Two weeks have passed since I was shot, meeting Kelly. I'm at full recovery and dressed up in my dress pants and button down shirt, tucked into my pants. I have to wear men's clothes because of my broad body build.
I had a bouquet of flowers, walking in the hospital. I bump into Claire and her jaw drops at the sight of me. "She is going to drool when she sees you," she says with a smile, walking around me, checking me out.
"Where is she," I ask softly as she stops in front of me.
"Her office, three doors down on your left," she says pointing behind her.
She walks with me and I knock on her door. "Not now please," she chokes, calling through the closed door.
Moments later my phone rings and it was Kelly. I answer it and say in a soothing whisper, "Open your office door. I'm here."
She stays on the line and opens the door with haste. I end the call, putting my phone in my pocket as she flies into my arms. Claire takes the flowers from me before I drop them and I take Kelly in a comforting hug. Claire takes Kelly's phone and places it and the flowers on her desk before leaving us alone in privacy.
I guide her back into her office and close the door. She lets out a calming breath and I rub her back in comfort. Something was bothering her and I was going to wait for her to say something first. I didn't want to further upset her than she already was.
Someone else was knocking at her door and she sighs in disappointment. She steps away from me and opens the door, sniffling. "Oh, sweetheart," an older woman in a pencil skirt says in sympathy. "I just got a call from your mother. I'm so sorry for your loss."
"Thank you Joyce," she says in a choked whisper, hugging the other woman. "I was about to leave."
"I hope you're not driving in your condition," she says softly.
"I can drive her home," I say softly as Joyce jumps back from Kelly in surprise. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"I didn't realize she had company," she says with her hand to her chest. "Have we met?"
"Jennifer Williams," I say softly, shaking her hand. "I was going to surprise her, but didn't realize it was bad timing."
"This is the Jennifer you told me about," Joyce asks with surprise.
"Yes," Kelly chokes quietly, coming back in my arms. "Can you take me to my parents house please?"
"Of course, grab whatever you need," I say softly and kiss her forehead.
She grabs her phone and the flowers I brought and chokes quietly, "They're beautiful, thank you."
"I came to ask you to that dinner I promised when I made full recovery," I say softly and she smiles lightly. "I understand that won't happen anytime soon. I'm sorry for your loss."
"My sister was killed in action, in Iraq. She was due to come home tomorrow and wanted to meet you," she chokes quietly, lower lip trembling.
"Her name was Jamie," I ask softly and she nods vigorously, coming in my arms. "I served with her a few years ago, before I became a cop. I was honorably discharged when I saved her life when her gun jammed. It's the four round scars on my chest and stomach."
She laughs through her sobs and I was confused. "Now I understand what she meant by seeing 'The iron goddess'."
"That's what everyone called me in our unit," I say with a laugh and tears fill my eyes. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to save her this time. She was like a sister to me over there."
"You don't have siblings," she asks in a choked whisper.
"My father took my older sister with him. Told my mother he didn't want her growing up with a freak. She died before we could meet as adults," I choke quietly.
"Your father is an asshole," she says wiping my eyes and I laugh. "Let's get out of here."
"Can we make a quick stop before your parents house? I thought maybe I could make you dinner tonight," I say softly as we walk out to my car.
"I'd like that, I'm sure my parents will enjoy it," she chokes with a smile.
When we get to my car I open her car door and she climbs in the passenger seat. Once she's in I close her door and get in the driver's seat. "Chivalry still lives," she says with a smile.
"My mother raised me to treat a woman with respect. She gave me a feminine name to protect me from people like my father, but raised me more like a man," I say quietly and she takes my hand from the center console.
"I'm happy to have met you. I haven't been this happy since before I met Katie," she chokes quietly.
"You don't have to worry about her anymore. My uncle is one of the judges and he gave her a long sentence without parole," I say in a protective whisper.
"Carrie wasn't joking when she said you'd protect those in your inner circle," she asks in a choked whisper.
"If it came down to it, I'd give up my last breath if it saved your life," I say quietly and kiss her fingers.
Tears roll down her cheeks and takes my hand in her lap. Her phone rings and she answers it in a choked whisper, "I'm with Jennifer...She was coming to surprise me about a date...We're coming over...Love you too."
I pull into the store a few minutes later and get out to open her door. She takes my hand and we head in to get some things for dinner at her parents house. She helped pick things out for the dinner and it seemed to help her calm down about her sister.
We were walking by the baby department of the store on our way to check out when she stops to look at one of the cribs on display. I step behind her as she looks down at the doll laid in the crib. "Were you and Jess ready for your daughter," she asks quietly as she brings my hand to her stomach.
"I never took down the nursery," I choke quietly.
She looks back at me as tears roll down my cheeks and turns in my arms to give me a hug. "Maybe we can make use of it," she says softly and I kiss the top of her head.
"Are you saying you want to move in with me before our first date," I ask with a laugh.
She laughs with me and meets my eyes. "My lease is about to expire. I've been looking for a bigger place and haven't been lucky. I really don't want to sign another two year lease," she says with a sigh and presses her forehead in my chest.
I lift her chin and she meets my eyes. "When does it expire," I ask softly and tears fill her eyes. "I have plenty of rooms, we don't have to share a room right away if your not comfortable."
"It runs out in two weeks," she chokes in a whisper, looking down in the crib again. "I don't want to be there for another reason. It's not something I want to talk about right now."
"I can have you moved in before then," I say softly, giving her a kiss.
I meet her eyes and she seemed completely distracted. I sweep my thumb over her bottom lip and her breaths hitch. "Jennifer," she says in a breathy whisper as she steps flushed against my front and her hands on my chest.
"Shhhhh," I say quietly and place my finger to her lips. "Let's leave the past in the past and focus on us. We both could use a fresh start."
When we got to her parents house she was calmed down. Her mother opened the front door as I was getting out to open her passenger door. She comes out to greet us and I grab the groceries for the back seat. Valerie looks at me confused and Kelly says softly, breathing in the scent of her flowers, "Jennifer offered to make us dinner tonight."
"You don't have to..."
"Please, I was going to cook for Kelly tonight. You and Victor can take this opportunity to learn more about me," I say softly and she nods after a moment.
"Do you remember how Jamie kept saying how she couldn't wait to get back home so she could see 'the iron goddess'," Kelly asks her mother as we walk inside and Valerie nods lightly. "She was talking about Jennifer."
We walk inside and Valerie calls for Victor. She comes to stand in front of me with tears in her eyes and asks in a choked whisper, "How did you know Jamie?"
I set down the groceries and unbutton my shirt. I point to the fresh scar on my stomach and say, "I got this one taking the bullet for Kelly." I point to the four older, similar scars and say in a choked whisper, "These four saved Jamie, five years ago when I toured with her in Iraq. Her gun jammed and I shielded her."
I hastily fasten my buttons with shaky hands and Kelly places her hands over mine. My breaths were coming in quick and shallow, like I was having some sort of anxiety attack. "Look at me Jennifer," she says in a soothing whisper and I meet her eyes. "Deep breaths, in and out slowly."
I close my eyes and did as she said. She fixes my buttons as my breaths calm down. She places a soft kiss on my lips when she's finished and I meet her eyes. "She was relieved when I told her we were testing waters. She told me I shouldn't let you slip from my grasp," she chokes with a smile.
"She's wrong, I'm the one who shouldn't let you slip from my grasp," I choke quietly. "All those women I told you I rejected, including Carrie, don't know about my condition. It's not something I broadcast. Not everyone is accepting like your family.
"Jamie walked in on my taking a shower in the middle of the night while the rest of the base was asleep. She saw everything and gave me the nickname. She was the only one who knew the real reason behind the nickname, everyone else just called me that because I did my workout in my uniform pants and a sports bra."
Kelly's cheeks redden and clears her throat. "What was it you were making for dinner," she asks quietly, taking a step away from me with her hands shoved in her pockets.
I laugh and say with a smile, "Spaghetti and homemade meatballs. You should change into some comfortable clothes.
"I still have some of Jess' maternity clothes. I didn't have the heart to get rid of anything. You're welcome to go through and pick what you want," I choke quietly and she looks down at the floor. "I'm sorry, I understand if you want me to leave."
She doesn't say anything and I look at her parents. They look at me with sympathy and tears roll down my cheeks. I take a step towards Kelly, hesitate and walk away. I got to my car before she called out to me. "Please don't go," she chokes quietly, taking my hand from behind me.
"I haven't talked about her since she died. I'm sorry she comes up a lot when I'm with you," I choke in a whisper and turn to face her. "I'll make sure her things are gone before you move in."
"I'm sorry," she chokes quietly coming in my arms. "I'd love to go through her clothes. Don't get rid of anything."
"I'll try not to talk about her as much. You just show a lot of similarities with your pregnancy that she went through," I choke quietly and she looks up at me as we walked back in her parents house. "You absentmindedly bring your hand to your stomach when you get lost in thought, just like she did. She said it was her way of getting the baby used to her touch so when she got upset her touch would calm her down."
She raises her hand to her stomach as tears roll down her cheeks and I wipe them away. "Today, in the store, I kissed you when you were getting emotional about your apartment. You got the same lost look in your eyes, as if for a moment nothing mattered," I say in a soothing whisper and give her a kiss.
"Kelly, did you get her to stay," Valerie asks as she walks in from the living room and Kelly breaks from the kiss. "I'm sorry if I interrupted your moment."
She places her forehead on my chest and lets out a sigh. "You're not the first to interrupt our moment," I say with a smile and Kelly groans. "Am I still able to make dinner tonight?"
"Kitchen is all yours," she says with a smile and leaves us alone in the foyer.
"Come, before she comes back," Kelly says with a laugh and leads me by the hand.
We enter the kitchen and together we get started on forming meatballs. I catch her eyeing me from the side and ask with a smile, "Is this turning you on or are you imagining me naked?"
"How did she put up with you with the raging hormones," she asks in a breathy whisper.
"She couldn't keep her hands off me," I say in a seductive whisper and she shutters next to me.
I place the meatballs in the oven and start working on making the garlic sauce for the garlic bread. Kelly stands to the side, watching my every move and her breaths hitch when I reach in her direction for the loaf of Italian bread. I cut the loaf in half, like a sub and spread the garlic sauce over both sides of the inner loaf.
I wrap it in foil and place it in the oven as well. I turn from the oven into a kiss from Kelly. Her arms wrap around my neck, holding me in the kiss. I bring my hands to her waist and she shutters against me.
"Jennifer, are you up to staying the night," Valerie asks as she enters the kitchen with Victor.
Kelly breaks away from me and storms out of the kitchen. I clear my throat, confused if I should go after her or not. She's showing similarities to Jess and when she stormed off, she needed time to cool off. "I'm sorry," Valerie chokes quietly. "She's been sensitive the last two weeks."
"I'm not sure what that was, she just...," I say quietly and run a hand in my hair. "Can you finish this? I'm sorry, I just want to make sure she's okay."
"Of course," Victor says with a light smile.
"Meatballs and garlic bread will be a half hour," I say softly and leave the kitchen to go find Kelly.
I follow the sound of her cries upstairs and behind a door with Jamie's name on the outside of it. I knock on the door and she chokes through the door, "Go away."
"Its Jennifer," I say softly and moments later she opens the door. "She feels bad for upsetting you."
"She's not why I stormed off," she chokes in broken sobs and sits down on the bed. "I can't control myself around you. These damn hormones are driving me crazy."
"I'm sorry. I wasn't making it easy for you in the kitchen. I was trying to make you aroused, just didn't realize how aroused I was making you," I say softly and sit on the bed next to her. "I'll stop if it's making you uncomfortable."
"Are you staying the night," she asks in a choked whisper, hugging her sister's stuffed bear to her chest, avoiding my eye contact.
"Only if you want me to," I say softly and she looks up at me with tears in her eyes.
"Please," she asks in a choked whisper, looking at me with pleading eyes.
I put my arm around her and she breaks into uncontrolled sobs. I rub her back in comfort and she turns her face into my chest. She holds onto me and the bear and I gently sway side to side for her to calm down. "I'll stay," I say in a soothing whisper and she lets out a calming breath.
We were sitting in the living room after dinner. I had grabbed the extra clothes from my car I leave in there incase I drink with my mother and stay the night with her. I went up to the guest room to change out of my dress clothes and into what I planned to sleep in for the night. A men's tank top, and a pair of shorts. When I came back down, Kelly couldn't keep her eyes off me. I had an extra set for her to wear that would be loose around her waist for the baby. I hand her the clothes and she looks at me confused."I'd feel better knowing you were wearing clothes that stretched over your forming bump," I say softly. "I'll take you to my place tomorrow. Jess should have clothes you can start wearing now.""You really care about her baby, don't you," Valerie asks softly."Yes," I choke in a whisper and look at her with tears in my eyes.I leave the clothes with Kelly and walk out to sit on the back patio. Their golden retriever, Ma
Kelly and I were sitting in Joyce's office, waiting for the DNA results to come back. She was wearing some clothes from Jess' closet. She decided to keep everything Jess had and save her other clothes after the baby was born. The outfit she chose to wear was making me feel aroused. She was wearing a low neck cut shirt that showed her cleavage and fit loose around her stomach. The pants she paired with the shirt had a stretchy band for her growing stomach and fit tight everywhere else.I was wearing a pair of jeans that were a little snug over my groin, if you catch my drift. I was wearing a tank top tucked into my jeans and a sports bra. I had a light hoodie on, but had to bunch it in my lap to hide my erection.I was finding it hard to sit with the tight restrain on my erection and stood up with my hoodie tied around my waist, covering my front. Kelly looks at me confused and I show her my problem before Joyce walked in with the results. Her
My mother and I were sitting with Kelly and her parents at Jamie's funeral. I was sitting near the aisle when a little girl, about two, climbs in my lap. "Dada," she murmurs in a tired whisper and falls asleep in my arms.Tears fill my eyes and I look around to see if someone was looking for her. A woman across the aisle was looking at the girl in my arms with her hand over her mouth. I get up and bring the child over to her. She looks behind me and says in a choked whisper, "I'm Monica, Kelly's cousin. I didn't know she was in a relationship since Katie?""We can talk after the funeral," I say quietly and she nods. She tries to take her daughter, but she holds onto my uniform. "Why don't I just place her in her car seat after this is over?"She nods lightly and says in a choked whisper, "You kind of look like her father. He was killed in Iraq a few months ago.""Kevin Jones," I ask quietly and she nods vigorously. Tears fill my eyes and say, "I fought wi
I came down for breakfast a few days later, dressed in uniform for work. Kelly was standing at the stove, making breakfast and I wrap around her back, caressing her stomach. She turns her head to give me a kiss and feeds me some bacon."Perfect," I say kissing her cheek. "Can I give you a ride to work?""I'd like that," she says with a smile.I help her bring breakfast to the table and she gives me a look over in my uniform. I undo some buttons, exposing the bulletproof vest and she gives me relieved eyes. I kiss her forehead and we eat the breakfast she made."What made you wear a vest," she asks with tears in her eyes.I caress her stomach and meet her eyes. "The three of you are my reason for wearing a bulletproof vest," I say softly and tears roll down her cheeks. I wipe her eyes and she lets out a calming breath. "Call me if you ever need me for anything."She nods lightly and I give her a kiss. Her phone rings and she answe
After learning that Cassie wasn't my daughter and that Jess had an affair, I got rid of everything that was hers. I took Kelly to get a whole new wardrobe for the pregnancy and donated the clothes from Jess. I even gave Valerie the wine collection Jess had.I took Kelly to pick out a guard dog when Joyce approved she could have one at work as long as it wore a police vest. Kelly decided to just do clinic work so the dog could be therapeutic to her patients. She was a German shepherd named Daisy and picked Kelly out of all the other people looking to adopt a guard dog.I was just finishing up putting on my uniform for work when Kelly came out of the closet. She walks up to me and adjusts my badge. I give her a kiss and her eyes meet mine. "Does that mean I'm forgiven," she asks in a choked whisper."I wasn't mad at you, just hurt finding out that a child I was mourning for two years wasn't mine. I'm sorry if I made you feel otherwise," I say softly, wiping
I woke to Grace crying in the middle of the night. I didn't hear Monica and carefully slip from under Kelly. I enter the nursery and Grace was standing up in the crib. Her cries stop the moment I enter the room and reaches her hands up towards me. I pick her from the crib and she nuzzles her face in my neck, her hands clutching my tank top.I sit in the rocker and gently rock the chair. I rub Grace's back gently and feel her relax against my chest. Her breaths slowed as she slowly fell back to sleep, but as soon as I stood up she whimpers. I go back to rocking and again she falls asleep.I go to lay her back in the crib and she holds onto me tight, whimpering. I go back to rocking, feeling myself grow tired. I close my eyes as I continue rocking and Grace lets out a content sigh.I wake to a kiss on my forehead from Kelly. Monica was also in the room and Grace was still asleep on my chest in the rocker. I rub my eyes and Grace sits up,
Two weeks passed since the hidden truth of Jessica's affair came to light when Cassie's father broke into my house. Daisy has been sleeping in our room since. Even as a cop and an ex-marine I'm scared to sleep after hearing he's had a key to get in all this time without my knowledge. Kelly has been stroking the scar on my abdomen every night to help me sleep. I find it soothing even when I start going into an anxiety attack. Carrie had to bring me to her the other day in the middle of a shift. A suspect we were arresting knew about Kelly and threatened to kill her if he got out of jail. Even though Jess cheated on me and Cassie wasn't mine, having the thought of losing Kelly and the twins scared me more than anything. Carrie and I were granted permission to shadow her at the hospital until the suspect has his sentence hearing. So far in two days six people have tried to harm her and failed. I have taken down each attacker and each time Kelly's breaths hitch.&nb
It's been a couple weeks since Carrie moved into the guest room. It's been fun with her around. Both of them are now distracted by my body. I could be cooking at the stove and hear them gasp when I need to lean down to check in the oven. They even watch me do my workout in the morning. My mother was over for dinner a few nights ago and laughed at the two of them. They had their eyes on my every move like they were hypnotized. I wasn't even putting on a show for them. I was caught up in the cooking and my mother had to tell me about it.I was currently on the phone with the warden from the prison my father was in. "You're sure he's dead and all threats are gone," I ask in a choked whisper."Yes, he was caught up in a prison gang fight and another prisoner stabbed him with a shiv," the warden says softly. "All of those who followed him are in solidarity confinement."I break into relieved sobs and Carrie takes the phone. "Thank you warden, I'm s
I was watching movies with Alexis while Kelly and Claire went out with the twins to Kelly's parents house. We were cuddled up on the couch watching the Lion King. We both must have fallen asleep because I woke to Devon covering us with a blanket. I look around sleepily and she motions to my right side. I look down and saw Alexis hugged to my arm, sleeping with her head on my shoulder. She had my hair and eyes but she looks like Devon. Erica, Kelly and Claire walk in, admiring how Alexis was cuddled with me. I look at Erica. After Carrie left I did a little more digging and found out several things, one of which I needed to talk to her about. It left me feeling guilty and partially at fault. "I need to speak with you, privately," I say quietly, but my tone was serious."Does it have to be right now," Devon asks curious, taking Erica's left hand that now held the ring Devon showed me yesterday."It's official police business, so yeah. It has to be now," I say quietly. I raise an eyeb
I got to spend time with Alexis while Devon and Erica had a night to themselves. I can't believe how much in common Alexis and I have. I know I missed out her entire life and I can never get the time lost back, but I can make up for it now. We camped out in a fort we made in the living room. We stayed up late getting to know each other and she bonded with the twins until Kelly and Claire took them to bed for the night. She said good night to Kelly and Claire and I kiss them both good night.I woke to someone shaking my shoulder and look up to see Erica. I look at her confused as why she was waking me. She just motions for me to follow her and I do. I follow her passed the others and they all looked confused. I shrug, rubbing sleep from my eyes.Devon walks up to Erica and asks confused, "Where you going?""To talk with Jennifer over coffee. I'll be back in an hour," she says giving Devon a kiss. "Maybe two.""Don't forget me while you're gone," Devon jokes with her and Erica laughs.
****okay so I just recently updated a chapter and we left off that Devon gave her baby up for open adoption. Jessica wiped Jennifer's memory of Devon and ended with the devil. And since I literally can't get our favorite latina off my mind I've decided to do a back to back update. So those of you waiting for other books, blame Devon lmao. Anyway... This chapter is still in Devon's POV and picks up with her and Jennifer in present time before Devon had her flashbacks....****I woke to sobbing and I'm naked in bed with Jennifer. I haven't been with her since the weekend before spring fling and before we found out about Alexis. I look at Jennifer and she's facing away from me. I have been trying to keep my distance from her because she still doesn't remember who I am. I haven't been with anyone in the twelve years that passed since Jessica ran her over. I get my clothes on and gingerly roll her to her back. Her eyes meet mine and I'm reminded of our daughter. She's still under Erica's c
****this is still Devon's POV and flashback. We ended with her in the hospital from head trauma. Now we get into where Jessica "gets with" Jennifer and why Devon doesn't end up with Jennifer****Devon's POV continued...It's been a week since Bruce shoved me into a locker. I'm able to return to school and Jennifer is picking me up for a ride to school. My mother doesn't want me driving yet and Jennifer offered without hesitation. So it's where I am now, the front passenger seat of her car. The ride is quiet, but comfortable. She keeps her focus on the road ahead and other drivers. We both reach for the radio at the same time and pull our hands away. "Sorry, it's your car. You choose the music," I murmur shyly and we glance at each other."You choose," she says with a smile and I smile in return.I turn on the radio and one of my favorite songs was playing, Perfect by Ed Sheeran. I glance at Jennifer and I see a small smile on her face. I let out a relieved breath and think about the f
****okay so last chapter Devon got a little frisky with Jennifer. This chapter is all about her and how her feelings for Jennifer developed. This chapter gives a whole new outlook to Soulmates but that is all I'm saying. You have to read in order to find out... Hehehehe enjoy****Devon POV junior year of high school...Watching Jennifer change in the locker room when no one else is around is exciting. I've been crushing on her since middle school. She's not like other girls, but I don't care. I feel drawn to her and I get this butterfly eruption in my stomach when I catch her looking at me. We're both too shy to act on our feelings, but I'm working up the courage to ask her to spring fling. We bump into each other as she rounds the corner from the showers and our eyes meet. I feel as my heart skips a beat and breaths catch in my throat. My eyes travel down her body and her towel fell open, revealing the beautiful creature she is. I close up her towel, tucking it tightly so it doesn't
I was napping with Claire while her breathing and heart rate continues to slow down. I woke to stirring next to me and my eyes are immediately met with Claire's. Her hand caresses my scarred up face and tears fill both our eyes. "You're really awake," she asks with disbelief.I kiss her lips to answer her question and she whimpers relieved sobs as her tongue explores my mouth. The salty taste of her tears mingles with our kiss as she pours her emotions into the kiss. She breaks from the kiss, meeting my eyes and shutters a calming breath. "When I heard you on the phone," she chokes in a wavering whisper and shakes her head unable to finish her sentence. "Next time you get a call about a lead on a case, bring backup."We both laugh through our tears and I kiss her forehead. "I promise," I say in a soothing whisper and she lets out a relieved breath."I'm sorry," Kelly says in a wavering whisper and Claire looks at her in the doorway. "I shouldn't have forced you to see her knowing you
****given that Kelly has had two chances of her own POV, here's Claire's after what happened to Jennifer in the previous chapter****ClaireBryce was surprised to see I was calm and that the triplets were all at their normal heart rate with the added stress of what happened to Jennifer. Yes, I'll admit I was terrified when I heard her over the speaker, but I had Caroline and Kelly keeping me calm. I had to, my babies depend on me keeping calm. Kelly was with Jennifer now and my mother walks in, asking for privacy with me.Caroline kisses my forehead and and I'm left alone with my mother. She climbs in the bed with me and I cuddle into her. She rubs my stomach, but they refuse to kick. They haven't kicked since I heard what was happening with Jennifer. I knew only her touch would get them moving, but for now Kelly requested that I be monitored until tomorrow morning.Sobs erupt from my lips and my mother does her best to calm me. It's no use, I needed Jennifer. Devon walks in with sym
****I'm sorry in advance for what is about to happen in this chapter, but it needs to. There will be extreme gruesome context, mentions of torture. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK****I was back at work a few weeks later, following up on a lead to my case. An anonymous tip said the missing girl was last seen near an abandoned house outside of town. The kidnapper hasn't been seen around in two days so I took my chances and went there to look around. The moment I walk in the door I feel a hard hit to the back of my head, blacking out.I woke up with my head throbbing. I try to reach and rub the back of my head, but I couldn't move my hands. I look down and see I'm restrained to a chair by duct tape. I look at my waist and I'm thankful for wearing a belt. Why you may ask? I can use my belt to cut through the tape and escape. By the looks of it, I'm still at the abandoned house. Thankfully I told Caroline and Jamie where I was going.I decide to wait to see is holding me against my will before I tr
We were able to bring the twins home and Jamie took one of the spare rooms. Being the only one who knew what happened to her over there, I wanted her close to me. When I was still overseas, I was the only one in our unit able to calm her down. After hearing that she was repeatedly raped during her capture, she was bound to have PTSD attacks.I'd just gotten the girls back to sleep in the middle of the night when I heard screams come from the room Jamie was in. Sarah bursts from her room with a gun and I shake my head. She looks at me confused as Jamie screams for it to stop. She looks at me with understanding and I let myself in Jamie's room. She was tossing and turning, drenched in sweat. I take her in my arms and she beats on my chest. "Jamie, it's me," I shout over her screaming and she opens her eyes, scared. "It's okay now, you're home.""Jennifer," she asks in a scared whisper as if she thought she were dreaming."I'm here," I say in a soothing whisper and she lets out a calming
