Asteria POV.I wake up, still wrapped in Carter’s arms as I stretch and roll so I’m facing him. His eyes are closed, but I know he is pretending to be asleep.I kiss his lips and he moans and I chuckle as I move back from him as he opens one eye and smiles at me.“Morning.” He says and pulls me back to his chest and I chuckle at him as he rolls, pinning me under him. Kissing every inch of my face. I giggle as he begins to tickle me. I squeal and roll him again. Sitting on him, I pin his arms above his head. He groans and bucks his hips and I lean down and kiss him.“Morning.” I release his arms, and he sits up before he hugs me to him.“Are you sore anywhere?” he asks and I shake my head, surprisingly I’m not. Not like the last time. But then again, I was human back then.“No, I’m great. Are you ok?” I ask and he smiles at me before he claims my lips in a gentle kiss.“Always.” He says when we pull apart. I look around the room and my eyes widen. Fucking hell.“Carter, I am so sorry.
Asteria POV.Looking into his beautiful violet-blue eyes, I smile to myself. When I think about me being a potential hybrid. That couldn’t be possible, could it?“When is the next full moon?” I ask as he pulls his phone from his back pocket and types away on it.“Three weeks.” He shows me the screen on his moon app and it’s not just any moon, it’s a super moon.“Ok, we can work with this. You are already changing. For your first shift, we will need to be at the beach mansion.” I tell him and he looks at me, confused.“Why would we need the beach mansion?” he asks, and I smile softly at him. I cup his cheek with my hand and he leans in to it, turning his cheek to kiss my palm.“When you shift during the full moon, you will need the ocean. The ocean during a full moon is magical. There is a certain magic in the water. It will help with the transition.” I tell him when I snort and start laughing. Carter looks at me, concerned that I am having some kind of mental breakdown.“What’s so fun
Carter POV.Swimming with Asteria is the best thing I could have ever experienced. The way she guided me, the way she is gentle and understanding. I chuckle to myself at that thought. The siren queen being gentle. I know she can be savage but this side of her; I love. I love her anyway, all of her, but this side, the gentle nurturing side, is something else. She is a true queen.“A luna queen.” Lykos says and I couldn’t agree more. Since I have become a Lycan. Lykos has been teaching me what he knows about wolves and lycans. I think it safe to say I am now completely comfortable with being a shifter. I always knew I was different growing up.I grew bigger and stronger than my peers in school. I was faster, too. Now I know why. I always thought the voice in my head was just my conscience. Who would have thought it was Lykos all along?“She will be more protective of our little hybrid than any other mother. What I understand about sirens is that they are strongly protective of the young
Asteria POV.That was fun. Poor Carter, he looks green around the gills. I approach him, fighting the urge to laugh when he straightens up, holding his chest.“You ok?” I ask as I rub his arm and he turns to look at me. He is in shock. Fuck! Great going Asteria, you have given him a heart attack.“What? Yeah, sorry I’m ok,” He says and I fidget with my fingers when he runs his hand over his hair and I turn away from him, smiling, silently laughing, holding a hand to my mouth as we walk towards the packhouse. The pack is unusually quiet. Maybe they are on a pack run? I walk up the steps and push the door open. Yeah, they must be on a pack run. Carter takes my hand and we walk inside and sit in the sitting room.Something doesn’t feel right. I look around the room and I notice there are no pictures of Perla, but then again, I wouldn’t expect him to keep any of her. But that isn’t what is strange. I stand and move around the room.Looking at everything, the room is the same as I remember
Asteria POV.Sitting in the living room of the packhouse. Javier has entered freshly changed with his Beta Liam. Javier sits opposite to us with Liam sitting next to him.“You said you had some questions?” Javier asks, and I take a breath as I get comfortable.“Yes, I want to know if Perla ever shifted into a wolf or if you ever shifted into a siren?” I ask him and he looks from me to his Beta and he turns back to me and shakes his head as he leans back, resting his foot over his knee.“No, she remained a siren, and I remained a wolf. Why?” he asks and I look at Carter and he turns to Javier.“Because I am becoming a hybrid. So we wanted to know if this had happened with you and Perla. Or if this has ever happened before?” Carter says and I nod in agreement to his statement.“No, as far as I am aware as you will be Asteria. That only humans can be turned if they have specific shifter DNA.” He says and I agree because that is right. Even dormant DNA can be awakened. I mean, look at Mia
Asteria POV.It has been a few weeks since we went to the pack and were now back at the beach mansion. Tonight is the full moon.We are celebrating. We have invited our friends to Carter’s first shift, just like they do when a werewolf shifts for the first time. I thought it was only right to do this for him. Sirens shift from birth, and this is a monumental occasion.I flush the toilet and brush my teeth again. The morning sickness hit me two weeks ago and I’m sporting a small baby bump.Every opportunity that Carter gets, he is always touching my belly, either with his hands or his lips. Every night after my nightly swim and we are settled in bed. He lifts my top and reads a story to my belly. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen. But this morning sickness is the only downside. I have never known a siren to have this sickness. But then again, I am on land, so that could be a reason. But who knows?Dani told me she was as sick as a dog for the first four months of her pregnancy an
Asteria POV.I prepare Carter with Artemis. He is standing on the beach as we paint his skin. The blue paint is from the bioluminescent plants as we make swirls and patterns on his bare skin. His eyes locked on mine as I move my fingers over his skin.“There, you are ready.” I say to him as I strip down and take his hand in mine and lead him towards the water. I look at the beach and see everyone smiling. As we enter the water.“You will be ok,” I say to him as I squeeze his hand. He squeezes it back and takes a few breaths to calm himself down. I sing to him to calm him further and I don’t stop. The deeper we get, he lets me go and I shift. After I breach the water, I move closer to him.I look up and see the moon is full and in position. I swim around him.“Anything?” I ask him, and he clenches his jaw and begins to breathe harshly through his nose.“Don’t fight it.” I say to him and he relaxes. I swim back and he moves further forward. When he groans out in pain and I know it is ha
Carter POV.This is amazing. Being a siren is awesome. Being able to swim at depths only by being reached by using subs is amazing. Seeing all these new and amazing creatures and other sirens around me is something else.Everything is more vivid around me thanks to my siren’s eyesight. Feeling the vibrations of the water and the life living within the ocean’s words can’t even describe how it all feels.Swimming in this form takes a lot of power and now I understand why the sirens are all so fit and trim. It takes a lot to be able to swim in this form, not forgetting about the water pressure and everything else that goes with it.Asteria has been so patient with me as I get used to being in this form. Learning to control the thrust and the manoeuvring in the water. But I know we must return to the surface world soon. I chuckle at that like a big kid, surface world.“Are you ready?” Asteria nudges me with her fin and I smile at her.“Not really, but I know we must get this bit out of th
