"Hey Chris," a girlish voice says behind him. He turns on his heel to find Piper beaming at him. Just what he needs - a distraction. "Oh Piper," he gives the best smile he could muster, really happy to see her. "I thought you said someone was waiting for you?" She asks. "Yeah. Well, I went to meet him but he's sorta busy with his girlfriend," Chris replies. "Oh. Did you come with your girlfriend?" She asks him curiously. She knows his story. She knows he is a player but she just decided to ask that. "Nope," he answers, trying his best not to cringe. "So...you live around here?" He asks to change the subject. "Yeah. I do. You?" "Nah," He answers. Piper wants to ask where he lives but doesn't wanna spoil her chance with him or sound too nosy. They talk about their schools for a while, laughing. Then Chris asks, "Wanna hear some pickup lines?" Piper grins, "Sure." "Are you g****e cause you have everything I've been looking for," he starts. Piper smiles, "Good one." "Did i
Chapter Eleven: It's Her It's Saturday morning and Christopher Hayes wakes up late due to last night's party. He awakes and he's very happy he didn't drink last night. If he did, he'd have a killer headache - a freaking hangover. As he looks around his room, he remembers the party and then Piper. He picks up his phone from the nightstand and dials Jason. It rings and then goes to voicemail. Chris calls him again and this time he picks up. "Jason?" Chris says after he doesn't speak for some seconds. "What the fuck man! There better be a good reason why the hell you woke me up," Jason grumbles. "Well, good morning to you too dude," Chris replies sardonically. "What do you want?" "Did you see Piper yesterday?" "Um...I think so," Jason answers. "What do you mean? You think so? Are you fucking kidding me? Did you even check on her as I asked you to?" Chris's voice begins to raise. "Chill dude. I checked on her and even gave her a ride home. Now would you please leave me to battle w
Chapter Twelve: Cute Dog After having breakfast and doing some cleaning around the house, Stephanie is happy she's finally leaving the house. She steps out and locks the door behind her. She struts over to her neighbor's door and knocks. About a minute later, a woman opens the door. "Why hello Stephanie," she smiles. "Hi. Mrs. Grace. I'm here for Daisy." "Oh come on in," Mrs. Grace ushers her in. "How are you dear?" She asks. "I'm okay," Stephanie answers. "Are your parents back?" Steph sighs, "No. They'd be back tomorrow, hopefully." "That's great. Let me go get Daisy." Mrs. Grace is in her late forties. She's divorced and has a son who is in college right now. His name is Harry and he's friends with Stephanie's brother, Brody. Harry had gotten his mum a dog to keep her company when he's in school. Mrs. Grace named her Daisy. Mrs. Grace walks into the room with Daisy who has a collar around her neck while holding a leash. Daisy sights Stephanie and runs up to her. "Hey g
Chapter Thirteen: Soon-to-be Boyfriend "Hey B," Stephanie says into the phone. "Steph Hi," Brooke replies from the other line on the phone. "Are you home?" "Yeah. We're back. It was -" "Can you come over?" Stephanie interrupts her. "Rude," Brooke drawls in an offended tone. "Please?" "I'll be there in ten," Brooke agrees. "Thanks," Stephanie hangs up. She needs to speak to Brooke right now. Not over the phone, face to face, eyeball to eyeball. She has to tell her the crazy shit that happened today. She stands and walks into the kitchen to get herself ice cream from the fridge. With a spoon and tub of Ice cream in hand, she walks back to the living room. She sits on the couch she was previously on and picks up the TV remote. Talking to Christopher today was shocking. This is the fourth year of them going to the same school. And the first time talking to him was at a park not even in school. You're wondering what happened? Well, it was quite awkward talking to him since s
Chapter Fourteen: A Date? Chris wasn't happy when he couldn't find Hazel on Saturday. He even had to walk around the park hoping to see her but he didn't. Did she run away? Could she have left to avoid further conversation with him? A girl? Not wanting to have a conversation with him? That's a first. Now it's Monday and he hopes he sees her. He's walking through the hallways with Jason who is telling him about Piper. "She's pretty, you know," Jason says. "I know," he replies. "Stephanie!" He hears someone yell. What the fuck? He and Jason stop their conversation and turn in the direction of the voice like everybody in the hallway is doing. Chris sights a brunette not far away with her back to them. It came from her. Why yell when the person is right in front of you? The name registers and he recognizes the person who yelled. He doesn't realize when his legs start to move towards them. As he suspected, Hazel is standing in front of her. They seem to be arguing and their
Chapter Fifteen: Those Bitches "Why did you do that?" Brooke asks immediately after they get settled in the car. "Do what?" "Why'd you tell Cole that?" Brooke glares at Stephanie. Stephanie shrugs smirking. "I don't know. Just wanted him to know the truth, I guess." "Truth? What you exaggerated and FYI, nobody asked you for the truth," Brooke tells her gruffly. Stephanie bursts into laughter. "Payback is a bitch." "He'd think I'm head over heels for him," Brooke whines. "Aren't you? Suck it in," Stephanie retorts. "Bitch." Stephanie laughs, "You described yourself with the perfect word." Brooke narrows her eyes at her but starts smiling after some seconds. Stephanie's laugh is contagious. Then she remembers something and frowns. "Why did you run off in the morning?" Brooke inquires. "Run off? I didn't run off, I had to get to class." Stephanie scoffs. "Oh don't bullshit me, Steph. That's exactly what you did on Saturday." "No. It wasn't. I didn't wanna talk to him, ok
Chapter Sixteen: Brody! "Mum," Stephanie yells as she steps into the house. "I'm home." She saw her mum's car in the driveway so she's pretty sure she's home but she doesn't know about her dad. "I'm in here hun," her mum voices from the living room. She enters the living room to see her Mum reading a novel on the couch. "Hey, Sweetie. How was school?" Her mum asks. "Normal," she shrugs. "You wanna babysit?" "Really?" Her mum nods. "Sure. When? Who would I be babysitting?" Steph inquires. "Thursday and Friday after school. It's the daughter of my friend's neighbor," Her mum shrugs. "Okay, sure. I'm in. Would I go over or she'd be brought here?" Stephanie questions. "You'll be going there this time around. I'll get you the address." "Thanks. Where's Dad?" "He went out with some friends," she replies with her gaze still on the book. Stephanie nods and turns around to head to her room but hesitates. "Mum?" "Hmm." "What's going on?" Her mum sighs, clearly unhappy about
Chapter Seventeen: Detention Jason walks into a convenience store after school with the intent of buying potato chips. He's craving it seriously bad and there's none at home. He gets two packs. "Hi," a girlish voice says behind him. He turns around to see a blonde girl smiling at him. "Hey," Jason replies, returning the smile. She looks familiar. Very familiar, so he's trying to pinpoint where he knows her from. "Jason, right?" She asks. "Yeah," he looks at her thoughtfully before it clicks. Party, Chris, Piper. "You're Piper," he mutters. "Uh huh," her smile widens, happy to know that he finally recognizes her. It's a surprise to her that she didn't know him before and he is the best friend of the infamous Christopher Hayes she has been after. "How are you?" He inquires. "I'm good. You?" "Good too," Jason replies, shrugging. "Thanks for the other day," she smiles, appreciating him. "It was no big deal. You're welcome," she shrugs again. "Chris asked about you the next d
