When the two woke up again it was still dark but morning. They knew to make sure Micha’s new plan for the people who worked for him they had to be ready and willing to do anything for the day. Neither of them cared to much about that. “I am finding that I don’t wish to get out of bed this morning,” Micha said into her ear as he just moved his arm to keep her pressed closed to him.

“But you see cowboy it is something you have to do. I mean you can’t keep me here all day in bed when we got people to show a lesson too.” Sophia said as she smiled to him over her shoulder. He chuckled at her very sorry copy of his accent but it was worth hearing on an

Sophia went to the stables which was a place that no matter where you went or on any farm or ranch was always the same. The layout might be slightly different but the day to day activities in it was the same. Sophia knew exactly what to do without being told where anything was. She smiled to herself and then began collecting the buckets from the stalls and then filling them up with either water or feed. She could see the ones that they had the more specialized diets for and though she didn’t know exactly what it was she could guess. She began hauling the water buckets to each stall and placing them in their holders on the wall. Each horse watched her closely as they knew this was a new person. She ran her hands down each one and smiled when the horses accepted her there. She went out and saw a group of very sleepy people being ro

Micha watched as the people all filled the area and they looked like they were already miserable. He was going to enjoy the next few days. The people there had no idea what he had planned. Though he knew he couldn’t outright fire them all he wanted to make their lives a living hell for the two weeks.“Alright people settle down,” Micha said as he raised his voice a bit. He glanced over to the stable and saw her walking around to go to the back pen probably to go check on the cow again. He smiled to himself and then looked at the people in front of him. None of them were dressed right for the day he had planned. Nice shirts and khakis were going to get ruined out here but he honestly didn’t care anymore. “We will be breaking down into smaller groups so your abilities can be tested. You will also be given a chore to do and you will have to learn it.

As breakfast was being doled out the people were still grumbling about being up at an ungodly hour. They also didn’t like the idea of being tested even though it made perfect sense to match them with the correct animal and tasks that they could do. Sophia listened as she was off to the side and she was not surprised even though she was disappointed in a way. These people really did need a wake up call on how life worked outside of the city.It was making her almost mad the way they kept going on and on about things they had no idea it was there in place for hundreds of years. They weren’t any less of people because they kept a certain way of life going. It was simple but hard. It was more rewarding to them to see the animals grow and be ready to wholesale for her it was watching the newer cows produce and whatnot. Micha and her came from the same coin just two sides

As the two walked over to the pen they both could feel the daggers being sent their way. Sophia couldn’t help but worry a bit about the outcome of pushing them to the brink but for now she had to focus on the calf. It was in the corner of the pen while it’s mother and twin were on the other side getting along great. “Your mom said not to try to bother getting the mother to accept the calf.”“She is right.” He said as he looked down at her. “I don’t know how it is on your type but if a mother rejects it at birth normally because it is a multiple or whatever it won’t ever. Just focus on your job as it’s adopted mother and I will figure out where we are going to put it.”“Micha I can have my father take it in for a bit.” Sophia said as she looked at him.

As he opened the door and nearly pushed her into the small building he closed the door behind him and locked the simple door handle. This building was hardly ever used unless it was the end of season. It wasn’t so he knew everything would be minimal in there and no one would be looking to get into it. He grinned in the low light of the room from the one old window pane. He looked at her as she turned to look at him.“Really Micha?” she asked as he closed the distance between them. She took a few steps back when he did close the distance and she found herself between a table and him.“Well I like the way you think.” He said softly as he untied the bottom of the outer shirt she was wearing and let it drop to the floor. He then had the hem of her tank top in his hands. He kissed her quickly and then as he broke away from her she found herself without a top o

Sophia followed him as they both stopped and looked at the small group that was in the main ring. The two looked at the people they called co-workers at the moment and they looked at each other and shook their heads. That was when they spotted another group being told how to muck out the stalls as the horses were being turned out for the day. Sophia smiled as she saw her horse while she was there at least. He was at the fence waiting for some attention from her as he whined rather loudly.“Looks like I will have to have enough room for him to come along too.” Micha laughed as he watched the horse pace back and forth as she got nearer to the fence. The horse roared as he bucked onto two hooves to show her she was taking to long to get to him.“Another impatient male to deal with.” Sophia said and he roared with laughter. As she got to the fence the horse began t

Sophia looked up to him and smiled as he kept his hand on her back as he looked at the people in front of him and around the ranch with utter disdain. He couldn’t believe the amount of gall some of these people still had. Though now he had some more pressing things to do for the day. She surprised him by saying that so openly in front of everyone but he knew she was really saving herself. They would have to iron out the kinks in the relationship but people like them had often started with less then the two had.He could think on the fact his parents had only known each other two weeks both their parents thought it was a great idea for the two to get hitched. They settled in for the night, and all he could do was hold her close for the night. She understood why. He knew it was over, and all was good. He knew that she was safe there when she was in his arms. She wanted to be there as well. He looked a little more in peace. She watched him as closely as he watched her as closely. She knew that he was this way only because they were safe. He had to have her in his arms, and that was the only way for him to relax. He thought he had put them all in danger. She knew that was his biggest problem. He was now ready to accept that within himself. The time was going to go by quickly. The days would pass, and they went in the same direction. She went to work on the farm, and soon enough, they had another building put up within a few weeks of that fateful weekend. They knew that they were working for something that was still a new idea. He went to the building every day, and then he was abl

“Sophia, they had people there waiting in an underground bunker.” He said. “There were things in there that frankly were disturbing. The things they did to those people in the name of making their farm better. Actually, I have no idea what they were talking about when they were handcuffed. Nothing was making too much sense. However, they found other things in the house.” “What were they?” Sophia asked as she propped her elbows on the table and looked at him. She had forgotten about the food that was in front of her even though she was ravenous from all the work done during the day. “Sophia, you shouldn’t have this in your head,” Micha said as she looked at him, and then she changed the look. “Micha trust me that my imagination is worse than the truth so just spill it,” Sophia said as she looked at him. “They had people down in the bunker to help with the experiments that they were running,” Micha said as he looked at her. “Their sons, b

Micha sat at the table and began to dish out the food. As he watched Sophia go over the paperwork piece by piece as he got the food ready for them. “The records are in good order from all I can see. I will get them all digital this week.” “You can rest tomorrow.” He said, and she looked at him and shook her head. “Micha, I know you have been through a lot today, but we also just took on a bunch of animals I wasn’t planning on having. We still have a few months before we really have to think about prepping for the winter with all of them.” Sophia said. “I know you have things on your mind, but I have to do the planning.” “Baby, I know,” Micha said as he looked at her. “You have the animals to think about now. I get that I forgot how much I just added to your plate.” “That doesn’t matter to me. You should know that. I told you to get them all. I don’t even matter that you brought the birds back. I don’t think this has anyth

“What?” she asked as she looked at him. “I love you.” He said as he stood up and then kissed her. “I couldn’t have this dream come true without you.” “Well, Micha, our hobby farm just became a real one.” She said as he kissed him back, and then the two just stood there with her in front of him, leaning on his chest. “Ma will like it here now.” He laughed, and she laughed as well. “She did call it better than anyone else in the family. She knew that this was going to be our life as well.” “Of course it was going to be.” She replied as she laughed. “Micha, we were born to do this. We have your beef cows. We have milk cows. We have horses, alpacas, goats, and all those birds.” “No tot mention a few sheep.” He said. “Sheep?” she asked. “Surprise.” He replied as she was shaking her head. “Where are they?” she asked. “On their way here, not today.” He replied. “Micha Moran.” She said as she look

Micha was on his feet almost the entire day. The words from the old man as he looked at him still haunted him. He looked at his house and knew that the last transport truck was right behind him. He parked in the back of the house and then walked around the house to find his wife directing traffic like she was the ultimate supervisor. She was smiling at everyone and looking over the animals. She turned when he took a step onto the porch where she was at. “I thought I told you to stay inside.” He said as he looked at her. Then he looked at what was propped up on her leg, and he chuckled. “Of course, you would find a way to get around the one request I had for you.” “Micha, what is it?” She asked as she looked at his face. The lines were a little deeper as he looked at her. His head hurt. “They are sick,” Micha said. “I never thought I was really putting you in danger when I took you there last night. Sophia, you save

“I will be home as soon as I can, Baby.” He said as he hung up the phone and turned to see the man walkout. This time his wife was with him, who looked happy that the animals were being loaded up rather easily. “Here you go.” Mr. Hatchet said as he handed over a box full of records for every one of the animals. “I hope your lovely little wife likes them as much as we have.” “I am sure she will,” Micha said as he took the box of records and laid the cattle ones on the top. He walked up to his car, and that was when the cops that were behind him took the lead. He continued to the car, and then there was a rush of officers everywhere. He smiled to himself. Whatever they had seen was probably all they needed too. The Captain was there as well. He put out his hand to Micha at the top of the driveway. “We got them because of you and your wife. I can’t thank you enough.” “I don’t really know what you are talking about, but I am glad I co

Micha made a call to the transport company, and they were sending out another crew with two trucks to get everything loaded up quickly. When Micha explained the situation quickly and not very detailed, leaving the person on the other end of the phone to fill in the blanks, they agreed that getting there quickly and the animals removed quickly was the best thing. Micah was a good customer, and they knew that he would pay whatever they wanted without a quote, and he tipped really well as well. He knew that he had to make another call and he hoped she had her phone on her. When she picked up, “Micha?” “Hey Cowgirl. “he said. “So we got a few critters coming your way soon.” “What type of critters and how many do I have? So I can have every one ready for the delivery trucks.” Sophia said. “Don’t get mad at me.” He said. “You got everything, didn’t you?” She asked. “Not the pigs.” He replied. “Well, than

“Now, the fowl?” Micha asked, seemingly ignoring the man behind him. “We got three hundred chicken. Nine turkeys. Two emus. Five pea fowl and two pea cocks.” The older man said, knowing that Micha was showing him the respect as the seller by not responding to the men behind him. “And how much for the entire lot?” Micha asked. “I can have the money transferred in five minutes.” “How about a cool ten thousand for the entire lot of everything?” Mr. Hatchet said. “Eight thousand,” Micha said as his counter. “Deal.” The man said. “I will have the money in your account in a few minutes,” Micha said as he pulled out his phone and then transferred the money quickly. He already had the information he needed to transfer the money, and he hit send, and the other man got a notification. “We will have all the animals off the property tonight After the paperwork is given.” “Thank you very much.” The old man said. “I will be ba
