“Go on,”

He urged me with a slight scoff.

“You wanted to learn magic, say it.”

I didn't know why I was so nervous. I pestered him so much about it and now I was chickening out. Thankfully, I didn't need to say the words out loud, as long as I said them perfectly in my head, it would work out just fine. The only issue is, if I said it wrongly, something bad could happen, and I didn't want that.

“After everything your father taught you about courage, you still choose to be afraid?”

“Shut up and let me concentrate.”

I yelled at him. He immediately let out a loud laugh. We had gotten to the point where we were so comfortable around each other. We teased each other a lot and played a lot more often. He smiled more and so did I.

When I was certain I was ready, I mouthed the strange words with my eyes closed tightly.

“You did it Leiya.” I heard him cheer.
