was loud and some of the men were already dancing and dissolving into the party mood. Good thing tomorrow was also a weekend so they could still have a lot of time to rest even if they got wasted. Martin arrived earlier, enjoying a glass of Martini before Anderson walked in. Martin went to meet him immediately and they welcomed their former classmates together. Everything seemed like an old-school reunion with a blend of friends from high school and some from college. Some were colleagues from high school who had also been to the same coll
Dear cherished Reader, I have read all your requests for two or more chapters, which makes me happy because it means that you are enjoying reading the story as much as I enjoy writing it. Trust me, it’s what I intended for this month because I feel better and want to end the story by the end of the month but the problem is, I’m afraid of when my challenge would kick in again. I’ve had this health challenge for five years now so though I feel better sometimes, it usually doesn’t last long and for which reason the story might extend to April ending. I write the two chapters when I am up to it but hold on to one, just in case I am not able to write the next day. I hate to miss update days and leave you in the loop for which reason I arranged it that way, so that whether I am sick or not, you will have at least a chapter to read. I have another book ongoing as well and don’t want to put either of them on hiatus because they both have their unique readership base so I hope you understand
Two minutes passed and not a word had escaped Trent’s lips. The men were beginning to get bored, and upset. One of them said, “Bernice was hot and before I’d go after her, Anderson overtook me.” He had a bitter expression that made the other men laugh because he was married now so how could he still hold a grudge against Anderson because of a woman he couldn’t have? “I never thought Bernice would fall for Trent. I was waiting to see how it would end,” Another colleague said. Strange enough, everything he kept saying about Bernice, only made Anderson feel like a fool. He also realized that his priorities in college were wrong since he also felt attracted to Bernice’s sexy body. He didn’t care if she had a good heart or not. “He got her pregnant and left her,” another man said bitterly. “I think she died getting an abortion,” one man said. The men folk began getting angry but everything they said were like daggers piercing Trent badly. “How could you allow her to get an abortion? I
Mr. Baker was having dinner with his wife and second son, Robin, Trent’s kid brother who graduated from college a few months ago when his phone beeped. The sight of seeing his first child, who he made the CEO of his hard work, was a painful one. His brows creased, a frown lining them. There was a location attached to the video and pictures. Also, the video had begun popping up on some of the men's groups so messages from his business associates began flooding in all together. Mrs. Baker observed the changes in her husband’s expression, asking with profound care, “are you alright?” “How can I be alright when Trent is being imprudent?” The woman lost her appetite instantly. “What did he do?” The man passed the video to his wife, whose countenance turned horrid. “Mom, dad, what’s going on?” Robin asked, feeling neglected. He wasn’t as smart as Trent in school so Trent was still his father’s favorite at the moment. Robin was also a little careless, for which reason his father hadn’t i
“Where could they have gone?”Martin was disturbed. Joyce would have told him before anything else. He kept pacing here and there in deep thought and Anderson wasn’t any better. Trent couldn’t have finished facing his tyrant father to have tried to kidnap Avery and not from Martin’s house where everything was automated. Martin would have received an alert of someone breaking in.“This is your house so how will I know? Check the CCTVs.” Anderson was annoyed. This was Martin’s territory yet he was asking him where they could have gone. If it were Anderson’s house, he would have known what to do instantly.“But that will take time.” Martin didn’t have the patience to d******d the footage from a few hours to now, feeling that for every minute that passed, the women could be in danger. Anderson agreed but also reprimanded him.“That’s why you need human security, Martin, it would have made it faster.” Martin never considered human security since he had always lived alone. When Joyce joined,
Yvonne Sage saw Anderson entering his car before she got there. She waved. The man turned in her direction but quickly looked away. When she saw his car move from the car park, she followed him together with her friend, Celestine. On the road, she tried everything to get Anderson’s attention. “Can you flash him a high beam?” There was desperation in her tone as she asked. “Yeah, but why?” Celestine flashed the beam at the same time she asked the question, not understanding their reason for chasing after Anderson, the same way she couldn’t understand why they had to dress as men to attend an all-men’s party. At the latter part, she had lowered her head all through but saw how Yvonne had not batted an eyelash even when Trent was dancing naked. The only answer she got was, “It’s a long story.”“Do you know him?” Celestine didn’t want to be kept in the dark, when she knew who Anderson was and how ruthless he could be. Like what he did to Trent, she was sure that Trent would never anger
Flashback Bernice arrived at Anderson’s hostel. He was expecting and welcomed her with a kiss on the cheek. “Ander, I received the money you sent but can I have more? Mum and dad can’t afford-,” “Of course, I will send you more, Bernie, these dresses will look good on you. I picked them up myself,” Anderson said and brought out the surprise he had for her, for which reason he told her to come. He intentionally didn’t give her too much money at a time for her to not suspect that he was the heir to a trillionaire fortune but ensured that she had everything she needed. “You mean you went to the clothing store to get me clothes?” Bernice asked, surprised. Her friends had told her how they saw Anderson at the clothing store and he wouldn't even look at them. She knew she was the only one who had his attention but wondered if the clothes he bought were hers. Indeed, they were and she was so happy. “Why not? You should try them on. I won’t look. I will turn my back,” Anderson said and tur
“Wow, wow, wow, so what happened to the pregnant woman and how is she faring?” Anderson asked as soon as they reached the VIP ward where Sophia had been moved to. She pouted, knowing that he was teasing her, turning her face to the side, into the arms of Tom. Anderson chuckled and teased her further, “has it been up to a month since I last saw you? You have doubled in size in just a few weeks or is it a month?” “Ander, do you know how Avery will look if she gets pregnant?” Sophia suddenly found her tongue and asked. No pregnant woman wanted to accept that she had grown big. Sophia wasn’t an exception. Anderson smiled, unmoved by Sophia’s comparison. He got her just where he wanted. “I remember someone telling me she wasn’t ready. I don’t care how my wife will look when she gets pregnant. You were the one blabbing.” “Ander please, the pregnancy was my idea,” Tom pleaded, uncomfortable with Sophia’s discomfort. He appreciated that she didn’t fight it when he requested for them to begi

A week passed. Ace would drop Rebecca at school and wait till her lectures were over. Then he would take her to the hotel. The detective sent the information he was looking for and it was confirmed that Rose was still alive and everything had been set up. Carlos had eyes on Rebecca’s family’s wealth and was also obsessed with her beauty. Ace ordered Carlos’s sister to be brought from wherever she was, which took two days since she was vacationing in Hawaii. The detective suggested that he’d be around when the questioning was done and also suggested that Rebecca returns to the apartment to help them to arrest Carlos. As expected, two hours after Rebecca returned to the apartment, Carlos and a group of guys were headed that way. As soon as they entered Rebecca’s room without knocking, the detective, and a few policemen, made their way there. “It seems to me that you like the hard way, Rebecca,” Carlos said when he entered her room. Rebecca was busy on her laptop when they barged in. S
“You can’t do this. I said that no sex before marriage,” Rebecca said firmly, while Carlos dragged her to the door of her apartment. She was upset with the stupid request, looking for a way to escape this captivity she brought upon herself. “I agreed to that but what about kissing?” Carlos argued. He needed some intimacy, some kind of assurance from her. That would make him believe that she had indeed broken up with Ace but Rebecca was not ready to give in. “Please don’t do this. I’m not ready.” “Just open the door,” Carlos ordered, annoyed. Rebecca’s hand shook and the keys fell. Carlos knew that she was doing it intentionally. “Do you want me to tell everyone what you did?” He threatened her. She stiffened but quickly regained herself. “No.” She quickly picked up the key and unlocked the door but just before pushing it open, a strong force grabbed her arm and pulled her into his arms. His soothing cologne scent brought her so much comfort. Ace spoke to Carlos’s hearing, saying,
“Autumn, can you take care of the company for a month? There is something I need to take care of,” Ace walked into Autumn’s office and spoke.Autumn’s brows knitted, and she massaged her nape slowly, she responded saying, “I can. But I won’t, and you know why.” “I know that you are getting married soon. I will make sure that I finish everything way before then, I promise,” Ace soothingly said but Autumn shook her head. “That is not my reason and you know that mum and dad are among the board members, accessing our performance. Tell me what you are going to do or I won’t cover up for you,” She said solemnly sipping a cup of coffee. Ace went to hug her from behind, saying sadly, “Rebecca broke up with me.” Autumn froze and picked up her phone. “What? Let me call her.” Ace snatched the phone from her, straightened himself, and said, “No. Don’t. I suspect something and I need time to handle it so please trust me on this,” he pleaded. Autumn thought for a while and said, “If it's for
Another ten years passed. It was Ace and Autumn’s graduation ceremony. Everyone was happy except Rebecca. Ace has been there for her at all times and she began to feel the emptiness. Autumn has been her best friend, aside from being family friends and she wondered how she was going to cope without these two. They were two years ahead of her and she always feared this time of loneliness, which came too soon since they lived in apartments. Rebecca had shared the room with Autumn and Ace visited frequently. “I promise to visit you every weekend,” Ace said solemnly. This was not the first time Rebecca saw him in a suit but today, he looked breathtaking. It was no wonder that all the girls swooned over him but Rebecca had always prodded herself over the fact that Ace only had eyes for her. He made his intentions known but aside from a hug, and a peck here and there, they never got intimate. Ace brought out a ring and slipped it on her finger. “I promise to marry you after you graduate fr
A month earlier Anderson had returned from dropping Avery off at school. As soon as he sat on his seat, his intercom rang. He pressed the answer button, putting it on speaker mode. “Liana.” “Mr. Crown, Mr. Trent Baker is here to see you,” Liana said from the end of the line. Anderson’s browns creased, imagining the reason for this visit. After a pause, he said, “let him in.” Trent walked into the office and Anderson offered him a seat. “How may I help you, Trent?” Anderson asked with indifference, not bothering to offer Trent anything. It was not as if they were friends. “It’s about Bernice.” Anderson stiffened slightly. For a while, he has forced himself to ignore some intermittent sadness in Avery which she would not speak about. He already knew it was because of Bernice and never forced it out of Avery. Now he was wondering what was Trent’s catch in all this as well but somehow, he also did not want anything to change his mind, thereby responding coldly,“I don’t want to talk
Avery was in her second trimester and her energy level was at its peak. She dragged Anderson to shop with her at the Crowns maternity and kids store. A week ago, Anderson had ordered her enough maternity clothes to last her till the twins were born. He would drop her at school, and wait for at least ten minutes until she sent him a text message that she was in class. He would also arrive twenty minutes earlier to pick her up after school. When Anderson thought it to be too much, he would excuse her from work to rest a day or two. Susan supported them greatly, ensuring that Avery ate highly nutritious foods and took her vitamins. Avery was gradually happy but still, anytime she remembered Yvonne, she felt saddened, hoping that amnesty would find her within a few years or a miracle would happen to reduce her sentence since Anderson had forbidden her from talking about it. The doctors confirmed her pregnancy to be healthy with no signs of complications, which was a great comfort, knowi
Two months later Anderson went with Avery to the court to witness the judgment against Yvonne. They were surprised to see Trent there but he was in the company of a petite woman with brunette hair like Avery’s but the facial features were different. The woman looked very innocent like Avery’s early years in college. Seemed like Trent could not forget Avery and had to use someone with similar body features to help in that phase. For the past two months, the court battles were ongoing. Yvonne’s friends whom she had helped before, joined hands to help her with a good lawyer but the lawyer explained in simple terms that she would not win this case, looking at all the evidence brought out against her. The only thing they could do was to find ways of reducing the jail terms thereby appealing to the court that Bernice was not aware of Avery’s pregnancy so the judgment of assaulting a pregnant woman was reduced. Yvonne also pleaded that her intention was not to hurt or shoot Avery with the g
“Yes. I am pressing charges for attempted murder, assault on a pregnant woman, and like you said, illegal possession of arms,” Anderson listed the crimes that should send Yvonne away for at least twenty years. By the time she was out, she would hopefully learn her lessons. “It seems she will spend a long time behind bars. I had her chained to the bed and as soon as she recovers, we shall begin to process her to court. I already spoke to Liam and will be going to meet him from here. What about the man in the video?” The detective asked again. “Yes, I am pressing charges against him too. He almost ruined my wife’s reputation and he has to pay. Let Liam handle the rest. I have to take care of my wife,” Anderson said solemnly. “All right. If we need any further information, we will contact you and even speak directly to your wife. The video is clear evidence but we might just need more,” the detective said. “I don’t have a problem with that,” Anderson agreed, just before Martin and Joy
