Everyone’s looking at the best looking couple of the night. Perhaps, Yves draws more attention than her but Zofi doesn’t mind at all. She too is mesmerized and proud to be his date among the many other girls in the office that he could ask to accompany him for the event.

“Do you know everyone in the company?” Yves asked to start the conversation.

“Not yet. I joined just recently. I haven’t had a lot of opportunities to meet everyone,” Zofi said.

“I just asked because truth is, even us in our department don’t know everyone who’s working there or who transferred in or out. The other day, one of our tenured colleagues was asking for someone who already left the company,” he said. Yves is a good talker.

“Your department must be very busy that’s why people there don’t know much about even their closest colleagues,” she said.

“Exactly. That’s why instead of bringing them to the beach or somewhere else, I decided to hold a social gathering for us. It’s also a chance to meet our collea

There are moments that one can wish will happen over and over again. They remember every precious second of it and the more they think about it, the more the moment gets better.Zofi stands still but her body is shaking. That magical moment happened just a few seconds ago and she's already repeating it in her head a couple of times or even more. Seeing Billie in his black polo that accentuates the now manly feature of his face, makes her feel proud just knowing that this guy calls her his girlfriend. But she knows that it is just icing on the cake. There’s more to him than his pretty face.“Are you really here. Is that you?” she asked as if she saw an apparition only he is in black.“Come closer so you will know,” Billie said.“I can’t move from here,” she said.Billie walks to her and he gets more and more handsome the closer he comes near to her.“You’re so beautiful, Zofi. Am I the luckiest guy in the world to be your boyfriend?” he said. They embrace like they are the only

It’s one of those days when they know it’s already morning but it’s still weekend and so they stay in bed a little longer.“Zofi…,” Billie called her tenderly. She tried to answer but she only made a lazy sound. She even tightened her embrace and continues to sleep with her face at the back of his head.“It’s a big bed. We are not on a couch,” Billie said though he actually likes the way she sleeps.“What time is it?” she finally said something.“I think it’s already late in the morning,” he said.He turned around to kiss her once then twice.“That’s our….oh I lost count of our kisses,” she said.Billie could stop smiling. They’re no longer young but Zofi tries to catch up on doing sweet things with him like any new young couple would do.“Have you decided what you want to do today?” she asked.“I told you, I just want to spend the day with you,” he said. She looks at him tenderly while capping his face.“You really missed me,” he said.“I knew you could tell,” she said.“You’re on

Zofi looks around. Everyone’s eyes are on her. “Tantantanan…tantantanan…” her teammates hummed to the tune of a bridal march.“What’s with the bridal march? Who got married?” she asked.“Who got married?” Julia repeated what she said in a tiny voice.Everyone laughs. The all-girl squad is obviously in a good mood.“What happened when I was away yesterday?” she repeated her question.“Tell us the truth. You got married over the weekend?” Julia asked.Zofi’s eyes got big upon hearing the question. “Are you kidding? Where did you get that news?” she asked Julia.“It came from someone in human resources. They saw you and Billie last Sunday and they were told that you two were married couple,” Julia said.“I’m telling you, it’s not true. Billie’s visit happened a little earlier and we certainly missed each other but we were not that crazy to get married over the weekend. And where could we possibly go to get married during weekend?” Zofi said.“Hmmm…that made sense,” Lizzie said.“

“His full first name is Gerardo. He is his father’s junior so it makes sense if he wants to be called either Gerard or Jiro,” Jaja, the human resources manager said.“I didn't know that's his real first name. He only went by the name ‘Jiro’ when we were colleagues. Even his emails showed it as his name,” Zofi explained.“That could be possible. How long have you been colleagues?” Yves asked.“Just a couple of months. I stopped working in that company because of the rumors circulating about us,” Zofi said.“What were they saying the two of you? We have to know as well,” Jaja asked.Lizzie listens attentively to the conversation.“They were saying that I was dating him,” Zofi said.“And that wasn’t true at all?” Jaja asked.“I would go out with him for coffee. I was very nice to him because I didn't want him to be alone. I thought people in the office were ganging up on him for reasons no one would ever tell me until it went that far already," Zofi said."And how did you find out? D

It’s so unbelievable how happy moments could turn into scary ones in just a blink of an eye. And the way these ugly moments linger seems to be longer than that of beautiful moments and they could even produce a domino effect impacting almost everyone around the people involved.Zofi calls Billie on the phone. She tried messaging him earlier but he was still offline. The attempted phone calls turned out unsuccessful too.“He must still be sleeping or he's with his relatives or still figuring out his connections,” she told herself while thinking of reasons why he was unreachable. She looks around her room. Her door is locked and her windows are only partially open. Before coming inside the room, she made sure the unit’s main door was properly locked.“I’m going crazy. I hate this feeling,” she said.Without Billie, there’s really no one else she could open up to for really serious matters like this. Her officemates are nice people but they are still very far from being that kind of

Julia walked fast to the exit of the building and almost runs away from there. The amount of hate she poured out to Zofi was too much, it also consumed her. Across the street, Jiro stands at the sidewalk waving at her. “Hey, you seem to be in a hurry. Are you going on some party tonight?” he asked as soon as she crossed the street.Julia looked at him for a few seconds. She knew he’s trying to get some information from her.“No. There’s no party tonight. I am hurrying because I was the only one left in our area,” she said.“All your teammates are already out by now?” he asked.“Yeah. I better go now. Happy weekend,” she said fast and left him without looking back. She really has no plan to go somewhere but her feet seem to know where to take her.The arcade is always expected to be full of kids and young adults starting Friday afternoon. She went back there to pass the time before heading home.Unexpectedly, someone recognized her.“Julia,” Paul called her.In the office, Zo

Now, everything seemed to have turned to the opposite direction.Saatchi is the last person she will ever want to contact even now that there is crisis involving Billie.“Uncle, this Zofi. I’m Billie’s girlfriend. I would like to know what is going with him there,” she asked Billie’s uncle on the phone.“Zofi? “Zofi, is that you? Is that really you?” Billie asked. He almost ran to her as soon as he saw her enter the wedding reception venue.“Oh my goodness, Billie! Yes, this is me! Why are you here? When did you arrive?” Zofi asked too.“I flew in just last night. I didn’t know you would be here,” he said.“Aren’t you happy to see me here today?” she said.“Of course not, I’m so happy to see you. Can’t you see it on my face?” he said.Zofi smiled. She’s in complete disbelief herself. Billie’s the last person she expects to see in this wedding.“Had I known you’d be here, I’d have bought presents for you,” he said.“Who needs presents? The most important thing is we are here for our friend,” she said.“Did you really intend on attending this wedding?” he asked.“Both of us made a promise to her long time ago, right? I kept my promise,” she said.“I told her that I would be in her wedding to ensure that if anything went wrong, someone would dance with her,” he said.“All good then. I

I was hoping it would be at night,” he said.“I want to rest a bit before the next flight,” she said.Billie looks away and stays focused there.“What is it?” she asked. He shakes his head while trying to hide the sadness in his eyes with a fake smile.“You’re turning 29. We are both 29 now and one of us is already taken,” he said.Zofi understood what he meant.“It can’t be pushed back anymore this time,” he said.“Are you assuming that I am going to end up with him?” she asked bravely.“I know he’s not going to let you go,” he said seriously.“We are still getting to know more about each other,” she said nervo

Zofi and Luke catch their breath upon reaching the entrance of the restaurant. “We should freshen up first before we meet them. I’m getting ready for a full lecture from my mother so you should be ready to,” she told Luke. “Maybe if we looked haggard she would be more understanding,” he said. “You don’t know her. Go wash your face first,” she said. Hundreds of thoughts come running in Zofi’s head. Explaining how they lost Danica is a big challenge. “Ready?” she asked Luke as he came out of the men’s room. The two walk slowly to their reserved table. Contrary to what they thought, her mother is in high spirit. Danica looks like she’s happy too. There’s no hint of what happened in the early part of the day. The two look at each other. Are they coming with friends?” Natalie asked.Zofi looked at her for a moment then began thinking.“I was busy and just went ahead and looked for a bigger one. Billie waits a little anxiously in the living room of a modest home. The moment brings him back to his very first date in high school where Zofi arranged him and Cindy together to prove to all the mean girls in school that anyone deserved to attend the prom.“I’m impressed, Billie. You are impressive,” Auntie Tessa said while looking so delighted at the flowers he gave her.“Thank you, Auntie, but what did I do that impressed you?” he asked.“This and you coming here to pick up my niece and go on a proper date. I never imagined these things could still be possible these days. Most of the guys who wanted to date her would simply ask her to meet them somewhere,” she said.“I'm an old school kind of guy,” he said.“And I appreciate old school. You already have my approval,” she said.“Auntie, we are still getting to know each other. Don’t scare him,” Lena said. She silently walked in to the living room.“Good afternoon, Lena.
