Joanne was startled. "Huh? Really? Spence, are you okay?"

"He's fine. There's something wrong with his brain."

Spencer glared at Ariana furiously. "You're the one with a brain issue!"

Joanne watched as the two fought with each other and somehow thought they seemed to be flirting.

She had always felt insecure, so she immediately looked at Ariana. "Ari, Spence is injured, yet you're making him mad. Would you leave first? I'll take care of him."

Ariana replied, "That's great, then. Otherwise, I'll have to pay to hire a caretaker."

She was implying that Joanne was being a caretaker for free.

Before Joanne said anything, Ariana smiled and said, "However, you'd better inform me if there's anything wrong with him. After all, they will need me—his lawfully wedded wife—to decide if he needs to be extubated next time."

With that, Ariana wheeled herself out of the ward before the two could react.

Spencer could vaguely sense the sarcasm in Ariana's words. He asked, "What extubation?"
