The Task

Chapter Thirteen 

I still can't believe from what I have found out between Mandy and Liam, when will the magic love spells will last? I remember my Aunt Salina said to me it will be last if they feel love for each other is that true love? I just sighed and looked out of nowhere. It never seemed to cross my mind what our professor was teaching in the chemistry subject and I never saw Mandy attend the class. 

After the class Andy and I headed to the principal's office, we both didn't have any idea why the principal wanted to talk with us. We knocked three times before entering the office. Slowly we went inside with heads bowed fearing that we had done something wrong.  

"Andy, Thana takes a seat." 

 We looked up when we heard the voice of our professor Mr. Badeau. To my surprise, I glance at Andy looking for an answer to why we are here. 

I scanned the inside of the office. Tables and chairs are furnished and polished on the right side of the room are the bookshelves containing different kinds of books, the windows are made of expensive glass. The center table is exclusively for our principal. She looks weird to me and her eyes are sharp just like the guy that I danced with within a Prom.

We walk towards the other side of the office where the long table is placed with chairs around on it. Mr. Badeau sat on the aisles beside Mrs. Gray the principal of the St. Claire Academy, Andy and I sat at the right side, I breathed heavily and wondered why we were here? 

"I called you here because the two of you are the smartest in this Academy." Mrs. Gray started the conversation. 

I just bowed my head and I can't accept that I'm one of the smartest students. It's just because of my magic. But, I study my lessons for good and not all of that because I am smart. The other thing is that it's because of my magic. 

"Do you agree with me Mr. Badeau?" 

"Yes, definitely no wonder…. They are good in my class." 

Andy and I just look at each other and we both feel nervous. What they are planning with us or do they have something to ask a favour? 

"Okay, then… Andy, Thana, both of you are the smartest in my class." Mr. Badeau stated, smiling at both of us with Andy.

Mrs. Gray and I decided that the two of you will handle the two students of the St. Claire Academy that are failing their grades… Especially to my class." 

"What?"

Andy's eyes almost widened in shock at what he heard. I just glanced at him and I was too confused about what they wanted to happen. I can't think that I will be handling a student who has a failed grade. No… I will not do that over my witch dead body. 

"Well, this is not a favour if you think that way it's a task that I assigned to both of you as the principal of this school."

Her voice is so commanding and her eyes promptly looking at us raising her eyebrows. 

We are both quiet and waiting for another word that she will say, we don't have the right to confess as she stated this is not a favour, this is the task that she and Mr. Badeau assigned to me and to Andy. 

"Okay,  Lucas Anderson and Selena Smith are the two students that you will handle, for them to make it to the finals… and I'm counting on both of you." 

Mr. Badeau taps our shoulders saying that I and Andy can make it. 

"Lucas Anderson and Selena Smith are one of the richest families and both of their parents give so many funds to our school… I hope there will be no problem with that… Okay?" 

"Yes, Ma'am." Andy and I answered her. 

We walk out of the room and it seems nothing to us. Andy just laughs and can't be able to believe what Mrs. Gray wanted to happen to us. 

"Oh, I can't believe this…How is it possible that we can help those two brats to make it to the finals? Are there private tutors? 

" I don't have an idea, I don't know how it works and I think I can't make it. "

" Okay, let's handle it and make it happen okay?" 

Andy smiled at me and shouldered me as we walked. I never thought that Lucas is one of the richest here in the St. Claire Academy. Now I understand why he acted that way and every girl at St. Claire Academy wanted him to be their girlfriend. I just sighed and breathed heavily. It was so stressful for me and to think about what happened last night when Mia and I went to his place, I can't face him. I need to do something to avoid him. 

We continued to walk outside of the campus, but, to my surprise, Andy pulled me and pointed to the car park of the school. I was stunned by what I saw of Mandy with Victoria and with her friends. To my astonishment, I was wondering how it was happening. I thought Mandy didn't like Victoria. So does it mean that Mandy doesn't want to be in our company, she found new friends or just because of Liam? 

"What do you think she is doing?" Andy asked me. 

"I don't know, well, I don't have an idea. But, I think I can find what it is?" 

"Oh, how?" 

"Believe me because I'm a wit… c…. I mean I just can do it." 

"You're what? Andy seems to be interested in what I've said. 

" Nothing, just forget what I have said. "

I call Mia with the use of my power and commands her to follow Mandy and find out what is happening with her. 

"Okay, so what are we gonna do?" 

"About?" 

"Oh, we just came from the Mrs. Gray office, you forgot it?" 

"Oh, no… No… I haven't forgotten about that."

I just smiled at Andy and continued walking towards the outside of the campus. Suddenly Andy grasps my hands and looks too serious. 

"Why?" 

"We have something to do…" 

"What is it?" 

"We need to choose between Lucas and Selena."

"Okay."

"Okay…. So, I will handle Selena and you're the one who will handle Lucas." 

I just shook my head from what Andy said, I can't face Lucas. So unfair he should let me choose first before he chooses Selena. 

"No way… I will handle Selena and you will handle Lucas" I insisted to Andy. 

"Okay, let's toss a coin." 

"Hmm… Okay, no problem." 

"Head or tail?" 

"Tail" 

"Okay, head for me." 

Andy tosses a coin and throws the coin in the air. 

"The moment of truth is here." Andy smiles at me when he is opening his hands. 

"Lucky for you Thana, Lucas is yours." 

"What?" I was stunned by what Andy said. 

"It's a head, and I won, Selena is with me now." 

Andy almost danced and he left me in the hallway of the campus wishing me good luck with Lucas. 

"Good luck Thana, see you tomorrow."

He waves goodbye to me and hurriedly gets inside his car. I am almost depressed. I can't really face Lucas, it's like I remember everything on the night that I've seen him naked. I can't imagine how I will talk to him. 

I went straight to my room and started to write notes that I needed for tomorrow for the first tutorial class with Lucas. It's so depressing and stressful to me. I look at the window of my room thinking how I will avoid Lucas. My mind is sinful, I always imagine Lucas on the night I have seen him with no covering on his body. Is it on my mind or I have just too cared about it? 

This kind of feeling is forbidden to all the witches. I was startled when Mia just appeared in my sight. 

"Oh, my…!!!! Mia, you startled me…" 

"I am sorry to interrupt what you are Imagining." 

"Oh, I'm not Imagining, I'm thinking."  

"Well, whatever you will say, I'm on it." 

"What have you found out?" 

Mia held my head to show me what happened for the hours she followed Mandy. I cannot believe from what I have seen how could Mandy do those things, she was so humiliated

by Liam and Victoria is a bad influence on her. I never thought that Mandy would do that. Drinking too much, taking cigarettes and having sex with Liam. 

It can't be true that Mandy is not the kind of woman that I used to know, I should do something to take away the spell from them.
