Micha looked at the shocked faces of the people in front of him. He had been known as the hothead in the family so none of his family was surprised that these people had pushed him to far with their behaviors. His brothers were more surprised that he could stop himself from ripping the man in front of him to shreds or at least beat him till he was nothing more than pulp.
Micha could see the looks of confusion set in as they honestly knew how serious he was about getting rid of every single one of them. It was one thing to put the company in danger of a lawsuit but it was completely another to risk the life of someone because they were jealous or felt threatened by the fact his blinders had fallen off. The fact the person they targeted was Sophia made his blood boil in a way he didn’t completely understand but he did have a very good idea as to why.
He glanced back at the house she was in. &ldqu
Sophia went outside with Micha right behind her. She was mad now. She was furious as she could see all of the activity going on in the stables and in the circle. People were slightly wary of Micha at the moment she could see it in their eyes. She turned and looked at him and saw the murderous look he was giving everyone. She had to smile despite the seriousness of everything going on. Sophia looked at the hands in the stable getting up the hay that had been spread around as they were searching for more nails under the mat of hay. The horses were out in the pen and they were walking around. She spotted one that was also favoring one side more than the other. She pointed to it and one of Micha’s brothers took off to go check it out. When he got there it was plain to see the animal was in some pain. He carefully lifted the leg up and sure enough he was there trying to pull somethin
As the Vet and the woman by his side stood there with their mouths open Sophia started to the pen with Micha right behind her and Elise following behind. When they were out of ear shot Micha started to laugh. His deep voice filled the air. “Ma as much as I like you putting him in his place and her too did ya have to do it that way?”“I reckon it was the only way they would understand.” His mother replied as she looked over the pair in front of her. “Everyone knows I fight for mine.”“I know you do but Sophia ain’t one of yours yet.” Micha said as he looked at his mother standing there next to them as Sophia had gone over the fence and was in the pen already. She was intently hunting for the cows she had seen from afar.“Yes she is.” The older woman said as she looked at her son, “You just ain’t made it proper, yet.”M
“What?” he asked as he looked at her. He had never in his life heard that saying. He was more confused by her actions. He knew the nails didn’t react to smoke the way she had said. He was even more dumbfounded by the reaction of his sister and mother as they looked on with approval towards Sophia.“Micha yes we do.” She said. “If you got rats in the barn you move the traps but if you got a snake in there too. You get the snake near the rats and watch one problem go away. Right now we got a few snakes, a whole bunch of rats, and some biting insects all swarming in one place. Let them take care of each other before we really have to put in any effort.”“Oh.” Micha said as he looked on to the group and then back to the woman. “But the fire?”“Well if you lie make it a good one.” Sophia said with a smile. “I mean even for a second you believed me about the reaction.”&ld
Somewhere in the middle of everything Sophia lost sight of Micha as he continued to move around. The damage that was done was minimal to the animals. It would be a rather easy treatment plan. After everything was said and done there were only less than ten people who had not bee charged with something. They all looked relieved as well.“I didn’t think anyone would actually do something to you.” One of the women said as she walked up to Sophia. “I honestly thought it was their talk. You know how they are.”“I do.” Sophia said. “I am just glad that Micha listened.”Sophia walked away and smiled as she spotted him off to the side talking on the phone. He was smiling as he spoke. She thought that was slightly odd as to the situation that was playing out around them. People were glaring at her like it was her fault they were getting in trouble and not themselves. She only smiled back to
People were loading up their cars and shooting glares at everyone. He wasn’t surprised at how many people were really leaving. He had been on the phone with the airlines and left it open for the people to show up to be rebooked onto another flight which the company would pay for as they last piece of business with the company. He had been on the phone with his staff at the company as well.No one was really that surprised though by his actions and even more so the reaction to everything that had happened. It seemed everyone at the company knew what was really going on but him. The women on his team actually let out a sigh of relief when he had told them to draw up the different breach of contract terminations that were to be ready and posted by the time the people got back to the office. No one at the office minded the extra time in the office for this reason. He was finding out many more people had been affected by the a
When everything settled down for the night the food was now cooking outside over the fire and people were just in the circle talking about the surprise of the day’s events. It was time to unwind. Micha knew he needed to address the events of the day with the people but he couldn’t find the words anymore. His mind was still reeling from the idea that someone could be so idiotic that they thought any of this was a good idea. Sophia wasn’t by his side right now and he knew that was one of the reasons he was still feeling something wasn’t right. He looked around for her and couldn’t find her. His Ma walked over and looked him in the eye. “She is with the calf. Making sure they didn’t do anything to it. She has gone over the cows to make sure none of the are to damaged and the horses a few times.”“How do you do that ma?” Micha asked with a deep laugh. “You seem to know exactly wha
“In a few days I think I would like to take you out for a quick show off of the drive so you can see it for yourself.” Micha said with a sly smile.“You think I can’t handle it cowboy?” Sophia asked as they walked hand in hand to the circle to grab a plate of food. She went to sit on a haybale and then he joined her there as the others watched them interact. It seemed everyone was waiting and watching the pair. That was except for his family. They were ignoring the two of them knowing they had a long road ahead of them.“it ain’t that I don’t think you can handle it Cowgirl I think it is more after today I would like two days of rest with you by my side.” Micha laughed. “Call it a quick working retreat.”“You mean a retreat within a retreat?” Sophia laughed as she looked at him. She was almost done with her plate already. Though she hadn’t taken
Micha watched over her as she made one last round over the animals that were around to make sure none of them had picked up a stray nail and that the bandages were still on the ones who needed them. Though none of the animals were serious she felt so responsible they were hurt at all that it was written on her face. He could see nothing but true compassion there in her eyes and with her words to the animals who didn’t seem to mind her there in their space. He had never really seen someone who could set the animals at ease like she did. They just knew she was something different and she meant them no harm. It was easy to see she was born for this in ways. After discussing her family with him he also new much more about her. He could understand the way she was even more now. He also understood more than ever why she had remained alone. Though she had never actually said it the words were there. She had watched her mother go after other men prob

They settled in for the night, and all he could do was hold her close for the night. She understood why. He knew it was over, and all was good. He knew that she was safe there when she was in his arms. She wanted to be there as well. He looked a little more in peace. She watched him as closely as he watched her as closely. She knew that he was this way only because they were safe. He had to have her in his arms, and that was the only way for him to relax. He thought he had put them all in danger. She knew that was his biggest problem. He was now ready to accept that within himself. The time was going to go by quickly. The days would pass, and they went in the same direction. She went to work on the farm, and soon enough, they had another building put up within a few weeks of that fateful weekend. They knew that they were working for something that was still a new idea. He went to the building every day, and then he was abl
“Sophia, they had people there waiting in an underground bunker.” He said. “There were things in there that frankly were disturbing. The things they did to those people in the name of making their farm better. Actually, I have no idea what they were talking about when they were handcuffed. Nothing was making too much sense. However, they found other things in the house.” “What were they?” Sophia asked as she propped her elbows on the table and looked at him. She had forgotten about the food that was in front of her even though she was ravenous from all the work done during the day. “Sophia, you shouldn’t have this in your head,” Micha said as she looked at him, and then she changed the look. “Micha trust me that my imagination is worse than the truth so just spill it,” Sophia said as she looked at him. “They had people down in the bunker to help with the experiments that they were running,” Micha said as he looked at her. “Their sons, b
Micha sat at the table and began to dish out the food. As he watched Sophia go over the paperwork piece by piece as he got the food ready for them. “The records are in good order from all I can see. I will get them all digital this week.” “You can rest tomorrow.” He said, and she looked at him and shook her head. “Micha, I know you have been through a lot today, but we also just took on a bunch of animals I wasn’t planning on having. We still have a few months before we really have to think about prepping for the winter with all of them.” Sophia said. “I know you have things on your mind, but I have to do the planning.” “Baby, I know,” Micha said as he looked at her. “You have the animals to think about now. I get that I forgot how much I just added to your plate.” “That doesn’t matter to me. You should know that. I told you to get them all. I don’t even matter that you brought the birds back. I don’t think this has anyth
“What?” she asked as she looked at him. “I love you.” He said as he stood up and then kissed her. “I couldn’t have this dream come true without you.” “Well, Micha, our hobby farm just became a real one.” She said as he kissed him back, and then the two just stood there with her in front of him, leaning on his chest. “Ma will like it here now.” He laughed, and she laughed as well. “She did call it better than anyone else in the family. She knew that this was going to be our life as well.” “Of course it was going to be.” She replied as she laughed. “Micha, we were born to do this. We have your beef cows. We have milk cows. We have horses, alpacas, goats, and all those birds.” “No tot mention a few sheep.” He said. “Sheep?” she asked. “Surprise.” He replied as she was shaking her head. “Where are they?” she asked. “On their way here, not today.” He replied. “Micha Moran.” She said as she look
Micha was on his feet almost the entire day. The words from the old man as he looked at him still haunted him. He looked at his house and knew that the last transport truck was right behind him. He parked in the back of the house and then walked around the house to find his wife directing traffic like she was the ultimate supervisor. She was smiling at everyone and looking over the animals. She turned when he took a step onto the porch where she was at. “I thought I told you to stay inside.” He said as he looked at her. Then he looked at what was propped up on her leg, and he chuckled. “Of course, you would find a way to get around the one request I had for you.” “Micha, what is it?” She asked as she looked at his face. The lines were a little deeper as he looked at her. His head hurt. “They are sick,” Micha said. “I never thought I was really putting you in danger when I took you there last night. Sophia, you save
“I will be home as soon as I can, Baby.” He said as he hung up the phone and turned to see the man walkout. This time his wife was with him, who looked happy that the animals were being loaded up rather easily. “Here you go.” Mr. Hatchet said as he handed over a box full of records for every one of the animals. “I hope your lovely little wife likes them as much as we have.” “I am sure she will,” Micha said as he took the box of records and laid the cattle ones on the top. He walked up to his car, and that was when the cops that were behind him took the lead. He continued to the car, and then there was a rush of officers everywhere. He smiled to himself. Whatever they had seen was probably all they needed too. The Captain was there as well. He put out his hand to Micha at the top of the driveway. “We got them because of you and your wife. I can’t thank you enough.” “I don’t really know what you are talking about, but I am glad I co
Micha made a call to the transport company, and they were sending out another crew with two trucks to get everything loaded up quickly. When Micha explained the situation quickly and not very detailed, leaving the person on the other end of the phone to fill in the blanks, they agreed that getting there quickly and the animals removed quickly was the best thing. Micah was a good customer, and they knew that he would pay whatever they wanted without a quote, and he tipped really well as well. He knew that he had to make another call and he hoped she had her phone on her. When she picked up, “Micha?” “Hey Cowgirl. “he said. “So we got a few critters coming your way soon.” “What type of critters and how many do I have? So I can have every one ready for the delivery trucks.” Sophia said. “Don’t get mad at me.” He said. “You got everything, didn’t you?” She asked. “Not the pigs.” He replied. “Well, than
“Now, the fowl?” Micha asked, seemingly ignoring the man behind him. “We got three hundred chicken. Nine turkeys. Two emus. Five pea fowl and two pea cocks.” The older man said, knowing that Micha was showing him the respect as the seller by not responding to the men behind him. “And how much for the entire lot?” Micha asked. “I can have the money transferred in five minutes.” “How about a cool ten thousand for the entire lot of everything?” Mr. Hatchet said. “Eight thousand,” Micha said as his counter. “Deal.” The man said. “I will have the money in your account in a few minutes,” Micha said as he pulled out his phone and then transferred the money quickly. He already had the information he needed to transfer the money, and he hit send, and the other man got a notification. “We will have all the animals off the property tonight After the paperwork is given.” “Thank you very much.” The old man said. “I will be ba
