Xander is so swoon-worthy!
I’m so happy that I chose the Ferris wheel to ask Maeve to marry me. I knew the minute she realized where we were going that it was the right choice. Her excitement was contagious. When we move to get on the Ferris wheel, I pass the guy some money and tell him that I’m proposing to my girl at the top and can he stop the wheel for just a couple of minutes when we get there. He agrees and it is absolutely perfect. I feel the wheel slowing down, Maeve has tucked her body against mine and I have my arm wrapped around her, so we were already close when I pulled the ring out of my pocket and asked her. “Xander…” Her hand reaches out tentatively without touching the ring before she looks up at me. “Why? I don’t understand.” “I’ve been researching the wedding ceremony for humans and they have this engagement thing. I guess because humans can’t physically mark their mates, they give them a symbol to show that they are claimed. I wanted you to understand how very serious I am about you. I t
When a girl dreams of the perfect engagement, she dreams of the night that Xander just gave me. Or at least, I did. I got the perfect dinner, with the perfect ring, given to me at the perfect place by the most incredible, perfect man in existence. It sounds absolutely crazy, I’ve only known him a few weeks, but I am absolutely in love with this man. Like crazy, stupid in love. Crazy enough that I’m willing to bring Meadow and Tate home, knowing that he will help me keep them safe. When we get back to the penthouse, I don’t even question it, I just go with him into his room. He gives me a nightshirt to sleep in that smells like him, making my mouth water. When we get in bed, he curls around me, but I can’t sleep. I turn in his arms, wanting him to kiss me like he did earlier, not ready for this night to end. He leans over me and I run my fingers through his silky blond curls. Everything about this man, his scent, his taste, everything about him, draws me in. I don’t know how long w
I could have stayed between Maeve’s thighs for the rest of my life. Her sweet taste, her mewls and moans of pleasure and the sound of her screaming my name made me find my own release more than once. The only thing better than tasting my mate, is waking up beside, my scent all over her. Last night was beyond perfect. She accepted me as her mate, or at least, as her fiancé. She’s wearing the human version of my claim on her finger and hopefully soon she’ll be wearing my mark on her neck so every human AND every werewolf will know that she’s claimed. And if all of that wasn’t enough, she finally trusts me enough to bring Meadow and Tate home. She’s still sound asleep beside me, but I know that she needs to get up. Her shop has been ridiculously busy this week. I know she’s not going to return with me to the pack to deal with Gwen. I really want her there with me, but I also know that she needs to be there for her shop patrons. It does make me think about our future. If we are able to
Xander had to leave. He promised to be back as soon as he could and told me he’d let me know if his father found out anything about Meadow and Tate. When I step out of the penthouse, Jesse is standing there waiting for me. “Hey Jesse,” I say, locking up before heading to the elevator. “Good morning, Maeve.” He pushes the button for the elevator. “Just so you know, Alpha Liam put the entire team on alert for your siblings. We’ll find them.” I turn and look at him. “The entire team?” I ask. “Yes, if your sister and brother are running from someone, or if the worst has happened and someone has them, our team members all over the country are on alert and will be looking for them. There is also someone in the area where they were last seen that has started trying to find them.” “Thanks Jesse.” “Anything I need to know for today? I’ll be in the shop with you, just in case anything happens.” “No, it’s been busy and I do have a real witch coming by today to pick up a potion. Other th
I take Tate’s hand and pull him behind me as we move quietly through the night. Two days ago, when we were moving to the next hotel, I saw them. The Whitmore brothers. Levana was stupid to send them after us, they stand out in a crowd. They are huge and they look like goons. Even out here in the wild west, they look more like outlaws from the old western movies than the good guys. And somehow, they had found us. “Do you think it’s our phones?” Tate had asked me. “I don’t know but if we get rid of them, we won’t be able to contact Maeve.” “Send her a text now and then we can ditch the phones.” I had tried, but the area we were in had spotty wifi and in the end, I just had to ditch the phones. Tate and I had hid and sure enough, it was the phones that had somehow drawn them to us. “Spell.” I said quietly as Tate and I snuck away. They had used a spell to find our phones. “Where are we going to go?” “I don’t know, but we have to move. Fast. If they found a way to hook into our bu
I had intended to head back to the city after Emlyn killed Gwen, but Rich said there was a meeting the next morning and he wanted me to stay, just in case. When I called Maeve, I got her voicemail. Later that night, I heard from my father about what had happened. I was nearly out the door then, but he said that he, my mother and Jesse were staying at the penthouse and would keep Maeve safe. As soon as the meeting this morning was over and Rich let me know he wanted me to find out what I could from Maeve about the unrest with the witches, I was in the car heading back to the city. When I get to the penthouse, I burst through the door, causing Jesse to fly to his feet. A moment later, he’s relaxing again seeing that it's me. Maeve comes rushing into the room, her hair a mess and her eyes swollen from crying. Damnit, I should have been here. “Maeve,” I say, rushing to her and pulling her against me as she begins to cry again. I lift her up, carrying her back to the bedroom where I s
I wake to warm hands rubbing over my arm and a purring vibration against my back. “Maeve?” Xander’s quiet voice says in my ear. “Mmm, yes?” “My parents are almost here with your siblings. Did you want to go downstairs to greet them?” I’m out of bed before he finishes talking. “Oh my gosh, yes. What time is it?” I say, looking around the room, realizing that I’m in Xander’s bedroom. “I don’t have any clothes in here.” “Your bags are right there,” he points to the bags by the door before heading to the closet. “We’ll move the rest of your things in here today or tomorrow. I quickly get dressed, brush my teeth and hair, realizing that my hair is a disaster and pulling it into a ponytail. When I step out, Xander is once again looking like a fashion model. “How do you do that?” “Do what?” he frowns, looking down at himself. “Always look like you just walked out of a fashion magazine?” I ask, heading for the door. “Good genetics,” he says, taking my hand. “Are they here yet?” I a
I walk Maeve to Rich’s office. I don’t know if Rich wants to meet with her alone but I don’t care, she’s my mate. Now that he’s getting things figured out with his mate, he needs to know that I’m going to step in if he has a problem with Maeve. Not surprisingly, Rich wants to know about the witches. “Have a seat, both of you,” Rich says, looking at me. ‘We need to talk. Soon,’ he says to me in the mind link. I nod before sitting next to Maeve. “Tell me about the witches. Xander said you heard they are moving against the wolves.” “Yes Alpha. I’m not exactly sure, but I know that the coven leader, Levana, was working with a wolf, possibly Alpha Wyatt. The woman who gained that information was murdered and then they came after me because they thought she had told me about it.” “How do you know Levana?” he asks her. “My parents belonged to her coven, but they left when she started dabbling in dark magic. Since then, her magic has gotten darker,” Maeve says. “How do you know?” Rich
