Samantha

My first night in the room was long and hard. It wasn't just the state of the room that kept me up, the state of my heart also made it impossible for me to sleep. I hadn't mourned my parents properly, and I never knew if I would ever get the chance to. The image of my mother's wolf was burned into my memory. I wondered if she escaped.

Glover had betrayed my father and eradicated my entire family. My whole world changed that night, and the most painful part of it was I could never speak of it to anyone to keep my identity a secret.

There was a knock on my door the next morning. A girl was sent to bring me clothes. They were used and did not fit well, but I appreciated the generosity of the pack.

The people at the packhouse were not welcoming. They looked at me with suspicion. Finding food that morning was impossible. The cook had deliberately locked the kitchen to prevent me from getting something to eat. At first, I thought it was by mistake, but when I asked for food, the woman told me to go and get something to eat in the wilderness, after all that was where I came from. She also referred to me as a rogue and told me she hopes I leave their settlement when I get my wolf.

Her words were hurting, but she wasn't the only one that was cruel to me in that place. Everybody was mean and nasty. I had to do my chores with an empty stomach. The fact that I was not fed, while I was locked up did not help matters either. I wondered how much longer I would have to go without food.

Luckily for me, while I was emptying the trash, I found a couple of half-eaten sandwiches. I immediately looked around to be sure no one was watching. I picked all the sandwiches and went to eat them in my room. It was sandy but satisfying. I began to weep as soon as I finished eating them. I never knew a time would come when I would have to eat from the trash. This was my life now, and it wasn't pleasant.

They came to call me for dinner in the evening. I was surprised because of the way I was treated in the morning. Although I was invited, I wasn't allowed to eat until everyone had been fed. So once again, I was left with the leftovers. It wasn't just me this time around there were three of us. The only good part about the dinner was that it wasn't sandy and didn't come from the trash.

"How are you settling in." One of the girls asked me. She was older. I could tell that she was twenty. Her fully developed body indicated she would soon get her wolf and maybe, her mate. She didn't look cared for, and her eyes were hollow and dead. There was no more warmth in her eyes. Was this how I would look in five years? I thought to myself. I began to dread the years that were to come.

I was the youngest of three rogues in the pack. Jessy was 17 years, and Alisa was twenty. Alisa intended to leave once her wolf came.

The girls taught me how to survive in the pack. We ate leftovers and mended worn and torn clothes to wear. I was able to fix up my room with things I found in the trash. No matter how nice I made the room, it still looked like a room full of junk. The roof leaked when it rained, and there was no heat to keep me warm through the winter.

The younger pack members picked on us often, especially me, since I was the latest addition. Living there was hell, but the pain of losing my family and not knowing what happened to my mother was greater.

Slowly days turned into weeks and weeks into months. I was gradually becoming numb to my pain and situation.

11 months in the pack...

Someone barged into my room and dragged me out. I could not make out what was going on because my mind was still foggy from sleep. It was the middle of the night.

"lay her down over here!" I heard a hard voice command. It was cold and raining. I looked around, and they were all wearing their raincoats. I was the only one soaking wet. A man violently held my face, so I could look at him.

" Where are they?" he demanded. I was confused. I did not know what he was talking about.

"It needs some motivation to speak, " I heard a voice say. I immediately knew who it was. I knew it was Alexander. He was the only one that referred to rogues as 'it'. He was twenty-one years old, and he was the son of the Alpha. He usually helped his father with certain duties. I began to fear because I knew he was ruthless, and the few times that I met him were unfortunate and unpleasant.

Alex

I was tired of how my father showed the rogues pity and kindness. They were rogues for a reason, and now my father will come to terms with it.

The stupid and inconsiderate things had stolen a family heirloom and cash from my parent's room when they went in to clean the place. The moonstone they stole was the pack's good luck charm. We knew bad things would happen if we did not recover the moonstone. I needed this rogue to tell me where it was, and I was determined to get the information out of her.

"Make her understand we are not playing," I ordered the guard that held her to the ground.

Samantha

The silver whip came down hard on my skin. The pain was blinding. I had never been flailed in my life. This was the first time, and the pain was unbearable.

"Why, Why?" I began to cry. Clueless about what had happened. The thrashing stopped, and Alexander spoke to me.

"Where are your rogue friends?" he asked.

"In their rooms," I replied between sobs, and he laughed.

"Do we look like fools to you?" he asked. "Your friends have stolen the pack's moonstone and some money. Where are they?" he demanded.

My eyes widened at his statement. I was told that every werewolf pack had a unique moonstone. It was believed to be a gift from the moon goddess herself. What had Jessy and Alisa done? Where were they? I was confused.

Alex

I could read the confusion in the rogue's eyes. There was a probability that she wasn't a part of this, but unfortunately for her, I was going to make her a scapegoat until the moonstone was recovered, and the two thieves had been brought to justice.

"Take her away," I ordered.

I formed a search party, each wolf with a scent of the remaining two rogues, to search and find them outside the settlement. I knew they hadn't gotten far, but we also had to move quickly to increase our chances of finding them.

Alex The rain had subsided. I knew there was no way those two traitors could have gone far. I had instructed the wolves to spread out. We had to find the moonstone, or great misfortune would befall the pack. I got to a path where there was a strong smell of cow dung. This was quite confusing as there were no settlements close by, and we never took our livestock out for grazing. Our lands were wide enough. I began to suspect the cow stench was deliberate. Wolves had a strong sense of smell, and the only way to throw them off was to scramble the scent. This made me more determined to follow the stench. I quickly linked the pack members that were near to join me. Samantha The luna came to see me in my cell. I wasn't happy about her visit because she never liked me. The situation was scary. I dreaded what they would do to me. Stealing a pack's moonstone was an unforgivable crime. I was brought before Luna Michelle in chains. They had beaten me so badly that my body ached, and my left

Samantha I spent a week recovering in the pack hospital. The staff were unkind to me, and I didn't receive gentle treatment, but I was used to the cruelty. I was just grateful to be alive. When I found out that the stone had been recovered, I was filled with joy, but I still found it hard to believe that my friends, Jessy and Alisa, stole the moonstone. They had no reason to do so. I knew Alisa was hurting, but I also knew that she wasn't capable of such evil. Alisa was elated when she found out the son of the Delta, Mason, was her fated mate. She had a crush on him ever since she could remember, but he never noticed her. Her station in the pack made it impossible. Finally, the moon goddess had brought them together. Her hopes were high until Mason Whitespear decided to mate with her and reject her. He claimed the sex was a farewell gift, a taste of what they might have had. Alisa didn't take the rejection well. She had kept to herself for a couple of weeks. Sometimes at night, I wo

Samantha A few weeks later, Alisa passed away. My heart was broken, but I was also relieved that she had found peace. Jessy was released and allowed to continue working at the packhouse. Although we were still friends, something had broken in her. Something unfixable. Fourteen months passed, and I was gradually looking forward to my eighteenth birthday. I had been hearing a female voice in my head for a while. I was scared that the hostility and loneliness had begun to get to me. Whenever I heard the voice, I would experience a total blackout. I prayed very hard to keep my sanity. One day, while the voice spoke to me, I accidentally wandered close to the Alpha's apartment. I had no clue I was heading in that direction as the voice in my head had completely taken control of my body. Before I could change course, Luna Michelle spotted me. I was still apologising when some men showed up and arrested me. While in the holding cell, I wondered what crime I must have committed during my b

Samantha There were days I wanted to just run away, and go and live with humans, but I knew how difficult it would be. We lived differently from the humans, it would have been difficult to fit in if I left now. I did not have the skills or the education to survive in the human part of the world. My parents never saw the need to integrate with humans, and that had now affected me. I knew I would have to leave the Yellow moon pack one day, but I needed to get my wolf before I go. With my wolf, I believed I would be able to survive the world outside the yellow moon pack. I wasn't being paid for my work as the other pack members, because of that, I knew it would take more effort for me to survive outside the Yellow moon pack. The dog incident was on my mind for months and my blackouts had gotten worse. It was so bad that most of the pack knew about it and didn't fail to tease me about it at every opportunity they got. My new name was space dog, derived from the community party event and

Samantha I was surprised to find out that I had been put on the payroll. I also no longer had to eat leftovers from the plates. I was allowed leftovers from the much satisfying kitchen. Things had begun to look up for me. Although the behaviour of the pack towards me did not change, I remained optimistic. I was determined to save all the money I earned until it was enough to survive in human society. Alpha Wildbreed's questions baffled me. I doubted if they would let the matter rest. I began to sense that my time there was running out. Hopefully, I would have earned enough and left before they found out I had lied. Alex

  • Spirit Wolf   Chapter 08 It Happens To Everyone

Alex I couldn't believe that it had finally happened to me. My mother had thrown parties for three years, hoping I would find my mate in one of them. I never believed in fated mates until it happened to me. The moon goddess had played a joke on me. A rogue was my mate. I could not begin to process things. Why did it have to be her? The pack would never accept her. My mother would never accept her. I felt it was best to reject her now while she couldn't feel the mate bond. If I lingered and her wolf finally emerged, the rejection would be hard on her. I had seen what happened to rejected wolves, they rarely survived the pain. I wanted to tell my mother, but I was afraid of her reaction, and if I told my father, my mother would find out. "Don't make hasty decisions," I heard my wolf caution, "let's get to know our mate first," he advised. "Are you out of your mind," I responded, "We cannot get to know her. She is a rogue and a servant. This pack is the fourth most powerful pack in the

Alex Everything happened so fast. One minute they had overpowered me, and the next minute, they were still. Their snarls had turned to whimpers, and they were all looking in the same direction. I turned to look at what they were looking at, and what I saw shocked me. It was amazing, a brown wolf with golden eyes. I could swear the fur had golden highlights, but gradually the highlights turned brown. As the wolf advanced slowly, my attackers backed away. I searched around for Sam, but she wasn't there. That was when it clicked in my head that the majestic brown wolf was Sam. She snarled at them, and they shrunk in fear. I wondered how an ordinary wolf could command so much respect from other wolves. Her golden eyes shot out bright light. The light was so bright it hurt my eyes. The moment the light was out, the three wolves lay unconscious on the ground. Sam's wolf walked up to me to check on my wounds. She nuzzled me and licked my wounds. The most amazing thing happened. As she licke

Samantha I woke up in a comfortable bed. My surrounding wasn't familiar. I sat up and looked around. I found the yellow and red roses in a vase next to the bed. Everything started coming back to me. Alex was my mate. I couldn't believe it. What a cruel joke. The meanest and most obnoxious wolf was my mate. How could the moon goddess be cruel? "Don't be quick to judge," Helena said. "Welcome back," "What happened?" I asked her. "I emerged. I had to. They were going to kill him. So I emerged to save his life. Being our first time, it took a lot of energy from our human body, but we are okay now." she explained. "I see," I said. There was a knock at the door, and I asked the person to enter. It was the matron of the Alpha's quarters. She had a scornful look on her face. She was carrying a tray of food. She dumped it angrily on the table by the wall. "Who the hell do you think you are? " She began in anger. " Do you know how long I had worked here? How dare you report me to Alpha Al

Samantha We returned to the pack with Glover as our prisoner. The red wolf had secured the head of defence, Mr Reynolds. I had special plans for him. We lost two apex wolves, and eight wolves were injured. Judging by our odds, I knew we were lucky. Just as Alex once told me that suffering casualties were part of our job description. We couldn't always have it all. I braced myself and ordered an honourable burial for the deceased. We knew reporting Mr Reynolds would be useless because the government was in on it. So I decided to take the laws into my hands. He was going to witness what he made my mother witness ten years ago, because of his greed and lack of humanity. I never said I was a saint. So I sent him home with two delta spirit wolves. I had them slaughter his family in his presence and bring him back to the settlement. He would work as a slave until he no longer had use anymore, then he would be killed. We made sure he wouldn't dream of escaping by framing him for the dea

Samantha. It was time to finally move in on Glover. We intended to sneak up on him. I and Sylvester were going to scout the area first then send a signal. Alex had protested, but eventually, he had to agree. He was new to the terrain, wereas Sylvester knew the area better than me. Together, we were less likely to accidentally alert the enemy of our presence. Alex held me all morning. We made love more than three times. I began to fear he was up to something because this was exactly how he behaved when he rejected and dumped me in the human town in a bid to 'save my life.' " I hope this is not you saying goodbye?" I asked, lying in his arms, and he laughed. " You wish babe. You are stuck with me till the end." He said and began to tickle me. I laughed so hard I had to control myself to breathe. " I am just getting pumped up for the fight," he confessed and winked. He tried to make it seem as if he was simply drawing on our mate bond for energy. He did not need to do that for the s

Samantha Discussing the mutation with Alex was easy. Having faced hunters several times, he believed the mutation would be an advantage. He didn't hesitate to elaborate on how fighting against the hunters with only our jaws and paws would be a bad decision on our part. Hunters used specialised weapons and talismans in battle. We wouldn't stand a chance if we are unable to dodge them and attack them like humans. The fact that everyone would be in their right senses after transformation was good news too because he believed that was what deterred most of them in the first place. The marking wearing off after three days was a plus. Although it was easy to explain to Alex and convince him, I doubted it would be that easy with the elders. W

Samantha I sat alone in the alpha's office contemplating when we could start searching our cabins in the woods. Alex's idea was excellent. It was normal that he would think in that direction. He had fought and defended his pack even before his father went missing. He had all the experience and training that I did not have. I sat there wondering where we would start the search. If we would spread out and search different cabins or if all of us would just go to the one I spent the night in with Sylvester. We needed to be careful how we moved so we wouldn't tip them off. Someone knocked on my door, and I asked the person to enter. It was my mother. I smiled immediately I saw her. I had never imagined that I would see her again after that night that we parted in the woods. The memory came back to me in a rush. My mother had allowed me to ride on her wolf's back to escape the massacre. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be alive. We had run for almost twenty-four hours before we got to th

Samantha. The journey to the Luna Eclipse pack was a bit longer than expected. It would have been shorter if we went through the forest, but because we were going with the twins, we couldn't do that, so we opted to drive there. leaving with the twins was a tough decision, but we knew that Glover would attack the Yellow moon pack if we left them there. It was best we took everyone that was connected to us along with us. Alex's parents had insisted to join in the fight. We tried to persuade them not to come. Eventually, we allowed his father to come along and insisted his mother remained. Someone needed to remain to run the pack. She was to work hand in hand with Robert Carter and Delta Ashton Whitespear. Abel Wey was too excited about the fight that he made me a bit worried. The fact that he could not die was a plus on our side, but the fact that he had no motivation was a problem. What if he decided to switch sides last minute? He had no allegiances to anyone, nor did he have any af

Alex. A week passed in peace. We weren't relaxed, but we were relieved. We had time to rest and gather our thoughts. We sat and planned how we will bring peace by putting an end to Glover. With most of our disputes resolved, planning on how to end Glover's reign of terror was all we focused on. Luna Tamar had kept her promise and placed Raphael as the new Alpha of Rosehip's pack. The Blue moon pack members had tried to revolt, but unfortunately for them, Spirit wolves hated being challenged and disrespected. Luna Tamar had killed off their Beta, Gamma and Delta. The rest of the pack did not need much convincing to fall in line. As expected, the Blue moon pack became the Blood moon pack. Raphael tried to make peace with us, but we weren't there yet. A lot had happened because of his grudge. He had let Rosehip mislead him and ruin lives. He was lucky he wasn't involved in the people trading business, he would have died along with his mentor. Although he claimed he wanted justice, he h

Alex After a week of agony and pain, Luna Tamar finally arrived with a blue-eyed woman. She looked ethereal and beautiful. There was no doubt she was a goddess. I wondered why she was on the physical plane, but I kept my questions to myself. We had moved Sam to one of the rooms on the ground floor of the Alpha quarters. The room was kept cool at all times. I would often fill the tub with ice and place her in it to cool her system. Sam could not eat, therefore, I fed her mainly liquid. I wished I could share her agony and pain, and the fact that it was impossible gave me more heartache. The weird-looking woman examined Sam and smiled. " An Alpha," She smiled and looked at a man that stood next to her. " What do you say Abel, darling. A direct descendant of Selene." She said and smiled, then looked at me. " I don't do freebies." She stated, and I saw a pink human butterfly stand on her shoulder. " Meet, Hill, " she introduced the thing, and I didn't know how to respond. " Hello A

The moment I got the news of what happened to Sam, I ran out. I rushed to the infirmary when I was told Sam was injured and had been taken there by Sylvester. Elisabeth had come to call me, but Zeta Ashley had beaten her to it. Sam's mother had followed me to the infirmary. It was sad that this was the first time she would see her daughter since she was fifteen and Sam was badly injured. The twins were sent to my parents. Upon getting to the infirmary. I saw Sam stripped bare with her chest down and her back exposed. There were blackish veins around the claw wound on her back. "What the hell is this?" I screamed, " How did this happen?" I asked, and no one responded. The fact that she wasn't moving scared me. "No, No, Sam," I began to plead, " Please don't do this to me. You promised you would be alright. You have to fight this." I
