Chapter 7

Ariana had no idea what could happen.

Sienna suddenly said, "There's a charity auction tonight. Why don't you attend it with me?"

"Weren't we talking about Joanne? Why the change of topic?"

Sienna replied mysteriously, "Oh, you'll find out why soon. But before the event, drop by my place so that I can have someone do your makeup."

Ariana didn't have any surgery scheduled for that day, so she took an hour off in the afternoon and went to Sienna's place.

The moment she reached there, Sienna sat her down in front of the vanity and asked the makeup artist to work her magic.

The makeup artist she hired was well-known in the entertainment industry. She had done many iconic looks for various celebrities.

She praised, "Ms. Lubove, your skin is flawless. It's like you don't have any pores. With your looks, it's a shame you're not in showbiz."

Ariana replied, "I'd just be a pretty face and nothing more. I don't have that kind of talent."

"Some people would love to be a pretty face. But sadly, things don't always work out the way they want them to," the makeup artist commented.

She chatted with Ariana while applying a light layer of makeup that suited her skin type and her overall dignified temperament.

When her outfit, makeup, and hairstyle were all done, Ariana stood up in her full glory.

Sienna looked at her with bright eyes full of admiration. "You're going to outshine everyone tonight, Ari! Let's get going!"

Ariana thought Sienna was just being playful. But when they arrived at the auction venue, she finally understood why Sienna had insisted on dressing her up—Spencer would be attending the event with Joanne in tow.

They ran into Jensen as soon as they entered.

Jensen looked at Ariana from head to toe and smiled appreciatively. "Where did this captivating fairy come from? If nobody claims you, I'm taking you home."

"Stop fooling around." Ariana nudged him lightly. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here with my mom," Jensen replied. "Did you come with Sienna? You should let her dress you up more often. Your obsession with those pastel, girly clothes was such a waste of your good looks."

Sienna chimed in animatedly, "I know, right? Leave it to me. I'll make sure you're always radiant and stunning!"

"I'm a doctor. I go to the hospital to treat patients, not to participate in beauty contests," Ariana said helplessly.

"But seeing a beautiful doctor will cheer the patients up and help them to recover faster," Jensen said jokingly.

Ariana rolled her eyes at him. "What nonsense."

Jensen turned to Sienna. "See, Sisi. She always scoffs at whatever I say."

The three of them had grown up together and shared a deep bond. Their conversation flowed naturally as they bantered with each other.

After they chatted for a while, Sienna went away to take a phone call.

Jensen and Ariana remained where they were.

"Let me know if there's anything that catches your eye. I'll bid on it for you. Consider it a reward for looking so beautiful tonight," Jensen offered playfully.

"It's all jewelry and some supposedly valuable stuff. You know I don't care about that. You should get Sisi something, though," Ariana said with a laugh.

Although Sienna had made a name for herself in the fashion industry, her current lifestyle was still quite modest compared to before.

When Spencer entered the venue with Joanne, the first person he laid eyes on was Ariana.

She wore a mermaid-style evening gown.

The thin gauze draped over her slender shoulders perfectly, connecting down to a bodice adorned with transparent crystal beads. Her waist was cinched into an hourglass shape. Wavy pleats extended from the small of her back to the flared-out train.

The gown hugged her curves flawlessly. The broad, glittering train of the stunning gown shimmered with every little movement. Ariana looked like she had put a night sky full of stars on her body, making it impossible for one to look away.

Her figure was impeccable. The black fabric made her already fair skin glow radiantly by contrasting starkly against it. Her slender wrists, slim neck, and narrow waist were put on full display.

Usually, only Spencer got to see those beautiful sides of her. But today, she was openly showcasing herself and smiling so enchantingly.

Spencer couldn't help but quicken his pace.

Joanne exclaimed in surprise. She almost lost her balance when Spencer pulled her along.

Only when her high-pitched cry reached his ears did Spencer remember that he had come here with someone and stopped to wait for her.

Joanne was wearing the same dress Ariana had worn previously.

In her opinion, while she wasn't as beautiful as Ariana—whose face was a masterpiece created by the heavens—the fact remained that Spencer didn't like his wife. No matter how drop-dead gorgeous Ariana was, it was useless in his eyes.

She couldn't hold a candle to Ariana in terms of looks, but she had the advantage of being young. Her figure and skin weren't much inferior compared to Ariana's. If Ariana looked good in a certain dress, she believed she would look even better in it.

By extension, she thought she was a better match for Spencer than Ariana.

Sure enough, after Joanne put on that silver evening gown and had a makeover done, she felt like a brand new woman. Many people complimented her new look.

She had never worn such an expensive and beautiful dress before. She couldn't wait to prove to everyone, especially Spencer, that she was more suitable for him.

However, in the eyes of a professional fashion designer like Sienna, it was a completely different story.

Joanne's figure, bone structure, and overall disposition couldn't compare to Ariana's. The effect she achieved by wearing the same dress was no more than being an inferior, lackluster imitation of Ariana.

Ariana looked ethereal and otherworldly in that dress. But Joanne had a petite frame and a cute appearance, so the silver gown didn't suit her at all.

When Sienna learned that Joanne would be attending the auction, she was eager to bring Ariana along to see how Joanne would embarrass herself.

After Sienna finished her call, she looked up and saw Spencer staring at Ariana. She couldn't help but notice him due to his striking appearance and height, which made him stand out in any crowd.

She was sure she saw a look of astonishment in his eyes.

Sienna cheered internally as her goal was achieved. She wanted that bastard to realize how attractive, outstanding, and charming Ariana was.

Ariana saw Spencer and Joanne, too.

Like the time at the art exhibition, Joanne was holding onto Spencer's arm intimately again.

Ariana also noticed Spencer's gaze on her. His eyes were cold as he stared at her fiercely like she was an enemy.

Joanne noticed Ariana the moment they stepped into the venue. She was immediately stunned at how beautiful she was. She hadn't expected to see Ariana there. Nor did she anticipate that Ariana would be wearing a dress that was even more breathtaking than the silver one.

Even she, a woman, found Ariana unbelievably beautiful. Men would go crazy for a woman like her.

She snuck a glance at Spencer instinctively and saw a slight hint of anger in his eyes. Having been around him for some time, she had a grasp of his temper.

His lips were tightly pressed together, and he looked unbothered. Though his expression was devoid of any emotion, Joanne knew he was angry. Instead of being impressed by Ariana's beauty, he was annoyed for some reason.

Joanne felt reassured when she saw this. Spencer must have hated Ariana so much that the mere sight of her displeased him. He paid no heed to how stunning she looked in that evening gown.

She whispered, "Spence, should we go over and say hello to Dr. Lubove? She seems to be having a good time talking to that man."

Spencer's expression soured further at her words.

Joanne noticed the slight change and thought that no man could stand having a promiscuous wife.
