Chapter 3: The Challenge
.
All of a sudden, Miles burst out laughing collapsing all over his desk.
“You are supposed to play with two people “. He exclaimed, totally amused by Aiden’s wholehearted attempt.
Aiden tilted his head to the side in confusion. “Two people ? How are you supposed to play with two people ?”.
Miles smirked and pulled another pepero stick. “I’ll show you”.
He placed the chocolate covered stick in Aiden’s mouth before biting onto the other end.
Aiden’s eyes widened as he realized what was happening.
The older boy began to advance towards him, munching down on the other side.
They were suddenly reminded of the fact that they weren’t alone in the class when squeals and shrieks were heard.
The female students in the classroom began to squeal at the sight and pulled out their phones, snapping pictures and recording videos of the two.
It was as if those boy love moment they usually watched in gay movies was coming to life.
It was only natural that they would want to capture the moment between the two most sought after guys in their grade.
Aiden Morales, the smartest yet coolest nerd.
And Miles Parker, the most popular boy in their grade.
Miles continued to move forward, leaning in.
Every bite leading him closer and closer to the younger’s lips.
But before much could happen further, Aiden regained his composure and bit down sharply ending the game quickly.
Miles caught the fallen piece in his hand and looked down at it. “That’s like 5 centimeters remaining, Aiden, why did you cut it off? Aish!! You are really bad at this game than I thought. Not as easy as you claimed, now was it ?”.
He asked the younger boy expecting a reply but Aiden didn’t respond as he averted his eyes away, looking back down at his homework.
He continued where he left off as if nothing had happened, his expression giving off no emotions.
Though on the inside, he was burning up.
He wasn’t sure if it was because there were girls in the classroom staring at him with their wide doe eyes or it was because he was literally inches away from Miles’s lips.
And it was surprising to him that the older wasn’t affected by it; he didn’t look affected by the closeness at all.
Miles lowered himself and rested his chin on the desk. “Let’s try again later. I’m going to go now, see you in 6th period “.
He said before getting up and leaving the classroom.
Aiden was now alone with a bunch of newly formed fan girls who were supposedly spreading the pictures and videos they had taken to others.
He sighed, a little bit of warmth arising to the apples of his cheeks as he tried to rub his sweaty palms dry,
He hasn’t been in this situation before and with a guy at that too, so the blush forming on his already rosy red cheeks was quite explainable though.
Aiden was one to maintain his distance with people, no body ever got within his personal space.
Even though it was just a game, Miles doing that to him gave him a small shock, he was a little freaked out by the action because he hasn’t experienced that kind of closeness with someone other than his mother before.
Although he finally knew how to play the pepero game, though, he didn’t really know if he would want to try it again...

Miles walked out of the classroom, with a nervous smile on his face, his heart was beating at a quite increasing rate so he felt a fluttery nervous stomach feeling.
He wasn’t supposed to get that close to Aiden, he had expected the younger boy to push him off when he understood the game but he didn’t, instead he sat there, frozen.
And so that made Miles continue the game, but now walking in the school hallways with a weird smile on his face, it may have been a bad idea.
He waved to a few students he recognized as he usually did while he walked to the school cafeteria.
But noticing everybody was on their phone distracted him, he was curious as to what could be so important to have intrigued them that way but he wasn’t patient to try and find out why.
Miles was hungry and he definitely wasn’t going to waste his lunch period trying to find out what was trending in the school as he thought it to be a waste of time and effort.
He would eventually find out about the news when his best friend, August tells him later, anyways.
He got to the cafeteria cooly placing a palm in his trousers as he searched around his friend, he recognized the table and moved towards him.
He noticed the same thing again, mostly the girls were on their phone and by the familiar sounds he was listening to, he could tell it was the same video that had everybody enthralled.
“Hey, Auggie!”. He said quite enthusiastically sitting next to his shorter friend.
But August was intrigued by his phone, like everybody else in the cafeteria.
Something interesting had to be trending in the school, Miles thought as he watched his friend intently focus on his phone.
“Hey! What are you watching anyways ?”. He quickly grabbed the phone attempting to take a look.
August didn’t argue or try to reclaim it but he just let his friend do what he wanted.
Miles looked down at the phone, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion as he watched the video.
It was of him and Aiden earlier in the classroom doing that pepero challenge just minutes ago.
This was pretty much the video that everybody was watching.
But he was confused on how it to got he trending immediately.
“So are you going to explain ?”. August asked drawing his attention back to me. “Or should I just use my imagination? Or maybe believe what the girls that posted this are saying because I cannot believe this is true. I need to confirm it from you!”.
“Yeahh, it kinda is”. Miles replied rubbing the nape of his neck nervously. “Well you know how we are going on a school trip, Aiden is my partner “.
“But that doesn’t explain any of this, Aiden isn’t the type to get close to someone immediately and not especially because of a mere school trip. Spill.. what did you do?”.
“You don’t think Aiden can talk to me ?”. Miles asked acting offended. "Why, am i not friebdly enough ?".
August rolled his eyes. “He doesn’t talk anyone in our grade. And you, Miles can’t be friends with him, you are exactly the opposite of him, so that makes you probably more annoying “.
“I’m going to prove you wrong “. Miles scoffed. “Aiden and I are going to be the best of friends despite his antisocial behavior. You just watch and see “.

Like that’ll ever happen,” Ryder cackled from behind him. Miles shot him a glare over his shoulder.“Remind me, Aiden, where are we going?” Zane spoke up. They had been following Aiden past the edge of town and into the forest for at least thirty minutes. Wyatt was practically hanging from Zane’s shoulders like a cape at this point, too tired to walk anymore.“You’ll recognize it soon enough,” Aiden answered confidently. The group finally found a path, and sighed in relief when they no longer had to trudge through itchy undergrowth. Miles took up Aiden’s hand again and leaned into his ear.“Hey Aiden?”“Let me guess, you like me?”“No, I was gonna say your hair looks pretty today.”
